Call SQLGLM creates core dump segmentation fault in oracle 9i database

Hi,
I am doing call to SQLGLM to get description of error message. This always worked in oracle 9i 32 bit but it does not work with 64 bit installation. I get core dump and segmentation fault.
Please help.

  • SRW.APPLY_DEFINITION cause (core dumped) Segmentation fault

    When I run report under Concurrent manager, i.e. within Oracle Applications I get this error:
    (core dumped) Segmentation fault.
    I use SRW.APPLY_DEFINITION in After Parameter Form. When I remove SRW.APPLY_DEFINITION report runs fine.
    I tried following in the command line:
    $ ar60runb report=/PATH_TO_RDF_FILE/NAME.rdf batch=yes destype=file desname=/PATH_TO_OUTPUT_FILE/NAME.out desformat=XML
    and I get this error:
    ar60runb: uisfz.c:173: uisfzfn_Fns: Assertion `0' failed.
    Aborted (core dumped)
    When I remove "batch=yes" or use "batch=no" everything passed fine.
    I get the same result when I use .RDF file without SRW.APPLY_DEFINITION in the code.
    I have applied the solution from Note:368457.1 but it didn't help.
    I want to set "batch=no" when I run report under Oracle Applications or just resolve this problem somehow.

  • Redhat 6.0 Webdb 2.2 Server 8.1.5 sqlplus core dump segmentation fault solution

    If anyone else is struggling with this installation, heres a workaround that
    Got things going for me.
    Redhat 6.0
    Oracle 8.1.5
    Webdb 2.2
    The database was up and working fine. Not as many problems as earlier versions but there was still much grief getting it to work. Save yourself some time, dont charge ahead like I did, read the installation notes.
    The installation of Webdb didnt go so well though. Sqlplus would core dump with segmentation fault when a connection to the local instance was attempted. I tried many things, install webdb to 8.1.5 , apply glibc patch, apply 8.0.5 patches to webdb install none of this worked. The workaround I finally found was to use the 8.1.5 listener and the old formatting of a listener.ora and tnsnames.ora file. (i.e. like 7.3.x). Sqlplus would then connect via tcp. Installation still had another problem I could never get past the sys password confirmation. I could connect from the command line with sqlplus s /nolog @passwd.sql sys/mypass@mytnsname but the installer just wouldnt work. An edit of the installation_dir ->webdb-2.2/owa40/owa40.vrf file did the trick. Hard code a location to a dummy pass.sys file.
    After many frustrating hours 160 or so - I think I finally have a working database and a working webdb web site. Hope this info might help others.

    o Did you end up with 8.1.5 and WebDB2.2 in different Oracle_homes?
    Yes - product/8.1.5
    - product/8.0.5
    o What do you mean that you used the 8.1.5 listener? My database is 8.1.5 so the tnslistener I'm using is from the 8.1.5 install - not the 8.0.5 version.
    o Can you send a sample of the tnsnames.ora file that you used?
    Sure - make sure you set TNS_ADMIN

  • Creating core dump

    Hi,
    i want to debug some programs and i therefor want them to core dump on segmentation fault. But i'm not able to make arch create a core dump file.
    The problem is that i'm not allowed to change ulimits. Whenever i try to change it with my normal user account i get:
    lothar@timbutu:~$ ulimit -c 10000
    bash: ulimit: core file size: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted
    Root does not have this problems. I tried to set reasonable limits in /etc/security/limits.conf:
    *               soft    core            100000
    *               hard    core            100000
    but that didn't help. Any ideas?
    Regards,
      Lothar

    No, i wasn't. But joining users and relogin didn't help. I still get
    lothar@timbutu:~$ ulimit -c 10000
    bash: ulimit: core file size: cannot modify limit: Operation not permitted

