Calculation based on Dashboard prompt

Hi,
How to calculate numerical values based on dashboard prompt values
Ex if we select 'N' from prompt it should divide numerical value in the request by some other measure else default value.
Thanks
Suresh

Hi...
If your question is that, solution provided by naresh, then... small correction (not exactly correction... but my view...)
*CASE WHEN upper('@{VAR}')='N' THEN your measure ELSE '@{VAR}{ +default value+ }' END*
upper function is used.. if your prompt has editbox control and enter small n or capital.... don't worry... as it converts to upper and checking for capital N only...
Here VAR is presentation variable name you have given...
'@{VAR}{ +default value+ }' is variable name with the default value i.e. there in your dashboard prompt if you have specified...
Ex: *'{@var_region}{CENTRAL REGION}'*
Naresh post is.. really helpful to you... i hope...

  • Column hiding based on Dashboard Prompt value in OBIEE 10g

    Hi,
Can you please let me know, whether there is any possibility of "hiding the column based on the value selected in the Dashboard Prompt".
    Your suggestions are highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards
    Siva

    Hi,
    Simple way to solve it.
    Steps
1.) set presentation variable for each columns of your dashboard prompt
2.) edit your analysis of table/pivot view ---> colums formate header in this place just keep it your presentation variable values like below
    E.x
    @{ccy}
Then save it and then test out

  • Calculations in Page /Dashboard Prompts  in OBIEE doesnt work for me .

    Hi ,
Iam trying to create a Custom Aging Report instead of using the OOB Aging report . In the report I created column ( only at this report level) "% of Outstanding Amount in AR Past Due 1- 30 Days" by changing the "Fx" and Now I can see the $$ amount that customer has due as well as how much % is that in the total Outstanding Amount. The report is coming good. Now I have a business requirement that the groupings such as 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 , and 90+ should be given in dashboard prompt . I could create 1-30 , 31-60 , 61-90 but 90+ ( 91-180, 181-360 , 360+) prompt is not working as I tried to concat these three groupings and iam getting the error message as " Un resolved column error , Concat Function does not support." and other thing when i tried to create a calcualted % prompt even that is giving me error message as " Unresolved colum. I think the Calculations doesnt work for Dashboard prompts ..but iam not sure ..May be Iam missing somethg , Can anybody pls help me in getting this fixed . How to create a calculation for page/Dashbaord Prompts ...I tried using the sql too but still it gives the error.
    Please help
    Thankyou

In your dashboard prompt properties you need to tick the 'Constrain' box for all the columns that you want be constrained by the other choices, e.g Year, Quarter, Month.
Only tick Product Name / Order Name if you want these to be constrained also but bear in mind it could cause a performance delay if you are having to join tables to get the constrain.
    Hope this helps,

  • Change Image based on dashboard prompt

    Hello
    Im using OBIEE 11G 11.1.1.5
I need to show on a dashboard, the logo (Image) of the company selected on a dashboard prompt. I have 5 companies and each has its own logo. Only one company can be selected.
Is there a way to acomplish that ?
    Thanks

    Hi Andres,
We can make use of the 'Conditional display of sections in dashboard based on analysis results'. One option certainly is to write different analysis (narrative view or static text) with your company logs and embedding them in different sections of their corresponding reports in dashboards. These sections need to be conditionally displayed based on the dashboard prompt chosen. You can create analysis, each to read the presentation variable (associated with the prompt) and display a record only if a particular company is chosen. (Ex: Create an analysis with one column as @{variables.CompanyPrompt}. Create a filter on it like 'is equal to 'Oracle'. So this analysis, would display a record only if the presentation variable has the value 'Oracle').
I would keep you posted if I hit at any other much efficient way.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,

