Cactus and jars on (embedded) server

Hi
Has anyone tried the Cactus test frame work and got it to work? (when running the embedded oc4j server)
I keep getting noclassfound errors, no matter where I put the Cactus specific libararies. I have tried putting them in $JDEV_HOME/j2ee/home/lib and in $PROJ_HOME/public_html/WEB_INF/lib but to no success.
I have not tried to deploy the project to an external server, maybe that will work better...?
How about the differences of external and embedded server when it comes to where to put jars?
I find it difficult to understand how the embedded server works. Does the embedded server depend on any deployment profiles set up in the project?
Thanks for the help.

Has anyone tried the Cactus test frame work and got it to work? (when running the embedded oc4j server)I have not tried the Cactus test framework.
I keep getting noclassfound errors, no matter where I put the Cactus specific libararies. I have tried putting them in $JDEV_HOME/j2ee/home/lib and in $PROJ_HOME/public_html/WEB_INF/lib but to no success.For a document on OC4J classloaders, see
http://otn.oracle.com/oramag/oracle/02-sep/o52oc4j.html
Thanks for the redirection. That page explains a lot.
I have not tried to deploy the project to an external server, maybe that will work better...?It might, although the external server and embedded server use the exact same binaries. The problem you are having sounds like a configuration issue.Yes, it is a configuration issue. But the configuration may differ, as you say yourself.
How about the differences of external and embedded server when it comes to where to put jars?The configuration of the external and embedded servers are separate. So where you put jars depends on where the configuration is set up to look for jars. JDev automatically administers the embedded server config, and part of that is based on the external server config.I have not myself setup any library or classpath paths on the external server.
I find it difficult to understand how the embedded server works.Can you be more specific? Integrating J2EE server configuration with the features of an IDE like workspaces and projects is inherently complicated. What would help make it easier to understand how the embedded server works?What I meant is that it is difficult to understand the whole server configuration when running the embedded server. You say JDev automatically administers the embedded server config, and picks some configurations from the external server configuration, but how to know what yourself has to include in the external configuration...
Does the embedded server depend on any deployment profiles set up in the project?Only if you use project dependencies (Project Settings | Dependencies) to make a project depend on a deployment profile in a different project.Ok, this is clear.
Thanks for the help.You probably just need to define a Cactus libarary in your project and select the Cactus library as a project library. Then JDev will know to include the Cactus jars when running in the embedded server. Go to Project Settings | Libraries, define a new library, and add it to the project's list of selected libraries. This is exactly what I did.
With the new knowledge, by reading the j2ee classloader document, I hope I will straighten this out.
Thanks

  • Css/js relative path for embedded server

    We have recently begun using relative paths for css and js files in our deployed applications:
    <link href="../../resources/css/global3.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
    <script language="JavaScript" src="../../resources/script/globalScript.js" type="text/JavaScript"></script>
    I cannot figure out where to put the resources folder on my local machine so the pages will link correctly when running a project on my embedded server in JDev. Can anyone please help?

    Hi,
    the embedded OC4J has its configuration files at
    \jdeveloper_installdir\jdev\system\oracle.j2ee.<version>\embedded-oc4j
    However, if you use relative addressing then web applications try to find them relative to the public_html directory of the Viewlayer project

  • Reload a jar in weblogic server without restart

    Hi All,
    We are using weblogic version '10.0.1.0' and have 'reports.jar' file in server for reports.
    If we change any existing class file under 'reports.jar' then we are using below steps in order to recognize a modified jar by weblogic
    1) We need to recreate a jar using eclipse in local IDE and
    2) Copy the 'reports.jar' into server
    3) Need to restart server inorder to recognize the modified jar
    Is there any alternative solution to reload a jar in weblogic server without restart?
    Please do the needful.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Gangadhar

    Hi,
    If this is for weblogic running on development mode, then you can go for auto-deployment feature where weblogic will auto-deploy modified application from autodeploy directory.
    For production mode, you can go for production-redeployment feature of weblogic where it uses application versioning. So for example you deployed webapp1 with version app1.0 and then for new release you will deploy webapp1 with version app2.0 adding a retirement policy to retire old application after said time and start using webapp1 with app2.0.
    Refer to link for mode detail - http://middlewaresupport.wordpress.com/2013/03/21/production-redeployment-feature-in-weblogic/
    rank it if found useful

    And the jar version is cis-application-8.0.0.jar. We are able to use the same jar standalone. What could be the problem? Should we need to upgrade to a diffrent jdk version? I am worried that might cause more problems.
    Regards,
    Pratap

    Thanks for your inputs.
    So far I have been looking at only CHECKIN_NEW_FORM and CHECKIN_SEL_FORM services for creating and updating content. items These services require files to be attached. I checked the definitive guide and found that there are 2 other similar services,CHECKIN_NEW and CHECKIN_SEL, that don't need the file to be attached. Instead we can specify the file path of the primary file. Since the xml content file to be checked is in th content server itlsef, these services can be used in my case. Moreover since my content checkin logic is in the context of a service, my code become more simpler.
    I began working on it and am calling executeServiceSimple("CHECKIN_NEW") or executeServiceSimple("CHECKIN_SEL") based on whether the content to be checked in is new or to be updated. I am setting all the metadata values of the content file in the m_binder local data of the service object.
    I thought this should work cleanly but I am getting the below error

