C++ samples from the SMP

I have downloaded the c++ examples from the SMP. I have compiled it successfully but when I go to run in debug I get the following output.

What enviromet are you useing(visual studio .net?)
What verson of sbo are you using it against? (6.5 or 2004)
I got something similar and the problem was that the path to the sbo gui api was wrong and then I had to do a buld clean after that everything worked. But I think you problem is a little more difficult.

Hi I had a similar issue to you, I could connect to the router but no internet. Here is my explanation of how I sorted it.....I hope this works for you.
*To anyone that is reading this it appears that the problem lay in the airport setting: IPV6: set to 'Automatically'. I turned it off (after reading someones plight on MacFixIt) & everything is back to normal.*
*The worrying thing is although my problem was extreme with other computers on the network being locked out nothing was changed, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Reading on other forums it appears to be a problem with laptops (but I could be mistaken). A lot of people on the Macfixit forum are complaining of network just dropping out even when they are next to the router.*
*I hope this is the fix (although I dont know why it suddenly went to sh*t!) & I hope my hair pulling & trawling the forums can help someone else out.*

Sampling from the iPad into an MPC ????

I have several synthesizer apps on my iPad 2 for making music. I was wondering has anyone ever tried sampling synth sounds from the ipad directly into one of the RECORD IN inputs on an MPC??? I'm assuming I can just run a line in from the headphone input on the iPad 2 into the RECORD IN input on the MPC, and then arm the MPC in sample mode, and whatever I play using one of the synthesizer apps on the iPad will be sampled into the MPC. I attempted to do this a little while ago, but it didn't work quite as I expected. The sounds played very low I'm going tomorrow to pick up some stereo inputs hoping this fixes the situation. Just wanted to see if anyone else was doing this and what their experiences were.

I want to run my program with continuous aquisition and write data to file when a button is pressed and get the most recent samples from the DAQ board.

This is an update to a question I asked earlier. I am still trying to solve the problem. I have included a zip file with a library file. The file to open in pj_pushbutton.vi. I have placed comments explaining the issues and problems in this vi and the subvi's.
When I push my button to write the data to file I think it is writing the data that has already been stored in the buffer and writing to file all at once. I want the data that is taken from the DAQ board from the time that I press the Write File button. How do I do this?

Hi,
1. In AI read, you need to set the Read/Search option to "Relative to End of Data".
2. Next you should not start AI Read VI until you press the Write to File. I am attaching an example VI below. Please see if it helps.

Anyone else having problems downloading samples from the iBooks store?

A favorite author of mine tweeted to his fans that a free 80-page sample of his next book was available on the iBooks store: https://t.co/7ZfhpWYcfE
But when I get to the store and click 'Get Sample', nothing happens.
I can't seem to find any other discussion on this in the forums (perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough). Anyone else have this problem? Any ways around it? I don't get an error message, but my mouse pointer seems to "hang" for a second after clicking the button, as if something's about to happen. Nothing does.

Reset all settings
Settings > General > Reset > Reset all Settings.
This will return all iDevice settings to factory defaults... you will not lose any data.... But you will have to re-enter all of the device settings.

I am trying to find an image that was on the Photoshop 3 samples from the mid '90s. It was islands reflected in a still lake with stars making the islands look like they were floating.

How do I go about finding this image? I have the original PS 3 disk but it is to old to load the program now. It was an image of a lake with islands that appeared to be floating in the night sky as the stars were reflected in the still water.

Not at all familiar with Photoshop 3. Have you tried a Google search?

My black Box doesnt match the colour of the image it is sampled from when printed, suggestions?

I have a black image covering half a page whilst placed next to it is a black box which has been sampled from the colour of the image, the CYMK are the same yet when printed the box comes out a different shade of black. suggestions?

There are a couple of things that could be going on, and as an aside, trying to match a solid background to a sampled area in an image is seldom successfule as there is too much variability in the actual color in most images.
The first possible issue is that the sample you are taking could be inaccurate. Are you sampling in ID or in Photoshop? You mentioned CMYK, and I don't believe ID will sample the CMYK in a placed image, but uses the preview instead. If you are sampling in Photoshop you are either sampling an average of the pixels in a square area, or a single pixel, depending on the eyedropper settings, and either choice is likely not to be truly representative in many cases. A further complication is if you are sampling an image that has a differnt color profile from the working space in ID.
The other big possibility is that your printer uses what is know as a dual-layer or CT-Line (for continuous Tone/Line art) processor and handles the raster image differently from the vector object created in ID. Truncate 4 characters from the end of a field

How would I go about trimming the last for characters in a field.

If you are truncating it using the Picture, it should always work. If you are doing it via the !format event, does your data file have a field with the same name as where you put the code?
I have to admit I dont have a need for truncation so Ive not done any testing besides Test Presentment. The SSN sample came from an actual production form. There isnt anything Im aware of that has to be added to jfpreamble we dont have any form (out of 100s) that has custom jfpreamble coding.
FYI: We almost exclusively use global field definitions in our data files. If you are using field field definitions that might make a difference. For example, this is a sample from the end of a data file:

In the first example the data is only defined once, followed by the forms it is to be applied to. In the second example if the data appears on two forms it has to be defined for each form.
I dont know if this would cause a difference in your truncation problem.