  • Filter Page Prompts based on Dashboard Prompts Presentation Var

Hey, No one has faced this issue? Can I get some inputs please?
    Hi,
I have a requirement where in I need to filter the multi-select values in the page prompt, based on the presentation variable that is set by dashboard prompt. Oracle said that its a bug,
that once a presentation variable is set, we can't use that in SQL, when using multi select. But, I am wondering if anyone has some work around solution for this?
TO be more clear, here is the explanation.
I have a dashboard prompt that is selected initially in a page, which sets a presentation variable. Now, in another page, I want to use a multi-select prompt, which take the SQl values that filters based on the presentation variable set initially. But, this is not working. I am not able to filter values when I use the SQl like, "select .. from ..where var = presentation_var."
If anyone has any workarounds, thats appreciated.
    Thanks.

Sorry, no such functionality, at least not yet.
Build two dashboards, one for the business users and one for the technical users. Then build a third "cover page" dashboard with two links using the Link or Image object. One link will say "Business Users" the other "Technical Users" and the links will take them to their own dashboard with just the prompts that concern them.
If you want to bypass the "cover page" idea, you can use Portal Path to direct all business users to the "business" dashboard and the technical staff to the "technical" dashboard based on their login.
Check this out for how to do this:

  • Can I pass parameters from a dashboard via a dashboard prompt and presentation variable to publisher report based on a data model with select statements in OBIEE 11g ?

I have a publisher 11g (v 11.1.1.7)  report with a single parameter. The report is based on a data model not a subject area.  I created a dashboard put a dashboard prompt and link to the report in separate section on the same page.  The dashboard prompt sets a presentation variable named the same as the parameter in the report.
The problem was when I created the dashboard prompt, it forced me to select a subject area which I did (though did not want to) and then I created both a column and variable prompts. But clicking on the
report link completely ignored the value that I thought would be passed in the presentation variable to the report.
Side note :  My report uses a pdf template for its layout where I have mapped the columns names from my data model to the form fields on the pdf form.  I noticed that if I create a publisher report based on a subject area, then I do not have the choice to choose a PDF as a template type for my layout.  (I only see BI Publisher Template as a choice).
I see some documentation online that suggest it could be done in 10g.
    Thanks

    Ok,
I just tried that and it still doesn't pass anything to the prompt.
I changed the prompt to an edit field and I made the following weblink but when i click the link from an account it doesn't put anything in the prompt and all data for all accounts is shown.
This is the URL maybe I messed something up...

  • Showing/Hiding Dashboard Prompts dynamically based on User logged on

    Hi
I have query reg a showing/hiding dashboard prompts based on Users logged in.
    What is the best way???
    Please help
    And also anothe quick question
Is there a way that we can change the Label of Dashboard prompt "ABC" for few users and "DEF" for other users
    Thanks in advance
    Cheers

    Hello,
Using guided navigation properties for section, we can achieve your first requirement.
How many prompts to be shown?
depends on that number, you have to create those many reports in answers like,
take one column to criteria and change functionaityt to case when 1=0 then Markets. Region else user() end
apply filter on this equals to UserA (for userA), say ReportA
for UserB filter has to change to UserB, say ReportB...etc
Now, add all the prompts to dashboard, but each section (dashboard object) for each prompt.
Go to section properties of each and select guided navigation property. The section which is holding the PromptA (should be shown to userA) then browse the reportA for guided navigation and click ok
LIke this do for all prompts.
    Hope you understood...
    if any queries ask me..
And for 2nd Q, in prompt, you have Select captio option which is the last option for all prompts,
    Write something there and check

  • Dashboard Prompt - Bypass filter based on value selected in prompt

    Hi All
I need to create a dummy dashboard prompt that has displays two values 'Y' and 'N' (Yes and No). If 'Y' is selected, I want the report to 'Filter based on the results of another request'. If 'N', then the report takes the usual filters (not taking the 'Filter through another request' filter).
I have achieved this in the report filter by using an 'OR' clause (The Project Number is in Project Number Report OR 'N' = 'N' (presentation variable from the prompt) ). So if 'N' is selected the OR clause is satisfied and the results from the report are not taken in. If 'Y', the results from the report are taken in. This part is fine.
The problem is, on the dashboard prompt, there are a few constrained prompts. When these are selected, WHERE clause is attached 'N'='N' (the clause above). So when 'Y' is selected in the prompt, the condition fails and the constrained prompts do not show any results.
So, basically the idea is: How do I make my report run against 'Filter based on results of another request' when 'Y' is selected and bypass this (i.e. take the other filters) when 'N' is selected (Keeping in mind the constrained prompts).
    Thanks
    Ananth

