BW Workbook Queries

Hi ,
I have some  BW questions:
1)Is it possible to change my settings to "zero decimals" for my whole workbook?
2)Is it possible to include more queries in one workbook? I tried with the "design mode" but this is not always that user friendly. Isn't there a functionality that allows us to include an existing query, including the layout (comparible with the old BW)
3)Is it possible to include a query in an existing Excell analysis. As I see it, we can only do the opposite: Starting from a query and re building the analysis. The reason for this is that we have some complicated analysis sheets in excell with the old BW queries integrated and it would be easier to just replace the query.

Hi
I can't understood perfectly what ur asking
but as per understanding, you mean we can't do complicated caluculation?
If that is ur question it is not true u can do any type of caluculation and conditions

  • Workbook Queries

    Hi All,
Can any one tell me howmany queries can be fitted in a workbook and what is the capacity of Records in a single work book.i m using sap BI 7.0 . Can we make common selection for all Queries in a single work book.If do so please tell me how to do it.
    Regards,
    Dolly.

    Hi
There is no limit as such for the no. of queries that can be embedded in a workbook, however you shouln't put too many queries also in a workbook as you might face some issues as the query count increases as all the queries will refresh and fetch the data from the database simultaneously.
The excel limitation for the no. of rows is 65535 you may get a memory error if the record count goes beyond that.
For making a common selection criteria for all the workbook sheets, you just have to use that variable in all the individual queries and insert them in the workbook. When you refresh the workbook it will prompt for the variable selection and it will be applied to all the workbook queries.
    Hope this helps.

  • Upgrade Workbooks & Queries

    Hi!
We are currently in the middle of upgrading to NW2004s from 3.5. So far, we have completed a test upgrade on the development system.
When opening workbooks, we can see that the query and workbook objects being upgraded “on the fly”, which decrease performance. To avoid this we have to resave the workbook, in order to convert all objects.
    So my questions are:
    1) Does anyone know if it.s both the workbook and the query that has to be resaved?
    2) Which “upgrade strategy” has been used when it comes to migrating workbook and queries?
To let the end-users access via the 3.5 add-ins to start with
*To resave all the queries and/or workbooks after been upgraded
To let the end-user resave when appropriate
    Or any other methods?
    Thanks in advance!
    Bjørn

    Hello,
I thought I would share our experience with workbook conversion issues so far. We are upgrading the toolset after having done the technical upgrade, implemented new analysis authorizations, and implemented support packs up to 12.
In our area we have a set of reports (workbooks)that are formatted to a very high degree, using Excel more than the BEx (3.5) settings, although we have both. Some examples are 1) in general the column widths and texts have to remain static to retain the proportions of the report and for printing, and 2) we redid BEx Exception cell formatting with Excel Conditional cell formatting since the users wanted blue as a condition (this is what we did, maybe there is a better way...), 3) graphs, print settings etc.
In order to make some of these settings in 3.5 we had to turn off the query property "adjust format after refresh".  I believe the same setting in 7.0 is "Adjust formatting" checkbox on the Analysis Grid properties.  Another setting we used extesively in 3.5 was the query setting "adjust column width on refresh - set to "do not adjust".  In 7.0 the equivalent is also on the Analysis grid properties "Auto Fit".
My thought right now is that the "Adjust formatting" is not carrying over during the upgrade process, in other words turning off "adjust format after refresh" seems to convert to having the " Adjust formatting" checkbox checked, which wipes out everything after refresh, including the standard BEx format.  I have come up with a way to manually convert them, but ultimately involves a fair amount of rework.  Many of our other users create workbooks and queries in an adhoc process, so we are communicating to them that they will need to go through this process, and there may be rework.  We are finding the 3.5 vs. 7.0 workbook creation process to be significantly different which was unexpected for us at least.
Hope that experience might be helpful, we are still working on it ourselves.

  • Error message when updating Workbook queries

I have a workbook with multiple queries. If I use the task pane to update the query it works fine, but if I use the Data|Connections|Refresh or try to update via VBA I get the attached error. Anyone has experienced the same issue? The error is referring
to another query (the BMC) which my query merges and combines with other queries.
    Regards,
    Mads

    Spot on, Ehren.
    I have created a function
    let GetValue=(rangeName) =>
    let
    name = Excel.CurrentWorkbook(){[Name=rangeName]}[Content],
    value = name{0}[Column1]
    in
    value
    in GetValue
    which I then use in
    let
    Source = Excel.Workbook(File.Contents(GetValue("PathBMC"))),
So I have a named range in my Excel file that I use as input. I want to be dynamic since I can't be sure where the client has the external files and the client shouldn't be "messing" with the power query part.
Can you see an alternative solution?