    Hello Iris,
    If you are using Eclipse IDE to run the application for Editing local business layer, please follow the below instructions:-
    Add the jars in the class path by configuring the build path of your project & add all the jars from the location "C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\java". These jars contains the interfaces which is requested by Semantic Layer based applications.
    Go for Run->Run Configurations->Arguments->VM Arguments. Define the location of your connection server such as -Dbusinessobjects.connectivity.directory="C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer".
    Go for Run->Run Configurations->Environment. Declare a new environment variable path specific to the java class & point it to the location C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86 which contains all the BusinessObjects DLL to make the communication between UNX universe to the database.
    Build & Clean your project & run your application once again.
    If you are using the standalone deployment, you can try the below steps:-
    Create a batch file for compiling the java program containing Semantic Layer Java code.
    declare the classpath & define all the libraries in the classpath from the below folder:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer\java
    C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\SL SDK\java
    define the java compile command with the name of the java class along with the class path entries.
    set the environment variable to point the BusinessObjects DLLs: C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
    define the java run command to run the java program along with the JVM argumnets: -Dbusinessobjects.connectivity.directory="C:\Program Files (x86)\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\dataAccess\connectionServer
    Please refer the attached txt file, convert the attached .txt file to .bat file, do the necessary changes according to your environments & try to run the batch file.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks,

  • Need Weblogic.jar from Weblogic server 9.2

    Hi All,
    I need weblogic.jar from Weblogic server 9.2.
    but i dont want to download & install Weblogic Server 9.2.
    Is thereany way i can get only the .jar file?
    Thanks & Regards,
    BOB

    We are having this problem as well. I e-mailed BEA support, but they just said we needed to include the jar in the EAR (this is all supposed to be assembled automatically by the workshop).
    For us the issue seems to be the files not being put into the EAR automatically as they are with other types of projects. If we have to manually copy/jar up our class files then we might as well just use notepad and some batch files and skip BEA altogether.

  • Protecting jnlp and jar files

    Hi
    I would like to know how to protect the jnlp and jar files against anyone who just types the URL in the browser Address bar.
    Thanks
    Steven

    Haven't tried, but if your jnlp app must check for updates on every startup and your files (both jnlp file and jars) are in a password protected folder (using digest or plain authentication over a SSL connection, for example) then you may be in trouble. Will JWS recognize this situation on an update check and prompt for login/password? (related to web server's folders).

  • How to install and configure NI Visa Server without having to install MAX?

    Hi,
    I need to install NI Visa Server on a computer so that remote systems can connect to the devices connected to it. However, the flash-drive on the computer is marked as "removable media" by the operating system which is causing the MAX installer to error out (this is a known problem with standard windows installers and removable media).
    Before pursuing a hardware change, I was wondering if there was a way to install and configure NI Visa Server on the embedded computer without having to install or configure through MAX?
    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello!
    Your system should appear under remote systems and then you can right click on the software folder and install software. Our 8145s for instance have compact flash drives and this process works. Could you give me more details on your hardware? Are you getting an error message when you try to install the software?

  • How Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server linked to each other

    Hi ,
    Please let me know what is the relation between a Standalone OC4J and the Oracle Application Server ?
    In my application The Oracle Application Server is installed in C drive and there is a Stand alone oC4j .
    Please tell me how they are linked to each other .
    Thank you .

    It depends on your need and what features and functionality of Oracle Application Server you are interested in. Note that OC4J is a component of Oracle Application Server that can run as a standalone component or within Oracle Application Server. Question #6 in earlier mentioned FAQ document states:
    OC4J standalone is J2EE 1.3 compatible (1.4 and 1.5 too in later releases of OC4J) and is able to be used in both development and small scale production environments. OC4J standalone provides its own inbuilt HTTP/S listener to allow clients to execute Web applications that it has deployed. Application deployment and server configuration of OC4J standalone is performed by the manual editing of a simple set of XML files.
    For large scale enterprise deployments, the Oracle Application Server product is likely to be more suitable with its comprehensive feature set including Oracle HTTP Server, process monitoring and management capabilities, and its configuration and management console.
    So if you are happy with what you see in standalone OC4J and scalability isn't an issue for you, you can stay with standalone OC4J and don't need to move to Oracle Application Server.
    PS: If you do decide to use OC4J that's embedded with Oracle Application Server, you can't move your standalone OC4J inside Oracle Application Server. You will have to reconfigure embedded OC4J again (as you might have done with standalone OC4J) and redeploy your applications.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks

  • Crystal Report Embedded server 2008

    Hi SAP,
    I have reports created in Crystal reports 2008 sp1 designer. Reports are created using stored procedures.Reports are called through .net application and placed at Crystal Report Embedded server 2008.If Reports  are at local machine they work fine.If reports are  at Crystal Report Embedded server 2008 it prompts for parameter and database credentials.
    Here is my code
    CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument rd= new CrystalDecisions.CrystalReprots.Engine.ReportDocument();
    String rptfilepath="ras://C:\Reports\EmbededRpt.rpt";
    Rd.ReportAppServer="RasServer";
    Rd.FileName= rptfilepath;
    Rcd=rd.ReportClentDocument;
    System.Data.Dataset ds = this.GetData();
    Rd.SetDataSource(CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataSetConversion.DataSetConverter.Convert(ds));
    CrystalReportViewer1.ReportSource=rcd.ReportSource;
    Any response will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    I believe Crystal Report Embedded server 2008 does not come with .NET SDKs. You need to wait for its SP1 release that should make make .NET sdks available for the application.
    Thanks.

  • PB With Java Embedded Server! Pls Help

    I'm trying to install the Java Embedded Server Framework and I did it like this! I extracted setup.class into g:\jes2.0. My jdk is installed in "G:\winnt\jdk\bin".
    I add "g:\jes2.0" to my environment variable based on the help file
    "Make sure your CLASSPATH environment variable contains . (the current directory) at the beginning of the list."
    Is this correct?