    Hi
I searched a little and found the following link
    http://obiee101.blogspot.com/2009/02/obiee-switching-between-filters.html
This half-solves my problem. The issue is that, the above link uses a example of a dashboard prompt where there is only one 'Yes/No' prompt. What if there is a constrained prompt as well. In that case, when Yes/No is selected, a WHERE clause will be attached to the Constrained prompt (saying 'NO'='YES') and it will show 'No results'.
    Thanks

  • Issue filtering a report (based on narrative view) with a dashboard prompt.

I used HTML and java-script codes in narrative view to solve the issue of "linking different reports on selecting values from a drop-down". A new issue has cropped up due to that implementation. The issue is that i can't attach a dashboard prompt to such a report. This means, when i put this report on a dashboard page with a dashboard prompt to help filter the report, the report does not gets filtered (it does not seems to be connected to the dashboard prompt).
Has anyone faced this issue before? If yes, please let me know how to tackle it at the earliest.

  • Value Based user guided Navigation Using Dashboard Prompt

    Hi all Experts,
I have a different dashboard pages and dashboards for each year sales and so on, like 2001,2002etc in OBIEE 11.1.1.5 answers and dashboard.
My requirement is using dashboard prompt for year need to navigate to that particular dashboard.
for example if I select 2001 should navigate to 2001 Dashboard
if I select 2002 should navigate to 2001 Dashboard.
and for another report for Top 10 Products if I select a product name should navigate to detail product report.
I am not getting idea using guided navigation link,
Please suggest me how we can implement this task into our report.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
my suggestion, don't that way..do the below things..
    1) for year wise sales report.
keep artificial Time Dimension and try map Date column into all othe fact table and try to use time.date column in the dashboard prompt that prompt will list out all the year like (2001,2002..2020..etc) make this propmpt column should be is prompted in that Answres report --> date column
    2) let Product wise report,
report 1 :Product Summary ( call u child report in the column properties -->Interaction--> value Primary interaction--> action link--> select bi content --select it u r report and save it run it.
report 2 :Product Detailed (this report navigation column make sure should be is prompted )

  • OBIEE 11g Dashboard Prompts can be  selected sequencely (unhide/hide)

    Hi,
I want to show dashboard prompt sequencely. The user completed one of dashboard prompt the other prompts can be hide.
How can I make a relationship between dashboard prompts for selection the prompts one by one?
    Do you have any suggestions?
    thank your replies.

Thanks. I would need only ONE Clarification.
the Fact table has data at Date Level. For Example,
    Date Revenue Stage
    20120101 123.98 1a
    20120302 178.965 1b
    20120401 768.99 1c
The report should contain the following columns based on date range selection:- Start Date & End Date
    Start_Date_Revenue End_Date_Revenue Start_Date_Stage End_Date_Stage
So, I have used FILTER(Revenue using Date = 'Presentation Variable for Start Date') & FILTER(Revenue using Date = 'Presentation Variable for End Date') for Revenue Calculation.
Similarly, is there any way to retrieve the stage columns data for each date and show it in report?
Note:_ I have tried the filter function for Dimension Column to bring Stage but it works only for Measure Column