  • Workbooks,queries,reports

    hello guys
I am reading  SAP material about Reporting.....
in which realtime situations,do we use workbooks.....?
Can anyone give example of somequeries and workbooks together...?
    thank you....
    BR,

    Hi
Workbooks contain the Formatted Query Outputs, they contain Active Link for the Queries that are embedded into them. Through this Active Link it traces all the Technical changes made to the queries when we refresh the work book it gives the Output of changes done with Query.
In real time the User Roles are assigned with the Work books with the relevant queries, to make sure that we are restricting the Data set which is not supposed to be available for the Unauthorized Users. Most probably the Financial Queries will be Restricted with Roles  by giving them Work books with required set of result output.
help.sap.com would be the best source to see the work books.

  • Usage of a specific infoobject in Queris/Workbooks

    Hi everybody.
I'm going to add some nav. attribute to 0vendor infobject, and than
I need to update many queries in which 0vendor exists by replacing the
0vendor by the new nav. attribute.
I need to now in which workbooks/queries that are in use (in the last 30 days)
I have to make the changes.
    Please help !!!
    Thanks
    M.B.

I'm affraid you'll have to dig into some tables... here are a few that might be usefull
RSRREPDIR (you can find all queries linked to a Cube or get at least the guid of a query)
RSZELTXREF (with the guid you found before, you can retrieve ALL the query elements)
RSZELTDIR (gives more details about the elements... )
it'll depend whether you want to look on variables on the InfoObject or just the use of the InfoObject in rows/columns how far you have to dig... obviously you can dig the other way

  • No data in SMOREPMA table even when the BW workbooks are visible

    Hi,
We’ve connected the CRM system and the BW system successfully. In BW System, the workbooks, queries and the users with respective roles have been assigned. Now using the transaction SMOBILEBW in CRM, we are able to view the workbooks and the queries.
The replication object REP_BOREPMA_WRTE, has been updated with relevant filters for queries and the workbooks. Before we moved to the mobile clients for the synchronization, I checked the table SMOREPMA table, and couldn’t find any information about these BW workbooks and queries. I understand that there should be 2 entries each, one for workbook and one for query, then it works successfully.
When will the data be updated to the table SMOREPMA? And how is it done? Automatically??
Are we missing anything here? Please help us.
    Regards,

    Hi,
We've followed the instructions given at help.sap.com documentation.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm50/helpdata/en/fc/c5154de9d611d3b2b50050da403d6a/frameset.htm
Finally, we're able to view the workbooks, queries and the roles assigned. And there are no entries for the Workbooks sent to CRM, in the CDB table SMOREPMA.
Also, it is no where mentioned in the documentation that the entries for workbooks and the queries, will be updated in the CDB table (SMOREPMA). When will this be updated? and how?
    Please help us.

  • Publishing bw workbooks to the portal

I am trying to find out what portal role a bw designer would need in order to publish workbooks\queries to KM in the portal and also to publish reports as an iview.  We have a few bw folks who are trying to accomplish this.  In the portal I had assigned them to Business Planning, Business Explorer and Business Intelligence roles as well as Content Admin adn System admin roles.  They said they tried to publish a bw workbook to the portal but were not able to, so for the heck of it I made some of them super admins and then they were able to publish the reports to the portal.  I do not want to leave them as super admins, but I cannot find any documention on sap help that tells me what portal roles they should be in.

    Hello Kathleen,
You need to investigate why the developers were able to publish the reports when thy were assigned the super admin role.
Even in our landscape some of the BW developers are publishing BW reports , as of now we have assigned them Contnet Admin role. and they are doing fine with that.
Let me know if that helps.

  • Problem With Workbook

    Hi Guys
I have a problem when one workbook.
    I made the following steps.
    1. I have in BW Dev. the workbook with the 2 queries.
    2. I create a Role with this workbook.
    3. I made 2 transport orders with the Workbook & Queries and the roles.
In BW QA I try to execute the workbook and show me the message "Cannot find workbook on server"
I review in QA and the queries are also the Role with the workbook. We apply support package 17 but it didn't solve the problem.
    Help Me Please.

