Buttons in dreamweaver
Hello!
I wonder if anyone could help me with my navigations buttons...
I am trying to create buttons with images I have created with photoshop in a way that tthey behave like this: "up" stage with one image, the "over" stage with another image and I would like the second image to stay once the button has been clicked.
I don´t know If I have explained properly so: the button says "CONTACTO" with brown type and white background and if you hover your mouse over it the button turns to white type and brwon background and when you click on it the button stays white type and brown background so the user knows where he/she is.
I have created rollover images and flash buttons but they don not behave as I would like. Ay suggestions? thank you so much.
Hi Nancy!
This is what I have created this morning, I like it but I have not been able to move the nav bar to the left so it is centered with the table that contains it. Could you let me know what I have to change to achieve this? Thank you.

Flash buttons in dreamweaver 8
Hi,
i am having a problem with inserting flash button in
dreamweaver 8, when i insert the buttons it appears on the page as
a grey box with "F"(flash) and not displaying the proper text. The
user is a standard windows users and has not administrator
privilidges. but if an administrator loggs into the pc and does the
exact same process then the flash button work.
has anyone come across this problem ? does anyone know how to
resolve
cheers
davidYou'll need to go back into Flash and build the links into the buttons before you create the swf's. Look in the Flash help docs regarding the getURL function as far as the code you'll need for linking. If you have problems, post in the Flash AS1 and AS2 forum.
Beyond that, don't be surprised if some feedback arises here regarding using Flash buttons. -
Creating buttons in Dreamweaver CS4
I'm designing a website in Dreamweaver and Flash. Everything works perfectly, from the .swf movies that I've put on the site to the simple images as banners. My problem comes when it comes to buttons, the flash buttons simply don't work on some browsers! I guess my main question is, how can I make functional buttons in Dreamweaver, so that they work in any browser (Firefox, Safari, Explorer, etc.)?
If the buttons are in Flash there is no reason they would not work from one browser to the next unless there are underlying issues on the system.
As far as other options you could just design your own background for buttons and use the Spry Menu bar with just one level. That will give it the same effect. -
How to add an outside url link to a navagation button in Dreamweaver Cs5.5
How or can I add an outside url link to a navagation button in Dreamweaver Cs5.5. If I try the properties/link it says that the link is an html and not a css.....
Thank youLinking is done in HTML, not CSS (with the exception of a link to a background picture)
So, if your navigation is a list, you'd have the following in your HTML:
<nav>
<ul>
<li><a href="index.html">Home</a></li>
<li><a href="about.html">About</a></li>
<li><a href="books.html">Books</a></li>
<li><a href="http://www.myexternalwebsitelink.com/inboundfromotherwebsite.html">External Link</a></li>
<li><a href="contact.php">Contact</a></li>
</ul>
</nav>
Here, in the example above, I'm using the HTML5 <nav>, but that could be an HTML4 <div class="nav"> and you will see a link to an internal page on the same website server for Home, About, Books and Contact with "External Link" pointing to another website external to the one we're on.
Make sense? -
How to upload a custom button on Dreamweaver cs5?
Hello,
I would like to add a custom "View Cart" button onto my website. I went onto a random website where I was able to create a custom image for my view cart button. The button I got was called button.php. I checked the document properties and collected some information on it. The type of file is: Adobe Fireworks PNG File (.png). It is said to open with: Adobe Fireworks CS5. I made a copy of this document and put it in Dreamweaver by opening a blank page and pasting the image in there. I saved the page and published it.
Then, I went onto paypal and put the link to this published page where it was asked for. I received a code that I pasted into dreamweaver in the section I wanted the "View Cart" button to appear. When I save and publish this page, the button never appears. Paypal's name is what appears and when you click on it, it goes to the cart.
So the problem appears to be with how I have uploaded and saved this image/button on Dreamweaver. Can anyone please tell me the proper way to upload it so that it appears on my website?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
LailaThank you very much for all of your suggestions and help.
I have found myself in another problem. Initially, I inserted the paypal "View Cart" button and code in my header. However, since there is a logo present there, and the code was lengthy, the PayPal button appeared right below my header and right above my navigation menu. I deleted it because of the awkward location it ended up being placed in. However, for some reason, it did not completely go away. If you visit www.Ziyah.com, you can see the "button" (which really did not even appear to begin with) in its place it says "Paypal the safer easier way to pay online!"
I have made several attempts and checked the code so many times. However, I do not see that original code I pasted from PayPal anywhere inside of my Dreamweaver code, so I do not know how to delete that "button" or tag line and get rid of it. I do not know where it is hiding, but it has to be somewhere in my code. I fear having to delete and re-do the navigation menu just to get rid of that.
Is there any way I can get rid of it? Again, here is the Paypal View Cart Code that I originally pasted into Dreamwaver. Please take a look and see if you can see parts of this code somewhere in my page code, because I cannot find it and hence, have no way to get rid of it.