    I found this thread via good ol google and given the age, thought I'd add what I heard from EMC this morning. I was told that this should be fixed in Powerpath 5.2 SP1 (due out in Aug or Sep 08).
    I also found this issue referred to in ID emc190249 on powerlink (Subject: "Unable to create ZFS pool on emcpower device"). Account required: http://knowledgebase.emc.com/emcice/documentDisplay.do?docType=1006&clusterName=DefaultCluster&resultType=5002&groupId=1&page=&docProp=$solution_id&docPropValue=emc190249&passedTitle=null
    I installed an x86_64 sol 10 u5 on an x2200 connected to our Clariion CX3-20c, but was unable to get MPxIO to work, hence I reverted to PP. I'm using an emulex HBA with 120223-28 (SunFC emlxs v20080520-2.31g). Basically all tools indicate seeing all paths to my lun, but I can't open it using format. It shows the auto-mapped device but can't get the geometry on it (shows drive type unknown). I also see log messages indicating 'multipath optimal' but then several 'drive offline' lines further down.
    If I disable MPxIO via stmsboot -d, format shows my lun across my four paths, and I can open/format two of those that are identified correctly (I'm assuming one on each SP). I haven't tested, but I'm think that I would see the mentioned loss of failover as zfs would be talking directly to one path.
    My current thinking is that there is either a bug in zpool/zfs or, perhaps more likely, my drive conf files are fubar. My current scsi_vhci.conf - comments excluded:
    name="scsi_vhci" class="root";
    load-balance="round-robin";
    auto-failback="enable";
    device-type-scsi-options-list =
    "DGC RAID", "symmetric-option";
    symmetric-option = 0x1000000;
    And in case anyone is curious, there are exactly eight characters between DGC and RAID.
    If anyone is still listening, any thoughts?

  • Dbxml Core Dump Seg Fault

    Hi - We are currently using dbxml for many years successfully on CentOS and FreeBSD.  Recently,we have been trying to get our dbxml application to run on Joyent's SmartOS platform.
    Through the help of Joyent, we are able to build sbxml 2.5.16 binaries on smartos.  Build ntes here:
    https://github.com/joyent/smartos-live/issues/236
    However, when we run the application, the java core dumps - both on jdk 7 and jdk 6.  Same code runs find on other platforms.  Core dump is included in the above post.  Not sure if anyone here might have an idea on what is causing this.

    Hi Lauren,
    Thanks for the response.  Here is what I posted about this on the smartos forums.  They helped me in getting dbxml to compile on smartos.  Including using an xquilla patch:
    OK, so the build problem you're having there appears to be an error in the C++ source for xqilla. This diff appears to fix that:
    --- pristine/dbxml-2.5.16/xqilla/src/items/DatatypeFactoryTemplate.hpp 2009-01-07 11:46:13.000000000 +0000 +++ dbxml-2.5.16/xqilla/src/items/DatatypeFactoryTemplate.hpp 2013-07-11 08:17:00.638395661 +0000 @@ -79,7 +79,7 @@ AnyAtomicType::Ptr createInstance(const XMLCh* value, const DynamicContext* context) const { - return createInstanceNoCheck(DatatypeFactoryTemplate<TYPE>::getPrimitiveTypeURI(), + return this->createInstanceNoCheck(DatatypeFactoryTemplate<TYPE>::getPrimitiveTypeURI(), DatatypeFactoryTemplate<TYPE>::getPrimitiveTypeName(), value, context); }
    Here is the post about the core dump:
    Hi - OK, so apparently, the newly compiled code core dumps the JVM every time I try to call the openContainer method.
    At first, I thought this was a code issue or a jdk 7 issue. However, I've compiled dbxml on smartos via the instructions in above thread using both jdk 6 and jdk 7 and I get the same core dump on the same call.
    Also, tested the code on jdk 7 and jdk 6 on FreeBSD, Linux and Solaris and everything works OK.
    I also thought it was a problem with my data, but I tried this create a fresh container using dbxml shell.
    Same thing. So it seems to be a problem with the dbxml build specific to smartos.
    Anyone have any ideas on where I can start looking for a solution?

  • OCI Call resulting in core dump

    Hi,
    I have a C++ code that is resulting in segmentation fault when for a particular query define_by_position( ) (this calles OCI odefin()) is called. this function is running in loop and for other queries it successfully completes but for one particular query it always result in seg fault. Code was compiled for Solaris using following compiler with -m64 flag.

  • [SOLVED] Adobe Reader (acroread) Segmentation Fault (KDE)

    Hello everyone!
    I've been playing with arch quite a long time and I have a problem with the acroread package, which I installed from the AUR.

