Calculating Calender Year/Month

Hello Gurus,
I need to display the calmonth value as previous month if i execute in the current month.
For example, If i execute in March 2012, calmonth value should be displayed as Feb 2012. As of now, v r using a formula for the calmonth in the transformation level. Value is being generated but it is creating problem in the month of January.
Is there any simple ABAP code, so that i can use it as a filed level routine or at filter value in the DTP level..
Thanks in Advance.
Anil.

Hi Anil
What I understood is you want to derive month - 1 ?
There is a Function Module available in ECC system  MONTH_PLUS_DETERMINE
Copy this Function Module in BW ( you can ask your ABAPers, 10 minutes job)
Copy this standard one to a ZMONTH_PLUS_DETERMINE in BW and use this in transformation.
Pass calmonth value and any offset you want.  This will take care of your Jan, value.
Some detail is there in tbe below link although this link was to discuss user exit variable
Customer Exit Variable - Prior Calendar Month
You can also use a little modification of existing code.
Like when Calmonth = 01 ,
Prev_calmonth  = 12.
Prev_year = year -1.
Concatenate prev_year Prev_month into Prev_calmonth .
For 2011 01 -
> this will give ou 2010 and 12.  So your new calmonth will be 201012..I guess this is your requrement

  • Variables for calendar year/month

    Hi All,
    My requirement is to create a headcount report which has to display the number of employees for different time period. ´
    1) When user chooses calender day then the report should display total number of employees on that time period(01.01.2005)-(10.01.2009).
    2) If user chooses calyear /month then he should see the report for each calyear/month (like 01.2005 , 02.2005,02,2005....)in the columns.
    I tried dropping calyear/month in column and i got the result for my second scenario (like 01.2005 , 02.2005,02,2005....)
    But when the user chooses the calday it still shows the report by calmonth (bcoz of calyear/month in the column).
    I also tried text variable for calyear/moth(replacement path method) but i have the restriction in the interval (from date or to date - i have to choose one by default) so it shows only either date in the columns .
    The  two variables. 1) Calender Day (Interval,Optional)) 2) Calender Year /Month (Interval,Optional)
    I got four restricted key figure to restrict number of employees by business.
    Eg :
    When Cal Day is choosed then the report will be :(01.01.2005 -10.01.2009)
                   (01.01.2005 - 10.01.2009)
    Country  Sales Finance
    India        20      30
    Denmark  30      50
    When Calyear / Month is choosed then the report will be : (01.2005 - 02-2005) :
                        01.2005                    02.2005
    Country     Sales Finance      Sales Finance
    India           24     70                70         45
    Denmark    36      60               56        30

    Hello,
    This cannot be achived dynamically.
    I think the two ways you can work out is creating two different reports one to include daywise and the other to include montwise structure.
    Otherwise you can keep calday in free char and ask user to swap calmonth with calday as per requirement.
    Else you have to create a workbook report and make use of VB macros to calculate report dynamically which is a very complex approach.

  • How to create offset for calendar year/month in BEx Reporting

    HI ALL,
        i have a requirement of creating offset for calendar year/month.Basically i have a characteristic in Rows and volume key figure in Column and i have to put that volume under the calender year /month which is shown below ..
                             Previous Volume           Present Volume
                                     01.2010                             01.2011
    material                    10000                               20000
    how can i create a report for this . by using volume key figure i am creating previous volume and present volume,. how can i put them in key figure do i have to create any structure, selections  for that.... and "" how can i get the present year volume and previous year volume. If i use cal year/month how can i create offset for that.....
    please do let me know in brief...
    Thank you.

    Hi ,
    I think you need data year wise .
    Instead of creating a variable for calmonth and using it in the RKF , you can just drag calyear in columns and keep the Volume keyfigure below it . Keep only one keyfigure Volume and do not restrict it with calmonth or any other variable .
    In this case calyear should not be present in rows or free characteristics .
    You would be able to see the data year wise ..
    Try this and check whether it is according to your requirement
    If You need to show the data as Volume (01.2011)  and Volume(01.2010)
    It means you are only showing data for Jan 2011 and Jan 2010 in the report
    In this case you can retrict Volume keyfigure with a variable and create a customer exit variable
    for 0calmonth as an offset of -1 will bring the data of 12.2010 for Previous Volume(01.2010) key figure which is incorrect .
    For your output you can create 2 customer exit variables :
    One will restrict 0calmonth to current year and another to previous year .
    Check whether this works .
    Also , if you want to show current calendar months data , you can either use a mandatory variable on 0calmonth
    and restrict the same in volume keyfigure or there are std customer exit variable provided by SAP to give current cal month .
    You can restrict the char 0calmonth with this std exit variable if you do not want 0calmonth variable to be mandatory.

