Call BPM flow from EJB container

Hi,
I wondered, since we can start a BPM flow through a webservice call, how we could call a webservice from an EJB 3.x container?
Anyone an idea?
Thx,
Wesley

You mean from a bean?
Like any other web service call, in which case your EJB will be a WS-Client

  • Calling a Java aplication from EJB container

    We have a standalone Java application which is thread safe, and works well when called from web container. Now we are planning to call this app from EJB container (We are using OC4J) i.e our client apps which call this Java app will be written as EJBs. Our concern is to make sure that our application's thread mechanism does not conflict with EJB Container's thread mechanism. Any thoughts on this will be appreciated. Thanks. (Mubashar Tariq)

    Thread management isn't really a problem as long as you keep a couple of things in mind:
    1. You(r EJB) can only act on incoming calls (or messages) or so to say
    2. You're not allowed to spawn threads when acting on an incoming call
    3. Calls via RMI may timeout (check the default SocketFactory for the timeout, I think it's about 3 mins)
    Calling an outside application isn't really a problem as well I think. As long as you remember the two rules above and the following: an EJB cannot have two 'clients'. So if your application gets called and you're somehow able to reach (within your standalone application) the EJB, you're not allowed to call it (because it's already called by somebody else, on which the EJB acts).
    Also you should check if OC4J (I don't really know) offers the possibility of having resourcemanagers for RMI. Just opening an RMI connection might not be possible from an EJB. HTTP however is (but then you would have to open an HTTP server at the client, the rules above would not apply then however).
    The solution I see:
    either bind a Object in the RMI Registry you create at the client or open a ServerSocket. Somehow the EJB making the client application gets called (via the Web part???), it contacts the client application via the ServerSocket or the RemoteObject and does it work. Then the business method ends and the thread the EJB is working on dies...

  • Error while calling PI webservice from EJB

    Hi Experts,
    We are getting exception while calling PI webservice from EJB which is deployed in CE 7.2. Earlier we used to call the same webservice but from different PI system at that it worked fine. Now we have changed the consumer proxies required in CE and tried to call from CE and it is throwing error. We have checked usernames and passwords that we are using to call the service and that is working fine. PI team tested from their side and li is also fine. We have also restarted the CE system but invain. Can somebody help on this.  The below is the trace that we got.

    Hi Pradeep,
    this looks like if the server is not reachable. Have you checked if both server are able to communicate? Maybe firewall rules block the request.

  • Calling stored procedure from EJB in JSever

    I have some trouble to call stored procedure from EJB deployed to JServer on Oracle8i (815).
    I have been able to sucessfully test the stored procedure using thin client JDBC driver. But when I user the default connection in JServer, the stored procedure never got called. Is there any restriction of EJB in JServer?
    Thanks
    null

    Thanks man! that was a great help. looks like i am almost there. i created those items t obe hidden.
    now i am passing three parameters to the procedure. my url for that column value looks like this,
    javascript:P65_PARTITION_ID=#PARTITION_ID#;P65_DBC=#DBC#;P65_FILE_ID=#FILE_ID#;doSubmit('Sku_Save');
    the #DBC# parameter is a name of the person that has spaces(firstname lastname). i am getting a javascript error saying,
    Line: 1
    Char: 37
    Error:Expected ';'
    i see that char 37 is the space after firstname.
    any idea how i should get rid of this error.
    Also, as you have been very helpful, a question further beyond :). the above procedure will return a OUT varchar parameter. i guess i have to create another item for that. how do i read it and display just below my report as text.
    Thanks Again!

  • Can we call Data flow Task as Container

    Hi All,
    Can we call Data flow Task as Container  If So what are conditions required to Satisfy as a Container
    Thanks
    Ravindra

    Hi kavali1985,
    Containers are objects in SQL Server Integration Services that provide structure to packages and services to tasks. They support repeating control flows in packages, and they group tasks and containers into meaningful units of work. Containers can include
    other containers in addition to tasks.
    Packages use containers for the following purposes:
    • Repeat tasks for each element in a collection, such as files in a folder, schemas, or SQL Server Management Objects (SMO) objects.
    • Repeat tasks until a specified expression evaluates to false.
    • Group tasks and containers that must succeed or fail as a unit.
    The Data Flow task encapsulates the data flow engine that moves data between sources and destinations, and lets the user transform, clean, and modify data as it is moved. Addition of a Data Flow task to a package control flow makes it possible for the package
    to extract, transform, and load data. We can add Data Flow task to Containers, but Containers can’t be included in Data Flow tasks.
    Reference:
    Integration Services Containers
    Data Flow Task
    If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.

  • Programatically calling control flows from java code

    Hi all,
    I have a bounded taskFlow that uses pageFragments. This flow is a region in a page(.jspx).
    In my page fragment, I have a inputComboboxListOfValues with a ValueChangeListener code in a java bean.
    I want when a value is changed, to programatically call "controll flow" (this one has: "From Activity Id" -the page fragment with that inputComboboxListOfValues, and "To Activity Id" - the default Activity on this task Flow).
    So when the value change, practically I want to restart the flow programatically and pass the selected value as input parameter.
    Since the inputComboboxListOfValues is not like a button where in the "Action" property you can set the Control Flow and navigate somewhere, the only option I have is to programatically cause navigation from java code (example: the value change listener code).
    Can this be achieved?
    Any advice is helpfull.

