Calendar Question: Why do all day untimed events switch to all day timed events???

I've complained about this on other threads, but so far nobody has answer. Can somebody please tell me why all day untimed events on the Pre sometimes switch to all day TIMED events (i.e., an event that starts at 12am and ends at 11:59pm)?? My guess is that this is yet another glitch with Google calendar sync, but I would like somebody to weigh in if they know how to fix it. Thanks.
PS--I'm also still waiting for someone from Palm to address the daylight saving time glitch too, if anybody is out there. Thx.

This is happening to me as well. So far, I've noticed it only with repeating events, and not with all of them. I started noticing the problem in late October, at the same time that I noticed some all-day repeating events being moved forward a day (see separate thread). As of today (the 12th), I see a repeating yearly all-day event on the 14th that is changed to a 12:00-11:59 event; and a similar problem with an all-day event on the 20th that is supposed to repeat until the 22nd. In that case, the event is showing only on the 20th and 21st, with the 22nd not showing the event. In this same time period, there are many all-day events repeating yearly that are NOT showing any problems.
At the moment all events seem to be showing up correctly in Google Calendar, which my Pre is syncing to. - Dan

I have 2 calendars set up for my work schedule, a "night shift" and "day shift" calendar. I've set up repeating events fro Fri/Sat/Sun 3-11pm "night shifts" and Mon/Tues 7am-3pm "day shifts". But lets say for example that I swap shifts and instead of working nights on Saturday like I normally would, I am now working days. I want to change that in my calendar. When I go to change the event, if i change the TIME it asks if i want to change all event or ONLY this event. no problem....just this single event. but when i go to change the event from the "night shift" calendar to the "day shift" calendar, it changes ALL the repeating events, and not just that one single event. can anyone help with this??? am i doing something wrong? is there a way to do this or not with the new iCal program??? i used to do this and never had any problems. You need to follow iPhoto terms since we only know what you tell us
what are you calling folders - in iPhoto folders can not hold photos - albums hold photos and folders hold albums or other folders
The basic default view of photo is by event (iPhoto '08 and later)

hello, the addons manager is exactly the right place to look for it. please try disabling the addons that are listed there one-by-one (a restart of the browser might be necessary after each step). maybe one of them is bundling this kind of adware.

Why are all my calendars the same?

every calendar i make shows all my events, to dos, birthdays etc.
i am sure it is something i am doing wrong otherwise ical is useless, why do i need multiple calendars all showing the same info?
when i uncheck "show birthday calendar" it removes birthdays from all calendars not the one i am working in.

I am not sure if I understand your issue, so I will try to clarify.
You say that when you uncheck "show birthday calendar" it removes birthdays from all calendars. But the birthday calendar is its own calendar, and as such birthdays will only show in the birthday calendar not all calendars. Is that not the case?
If you select the weekly view for example, don't you see color coded events - assuming you have used different colors for each calendar you have - that "belong" to each calendar?
When creating a new event, are you not able to choose which calendar it will belong to?

Here is the funny thing:
Everything is correct syntax wise: No complaints what soever
The mysql part works: Tested separately.
So I tend to think that the problem lies within the SAX parser. I have written SAX2 parsers on this machine before and they have worked too. I tried inserting println statements all over startElement endElement etc etc only to find out that the SAX parser did not call any of the methods that I overided!! Why is that so?

Why does Calendar take up so much space and why can't I add events or sync?

Since I updated to ios7, my calendar hasn't worked at all. It used to sync with my Google calendar. Now I can't see any events in my calendar. The + sign to add an event is always greyed out so I can't add events. And something I've just noticed is that Calendar takes up 473 MB of space on my phone, making it one of the biggest users of space. (This might be related. If I search for an event in my calendar, it shows a long long long list of events that all say "New Event" that are scheduled to last all day. I can't delete these. It says they are assigned to "Untitled Calendar."
I've tried all sorts of combinations of turning on and off syncing calendars with Google and with iCloud. I can't detect any change. (My Mavericks calendar works just fine and syncs with Google.)

I have just bought an iMac and when it has sync'd my calendar from my iphone all the appointments are showing on the Mac a day earlier than they appear on my iphone. Help?

I have just invested in an iMac but when it has sync'd my calendar from my phone all my events are appearing one day earlier. I have checked the time zone and set it to Apple Europe. It sounds like your events synced to your computer from the phone and they are all an hour out of sync. I recommend verifying that time zone support is turned on with your iCloud calendar if you are using iCloud:
Use a time zone other than the default
In iCloud Calendar, choose Preferences from the Action pop-up menu below the sidebar.
Click Advanced, select “Enable time zone support,” then click Save.
With time zone support on, a “time zone” pop-up menu appears when you create an event, letting you set any time zone you want.
You can also reset the default time zone for your calendars (and their events) at any time.

If not, I would verify that your iPhone date and time are set correctly with the correct time zone support information:

Why are Happy birthday! events suddenly showing up on my iPad calendar?

My birthday is Tuesday, 10/30 and this morning I noticed that 122 all day events showed up on my iPad calendar for that day. The following information is contained in the details fields:
Event Name: Happy birthday!
Accepted by: Contacts Unknown
Notes: Happy birthday!
I created a new contact to see what information was published and this is the email address that shows up:

Checked my calendars on the MacBook, the MacPro and my iPhone - this problem is only happening on my iPad. I cannot delete these events which is very troubling.
Is anyone else having this problem? Before I call Apple I thought I'd check the community!