  • How to generate a Yearly report based on a calculation at the Month level

    Have the need to create a report as follows. Any ideas on how this can be accomplished in OBI is appreciated. I have already tried different ways but non worked for me.
    The data is stored in a table at day level as follows:
    Day Amount_A Amouont_B
    1/1/2008     100     100
    1/15/2008     200     100
    2/1/2008     100     400
    2/15/2008     300     200
    1/1/2009     100     300
    1/15/2009     100     200
    2/1/2009     200     100
    2/15/2009     400     300
    The report should be displayed at Year level. Amount_A is just the summation of Amount_A from the table at daily level rolled up to the Year level in the Time dimension. The same thing for Amount_B.
    The formula for Absolute_Error is Absolute(Amount_A - Amount_B). But the problem is that it has to be calculated at the Month level instead of Day Level. So following is the logic for Absolute_Error:
    Month     Amount_A Amount_B     Absolute_Error
    Jan-2008     300     200     100
    Feb-2008     400     600     200
    Jan-2009     200     500     300
    Feb-2009     600     400     200
    The report should be displayed as follows:
    Year Amount_A Amount_B     Absolute_Error
    2008     700     800     300
    2009     800     900     500
    Note that the calculation of Absolute_Error results in a different value if it is calculated at the Month level and summed up to Year than if it were calculated at the Day level and then summed up to Year. It is required to be based on Month level for this report.
    Is there a way to do this without having to build an aggregated fact table at the Month level?

    Hi.
    Do this:
    1. Create Amount_A and Amount_B in BMM without SUM as default aggregation rule.
    2. Now, just go to Answers and make report with three columns:
    YEAR -- EXPRESSION 1 -- EXPRESSION 2
    EXPRESSION 1 is:
    sum(Amount_A) - sum(Amount_B)
    EXPRESSION 2 is:
    sum
    abs
    sum(Amount_A by MONTH)
    sum(Amount_B by MONTH)
    My example in Answers:
    TIMES.CALENDAR_YEAR
    sum(SALES.QUANTITY_SOLD_NORMAL) - sum(SALES.AMOUNT_SOLD_NORMAL)
    sum( abs(sum(SALES.QUANTITY_SOLD_NORMAL by TIMES.CALENDAR_MONTH_DESC) - sum(SALES.AMOUNT_SOLD_NORMAL by TIMES.CALENDAR_MONTH_DESC) ) )
    This will first summarize amount A and amount B on a month level and then do a difference, after that ABS and then sum on the year level.
    This is workaround to avoid larger RPD changes.

  • How to create a text variable for Calender Yr/Month depending on the prompt for calendar year

    Hi everyone
    Please assist on this issue:
    i have created a Bex report that has an offset for 12 months from the current calender month, i tried to use text variables to replace the calender months but i just learned now text variables from Bex dont work in BO, so I would like to create a prompt in BO to enter Calendar Year and then based on the input(Calender Year) the Webi report must display a 12 months for that Year.
    Please also indicate where exactly  i have to click in order to get that "Helpful icon "  when the my issues have been resolved, because i searched it and havent seen it anywhere on the communications
    Thanks in Advance
    Ole

    Hi Gill
    In BO I recieve my all months for existing data  and when i create a prompt for Calender Year the months in the report still has those text varibale for exampl if i enter 2011 on the prompt the text remains for the year that was already there wen i created my text variable... so its not dynamic.....
    So if i have text variables in Bex it will display like this in Webi in which it wont change if i put in 2011 as input for the prompt...

    If you use the intervals it will, like any other calculation, struggle with the fact that there are different number of days in the month and leap years to take account of.
    Whilst it's simple enough to determine how many whole years have passed and how many months difference there is, the moment you start to take account of the days you become stuck because days in conjunction with months cause the day calculation to be a little more indeterminate...

  • Calculation based on date but year&month on seperate fileds.

    Hello,
    Simple question:
    I have a table in 9i with the fields SOURCE, YEAR, MONTH
    Since I dont have a date field, how do I count e.g the records <07/2008 ?
    SAMPLE DATA:
    APPLES;2008;06
    APPLES;2008;07
    APPLES;2008;08
    Thank you in advance for your help.

