Button that changes color

Can some one tell me how I can create that fancy button I see
in the tutorials that changes color as you hover over it right
before you click it. I'm sure it is simple but I can't seem to find
it

Hi drc_TO
If you use a regular plain ole Text button, it should change
appearance when you mouse over and click. You can easily change
that to an image button. When you do, you have a collection of
images available to you to choose from. Or if you wish to create
your own images, you would create them using an image editor. You
need three. One for the normal state. One for the moused over
state. And one for the clicked state. You then name them
appropriately and ensure they exist in the folder along with the
others. Normally that will be inside a Gallery folder where
Captivate is installed. (The names vary depending on Captivate
version)

  • How to create a radio button that changes colors

    I'm using Acrobat X and ID CS5 on Mac OS X.
    A couple of years ago someone on the forums explained to me how to create a button that changes color with each click. You can view a sample PDF at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52882455/colorcycle.pdf. They gave me the document JS and showed me how to set the properties of the button. I've integrated the button into a particular series of PDF forms and it's worked out very well.
    Now I would like to do the same thing, but using a circle instead of a square. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? Can I somehow set a radio button to cycle through colors in the same way? I design my forms initially in ID CS5 and then activate and format the fields in Acrobat X. I've tried using circles instead of squares in my ID document, but when I export to an interactive PDF, they're converted to squares.
    Any ideas?

    I understand how to make buttons cycle through colors-- the problem I'm having is that I'm trying to figure out how to make a circular button cycle through colors. When I export my ID document to PDF, my round button maintains it's original appearance, but when I click on it to cycle through the colors, it behaves like a square (see new PDF at https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/52882455/colorcycle2.pdf).
    If I use a radio button, I can get it to cycle through colors, but I don't want it to have a black dot in the middle. Is there a way to format the radio button to not show the black dot when clicked?

  • Able to have a Submit button that changes color after selection

    Curious if this can be done..

    Things that you can control the color of include the border, label text, and background. You can also change the button label and icon (if present). This can all be done when it is clicked. You can also set the mouse down and rollover appearances. Some of this is controlled via JavaScript and others by setting the corresponding options. If you explain exactly what you'd like, we can provide specific guidance.

  • Make box that changes color depending on button pressed

    I need to be able to press 1 of 6 buttons that change
    graphics to a page on a single-frame site I'm building. This is the
    first time I've built a single frame site (calling swf's) and it
    seems easy but having the green button fade whatever color exists
    down while fading green up and isn't as easy as I thought. In order
    for it to be "smart" and know what color is there so it can fade it
    (probably even easier way than being color specific - but I
    obviously don't know it).
    Just getting into the AS2 part of flash and trying to meet
    deadlines while learning is hard to do, so thanks for the help!

    Hello:
    Say you have a page that has 2 regions R1 and R2. Each region has a button that when clicked submits the page. The buttons are named B1 and B2. Further, F1 and F2 are the first fields in region R1 and R2. There also is a hidden item named H1 on the page (region does not matter). So, you define a pl/sql page process with a process point of 'After Submit...' with the following codeif :request in ('B1') then
       :H1 := 'F1';
    end if;
    if :request in ('B2') then
       :H1 := 'F2';
    end if;The APEX built-in variable named 'REQUEST' is automatically assigned a value of the button that caused the page to submit.

  • I have an Apple TV Gen1 and it has a blinking light that changes color and I dont get any video displayed

    we have lost a few AV items due to a recent storm and i am trying to find out if my apple Tv model: A1218 is dead or fixable. It has a blinking light that changes color and I dont get any video displayed. the color looks to go red, green, off and keeps repeating that cycle.

    All I could find is this: http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24576
    It looks to have an issue, i.e. possibly bricked.

  • Turning Buttons Off & Changing Color

    I have 9 buttons at the top mf my scene that play 9 movie clips, but when you arrive at the clip and click the button again it replays the clip, which I don't want it to do.
    For example, in many sites you will notice that when you arrive at a page, the button that took you there becomes unclickable while you are at that page and usually changes color.  Is there anyone who can please give me the code (AS3) to temporarily disable the button and have it remain on the "down" frame until the user navigates away?  Thank you.

