Cal 6.3 migration ownership trouble

I need to migrate calendar entries from a user in JES4 (native domain mydomain.com) to a new user in COMMS6 (different domain varrius.org + alternate domain new.mydomain.com)
calendar data goes from 6.1 schema 1 sparc to 6.3 schema 2 x86
The user exists on COMMS6 and can create events using Evolution or convergence, so calendar is working well
the cal owner and cal subscriber is not the [email protected] but [email protected]
Now, let's migrate data
on JES4, I export the calendar
     ./csexport -c abc calendar /tmp/abc.ics
on COMMS6, I import the calendar data and check the DB
     ./csimport -c [email protected] calendar /tmp/abc.ics
     ./csdb check
After data migration, the user can create events using Evolution but not with Convergence
The ABC user entry contains
icsCalendarOwned: [email protected]$toto toto
icsSubscribed: [email protected]$toto toto
The changes I noticed in Convergence are:
* "My Calendar" is empty (no calendar entry) and the calendar is now displayed as subscribed calendar
* A Convergence popup indicates a lack of permissions
But, with Convergence, I can self change the properties of the calendar to declare ABC as owner.
and the it works but the calendar is still shown as a subscribed calendar, and not as one of My Calendars
Note that the ABC user entry still contains
icsCalendarOwned: [email protected]$toto toto
icsSubscribed: [email protected]$toto toto
What is the right procedure for a clean calendar migration that keep or move the migrated data under the default "my Calendar"?

Does the UID actually change case from lower to upper?
It helps to provide the actual values you are using rather then some obfuscated data, especially where even the slightest variation could be at the root of the issue.

Is that the total list of icsCalendarOwned/icsSubscribed entries?
Did you confirm the ownership information i.e. what do you get for the following command:
./cscal -v list [email protected]> The changes I noticed in Convergence are:
* "My Calendar" is empty (no calendar entry) and the calendar is now displayed as subscribed calendar
* A Convergence popup indicates a lack of permissions
But, with Convergence, I can self change the properties of the calendar to declare ABC as owner. There are primary owners and "other owners". Other owners have less rights then the primary owners.
What is the right procedure for a clean calendar migration that keep or move the migrated data under the default "my Calendar"?This may actually be a bug with Convergence handling of ownerships/subscriptions etc. Does the calendar show up under the "Personal Calendar" section in the UWC/CE interface?

Shane.

  • Migration Assistant Trouble

Hello all, I have a very sticky problem. I recently upgraded the hard drive in my Macbook Pro, before I did this I used 'Carbon Copy Cloner' to make a copy of my drive, I didn't make a disk image, I just copied the entire drive over to my external drive, then I installed my new hard drive, installation went fine, when I booted up again I had to install Leopard again, obviously because it was a new drive, when I tried to use Disk Utility in the install the drive would hang so I said forget it and just installed the rest of the way. Once I was on the desktop, I opened Disk Utility and checked my external for errors, apparently, there were a few, I fixed them all, then opened up 'Migration Assistant' (this is of course after the drive was indexed) I selected to transfer an account, clicked mine from the external, and waited, and waited, and am still waiting three hours later, my account shows up, everything is there (minus the applications folder, the MOST important part) and it just says 'Calculating' no pinwheel, its not 'not responding' and the external drive is working, I can hear it so SOMETHING is going on... I don't know what to do! should I wipe the external, swap to my old drive and try again? this time with a disk image? sorry for writing so much I just never know what step you guys WON'T need to know. Thanks in advance for any help...

that sounds very strange. do you have any files/applications open that reside on the internal? if not possibly you have a failing internal drive. try formatting it while booted from the leopard install DVD. insert the DVD, reboot and hold "c" at the chime. this will boot you into the leopard installer. once past the language screen start disk utility from the utilities menu and try formatting the internal drive from there. if you succeed, reboot from the external and try cloning again.

  • HT3231 Migration assistant troubles: some documents could not be transferred

I recently erased my hard drives and reinstalled Mac OS X on my MacBook. I attempted to use Setup Assistant to restore my old user ID with its files, but received the error message:
    Errors and Warnings:
    - 2013-02-23 22:17:10 -0800 Some documents for [username] could not be transferred
    - 2013-02-23 22:17:10 -0800 [username] could not be created
I then continued on through the setup process and created a new user account instead, assuming I could fix the problem later. I then installed the latest combo update via Software Update and attempted to use Migration Assistant to restore my backed up files, but received the same error message.
I need some advice on how else to fix this problem, thank you.