Hello, what is the solution to this problem?  We're experiencing a similar problem in production with the user BW ID, please see description of the problem below.
A user usually runs her workbooks/reports from the BEX Browser (BW 3.5), now she is unable to execute the workbooks/reports.
I can logon to her computer with my own BW ID and it ran OK.
I had Security create a "copy" of her BW ID.
The "copy" of her BW ID runs the report with NO errors from the BEX Browser using her computer.
I had another user run the report from the BEX Browser on his computer with his own BW ID, it ran correctly.
I had her go to his computer, logon to the BEX Browser with her BW ID and run the report, she received an error.
It is “definitely” something with her BW ID.
Also, I had Security remove all of her roles, save the ID and then add the roles back, it didn't fix it.
I talked to Security and they thinks it may have something to do with her “Personalization”.
Any helps would be greatly appreciated and highest reward points.
    Best regards,
    Niki

  • System Error in program CL_RSR executing queries

    Hi,
We have several queries created from multiprovider X and these queries are included in a workbook. Multiprovider is active and fine (I have used the programs RSCOMPCONS and RSR_MULTIPROV_CHECK return status OK).
When I open the workbook the followings error messages are showed (before selection screen):
    - System error in class SAPMSSSY1 method: UNCAUGHT_EXCEPTION
    - System error in program CL_RSR and FORM GET_INITIAL_CHAVL_OFF-02-
We are looking sap notes (we are in the new version 7.30, Support package 5) in order to solve this error but We don't find the solution.
    Please, could you help me?
    Thanks!

Might require to collect the workbooks, queries along with the MP & perform a transport. Please collect the roles also. This must solve.

  • Documenting EUL and Workbook information

Recently, my current client asked me if there was any easy way to document all the EUL information in one file. I generated the below pdf document
    Check this http://www.appsbi.com/discoverer_eul_snapshot_report.pdf
Sample Discoverer EUL and Workbook Generated Document,
but before I present this to my client I would like your opinion on whether the document is presentable, does it have all the necessary information, any flaws, any suggestions?
    Thanks
    Nilesh
    http://www.appsbi.com

    Hi,
Most of the components of this document uses the seeded EUL workbook queries. The problem with the EUL workbooks is there is still a manual process involved in running each of the worksheets whereas this document generation is completely auto and fully configurable.
    Thanks

  • BExAnalyzer: Multiple use of the same Query in a Workbook - Command Button

    Hy Gurus,
in my Workbook I have in Sheet 1 one Analysis Grid, defined as DP_1
in Sheet 2 it is an other Analysis Grid defined as DP_2
Both Data-Provider refer to the same technical BW Query.
If I add a Button (from the BEx Toolbar) and try to refresh the first query (with commands: PROCESS_VARIABLES and VAR_SUBMIT) both Queries will be refreshed with the same variable value, even if i mention "DP_1" as Data_Provider in the button.
But I don't want, that the second query is been refreshed too (with the same variable value).
In the workbook Settings, I already checked on: Allow refresh Function for Individual Queries.
    Can anybody help?
    Regards
    Klaus

It is not a solution to copy the query. We will need this feature for about 50 Workbooks/Queries and so it is the problem to keep the copied queries consistent
If I refresh the Queries manual with the the "Change Variable Values" Button I get a pop-up with two fields where i can input two different values - here it works.
Can I achieve the same with the command buttons?
The definition of the first command button is like this:
    Name                       Index     Value
    DATA_PROVIDER     1           DP_1
    CMD                           1          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    SUBCMD                    1          VAR_SUBMIT
Command Range: A2:C5 (there is the Name, Value, Sign and Operator of the Variable).
    The second command Button:
    Name                       Index     Value
    DATA_PROVIDER     1           DP_2
    CMD                           1          PROCESS_VARIABLES
    SUBCMD                    1          VAR_SUBMIT
Command Range: A12:C15 (with a different Value of the Variable).
If there is one query in the workbook it works fine, but not for two queries, even if I change the Index of the second button to 2.
    Thank you for your hints.
    Regards
    Klaus
