CAC/smartcard reader for iphone

Any word on development of a CAC reader for the iphone 3g? This would make the iphone much more feasible for the department I work with -- especially since all of our email is PKI enabled --

I doubt we will ever see bluetooth file sharing on the iPhone because of DRM, copyright, and potential bluetooth virus issues. Music companies hate people sharing tunes via bluetooth, so it won't happen.

Do you have any more information about this? The domain "ipostcarder.com" seems to be on a blacklist of domains used for SPAMming, and the web pages at ewcdma.com don't really have a whole lot of useful information. Is this reader a real product that can be ordered or at least sampled?

  • Why can't I use/build an SD card reader for iPhone?

I have searched and searched for an SD card reader for iPhone. Apple offers the camera connection kit for iPad but for some reason they have made it incompatible with iPhone. This doesn't make a whole lot of since to me unless they are trying to drive users to buy an iPad. So far I have only found one SD card reader that claims to work on iPhone: http://www.zoommediaplus.com/index.html . If they have actually made it work with iPhone and the app is in the App Store then Apple must allow apps to transffer data from SD cards. If so I can make one myself and build the hardware to go with it since the Apple SD card reader doesn't work on iPhone.
I guess my main questions are:
Does Apple allow SD Card readers for iPhone?
         if not:
              Why don't they?
Can anyone tell me where it is documented that you can not use SD Cart readers with iPhone?
How does ZoomMediaPlus get their app in the App Store if it isn't allowed?
         if they do:
Why aren't their more SD Card readers for iPhone?
Why doesn't Apple's lightning SD Card read work with iPhone?

Of course they forbid it.  You realize that an iPhone 6+ owner cannot use the Apple Lightning SD Card Reader, don't you?  We know the support for their own SD Card Reader is built into iOS 8 because it works with iPads.  Therefore, Apple intentionally turned the support OFF for iPhones.
and it appears no one else has bothered to attempt to produce one
No, Apple forbids any third parties from producing one.  They produce them for iPads but they cannot work on iPhones, because Apple chooses not to permit such functionality (i.e., they forbid it).  Third parties produce such adapters for Android, so obviously they would want to do the same for iOS so they could sell more.
You're recommendation for AirStash is uninformed.  I've tried it and found it to be a clunky time-consuming workaround if all you want to do is import some photos from an SD card.  Using Photos in iOS to import photos is a far more elegant solution - an Apple solution that just works (if you purchased an iPad).
If it bothers you that iPhones do not work with Apple's own Lightning SD Card Reader, then I suggest you leave feedback instead of attacking those who point it out:

  • HT4528 Is there a sd card reader for iPhone 5

Need to know if there's a sd card reader for iPhone 5

Be very careful when considering bossodg's answer ...
The compatibility list toward the bottom only indicates iPads, not iPhones.  Further, there is a question down toward the bottom specifically asking if the product works with the iPhone 4S.  The answer given is "no".

  • Cannot open PDF on Adobe Reader for iPhone

When I click on the file to open in the App it says, "The document has features that are not supported in this version of Adobe Reader". I have ensured that I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Reader onto my phone. The PDF, "material is copyrighted and does have digital rights content protections on printing, copying and saving", there is no opportunity for me to enter a password or other verification. I can open this file on my computer, and I can also open other PDF's on my iPhone using the Adobe Reader App. Any help would be appreciated as I am trying to access study material for a rigorous upcoming exam, all materials were purchased legally.

Adobe Reader mobile products (Adobe Reader for iOS, Adobe Reader for Android, etc.) do not support DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected PDF documents even in the latest version.
Please use the desktop version of Adobe Reader XI for a Windows or Mac computer to open the PDF document instead.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Is it possible to view "Attach File" annotations in Adobe Reader for iPhone 5s?

Most of my annotations transfer well from Adobe Reader XI to Reader for iOS but "Attach File" annotations don't seem to carry over. I would like to be able to attach image and video files and have them function on an iOS device.
    Versions:
    iOS: 7.0.4
    Adobe Reader iOS: 11.2.1
    Adobe Reader Windows: XI 11.0.0
It would also be nice to have the same comment tracking functionality that exists in the desktop version. Knowing when and by whom each comment was made would be helpful in the field.

Thanks for your feedback. Adobe Reader for iOS does not support attaching of images and videos at the moment.
We have taken note of both your requests.

  • AT&T Not Reading for iPhone MMS w/3.0.....***???

Alright, i'm new to these forums. Ever since they announced the 3.0 updates, i've been anticipating the MMS feature. Finally I would be able to send people pics without having to awkwardly ask and take down their email address.
Then, OFCOURSE, days before the release of 3.0... AT&T states they are not ready for MMS with the iPhone and supply no reason at all for it. That is complete "insert bad words* (all of them.)
I"m sorry but there is no excuse for this what so ever. To be the ONLY U.S. supplier and operator of the most popular phone in US and NOT be ready for the biggest update the phone has had is just ridiculous in every sense of the word.