Hi guys,
I think I've found a solution. I went to https://www.google.com/calendar/iphoneselect and turned off the contacts birthday calendar from syncing. I then went into settings for my calendars and turned them all off as well as my contacts. I then checked the contacts had been deleted from the device and the calendar was also gone. I then closed both the calendar and contacts apps, and then turned the calendar and contacts back on in the settings app. Duplicates are now gone!
Hope it works for you as we'll. even if you don't show a birthday calendar go ahead and update the I formation at this link and it may still fix the problem. My friend did have the calendar but repeated birthdays were still gone once she updated at this link.

Events created on iPhone NOT synching to Calendar - and I'm all up to date

I'm on a MacBook, running 10.4.10, all software is latest up to date, running iPhone 1.0.1.
I have a Calendar event I created yesterday for today (3pm appt). I've plugged/unplugged to sync repeatedly, iTunes reports sync is finished, but the event doesn't make it onto the MacBook's Calendar.
This is deeply alarming as I thought I could count on iPhone created events to migrate to my Mac and .Mac calendars - anybody know anything more about this?

I'm experiencing a hybrid variation of what everyone else in this thread has reported.
*Calendars*
I am using Entourage, and have two calendars set up in iCal. One is labeled Entourage and according to the notes, "This calendar is automatically created by Microsoft Entourage" so I'm leaving that one alone. I also created a second calendar named "iPhone". I have my iPhone sync preferences in iTunes set to sync with both calendars. Up until today (I hadn't synced calendars in a few days), everything seemed to move to and fro without any issues.
This morning though, the items I changed in iPhone successfully synced to both calendars in iCal, but did not carry over to Entourage. Even the "Entourage" calendar in iCal reflects all the changes. Similarly, items I added in Entourage are not making it over to the iPhone.
In iTunes, I have the preferences set to add new events from the iPhone into the Entourage calendar.

Contacts don't appear to be syncing in either direction.
Short story long, it looks like iCal and the iPhone are getting along swimmingly, but Entourage isn't syncing. I find this odd since the Entourage-created calendar in iCal looks fine - I would think if Entourage is showing as updated in iCal...then it would be updated in Entourage.
I did reset the sync history...that didn't appear to do anything helpful.
Entourage is my main calendar/address book...so this is a bit frustrating.

Do you happen to have a Mac? If so, and if you use iCloud to sync your calendars, you can do that on your Mac and your iPad will understand. But you cannot create such a repitition (or something like the third Tuesday of each month) on your iPad.
In Calendar on your Mac, you would create the event, choose "Custom ..." as the repitition frequency, then choose "Days" and choose every 3 days.

How to place untimed event

I am using Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on Mac. OS X.4. When I list an untimed event it use to stay at the top. but when I view the entire month, the untimed events are in different place on different days. In fact in some places it ends up at the bottom and pushes the timed events out of view. Any suggestions?

I have the same problem. I am also using Palm Desktop 4.2.1 on a Mac with OS 10.3.9. I emailed palm support for help with the issue and this was the response: "This is actually normal and occurs infrequently for no particular reason. As a workaround, I suggest that you try to view the events instead in the daily or weekly view. You may also try recreating the events for that particular day on the monthly view."
I found this to be pretty much no help at all since I need to view in montly view in order to print out a copy. I've tried deleting the events in question and re-entering them, but it doesn't help. Maybe it will work for you though!
I would also disagree with the tech's suggestion that this happens 'infrequently' -- for me, it happens VERY frequently. For instance, this month, I have 20 untimed events and only 3 (!) of them are at the top of the date square. Some are in the middle and about half of them are at the bottom of the date square and pretty much invisible -- I can only see the outline of the event box but cannot read it and cannot scroll down if there is not a a event below. Very very aggravating. I hope someone has a solution to this or that Palm is working on a solution because it's just not cool.

I use untimed events for my day planning. I would like to move the events up or down on the calendar relating to their priorty. Is there a way to do this

Why don't my iphoto event names match up to my iphoto master file names?

I recently downloaded Yosemite, which has slowed my laptop down significantly. This has prompted me to transfer all large files - photos, movies and music off my laptop and onto an external hard drive (in addition to my time machine backup hard drive).
I was instructed (at the Apple Store) to open Finder then Pictures > iPhoto Library. Then to right click on the iPhoto Library folder and select 'show package contents', this reveals a large list of folders but I understand that the Masters folder is the one to care about with respect to back ups. When I open up Masters I can see 8 folders labelled 2007 - 2014. In each of these folders are other folders housing all the jpeg files.
THE PROBLEM:
For some reason in the 2007-2009 folders the Master file names match up to the Event names in iPhoto. This is great and makes sense! However, after 2009 everything gets really messed up in the Masters folder - despite my iPhoto Library being meticulously organised into Events that are all labelled. For example, when I open up the 2014 folder the path looks like this 2014 > 10 > 06 > 20141006-214510 > which then houses the jpeg images. It looks to me like these folders represent upload events as opposed to the Events that I organised them into in the front end of iPhoto. WHY!?!
THE QUESTIONS:
Why is this happening? And can I fix it so that it doesn't happen when I next import photos into iPhoto?
Should I just stop using iPhoto?
What happens if I change the names of the Master folders in the back end of iPhoto to reflect the Event names in the front end? Would it be better to just organise them on my hard drive?

1. It's not a problem as you never ever access your photos in this way.
2. If you want to back up your original photos you do this via the Export function: File -> Export

3. None of this saves space on your HD. To do that you need to move your Library from the HD to the external:
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
a. Quit iPhoto
b. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
c. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
d. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.
4. That particular Apple Genius isn't.

It's happening as that is how iPhoto works and there is nothing ti fix. Exporting makes the issue redundant.