    Well, I found a workaround, for those who really need acroread and want it well integrated into the KDE environment.
    The solution is to use another KDE look-alike theme, QtCurve, instead of the "problematic" oxygen-gtk for GTK2 applications.
    What you have to do is install the following packages from the AUR:
    gtk-engines
    qtcurve-gtk2
    qtcurve-kde
    lib32-qtcurve-gtk2
    and also lib32-gtk-engines if it isn't resolved as a dependency.
    You will also need to install the kde-gtk-config package from the AUR.
    Then go to: KDE System Settings > Application Appearance > GTK, select QtCurve as the GTK2 theme and enjoy acroread and other GTK2 applications (well not fully, but the QtCurve theme is OK) integrated into your KDE desktop!
    PS1: QtCurve is not (yet?) available for GTK3, so I left oxygen-gtk there.
    PS2: Status changed to solved.

  • Solaris 9 + Checkpoint R55 CORE DUMPING, HELP!

    Here are the list of revisions I have installe donto the machine:
    Solaris 9 (core install) (09/04)
    Checkpoint R55 (HFA 15)
    Recommended 9 (07/18/05).
    When we are running the commands 'cpstart' and 'cpstop' the Solaris 9 OS follows by doing 2/3 core dumps each time. We have redone this box to check if its a fault with the install but it still core dumps each time with use the 'cpstart' and 'cpstop' commands to start and stop the Checkpoint R55 software.
    >
    # cpstop
    Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
    Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
    VPN-1/FW-1 stopped
    SVN Foundation: cpd stopped....... etc.
    Has anyone got and ideas or suggestions?
    its has been suggested to send this onto our Solaris VAR for interrogation to have the dumps put through some sort of analyser, but we have no support (media kit only) HELP!

    we're also unable to connect to the box using the r55 checkpoint software (if anyone knows about this)
    "....make sure your server is up and running and that you're defined as a GUI client".
    it WAS working before appliying the Recommended_9 patch

  • Segmentation fault calling an oracle db status script

    HI,
    I have a problem on a OEL 5 cluster with an Oracle 10.2.0.3 in active/passive environment (not RAC).
    When the Oracle Cluster service script checks the status of the service sometimes I have segmentation fault error.
    The script is:
    #!/bin/sh
    # Cluster service script to start, stop, and check status of oracle
    set -xv
    case $1 in
    start)
    su - oracle -c /home/oracle/startdb.sh
    RetVal=$?
    stop)
    su - oracle -c /home/oracle/stopdb.sh
    RetVal=$?
    status)
    su - oracle -c /home/oracle/statusdb.sh
    RetVal=$?
    esac
    set +xv
    exit $RetVal
    The error log of the executing the "status" part of the script is:
    + case $1 in
    + su - oracle -c /home/oracle/statusdb.sh
    /usr/local/sbin/oraclust.sh: line 16: 6779 Segmentation fault su - oracle -c /home/oracle/statusdb.sh
    + RetVal=139
    This script is executed every 30 seconds but I have the error once every 10 hours.
    What could it be?
    Many thanks.

  • Set_thread_id Segmentation fault

    Hello,
    I want to use set_thread_it to do some multi-process work,but i always got a Segmentation fault when open a database after i use the set_thread_id function.
    the code is:
    static void thread_id(DB_ENV *, pid_t *, db_threadid_t *);
    int main(int argc, char *argv[])
    int ret = 0;
    DB_ENV *envp = NULL;
    DB *dbp = NULL;
    ret = db_env_create(&envp, 0);
    ret = envp->set_thread_count(envp, 16);
    ret = envp->open(envp, "master", DB_CREATE|DB_INIT_MPOOL|DB_THREAD|DB_INIT_TXN|DB_INIT_LOG|DB_RECOVER, 0);
    ret = envp->set_thread_id(envp, thread_id);
    ret = db_create(&dbp, envp, 0);
    printf("before dbopen %d.\n", pthread_self());
    ret = dbp->open(dbp, NULL, "test.db", NULL, DB_BTREE, DB_CREATE, 0);
    printf("after dbopen.\n");
    disconnection(&envp, &dbp);
    getchar();
    return 0;
    static void thread_id(DB_ENV dbenv, pid_t pid, db_threadid_t *tid)
    *pid = getpid();
    *tid = (unsigned int)pthread_self();
    printf("pid is %d, tid is %ld.\n", pid, tid);
    then i will got:
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    before dbopen -1208727872.
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    pid is 4545, tid is -1208727872.
    Segmentation fault
    but if i'm not use the set_thread_id func ,everything is ok.
    does anyone has ideas on that?
    BTW:system status is Linux xxx 2.6.9-42.10AXsmp #1 SMP Tue Mar 13 10:34:18 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

    Michael,
    Thanks for your reply.
    in above codes, if I change this line:
    *tid = (unsigned int)pthread_self();
    into :
    tid = & ((unsigned int)pthread_self());
    the Segmentation fault will not occur. But I dont know whether the actual function will achieved this way.
    You mention that if the system has POSIX, we dont have to setup this callback, our codes will run on Solaris/Linux, does this mean we can call the Env->failchk(0) directly without setting up "set_thread_id" and "set_is_alive" ?
    Thanks very much.