    What you should be able to do is set the mouseEnabled property to false for the button.  If it is a SimpleButton object, and you are using AS3, you can set the upState to equal the downState....  btnName.upState = btnName.downState;
    You might also consider dimming the button instead of juggling the states by setting its alpha property to something < 1.

  • Creating a button that changes with the images in a slideshow in Adobe Muse?

    Are you able to create a new button inside or outside of a slide show that changes with the images?  I want to have the images change and contain a title and link to the project they are related to.  Whenever the image changes, whether automatically or someone clicks the "Next/Previous" buttons, the button link and title will change with it.

    Sorry,  not sure exactly how to describe it.  I have a link to a page that uses this technique:
    www.roofstudio.tv
    The first page ("Featured" page) contains the what I am looking for.   The title of the project changes with picture but the link on the "view  project" button (probably just a new button in the same location) also changes.   So when the picture of project X is up the button will take you to project X's page.  When it changes to the project Y picture, the link will take you to project Y's page.  My problem is that I'm not sure how have my button or even the text to change.   Slideshows only change pictures not buttons.   Since it's a widget i can't seem to add any new buttons.  Hope this is a better description of my issue.

  • Cant find character direction option and i dont have those two buttons that change type direction

    i downloaded a few hours ago the free one month trial of cc
    and i downloaded illustrator
    but i seem to be missing the option to change the type directon from right to left and from left to right
    at first it wrote hebrew words opposite... so if i write "hello" it would write"olleh" (in hebrew ofcourse)
    but i was able to fix that by chosing the show indic option (under preference>type>show indie and then in parahgraph options "middle eastern and south asian single\every line composer")
    my problem now is that i cant find the character direction option under character manu... and i cant change type to be from left to right or from right to left (the buttons under parahgraph window are simply missing)
    so now if i want to write something like:  " *hebrew word* : ) "    it instead writes  "  : ) *hebrew word* "      (it mixes words with signs in a wierd way)
    I am running windows 7 64 bit
    Please help me find out what im doing wrong? =\

  • Can a time stamp be applied that changes color if under 24 hr.

    We use fillable pdf to enter job orders. Is there a way that when orders are enter that if the due date is within a 24 hrs period it can change to red or say rush charhe to notify my clients and employees that there will be a upcharge.

    Yes, you need to convert the order date and time and delivery date and time to a JavaScript date object and then get the time in milliseconds from the Epoch date for the 2 items. If you subtract the order date time from the delivery date time values you will have the difference in milliseconds which is easily converted to hours.
    Exact code will require field names, and formats for date and time.
    You use the "util.scand" method to convert a date and time string to a date object.

  • Button change color on select, then change back

    I have 3 buttons, named but,but2,but3. What I want is if you
    click a button it changes color to show what page your on. But when
    you click a different button now that one is highlighted and the
    original one goes back to the original color. Here's the code.
    but3.onPress = function () {
    _root.createEmptyMovieClip("container", 1);
    loadMovie("banner3.swf", "container");
    container._x = 0;
    container._y = 0 ;
    I figure I have to add some kind of if statement?
    }

    I got it. I added this code for each button.
    but.gotoAndStop(2);
    but1.gotoAndStop(1);
    but2.gotoAndStop(1)

  • Drop down menu button will not change color

    I have built a 6 button  rollover dropdown menu bar in Flash CS4
    On five of the dropdown menus I can get the buttons to change color
    On the fifth dropdown I can see the button, but when rolled over I can't get the color to change.
    I have moved the buttons on the fifth drop down to the first drop down button and they work perfectly.
    Is this a bug in Flash CS4 or......
    thank you
    Sb!

    I appreciate your reply but those arrows were not the ones I was trying to describe. In the same box where you would type your web address on the far right is a small star and then next to it an arrow pointing down. If you click on this arrow, it normally drops down a list of the websites you commonly use. Or, if you are on a website ordering something, there might be a similar arrow that you need to select in order to choose which shipping you might want such as ground, next day air, etc., these are the kinds of arrows that are not working correctly now. Any ideas on these? Thanks for trying to help me.