Bring back the Refresh button in Dreamweaver (Was: Dreamweaver CC "simplifying")
Is anyone else flabbergasted that Adobe removed the refresh button from Dreamweaver CC? All for the purpose of "simplifying" the workspace? Sorry, that's just stupid! I don't see how removing ONE button at the top (which wasn't obtrusive, in the way, or useless) helps simplify my workspace. If anything, it is slowing me down because my brain is so used to hitting refresh to avoid my page jumping all over the place when I click in the design view... I KNOW that F5 does the same thing, I DON'T CARE. I've use 4 different versions of DW, and I'm currently regretting upgrading to CC.
Thanks a lot Adobe, your staff is currently so smart that they are bordering on retardation!I understand your frustration, but honestly I think I've hit the Refresh button more today than the last 10 years of various DW versions combined.
Like a lot of folks out there, I've pretty much always used keyboard shortcuts in lieu of menu options or buttons when they're available.
Changes in workflow happen when programs are updated, it keeps you on your toes. It's not like they completely rearranged the Insert menu, oh, wait a minute... -
Previewing Flash Button in Dreamweaver
When I insert the Flash Button/Movie into the Dreamweaver doc
and preview in browser, I only see a placeholder.
I created a simple Flash "movie" with some dynamic text
functioning as a button layered over the animation.
It previews fine in flash, and when I play the animation in
the Dreamweaver document it looks fine but when I try to preview it
in the browser from the Dreamweaver document all I see is a Flash
placeholder. Is this something that will change when the page is
published or is there something else I should try?If you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
Especially
consider those people who are browsing from a corporate
internet where Flash
is not allowed by the IT staff.
2. Search engines may not parse Flash links - your site will
not be
spidered unless you have redundant HTML links
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
You will have
to remake those buttons.
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons - and for
these reasons,
Adobe has removed Flash buttons and Flash text from CS4.

Fireworks buttons into Dreamweaver
Hello,
I have made some simple buttons in Fireworks that I would like to export and place in Dreamweaver. The buttons are symbols with an up and over state, but additionally I have added pop-up menus to each button. I know how to export and place buttons into Dreamweaver without the pop-up menus... just insert them as rollover images. But after adding the pop-up menus and exporting the button as images, html, and slices I don't know what to do to get them to work in Dreamweaver. Just inserting the html doesn't work... the buttons just appear as a stagnant image. There appears to be some JavaScript that was generated when I made the buttons... do I have to do something with that?
If anyone can think of a way to get my buttons to work interactively in Dreamweaver I would really appreciate it! Thank you so much! Here's the reason why Alec suggested (and I totally agree) that the FWs built dropdown menus shouldn't be used.

There is a new alternative which are the Spry Menus, but even those aren't something that I'd choose for a navbar for a site of mine.
Here's a tutorial that helps you build a complete CSS driven dropdown menu - user friendly, easily to build and definitely SEO friendly.

1 year to the day of this post, Dreamweaver CC still sucks! I just updated and I'm sincerely regretting it. I want CS6 back now! Can someone tell me how to "Command Z" my upgrade when I have creative cloud? Seriously, you removed the refresh button? I'm not talking about the Refresh TAG, I'm talking about the little button at the top that wasn't hurting anyone, and kept my page from jumping all over the place when I click back in design view. I don't care if F5 does the same thing, F5 isn't what I've been using for 5 years. What's even more stupid, is that the refresh button is there when you click on LIVE.... Tell me how this is functional! Obviously, if I switch to live mode it's going to be updated, yet you put the refresh button there? Come on!
I used to hold Adobe to a much higher standard, now I feel like they're trying to be Apple... Spewing out new [inferior] technology as fast as they can just to make an extra billion dollars. This is a duplicate of this one: Bring back the Refresh button in Dreamweaver (Was: Dreamweaver CC "simplifying")