    Hi,
    Absolutely, you can do it using the NavigationHandler. Try the following in you value change listener:
    FacesContext context = FacesContext.getcurrentInstance();
    NavigationHandler handler = context.getApplication().getNavigationHandler();
    handler.handleNavigation(context, null, outcome);
    // Render the response after that phase, the button actions should not be called
    context.renderResponse();
    // Add the following line if you want to prevent further value change listeners to be called
    // throw new AbortProcessingException();Regards,

  • Question? calling a servlet from EJB.

    Can anyone tell me how I would go about calling a servlet
    from a session bean that’s running in the same J2EE application.
    Application server is Oracle10g.
    Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum
    You seem to be misunderstanding something. Do some googling to learn what you need about servlets. Simplified, servlets are java code that's hosted by a web container, such as Tomcat. When a servlet gets called as a consequence of someone requesting a url from the container, it takes in a request object and a response object. All the magic is then in creating an appropriate response (e.g. html) for the incoming request.

  • Calling Web Service from EJB using HTTP Client

    Hi,
    Scenario:
    I need to Call a Web Service from an EJB Application.I used HttpClient for calling the Web Service in the EJB Application. When i call the execute method of the HttpCLient it throws an exception
    The element type "META" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</META>"
    The input XML does not have a node called META.
    When i call the Web Service using Http Client form an Java Application it is working fine.
    Kindly Suggest me the changes/steps that needs to be done
    Regards,
    S.V.Satish Kumar

    Hi Manish,
    SOAP adapter does pass the message to XI (this message contains SOAP envelope although XI expects to get message without it), and during the mapping step i get "Runtime Exception in Message-Mapping transformatio~".
    I suppose it's because i created proxy manually. I did so because when i imported WSDL, and tried to generate proxy in CRM, i got an error message that said that proxy couldn't be generated because external definitions are only allowed in XI 3. But my XI version is 3.0! And when I generate the same proxy in my R/3 system that is installed on WAS 640, it works.
    What can I do?
    Cheers,
    Anya.

    Please have a look at the stacktrace and provide me a solution as in how to overcome the error.
    I had included Report.trace in order to check the flow of the program and found that the problem arises when i establish the connection.

  • Calling stored procedure from within container TX

    Hi
    I am calling a stored procedure that resides locally (Oracle) from within a session
    bean after updating a number of ejb's. The stored procedure works fine if it performs
    a simple delete. However, the stored procedure is in turn calling another stored
    procedure that may reside in a different db. In such a case the update to the
    ejb's in not reflected at all. Is this possible to do this within one tx? BTW
    there is a reason I'm not calling the remote SP directly.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I am not sure if I fully understand your question, but here is a list of points which you
    should check:
    - transaction boundaries
    - transaction isolation level
    - XA datasources and drivers
    - are the changes from the SP commited properly to the database ?
    - also note that WLS5.1 (if you are using it ?) supports 2 phase commit only with a
    single datasource

      URL myurl12 = cl.getResource("/"); //works not! (without getClass())
      URL myurl2 = cl.getClass().getResource("/version.txt"); //works
      URL myurl3 = cl.getClass().getResource("version.txt");//works not (relativ)
      URL myurl4 = cl.getClass().getResource("/apps/sap.com/dc~oracle~ear/src/java/src.zip");//works
      URL myurl5 = cl.getClass().getResource("/apps/sap.com/dc/oracle/ear/src/java/src.zip");//works not
      URL myurl6 = cl.getClass().getResource("/apps/sap.com/dc~oracle~ear/src/java/src.zip/de/pa/ejb/systeme/SystemeDao.java");//works not
      URL myurl7 = cl.getClass().getResource("/apps/sap.com/dc~oracle~ear/src/java/src.zip/de.pa.ejb.systeme/SystemeDao.java");//works not
      URL myurl8 = cl.getClass().getResource("/apps/sap.com/dc~oracle~ear/src/java/src.zip/de.pa.ejb.systeme.SystemeDao.java");//works not
    As you can see with "myurl14" it works for a zip-file but not futher. How can I get Into an archive? Or even adress things relative?
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks
    Richard

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks a lot for ur reply,
    But the LD_LIBRARY PATH is set to the user that runs the App Server, Since it is throwing a UnsatisfiedLinkError, there must be a problem with the link only(i.e calling native method).
    The flow of data is as follows
    1 A method from ejb calls another java method in an other java class which is in the same jar file,passing the actual arguments.
    2 That java method calls the Native methos residing in the same class file
    3 The Native mentod calls a c function as usual
    My ejb is working fine up to the Native Method call, at this point it is throwing an error
    All my java files are in a package, and my .h file contains package name in the prototype of c function
    If you get any ideas please mail me ASAP
    ThanQ
    Kiran