Hmm, let try a new Admin user...
To find out if it's system wide or user specific, try this...
Open System Preferences>Accounts, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.
Does it work in the new account?
    If you can't do that...

Starts up like the first time you buy a new Mac, but after filling in all that info again, you should have access to the computer and the other Users & files will still be there... give the new User a different name than an existing one.

  • Migration assistant troubles

I am attempting to migrate data from my old iMac G5 to my new MacBook. After booting the iMac into target disk mode, Migration assistant eventually times out showing some message about the target disk not supported or whatever. I forget what it said. Anyhow, I attempted to use the installation disk to perform a repair on the iMac g5 and that seemed to be ok. It found a few troublesome areas but appears to have fixed them. But... still cannot get migration assistant to see the disk in my iMac. I tried to use the Tech Tool Deluxe CD to repair the disk but the iMac just spins the fans to max and freezes.
    Any other suggestions?

First do the following on your iMac:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now shutdown the computer for a couple of minutes and then restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger and Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    Next:
Shut down both computers. Connect a Firewire cable between each computer. You need a 6-pin FW400 cable in good condition. First start up the iMac and after the chime press and hold down the "T" key until the Target Disk Mode screen appears. Then start up the MacBook normally. After the MB starts up you should see the hard drive of the iMac on the MB's Desktop.
I would, however, recommend against using Migration Assistant to move data from a PPC Mac to an Intel Mac. Instead simply follow these instructions:
Folders You Can Move to Your new Mac
From the Home folder copy the contents of Documents, Movies, Music, Pictures, and Sites.
    In your /Home/Library/ folder:
/Home/Library/Application Support/AddressBook (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Application Support/iCal (copy the whole folder)
Also in /Home/Library/Application Support (copy whatever else you need including folders for any third-party applications)
    /Home/Library/Keychains (copy the whole folder)
    /Home/Library/Mail (copy the whole folder)
/Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist (* This is a very important file which contains all email account settings and general mail preferences.)
/Home/Library/Preferences/ copy any preferences needed for third-party applications
/Home /Library/iTunes (copy the whole folder)
/Home /Library/Safari (copy the whole folder)
    If you want cookies:
    /Home/Library/Cookies/Cookies.plist
    /Home/Library/Application Support/WebFoundation/HTTPCookies.plist
    For Entourage users:
Entourage is in /Home/Documents/Microsoft User Data
    Also in /Home/Library/Preferences/Microsoft
    For FireFox:
    /Home/Library/Applications Support/FireFox
    /Home/Library/Preferences/org.mozilla.firefox.plist
Credit goes to another forum user for this information.
I suggest you reinstall your third-party software that aren't universal binaries or replace them with updated versions that are universal binaries. Do not copy preference panes, contextual menu items, internet plug-ins, input managers, startup items, or hardware drivers (extensions) from your iMac. They are incompatible with Intel Macs.

  • Migration Assistant Trouble - Time Machine

    Hi guys,
I created a backup of my old MacBook's hard drive through Time Machine, to transfer to my new MacBook Pro.
I went through the normal steps on Time Machine, selected from a Time Machine backup and it's been looking for the disk ever since.
It showed the last time I plugged it in yesterday evening, found the backup straight away. However I added some movie files onto the external hard drive to back up from my new MacBook to make sure I didn't lose them during the migration and since then it hasn't been able the backup.
Has this messed up the backup?
    Any help very much appreciated!

Do you mean you copied some extra files onto the TM drive?  If so, where did you put them?
Unless you managed to get them inside the Backups.backupdb folder (which the Finder should't allow), it shouldn't be a problem (but those files won't be found by Migration Assistant.)
Try repairing the backups, per #6 in Using Disk Utility.