Creating DOWNLOAD button in dreamweaver
Hi there,
I'm trying to create a DOWNLOAD button in dreamweaver so the
viewer can download the Quicktime video onto their own desktop to
keep, in addition to simply viewing it off my site. How would I do
that? I tried googling it, but no luck.
thanks

Adobe Bridge Buttons in Dreamweaver, Flash, and Fireworks?
Hello,
Adobe says that the button to connect to Adobe bridge is in
every CS3 application. I can find it in Photoshop, Illustrator, and
even Contribute, a former Macromedia project, but none of the other
Macromedia projects (Dreamweaver, Flash, Fireworks) have one. Am I
missing it, or is this a glitch?
Thanks,
DylanGo to Edit > Prefs > Enable Version Cue. Once you do
that look in the lower left corner of the flash
application - you should see "Open" with an arrow. Clicking
on it will popup "Reveal in Bridge" button.

Hey Everyone
So i have these Flash buttons on my website(which is done in
Dreamweaver), and when i go to 'test' the site... the buttons will
work when the page first loads(Home)... but if i go to click on a
link, lets say "Contact", the buttons aren't there anymore! And if
i go back to "Home" they arent there either!!
Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to this
problem?!
Thanxs much in advance!!

Do you have the Flash buttons on all web pages was my point.
In other words,
did you have the same Flash buttons on the Contact page?

wrong with it?
/intro_buttons.swf
Is the intro_buttons.swf in the web site root folder -- what
/ means? On the
local drive the / could mean the root folder of the computer
if you are not
testing under
http://.

Extending buttons in Dreamweaver 8 site
Hi,
I need to now whether I can create a button that extends into
more buttons without using a flash movieclip button for this in
dreamweaver. The effect sould be that the extra buttons extends
from the main button in a vertical direction and as the mouse moves
over them they should change in color.

Are There Preset Flash Buttons In Dreamweaver CS4
I have upgraded from Dreamweaver MX to CS4 and I'm looking for preset flash buttons that I can just insert within dreamweaver and I can't find any. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? I don't know how to create flash buttons just yet and If i need to start the journey of learning how please let me know. I'm editing a site I created in MX so I want matching buttons and such lol.
There aren't any flash buttons in DWCS4 anymore see Deprecated features in this link:

No more Flash Buttons in Dreamweaver CS4?
The removal of Flash button extensions are pretty pathetic. How much development money and time does it take to include and already existing feature?
Also, if no one uses them (Ya I was told in a previous post I seen) The why is Microsoft Expression Web including something sort of like them in their software!
The removal of these, after I have bought the already overpriced CS4 from CS3, has prompted me to look at other software development tools.
I been using Dreamweaver since the 1.0 version but now I'm starting to use Expression Studio for my development needs. I think it sucks that simple navigation buttons and includes are removed when they are included in even $20 pieces of Web Development software.
Some idiot actually posted that if someone needs to use navigation extensions, then they should use the CS3 for adding them! Why upgrade then?
For all the money your charging for your software it should make coffee for me too!I have locked this thread. It's not really a discussion - just a rant. and it's a duplicate of a previous post.

Link Custom Flash Buttons in Dreamweaver?
Hello,
I created an animated button in flash and tried to link it up
in Dreamweaver with no success. I don’t understand why I can
use generic animated buttons that DW offers and have a link for
them but, when I create my own DW doesn’t offer a link. All
I’m trying to do is link to a different page on my site. I
tried to use “getURL” in the action script in flash and
got that to work but, I really didn’t want to open a new
browser. Can anyone help?
60vetteIf you want to use Flash for navigation, consider this -
1. Some people don't have Flash installed - what do they do?
2. Search engines don't parse Flash links - your site will
not be spidered
3. Screen assistive devices don't parse Flash links - what
will those users
do?
4. DW cannot maintain links within a Flash movie, so if you
move or rename
a linked file, your navigation will break - what will you do?
It's usually a very bad idea for these reasons...
In addition, you cannot add a link to a Flash element using
HTML. That link
must be added in the Flash itself.