  • Change Color on mouse click

    Hi Guys.  I have followed Ned's code from another post, whereby if a text button is clicked, the color will change.  The code is like
    var clicked:Boolean = false;
    var clicked2:Boolean = false;
    btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn1click);
    function btn1click(event:MouseEvent):void {
        clicked = true;
        var newColorTransform:ColorTransform = btn1.transform.colorTransform;
        if(clicked){
        newColorTransform.color = 0xc97f22;
        } else {
        newColorTransform.color = 0x000000;
        btn1.transform.colorTransform = newColorTransform;
        gotoAndStop(5);
    btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btn2click);
    function btn2click(event:MouseEvent):void {
        clicked2 = true;
        var newColorTransform:ColorTransform = btn2.transform.colorTransform;
        if(clicked2){
        newColorTransform.color = 0xc97f22;
        } else {
        newColorTransform.color = 0x000000;
        btn2.transform.colorTransform = newColorTransform;
        gotoAndStop(6);
    Now if I click on the first button, it changes color and stays like that, which is perfect.  If I click on btn2, this changes color and stays like it.  The problem is that if btn2 is pressed, it should change color and stay like it (as it is doing), but btn1 should return back to its normal color (black).  I am not sure how to achieve this.
    Any advise appreciated
    Cheers

    When you mention something is from another post it is helpful if you provide a link so that the context of the code offered can be understood. What you choose as a solution might not be the optimum choice.
    Use the following instead:
    var newColorTransform:ColorTransform = new ColorTransform();
    var btns:Array = new Array({btn:btn1, frameNum:5},{btn:btn2, frameNum:6});
    for(var i:uint=0; i< btns.length; i++){
        btns[i].btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, btnclick);
    function btnclick(evt:MouseEvent):void {
        var frameToGoTo:uint;
        for(var i:uint=0; i< btns.length; i++){
            if(evt.currentTarget == btns[i].btn){
                newColorTransform.color = 0xc97f22;
                frameToGoTo = btns[i].frameNum;
            } else {
                newColorTransform.color = 0x000000;
            btns[i].btn.transform.colorTransform = newColorTransform;

  • Change color of font in part of email message

    I can't figure out how to change the font color of just a certain part of my email.  This should seem easy and it looks like you only highlight the text and click on colors.  But that doesn't work.  When I clicked on help it said go to preferences.  This only changes the color of the font of specific text like quoted text.  I want to just change the font color of a certain sentance or a few words.  Surely you have to be able to do this right?
    Thanks,
    Frustrated PC to Mac user.

    It sounds like you doing it correctly. I just created a test message, selected a couple of words and then clicked Format - Color and chose my color. The only text that changed color was what was selected. If that doesn't do it for you then I'd recommend using your AppleCare telephone support, you have 90 days of free support so take advantage of it!

  • PSD Rollover Button with image in front stops button from changing state

    I have a wide PSD button that changes state when rolled over. I would like to place a PNG image with transparency in some areas over the top of it so that the rollover button shows through the transparent areas of the PNG.
    How can you get it to do the rollover effect when the user mouses over the bit of the button that the image is in front of? Is ther a way of making the PNG 'invisible' to the mouse?
    I know I could redesign the button so that it includes the image but I'm trying to keep file sizes and load times to a minimum, I use this button a lot on my website with a different on each, and having that number of individual buttons would result in a bloated, slow-loading website.

    Hi Abhishek
    Thanks for your reply. I was able to achieve the effect I wanted by having the PNG and the PSD Button with the same link and then grouping them. This means I can mouse over the PNG and still get the PSD rollover effect, which is perfect.
    However I also have another similar problem. I have some different PSD Rollover Buttons which have some text in front of them (basically it's the button label). On some of these buttons when you roll over the text it prevents the rollover state of the button, and on other buttons the rollover effect occurs as it should, and there doesn't appear to be any consistency about which does what. Grouping or ungrouping doesn't appear to make a difference. Can you help?