    Without conversion to date:
    WITH sample_data AS (SELECT 'APPLES' Source, '2008' AS Year, '06' AS Month
                           FROM DUAL
                         UNION ALL
                         SELECT 'APPLES', '2008', '07'
                           FROM DUAL
                         UNION ALL
                         SELECT 'APPLES', '2008', '08'
                           FROM DUAL)
    SELECT *
      FROM sample_data
    WHERE YEAR < '2008' OR (YEAR = '2008' AND MONTH < '07');The "WITH sample_data AS (...)" block serves to mimic a sample table, so you can SELECT COUNT(*) FROM SOURCES
    WHERE YEAR < '2008' OR (YEAR = '2008' AND MONTH < '07');Urs

  • Difference between calender year and fiscal year

    Hi Experts,
    Can you please let me know What is the difference between calender year and fiscal year?

    Hi Suresh,
    Calender year  begins on January 1 and ends on December 31.
    A fiscal year (or financial year or accounting reference date) is a 12-month period used for calculating annual ("yearly") financial statements in businesses and other organizations.It can be any 12-month period that a company uses for accounting purposes.
    hope its clear

  • How to add a date(Year, Month, Day) table in OBIEE Administrator

    Hi,
    I am new to this tool, we are developing a HR report for emp on leave or absentees. we have data since 1982 in our tables. we want to have a date table and dimension where we can give have a hierarchy for year, month, day, so that we can design our dashboards based on time. how we can do that in OBIEE Administrator and can we do it in warehouse builder as well, if so, how. ( we have a column for date in the table by name 'leave start date' and 'leave end date', can we use this and create our own table with year month and day as separate columns).

    Using date column u can create time dim in BMM layer
    Create a new logical table and pull your date column to this table

  • Date separate year, month and day

    Hello everyone and thanks in advance, I'm new to this and the truth is not doing this.
    Well, I have a PDF with several pages which I designed and has been asking me in a complete date in the format dd / mm / yy and subsequent pages he asks me the same date of birth but in 3 separate fields, day , month and year. I want you when you enter the date the first copy and separate day month and year in others. I tried this but I get
    var array_datesol = datesol.split("/")
    var year = parseInt(array_datesol[2]);
    var month = parseInt(array_datesoll[1]);
    var day = parseInt(array_datesol[0]);
    this.getField('yearsol').value = year;
    this.getField('monthsol').value = month;
    this.getField('daysol').value = day;
    where is the initial field datesol date and year, month and day where they have to be separately
    thanks in advance

    Are you getting any errors in the JavaScript debugging console?
    You are using the syntax for the 'Custom JavaScript calculation' and this syntax can not be used in the 'simplified field notation. Also you can not use any JavaScript properties, objects, functions, control statments.
    When run in the console, I find you have a misspelling of the variable name 'datesol'. I also do not see where you are initializing the value for 'datesol'.
    var datesol = event.valueAsString;  // get value of this field
    var array_datesol = datesol.split("/") ; // make into an array
    this.getField('yearsol').value =array_datesol[2];  // get element year
    this.getField('monthsol').value = array_datesol[1];  // get month element - fixed variable name
    this.getField('daysol').value = array_datesol[0]; // get date element
    I would use one of the following so the other fields are only updated when a date has been entered and the leading zeros are displayed:
    this.getField('yearsol').value = '';
    this.getField('monthsol').value = '';
    this.getField('daysol').value = '';
    if(event.value != '') {
    // get parts of date and print with leading zeros
    var datesol = event.value;  // get value of this field
    var array_datesol = datesol.split('/') ; // make into an array
    this.getField('yearsol').value = util.printf('%,304.0f', array_datesol[2]);  // get element year
    this.getField('monthsol').value = util.printf('%,302.0f', array_datesol[1]);  // get month element - fixed variable name
    this.getField('daysol').value = util.printf('%,302.0f', array_datesol[0]); // get date element
    // or
    this.getField('yearsol').value = '';
    this.getField('monthsol').value = '';
    this.getField('daysol').value = '';
    if (event.value != '') {
    // get date parts and print with leading zeros
    var oDatesol = util.scand('dd/mm/yyyy', event.value); // get date object
    this.getField('yearsol').value = util.printf('%,302.0f',oDatesol.getFullYear());  // get element year
    this.getField('monthsol').value = util.printf('%,302.0f', oDatesol.getMonth() + 1);  // get month element - fixed variable name
    this.getField('daysol').value = util.printf('%,302.0f', oDatesol.getDate()); // get date element
    // or
    this.getField('yearsol').value = '';
    this.getField('monthsol').value = '';
    this.getField('daysol').value = '';
    if(event.vaue != '') {
    // get parts of date and format
    var oDatesol = util.scand('dd/mm/yyyy', event.value); // get date object
    this.getField('yearsol').value = util.printd('yyyy', oDatesol); // get element year
    this.getField('monthsol').value = util.printd('mm', oDatesol); // get month element - fixed variable name
    this.getField('daysol').value = util.printd('dd', oDatesol); // get date element
    If you are going to fill other field, you will need to use the '.valueAsStriing' property or '.toString()'  method to retain the leading zeros.