  • Migrating files between computers - on destination owner is 'nobody'

    Hi,
I got a new MBP. The migration I'll make from my old MB is the first I do as a OS X-user, and I've run into trouble.
On my old MB, I've a lot of software installed I don't use anymore, and other unwanted stuff. Because of that, I don't want to use the Migration Assistant, but rather make the transfer manually.
But I run into ownership troubles: When files are copied from the old to the new computer, the owner is changed into 'nobody' and I've to change it to 'anders' (the sort name for my user account) to have Read & Write Access.
    1. Why is the owner changed to 'nobody'? The short name is 'anders' on my old computer as well.
    2. When I change the owner to 'anders' and give it Read & Write permissions, is there a way to remove 'nobody' from the permission list?
    Thanks,
    Anders

OK, then. After you have transferred everything you want into your new Home folder here's what you do:
Fix Home Folder Ownership in Leopard
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. Enter or paste the following commands:
    sudo chown -R anders:staff ~
Press RETURN. The -R option makes it recursive in case the ownership was wrong on some files/folders inside the home directory.
chmod +a "everyone deny delete" ~
    Press RETURN.
Note that the character following "staff' is the tilde, "~" which represents your Home folder.

  • Urgent Help Homogenous System copy

    Hello!
We have SAP Portal 6.0 ABAP+JAVA WAS640, in Windows 2003 and Oracle

We are updating our devellopment environment, doing a Homogeneous

    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks in advance.

About migration key go to http://service.sap.com/migrationkey and also take it.
But usually it is required at heterogeneous system copy, you do not need to enter any migration key (for a homogeneous system copy). Describe your system more full and read the migration log, for exemple can be such as Note 747773

  • Display Flicker and Screen Die Outs Randomly

I bought the MacBook Pro with Retina Display and all good stuff, however, it is giving bad flicker problem and screens seems to die suddently at times. I have to shut off the computer and then turn it on again....
This is sad and annoying problem. After paying $3500 for a computer, this is painful.
Can Apple fix this problem easily? Why is Apple not contacting customers and offer to fix this issue?

The most obvious next-step solution I'm trying to avoid in trouble shooting is a clean install...that takes me down for a 1 full day, plus 2-3 days rebuilding my application preferences, plugins, serialization of sofware, etc. (I know I can use the migration assistant, but don't want to "migrate" the trouble back in to a clean system.)
In a Mac Pro, you should have a Boot Drive with only System, Library, Applications, and the hidden unix files including paging/swap. All user files (which includes preferences) should be moved to another drive.
Establishing a Boot Drive is one of the best Speedups you can give your multi-drive Mac. It stops the incessant "snacking" of the system from wrecking data Reads and Writes.
Once you have a Boot Drive, you can switch to a different one (temporarily or permanently) in a few minutes.

  • Error -43 My folder has bloqued

Hello! I have a problem with two folders, one contains part of my music and the other some videos.
I move the folders to a external hard drive, and now, the icon of the folders is changed. When I double click it
a message appears: unexpected error -43
    I'm running OSX 10.6.7
    External drive Seagate FreeAgent
    Thanks for your help

Can you move them back to your main HD or to a Windows partition (if you have one) and still access the files? If so, I would sugest you reformat your external HD to GUID/HFS(journaled) via Disk Utility if you use it only with the Mac.
Another solution would be for you to install NTFS 3G or NTFS Paragon on your Mac, so you would enable read/write support for Windows partitions and avoid some ownership trouble.
Let me know if this helps.

  • Trouble Accessing Virtual Machine After Time Machine Migration

I am hoping that someone else has run up against this problem and is able to help.
I recently purchased a new iMac.  I upgraded to 8 GB of ram specifically because I have VMware Fusion and want to use it on my new machine.
I chose to migrate my entire old iMac to the new machine using my Time Machine backup.
VMware appears to have migrated successfully.  I do not have any trouble accessing the application, but when I try to resume my only virtual machine, which is for Windows XP I get the following message:
VMware Fusion cannont connect to the virtual machine.  Make sure you have rights to run the program and to access all directories it used and rights to access all directories for temporary files.
How do I resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to offer me a clue on how to overcome this.
If I can't access this machine it appears as if I will be able to create a new one.  I would like to avoid having to do that if it is possible.
    Terri Schurter

    Captfred,
In that folder there is a virtual machine.  It is called Windows XP Professional.  So it is there.   When I am in VMware Fusion I can see Windows Media Player, which is what I was probably accessing the last time I was in the machine, so it does appear to have backed up the virtual machine.  I would expect it to because it is a part of a Mac application, VMware Fusion.
It appears to be an issue with permissions that I don't know how to solve.
I know there is a VMware forum, but I can't even figure out how to sign up for it the darned thing is so confusing.  I can't seem to post to it no matter what I do.

