Cache not synchronized between portal nodes

Hello.
We are having a problem with a service using a cache api (com.sapportals.wcm.util.cache.ICache from bc.sf.service.cache_api.jar). The problem is fairly hard to describe, so bear with me (long description)
Environment (+applications) description:
The portal we have is composed of 4 nodes (2 machines with 2 server nodes each, running ep6 sp2). We are using a service as described above, that basically parses a folder structure from the km repository and puts it into an object and the object into the cache. The objects are modified whenever the folder structure is modified (we have an event listener on a specific folder). Let's call this serviceApp. We have then another application that uses the cached object to display a tree in an iView. Let's call this iViewApp.
Problem description:
Whenever the folder in the km folders is modified, the cached object is modified by the serviceApp. If you are accessing the portal on -say- node1, then the cached object is immediately available to iViewApp. But if you access then the portal from -say- node2 and open the iViewApp, the updated object is not available (an older "version" of the cached object is displayed). The cached object is updated only if modifications in the km folder are performed on node2 (and hence the service instance from node2 rebuild the cached object). So: on node1 the cached object is updated. On node2 it is NOT updated. Also, the modifications performed in the km folders on nodeX are immediately available on nodeX but not on the other nodes (only after some time they become available). Also, modifying km folders on nodeX raises an event (caught by the handler running on nodeX but NOT by the handlers on other nodes). (***) When the modifications in km folders become available on the other nodes (due to synchronization, I reckon), the event handlers do not react (hence, we think an event is not raised).
Question no1:
We have come to the conclusion that maybe the problem is that the caching memory zone is not synchronized between the server nodes. Any ideas how to fix this?
Question no2:
Which api is better to use for caching? The ICache from the bc.sf.service.cache_api.jar or the ICacheService from com.sap.portal.compatibility50.cacheapi.jar? Or maybe another one (we only know of these 2)?
Question no3:
Is the (***) conclusion correct?

Caches not synchronizing completely

Lately we have been experiencing some strange behavior. We end up with caches that are out of sync across servers. The cache count will be 120 on one server, and 203 on another. Clearing the cache on server 1 will result in server 1 having a count of 0 and server 2 having a count of 83. So the 83 records that didn't sync are still left on server 2. After turning on debugging we noticed these messages.

I have attached the cache config. The caches we have noticed this happening with are "replicated-*".
Currently only one cache client is designed to be updating these read only replicated caches. I will search to see if there is some way another cache client is updating them. ICloud not synchronizing tabs between MacBook and iPhone

Okay so first off, hello! And let me start by saying that I found a topic about this from September last year. This did, however, not help me at all. Anyway so, apparently my tabs is not synchronizing between my iPhone 5 and MacBook Pro anymore. The last time it synchronized was six days ago on the 20th, and I know that because there's a tab I can open on my computer that takes me to a topic that was written that exact day and has date and time stamp. I noticed, however, that a tab I opened this morning on my iPad HAS synchronized with my iPhone... So I really haven't got a single clue what is going on but I am getting extremely annoyed that it hasn't synchronized for a week now!
And no, private browsing is NOT enabled on my phone OR my computer, so that's definitely not it. I've never had it enabled anyway, but yes I have checked just to be sure, and it's disabled. So I really don't know what is going on, and I'd really like to have this fixed. Again, a tab i opened on my iPad this morning has synchronized with my phone and not with my computer. So I'm guessing it's my computer there's something wrong with?
If anyone could help, I'd be very happy!

Make sure all your iOS devices and your Mac are signed into the same iCloud account, and that your iOS devices have Safari set to On in Settings>iCloud, and that your Mac has Safari checked in System Preferences>iCloud. If your settings are correct and open tabs in Safari on your Mac are not listed in iCloud tabs on your iOS devices (and vice versa), go to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Safari, restart your Mac, wait a minute or so, then recheck Safari. See if this resolves things.

Toplink cache synchronization between two nodes using tomcat

In our appcation we have two nodes. Using websphere we used to synchronize toplink cache between two nodes. Can we do same thing using tomcat.

Yes, TopLink implements cache synchronization using JMS or RMI easily, which are not dependent on the server being used - though it JMS especially does require a JMS provider that is accessible from each node. Cache synchronization is now cache coordination, and is described using JPA properties here:

the Toplink cache synchronization/coordination with JMS | EMBARCADEROS seems to be a good read for cache coordination over JMS, but is more aimed at TopLink's sessions.xml configuration.

SSO between Portal and Nakia.....problem with SSO... library not found..

We have a Portal environment 7.02 , a Nakisa environment 3.0 (CE) and and HR backend environment 701 (604).
We are busy setting up SSO between Portal and Nakisa via the, URL iview for the Org chart (http://<host>:<port>OrgChart/default.jsp).
We have done as indicated in wiki:

I have created a root/XML folder under the diretory, and the path is now as follows:

It seems like it finds the verify.pse, but not the library, sapsecu.dll.

Caching Issue with Java Portal....Need Help ASAP!

We are deploying a JAVA & .NET enviornment. We have a Java Portal Server that connects to the .NET enviornment. We seem to have a problem with the caching on the JAVA portal...any help you could provide would be much needed!!

We are running Apache 2.0.48 with TomCat 4.1.18LE using JK2 as a conduit between them. We are not using mod_cache at all. we are using mod_proxy in the Apache Server. We have disabled caching in Tomcat:<Host name=..................... <Context path=............................ <Logger className=........................... <Manager className=.............................. <Resources cached="false" caseSensitive="false" /> This didn't seem to help the problem. Now am wondering if the browser is caching even though it's set to get a new page each time. Sharing TREX indexes between portal instances

Hi people,
We created several TREX search indexes in our development portal and we need to reuse them in our productive environment.
As I read in Migrating Content, changing namespace I understand that the indexes cannot be transported between portal instances.
My question is: Is there any way to access existing TREX indexes in new portal instances ?