  • SELECT on year month only in '2013-Jan' format?

    Hi,
    is there a way of selecting on year month only in sql when the format of the date passed is '2013-Jan'. I'm not sure at the moment if I have any control of the date format passed so wanted to explore the sql options.
    using sql server 2008 r2
    thanks,

    Since SQL is a database language, we prefer to do look ups and not calculations. They can be optimized while temporal math messes up optimization. A useful idiom is a report period calendar that everyone uses so there is no way to get disagreements
    in the DML. The report period table gives a name to a range of dates that is common to the entire enterprise.
    CREATE TABLE Something_Report_Periods
    (something_report_name CHAR(10) NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY
       CHECK (something_report_name LIKE <pattern>),
     something_report_start_date DATE NOT NULL,
     something_report_end_date DATE NOT NULL,
      CONSTRAINT date_ordering
        CHECK (something_report_start_date <= something_report_end_date),
    etc);
    These report periods can overlap or have gaps. I like the MySQL convention of using double zeroes for months and years, That is 'yyyy-mm-00' for a month within a year and 'yyyy-00-00' for the whole year. The advantages are that it will sort with the ISO-8601
    data format required by Standard SQL and it is language independent. The pattern for validation is '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-00-00' and '[12][0-9][0-9][0-9]-[01][0-9]-00'

  • Extract Year/Month/ Week From Date

    BW Experts,
      I have a Time Char in a New OSD i am developing. Say the Time char is 0Req_date. This 0req_date is updated using some calculation in my update rules (Say 0Req_Date = Act_dl_dt - Conf_date). Now I have to extract month/ year/ week and populate Time Chars 0REQ_MONTH, 0REQ_YEAR and 0REQ_WEEK respectively from 0REQ_DATE. Can I do this via respective rules to 0REQ_MONTH, 0REQ_YEAR and 0REQ_WEEK in the update rules. My concern is as OREQ_DATE itself is a calculated field, can month/year/week be extracted correctly? Hope I have put the question across understandably. Help is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Ashwin

    Hi Ashwin,
    It can be done...you can either put the code for all these derivations in the Start Routine of the update rule, making sure that the 0REQ_Date is calculated before the others. Or you can also calculate just the 0REQ_DATE in the start routine and use the individual update routines to populate the other time chars.
    Processing using the Start Routine is recommended for efficiency and better performance.
    Hope this helps...

    Regards,
    Rajan

    Hi Rajan,
    We follow the fiscal year calender for the same. And this we will define in advance.
    Check the OB29 Tcode, infact this can be updated from R/3 also, if you are maintaing the same in R/3.
    For sure, the APO fiscal year should always be in line  with R/3, i suggest take the finanace experts support, they are more familier with the fiscal year calender.

  • Difference between two dates is required in years & months

    Hi all,
    <b>1.</b>   I want difference of two dates in years & months. For e.g. date1 is 29.09.1998 & date2 is 02.05.2001. I want date2-date1 to be calculated & displayed as  2.7 (yrs)in BEx.
    <b>2. </b>   Also, while calculating overalll result it should calculate as :
        E.g.    2.7+ 2.6 = 5.1 (yrs)
    Right now I am getting difference in days. Is there any way to convert it in yrs & months.
    Note:string 'yrs' is not required
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    Reply by Arun was immensely helpful.
    To do calculation I used the following formula.
    TRUNC ( 'DATE DIFFERENCE' / 365 ) + TRUNC ( FRAC ( 'DATE DIFFERENCE' / 365 ) * 12 ) / 100
    where 'DATE DIFFERENCE' is difference of two dates in days (Employment start date - employment end date). By this I am getting number of days in years & months.