  • Trouble migrating 2008R2 VM to 2012R2 Host. Intergrated Components fail

    Hello All
    We have a new 2012 R2 server with Hyper-V.
I'm trying to migrate the VMs from 2012 Std Host but when I move a 2008 VM it seems to struggle to load the intergrated components or it's having trouble with the built in components from the 2008 VM.  It appears to be the same with our 2011 SBS VM
too.  The 2011 fails to even create the virtual NIC within the VM.
I've successfully moved two 2003 VM's without issue.
    Help please?
    Thanks
    Daren

    Hi Daren,
Try to do Mark's solution and you can try to do as follows:
Shut down all Hyper-V virtual machines on the host then stop the Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management
    service
net stop "Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management"
Copy all virtual machines you want to migrate to WS2012R2 Hyper-V host then
    Import Virtual Machine…
    Install integration services.
    Hope this will be helpful.

  • HT4796 im having trouble getting my laptop to connect to my mac using windows migration assistant. my mac comes up with a code but my laptop is waiting for my mac to respond but nothing happens

    hi all
im having trouble getting my laptop to connect to my mac using migration assistant. my mac has a code on the screen but my laptop doesnt respond and just says it waitng for my mac to respond.
    any idea? please

Hi Christina, belated welcome to Apple Discussions if nobody said it already.
I've had some experiences with these new flash memory recording camcorders, and I'll give you a quick rundown of what I've learned. Many of them (JVC, Panasonic, etc.) tend to record in a .MOD file format, which is non-standard, proprietary, and unrecognizable by most software. I thought Canon was usually a little more standards-compliant, but it appears they also use this .MOD format in your specific camera model. There are likely a couple ways we can get around this though!
In order to play the files, you will likely need to change their file format (.MOD) to .AVI manually. You'll have to locate the files on your Mac, and then manually change the file names so that the file extension (after the period) is .AVI
At that point, a video player application such as http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-macosx.html>VLC should play the files fine!
You should be able to transfer new video files from the camera to the Macbook Pro with no problems as well. Just plug in the camera to the computer via USB, and also make sure the camera is plugged in to charge. Once it's plugged in, open iMovie (came with the MBP, in the Applications folder) and the MBP should take care of the rest.
Let me know if you have any success with any of this!

Having troubles for migrating mails from mac outlook 2011 to windows outlook 2010.
I thought of switching to windows becaouse of personal reasons, and email migration is one thing that has stopped me from doing so.
I was transferring my mails from outlook 2011 to outlook 2010, and thought it would take only few minutes for migration via import/export option available in outlook 2011. But the situation seems to be more complicated than I thought. Outlook 2010 would not import tha file made while using the export mail option in outlook 2011. I am stuck with this problem and need to solve it asap. Am I doing anything wrong?? Please suggest some problem solving solutions.

    Hi,
Outlook can't import .olm files directly, as a workaround, we may create an IMAP account in Outlook 2011 and upload your emails to it, then create the same IMAP account in Outlook 2007 to download the emails, then drag the emails to your own account folder.
How to configure Outlook to receive e-mail messages from an IMAP server:

  • Serious trouble with permissions and ownership

My archive/install/Migration Assistant upgrade to Leopard has turned into a nightmare concerning 'ownership' of my files and hard drives.
To make a long story short, after many many problems wherein files and drives were 'owned' by me but unaccessible to me (often with two ownership qualities attributed to me- one "Read & Write" and the other "Custom", a situation I could not edit or change) I restarted with the installer disc and repaired permissions on my Leopard startup partition. It took several hours and went through thousands of files identifying "ACL" problems.
Now all my drive icons except for my startup disc have locks on them and I can't write to them even though I supposedly have permission. Carbon Copy Cloner fails to copy to the locked drives*.
This situation now obtains EVEN WHEN I BOOT IN TIGER: my drives have little lock icons on them. I thought I could revert to Tiger to fix this, but apparently I'm stuck. I need to know how to "unlock" my drives (and eventually return to Tiger).