  • How to translate dashboard prompt year/period into literal date range

I am using OBIEE 10g. I have a dashboard that prompts for a fiscal year and fiscal period (both are numeric data types). I need to use these values in the date filter for my answers request - however, to fully utilize the indexes and partitioning that have been set up on my fact table (Teradata database) I need to be able to convert fiscal year/period to a literal date range and pass literal date values (i.e. 10/01/2011 - 10/31/2011) to my answers filter. So far I have been unable to do this, I'm hoping someone has some ideas.
Here are some things I've tried so far:
In the dashboard prompt, set variables var_year and var_period (which would be set to 2012 and 10, respectively). Create a filter on my answers request for Date (from calendar dimension) that calculates a min/max date value based on var_year and var_period. While this works to return data, the sql is not optimized as it does not contain literal date values for the filter (10/01/2011 - 10/31/2011).
Create a subreport that takes the year/period from the dashboard prompt and calculates 2 columns, one for the "From Date" (using min calculation) and one for the "To Date" (using max calculation). Then create a filter on my answers request that uses the results of this subreport to create the date filter. Again this works - however, instead of passing the literal date values for from and to dates, it passes the min/max calculations so that these are executed again in the answers request sql. Therefore again this is not optimized, as it is not passing literal date values for the filter.
I have only been able to get this to work by creating a prompt for entering a from and to date directly, and using this to pass to the answers request filter. This generates optimized sql as it contains literal date values. However, this is not acceptable to the users as they want to enter fiscal year/fiscal period at the dashboard prompt, not a date range.
I have tried to get the fiscal year/fiscal period columns in the dashboard prompt to set another dashboard prompt for a date range, thinking I could then set new presentation variables for those from/to columns to use in the answers request, but I can't figure out how to do this. Is this even possible, to use a dashboard prompt value to set a subsequent dashboard prompt value?
Is there some other method of converting these prompt values to literal dates that I am missing?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
    Rhonda

Disregard. I gave up and just brought in the Fiscal Period Start Date and Fiscal Period End Date to the rpd so I can use them in the dashboard prompt, created presentation variables for each, and used those in the report filter.

  • Dashboard Prompt - Variable - Populate/Calculate column in Pivot Table

    1. I have a need to store the values of three prompts (Year, Quarter and Month) in my dashboard prompt, So a 'column A' (calculated value/measure) can be dynamically populated in my pivot table based on the users chioce.
These prompts have to be multiselect prompts as the user may opt for 2 or more years/ quarters / months etc.
I don't think Presentation Variable would work as I have to use multiselect prompt, I have been trying Non-System Session Variables & dynamic repository variables- but could not get it to work. I am thinking only of using one of the three variables (session/dynamic/presentation) so far, is there a better way to tackle this?
Any help/pointers would be much appreciated, thanks

I should clarify a little: our sales "process" is very simple (not really a process). We do not use Opportunities. We enter new Leads, and if we win the business, we convert them to a Contact. Thus, our "win %" is simply the number of converted Leads divided by the total Leads for a given period. In my table I would like to display the % of Leads for a given period that are converted to Contacts.
    Thanks again.

  • How to use action links or master-detail event in dashboard prompts?

    Hi,
I am new to OBIEE 11g. I have created three reports 1.Daily Data Report, 2.Weekly Data Report 3. Monthly Data Report.
I have created one dashboard prompt in which I have specified choices as Daily, Weekly and Hourly.
My requirement is that when I select the choice as 'Daily' I should get Daily Data report below Dashboard prompt.
When I select the choice as 'Weekly' I should get Weekly Data report below Dashboard prompt
and when I select the choice as 'Monthly' I should get Monthly Data report below Dashboard prompt.
How this can be achieved in OBIEE 11g?

    Hi,
What you do is just put this 3 different reports in 3 different dashboard sections and in section condition assign a condition based on presentation variable so that when u select weekly in the prompt only the weekly section condition should be true and other 2 section conditions should be false, in that case only the true section condition will display and false conditions will hidden.
Try implement this u will definetly can achieve the result.
Note: Create Variable prompt for this as best practice
    Revert for any queries.
    Mark if helpful/correct.
    Thanks