  • Tracing speciific transactions (bus code core dump)

    hi

    with regards

    I completed testing all the code.
    First I verified that my makefile and
    runtime environment were both 1.1.8.
    DOMSample - ok
    DOMNamespace - failed
    SAXSample - failed
    SAXNamespace - failed
    Tokenize - ok
    So - what where is it failing
    I found that the parse method was failing
    ==parser.parse(url);
    The URL was not the problem. The only
    other differences in the example code is
    that these flags are set -- When you add them
    to DOMNamespace - THE EXAMPLE WORKS!
    // Set various parser options: validation on,
    // warnings shown, error stream set to stderr.
    parser.setErrorStream(System.err);
    parser.setValidationMode(true);
    parser.showWarnings(true);

    You actually need to run it with "check -access"; memuse and leaks won't help with the crash, which happens because of illegal memory access. Hopefully, "check -access" will help you to locate the bad guy, but that's not panacea either.
    To be precise:
    - start dbx
    $ dbx <your app>
    - issue
    (dbx) check -access
    (dbx) run
    and wait for dbx to stop and report suspicious memory access.

  • [Solved]xfce 4.12: Display Settings - Segmentation fault (core dumped)

    Just upgraded to Xfce 4.12  from 4.10 last week I have just one big issue so far: the display settings panel doesn't work. When I click on it, nothing happens.
    If I run from terminal xfce4-display-settings I get "Segmentation fault (core dumped)" and with "gdb xfce4-display-settings" the output says "Reading symbols from xfce4-display-settings...(no debugging symbols found)...done."
    What I'm thinking of is a missing dep. Since upgraded to 4.12 I also have a problem with Docky which displays a horizontal black line with shadow on my screen. I don't know if it's related, but this is the output when I run Docky from terminal: http://pastebin.com/cT5XNvWU
    Before upgrading to 4.12, for some months, I had issues with xrandr which didn't detect my  laptop screen resolution (full hd) and I had to manually add a profile that fits my normal resolution, otherwise I would had a resolution of 640x480px (this one is shown right now in my nVidia settings in "X Screen Information" section). I don't know if it's related, but I'm just saying.
    I'm using bumblebee for my nvidia card & xf86-video-intel for my integrated graphics card. Yeah, I have hybrid graphics (Asus laptop).
    General info:
    - arch x86_64
    - kernel 3.18.6-1
    - slim display manager (just saw the warning on archwiki that this one has been abandoned)
    - bumblebee & intel driver
    - xfce 4.12
    Anyone facing the same issue?

    While not logged in, try renaming ~/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/display.xml. A new one will be re-created on next login. There may be something in that file creating the crash.

  • Segmentation Fault (core dumped)

    Hello.
    Guys I got an issue.
    I have a server running Solaris version 9.
    When I execute a command and it returns the result I get this message:
    Segmentation Fault (core dumped)
    for example
    df -h
    gzip
    I am also getting this messages when executing dmesg:
    Nov 11 18:39:12 TRSTSQATREMDB01 genunix: [ID 603404 kern.notice] NOTICE: core_log: logger[8730] core dumped: /var/core/core_TR STSQATREMDB01_logger_0_0_1289518751_8730
    Nov 11 18:49:35 TRSTSQATREMDB01 genunix: [ID 603404 kern.notice] NOTICE: core_log: logger[9922] core dumped: /var/core/core_TR STSQATREMDB01_logger_0_0_1289519375_9922
    Why Am I getting this messages, is it time to reboot ?
    Thanks for your help.

    It is a generic error message which is due to multiple reasons..
    1) /tmp full.
    2) Wrong Inventory locations.
    3) Wrong Library
    4) Broken softlinks.
    etc.
    We have faced one such issue recently.. Where the some softlinks under $ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin was broken.
    Please do these basic checks.
    Paste the command with error here if you are still facing issue.
