BW 70 connect to Informix UD connect

Hi i need connect bw 70 to an informix database.
how i can do? db connect  not supported informix.
If it possible to UD connect? how i can do?
appreciate any help
regards
Angel

Hi Angel:
Since access from BW 3.0 to an Informix Database is supported via DB Connect, I assume access from BW 7.0 to Informix is also supported, please refer to the following document:
"Transferring Data with DB Connect"

  • Data Federator on Unix - Need to connect to Informix

    Hi,
We are planning to Deploy Data Federator in Linux - SuSE 64 bit environment. We also have a need to connect to Informix and Teradata databases.
According to the supported platforms document, only ODBC drivers are available to connect to Informix and Teradata databases.
Is there a driver bridge available for these ODBC connectivity only databases?
Update: Didnt notice there were Unix ODBC drivers available. I think we should be fine.
Will it be supported if wel use the Informix Type 4 JDBC driver (http://www-01.ibm.com/software/data/informix/tools/jdbc/) as a Generic JDBC driver? Is there any performance impact?
    Appreciate the assistance.
    Thanks,
    Thiag.

How will you access your third-party module in a NT box from UNIX? If it will be over TCP/IP, you may use the UTL_TCP package.

  • INFORMIX JDBC Connectivity

    Hi,
I try to connect to INFORMIX SE 7.25 Machine using con url:
    jdbc:informix-sqli://hostIP:port/dbname:INFORMIXSERVER=servername;user=abc;password=xyz
The problem is that my database is not in the users' assigned space in the server. Instead it is in a different location/directory in the same server.
Is there a way I can point or use the full path of my database. How and where do I do that.
    If I do:
    sqli://hostIP:port/data/dbname:INFORMIXSERVER=servername;user=abc;password=xyz
    I get error.
'/data' is the directory on the Linux server where the database is residing.
If some one knows Informix DBase well, will the DBPATH env variable will resolve this.
    any help will be appreciated
    cheers
    Hassan

    I've got it sorted.
If anyone is interested, here it is how.
Use javax.sql.DataSource connections as that API is more flexible and allow you to specify the full path of the Database.

  • Unable to connect to Informix DB from Jdeveloper

    Hello,
I am using Jdeveloper version: 10.1.3.5.0.4306.
I have created a DB connection to Informix database.
When I try to connect, it takes more than 30 minutes to connect.
    Has anyone faced this issue?

JDeveloper does not provide a default selection for Informix. What is selected in Connection Type?
Also, what JDBC driver and url are specified?

  • How do with connect  to informix database?

how do with connect to informix database?I think use own sminformix.jar with java studio creator

    Two steps:
    1. Tell Creator about the Informix drivers:
Data Sources -> Edit Database Server Types -> New
Navigate to the appropriate jar files; besides sminformix.jar, you will need smbase.jar and smutil.jar. They can be found in the Java Studio Creator release, for use within the IDE.
Fill in the other parts of the dialog. I don't know what form Informix URL's take; you may need to look on the Informix site for that.
    2. Create an Informix Data Source, using the newly defined Server Type.

We have IBM Informix Client install in Wndows 2003 and connection ODBC setup and connected sucessfully.
    The setup are as follows:
    1) ODBC
System DSN name: capatibak (connected successfully)
    2) C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\hs\admin
Copy the file inithsodbc.ora to initCAPATIBAK.ora and set the following

    5) Shutdown and restart Listener

  • Connecting To Informix

I am attempting to connect to an informix database, but im having trouble doing so. I get the error "INFORMIXSERVER has to be specified". I understand how to do that when not working with a J2EE app server.
Whilst looking around, I have noticed the words "J2EE Connector Architecture" appear a few times and im guessing this is what i need to learn in order to connect to informix.
Now, not knowing anything about said architecture, I was just wondering if someone could tell me if this is the path I need to follow in order to connect to informix.
If so, Why is it possible to connect to say postgres without using a connector, but requiring one for informix
    Thanks for your help.
    tobes

You don't need a connector to connect to the database. You just need a JDBC driver library and create the appropriate JDBC data resource with the application server admin tool:

  • Difference between connection pooling and simple connection

Anybody please tell me what is the Difference between connection pooling and simple connection and also where we define connection pooling and how.
    Thanks
    Please reply soon
    amitindia

Creating and closing connection to the database is a relatively slow process. Equally connections use database resources so you can't just open as many as you want.
A connection pool maintains a number of open connections throughout the lifetime of the application. Instead of opening and closing the connections your application just "borrows" them from the pool when they're needed.
If the pool runs out of connections it will usually create new ones as needed until you reach some predefined upper limit.
A good connection pool will also manage connections which have failed for any reason, and report code which fails to return connections to the pool (ie connection leaks).
The number of connections created at startup is referred to as the "low water mark" and the maximum number that the pool will allow to be opened at any given time is the "high water mark". If no connections are available client code will generally block until one is released.
If by "defined" you mean where can you get a working implementation then your database or application server vendor is likely to provide one. Also the Apache Jakarta Commons includes [url http://jakarta.apache.org/commons/dbcp/]an implementation which you can use with any JDBC driver.
    Dave.

I'd recommend that you not use the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver to connect to SQL Server. M$ and jTDS are two free type IV JDBC drivers that you should use instead. Put those JARs in the WEB-INF/lib directory.
The database URL you're using is not correct if you change drivers. Consult the docs to find out what the proper syntax is.

  • Cannot refresh table - test connection works fine but refresh gives "We couldn't refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server." error.

I'm having some difficulty updating a table in my powerpivot data model. The data for the table is stored in a local excel file; if I go to
Existing Connections select the connection and do a test then everything is successful. When however I try to refresh that particular table I get the following error:
"We couldn’t refresh the connection. Please go to existing connections and verify they connect to the file or server."
In the past I had this and it was an authentication issue, the files are stored on SharePoint and I wasn't logged in to Sharepoint - I have however checked this and it can't be the issue because I have other tables linked to other excel files in the same
location that are refreshing without issue. Can anyone think of what may be causing it?
I have even tried creating a new local excel with the same data, added it to the data model and then tried a refresh and I I get exactly the same issue.
Are there any known issues with refreshing data from an Excel file if, after the initial import, you add columns to the table in the excel file I was wondering if this might contribute?
    Thanks

    Hi Maracles,
    Thanks for your post.
From your description, I tried to reproduce this issue on my test environment. However, everything is fine for me. Could you please post the specific version of SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel?
You can try to use a trace file to troubleshoot errors in PowerPivot. If this issue still persists, please try to reinstall SQL Server PowerPivot for Excel to see if this helps.