I think most here already know about it. I've heard various reasons/excuses for the delay. Everything from AT&T wants to squeeze MMS into the SMS band and thats not working out so good, to AT&T placed opt-out codes (allow_mms=false) on everyones account and that it will take a while to "undo" that, to its a setting in the phone itself which is why we all will have to get a software update to enable it.
Not sure which it is if any of those. You can MMS on AT&T via a throwaway phone but not the iPhone. Doesnt make sense...

  • Protected form cannot be filled in in Adobe Reader for IPhone

    Hi,
I've created a pdf form in Acrobat XI and password protected it for editing.  I can fill in the form and save it in adobe reader, but it cannot be filled in in Adobe Reader in an IPhone.  Are there any security settings I can use to protect the form from being edited and still allow it to be completed in an IPhone?
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi Satyadev,
Thanks to Adobe and you for looking into this issue and responding.  While
your team works on expanding functionality for protection, please let them
know that expanding the javascript api in Mobile Reader would be wonderful
as well.  I made a search box that looks up towns in a list of over 900
towns to make it so users didn't have to scroll through such a large list.
This function works in Adobe Reader but not Mobile Reader because the
javascript api in Mobile Reader is very limited.
    Thanks again,
    Bob

  • Mac RSS reader for iphone delivers incorrectly sorted posts

The web page http://reader.mac.com/ is supposed to deliver RSS feeds to my iPhone.
I create the XML feed by arranging a variety of posts for a given day. The posts are in a specific sequence, which is ignored by http://reader.mac.com/.
The Problem: The software at http://reader.mac.com/ is re-arranging the posts in a different order from the sequential order that I've imposed. It seems to be looking at the creation date of the post rather than the creation date of the feed.
This is a big problem for me. I can't trust that my feeds will look correct in the mac reader. Can I change the settings so that the posts are ordered correctly?

    It is a webapp.

  • Card swipe reader for iPhone

    Hi,
we have some customers who use iPhones to access our web-based application on the road, which involves taking credit card payments. Is there an adapter that allows you to plug a USB device (card swipe reader in this case) into an iPhone?
    Thanks,
    Simon

No, there is not. Also, 3rd party apps cannot access the dock connector for data transfer, so there's not a high likelihood that one will be produced.

  • Is there a sd card reader for iPhone 4S?

    Hello.
After failing to find any real answers at the many shops here in Japan. I ask you all the community here this question.
If the iPads can use a micro sd card reader then why can't the iPhone 4S use it? My wife has a PPC G4 PB that has her music that we have for our regular iPod nano we use. Now that we both got the 4S she of course wanted to put her music on to the new phone and get the pics off of her old cell and put them onto her new 4S. The one work around I found to do for the pics was drop box. It's a pain in the rear but it works. Just doesn't work for music. So since iTunes 4.2 and Mac OS 10.4 don't work for the 4S I've been thinking of biting the bullet and just buy a new Mac for my wife. Then I saw the camera kits. Some say 4S OK. But the kit has to be first connected to an iPad then have a usb cable connected to the 4S in order to swap pics. Why can't the kit just hook up to the 4S and then swap the pics to the sd card? Why does it need the iPad for it to do it? If Apple would had allowed 10.6 to use iCloud I could have used my MPB to upload the iTunes library of hers and then have her log in to her account on the 4S. So am I SOL on this?
If anybody has or knows of a sd card reader that the 4S can use or of a service that I could upload her library to and then have her put her songs directly on her 4S I am all ears here.
    Many thanks in advance

OK. Can't edit so here's my reply.
Both names seem to be OK if I want to just carry some tunes on just the sd card it self and then stream the music to the 4S. What I am hoping to find is a way to actually put the music (mp3/4) files on the iPhone 4S directly. Judging by the 2 first posts and by what Amazon has on the two adapters listed by xtremecarbon, it does look like I cannot do this. It bites but that does seem to be the outcome of this.
Again if anybody has any leads or ways of putting music directly on the 4S without iTunes, do let me know. In the mean time I'm looking at the 13" MacBook Air and at the MacBook Pro. I don't think I can twist my wife in getting the Pro and I give her my old one. But I sure will give it a try. At least I know she does like the MacBook Air.

  • Acrobat Reader for iPhone

Is there a way to read .pdf files on the iPhone?

The iPhone has a built in pdf plugin, it can read them through email. At this time there is currently no way to sync pdf's to the phone and view them later, simply through email.