Hi Daniel,
of course you can use the same TREX server from two different portals.
I assume though, that the issue will be, that the resource IDs and subsequently access URLs will not be the same on the two portals. Or that, for other reasons, you will not be able to ensure abolute synchronicity of KM content in the two portals.
=> Cannot use same index for not exactly same content...

When running several solutions against one TREX, currently you, in the project, have to ensure the following:
- availability of a TREX Server release that is compatible to all the respective solution releases (check the PPMS or PAM entries of DMS, EP, SRM, etc.)
- adequate sizing (see above link to distributed systems)
- maintenance of the proper TREX address in all solutions
AND MOST IMPORTATNTLY:
Although TREX does offer index namespaces, most solutions do not address that yet and create indexes in one common directory on the TREX Server.
Thus, if more than one of the solutions creates technical index names on the TREX Server that are likely to reoccur (e.g. "Test" is created on TREX Server with that directory name, rather than with some techID as directory name), you have to educate the future administrators/powerusers of the project to create only indexes that follow a naming conventiont to avoid index name conflicts (e.g. start all index names with solution prefix "DMS_...", "xRPM_...")
Note:
Using one TREX instance instead of several only provides "IT-side integration". It does not produce an information integration. Each solution will only search in its own indexes.
An enterprise search over KM, ERP, BI and more will be offered with the SAP NetWeaver release after 2004s.

Slave instance can not synchronized with the master for a long time

Slave instance can not synchronized with the master for a long time, and the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger. The transfer bytes per second between master and slave is 118MB/s , upper limit to the ethernet card. Why???
ENVIRONMENT:
1. A network program which we called mcdb is based on BDB 4.8.30. It is used to accept get/set requests and then query data from bdb or save data to bdb.
2. mcdb implements replication with bdb replication manager api. The default start replication policy is DB_REP_ELECTION, rep ack policy is DB_REPMGR_ACKS_ONE_PEER and rep priority is 100.
3. The bdb data files, bdb log files, region files and rep files are all in the same home directory.
4. There are two instances of the mcdb are separately on two standalone servers which has no other programs. These two instances are in one replication group which can elect a master automatically.
5. The master instance is online, which has lots of requests (get, set, delete).
ACTIONS:
1. Start two mcdb instances on two servers and the two instance make a replication group. Slave has already synchronized with the master.
2. Stop the slave for a long time (more than 20 hours).
3. Start the slave instance to synchronize data with master.
RESULT:
1. the gap of LSNs between slave and master are more and more larger.

Hi,
Unfortunately, this issue is beyond the level of what is supported over the forum. Performance related issues are extremely complex and require an in-depth understanding of your environment and dedicated support. In a generic sense, you can look at this as a basic queueing problem. You have a server that went down and work is still coming in. When the server gets started it is possible that it may never catch up depending on new work coming in and the rate at processing the old work.
So what would you do in this case --- one thing would be to reduce the new work coming in. In HA terms this would be slowing the master down and you can increase DB_REP_ACK_TIMEOUT for this. Another thing you could do is add fresh servers to help reduce the workload. In HA terms, this would be the equivalent of restarting the client and give it a fresh look at everything. Another thing you could do is replan the system and load balance. In HA terms, it would mean something like take a hot backup of the master and reinit a client from scratch.

If yes then please check.

2. register the system with UWL.please check if the system is registered or not by checking the xml file created or not.
3. please refresh the cache.

Exit Plug not working in Portal

Hi experts,
I have a web dynpro application (WDP A) which fire an exit plug to another web dynpro application (WDP B). It works fine in normal web dynpro runtime. The architecture of the application is shown [here|http://img232.imageshack.us/img232/7172/exitplug.png].
Now i have created an iView in the EP for WDP A. When the button which fires the exit plug is clicked, i get this error.
com.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Exit-Plug must no be triggered with an URL when running in portal. Use portal navigation instead to navigate to another application!
Seems exit plug is not working in portal run time. Any one has an idea on how to solve this?? Use portal navigation?? What is that?? any guideline and documentation on that??

Hi,
Now that your WD apps are running in a Portal they should be more "Portal aware".
What I mean is that now they are part of a larger framework and you cannot just call the other WD app.
To do this properly (as the error message says) you should use the portal navigation.
Portal navigation consists of many variants: Normal, Dynamic, Quicklinks etc etc.
I personally advice to use Quicklinks if you want to navigate between 2 applciations running in the portal but are not native-portal apps. Altough this might not fit your requrements in this scenario, I cannot say....

You may a few issues. SSO with logon tickets is based on accessing web sites in the same domain. So, if the portal is on http://ourportal.company.com, then the web site being accessed needs to have a URL like http://adphosted.company.com. Is the ADP system accessible by a DNS alias that is within company.com? If so, you're OK. If not, then there will be problems.
The other SSO method is user mapping, but the security implications are not good...

Playlists are not synchronized

Hi everyone
I have this problem, the standard playlists i made on itunes (but is the same if i create on iphone or aTV) are not synchronized with other device, This don't happening with smart playlist, in this case work well.
Any solution?
I'm sorry for bad english, i hope you can understand my problem and help me to solve

There's one difference between the correctly updated playlists and the ones that aren't: the first ones shows the number of songs in the list after the last song, but the second ones (those that are not fully synchronized) does not shows any number after last song.