Kinect Explorer WPF C# read depth data from the file and conversion to skeleton

I am using Kinect sensor to do some research on biometrics. Since it is impossible to find people to collect some samples, I would like to use samples from the TUM - GAID database, where there exist Color View and Depth View (in .raw format) samples. Therefore,
I need to read these samples from the file and do a batch processing, instead of performing real-time collecting of samples (where I can take automatically the Skeleton view using the Kinect SDK). So, I need help on
1. Reading the data from the file (instead of activating the Kinect sensor) and give this data as an input for conversion to a skeleton
2. Read the .raw files

There are a number of problems with the sample Applications included in the
Developer's kit. These need to manually fixed in order to get the demos to work.
#1: Solaris Only
The install of the iFS Development Kit, replaces the existing adk.jar with a new
one containing some additional classes. Unfortunately the install process does not
set the correct privileges on the new version of adk.jar. Please ensure that the
file $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/lib/adk.jar is world readable.

This issue will be resolved on the next drop of the Oracle Internet File System
development kit.
#2: Generic
There is a problem with the way in which the login.jsp establishes a connection to
the repository. The current code makes incorrect assumptions about the name of the
iFS Service and the schema password.

In order to connect to the repository 4 pieces of information are required.
1. The iFS User Name
2. The iFS User's password
3. The properties file to be used
4. The database password of the user who owns the iFS Schema

This code has been changed so that it accepts the four agruments that are required
to connect to the repository and uses them to connect to the repository. Note that
we have provided the comple te source code to this file in order to make it simple
to deploy the revised version of the code. Simply cut and paste this code into a
new file called WebCommandLogin.java in the directory
$ORACLE_HOME/ifs/ifsdevkit/sampleapps/webcommandapp/
Compile the java class.
Copy the classfile to $ORACLE_HOME/ifs/custom_classes/ifsdevkit/sampleapps/webcommandapp/
Stop and Start all of the protocol servers.
This issue will be resolved on the next drop of the Oracle Internet File System
development kit.
#3. Making the BaseRendererClass available to the Protocol Servers
Note this step is not required if you have the 1.0.8.3 patch set installed.
Install the BaseRenderer Class. The BaseRenderer class is delivered in the jar file
ifsdevkit.jar and can be used to simplify the task of creating a custom renderer.
Unfortunately the jar file containing this class is not referenced in any of the Classpaths
used by the iFS protocol servers. This means that they will not be able to load any
customer renderers that extend BaseRenderer. In order to make BaseRenderer available
to the Protocol Servers it need to be placed in the appropriate directory under
<ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom_classes.
Extract the class from the ifsdevkit.jar.
ifsdevkit.jar is located in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib after the devkit has been installed.
jar -xvf ifsdevkit.jar
extracted: META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
extracted: BaseRenderer.class
Create the following directory heirachy in <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/custom classes
oracle/ifs/server/renderers
Copy <ORACLE_HOME>/ifs/lib/BaseRenderer.class to
<ORACLE_HOME/ifs/custom_classes/oracle/ifs/server/renderers
That should do it.

Looking for a sample of the Flash Export from Encore CS3

I am close to upgrading to the CS3 Production Premium and one of the features that intrigues me is the Flash export from Encore CS3. I have searched the Adobe site without success for a sample of what an exported project looks like and functions on the web. Can anyone point me to a on-line sample of an exported project? Thanks in advance :)

'Black Gaps' in Flash usually come from the Flash trying to locate & load the next Flash file. Without a Pre-Loader, you will probably always have this... especially if your quality is set too high. This equates to longer load/buffer times which means there is nothing to display until there is enough video loaded in the buffer to play.
If your ultimate goal is to create Video for the Web... you'll need to learn proper techniques for producing video for the web. It is much different than producing video for TV or DVD. On the web you have to compress your video a lot more therefore you should not use a lot of Motion/Movement in your Characters, Camera, Media, Motion Backgrounds, etc. The less Motion/Movement you have means you can lower your quality settings but still get awesome looking video & good load times eliminating the Black Gaps and making an all around smoother internet presentation/experience.

Error in accessing the sample application content from the OBIEE 11g

I installed OBIEE 11g + Oracle 11g database on one machine. Everything went smoothly with no issues.
I can connection to the database from SQLPLUS.
Then I followed instructions to deploy sample app. After everything is done, when I try to access the dashboards, reports etc from the OBIEE 11g home page , I get the error below.
I am stuc kand dont know how to proceed. I verified tnsnames.ora and everything seems good.
In the SampleAPp.RPD, I set DB_SID as "ORCL" and DB_HOST as my computer name (along with domain name). No idea how to proceed from here..
I really appreciate any help.

1) Was the oracle installed in multiple instances ? if yes set the Variable path correctly pointing to your right folder
Yes, oracle had multiple instances. I tried copying the tnsnames.ora from my oracle home to the Oracle_BI1/network/admin directory as 11g apparetnly comes with a Oracle client as BIFACTs suggested in his/her reply. I put the same in the path variable
2) Try to ping the service_name tnsping service_name(SID) from command prompt
This works.
3) check whether you may have "white spaces" in tnsnames.ora file at starting of entry
No white spaces appeated
I still see the same issue! I logged in as developer credentials as mentioned the sample app documentation.
I get the same "cannot connect to database" error.
I once in a while see an issue with javahost not starting. Not sure what is the impact of javahsot not running and all the other managed processes running.

Well... it's not actually an iTunes or even an Apple question is it? But you can use either Shazam or Soundhound.
If you do a search for both of them, you will find the various options available to you, which include apps for portable devices and in the case of Shazam, a work-round that allows you to use an online option using your computer's microphone on either a PC or Mac.
There may be other services as well, but I know these two.
I do not receive any reward (financial or otherwise) as a result of mentioning either Shazam or Soundhound.
