Call to bcp.exe returns -1073741819

The same snippet of code that calls bcp.exe to create a dat file from a table query works correctly in a simple vb.Net test app but returns error
-1073741819 when the same code is executed in a more complex vb.Net program on the same Win7 Ultimate VMWare session. Making build options the same for both projects has had no effect.
I have been unable to determine why the same call to bcp.exe is successful from the simple test application but not from the more complex application

  • Java.exe return codes - windows

    I have a java application being run from a batch file on WindowsNT4sp6a using Sun's j2se 1.3.0 (build 1.3.0-C) with Java Hotspot (TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0-C, mixed mode) and during the course of running the app (confirmed that it happens at different places in the app by observing logs), the VM simply dies with no exceptions thrown that my java app can catch.
    But, using MS batch environment variable ERRORLEVEL, I observe that the java.exe is returning 3 as the return code. I also have observed that java.exe returns 0 normally.
    Can anyone clue me into where I can find info about what return code 3 is?
    Also, are there any VM log/tracing mechanisms I can turn on to help debug this problem?

    Thank you for your reply.
    But, this is why this is so weird ... I am the programmer (well, maintenace programmer), and the java program is not using System.exit(), therefore, the java.exe should return 0 (zero) when the end of the main() is reached (right?).
    But, it doesn't, it returns 3 ....
    Well, I know the end of the main() is not being reached (because the program is not completing its' task). Plus, all the code is wrapped in try { ... } catch(Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } ... and no exceptions!
    Then, I wrapped all that in try { ... } catch(Error err) { System.out.println("caught an error!"); } ... but no dice, whatever is happening, it is out of the control of my java program.
    What could this mean, I am assuming (and correct me if I am wrong) that if I don't call System.exit(3), then it must be the jvm itself returning that code (3) .... and probably due to an internal error ... and I would assume the internal error is in some manner being caused by my code, but if I had a list of possible return codes for this specific jvm implementation and their meanings, then I would have an idea of what to look for in the code.
    I was just hoping someone could point me in the right direction on this forum quickly, but I guess I will have to earn my pay and figure it out the old fashioned way ... work!.
    Just to add:
    My current game plan is to check all the JDBC code, it looks as if not all the Statement and Connection objects are being closed properly before new ones are created (don't ask). It uses the sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver and I have heard it can be buggy if you don't properly close those things.

    Hi Hooi,
    I'd like to know whether you can build successfully in your local machine with MSBuild. You have to build succeed with MSBuild beore you can build with TFS Build since TFS build use MSBuild as its default compiler.
    From the error message, you might build with wrong platform for your project. Please check if the build platfrom is proper. If you have customization of your build process template, it would be better to elaborate the reproduce steps and customization details.

  • How to call a sp that returns multi_columns from another sp

    Hi,
    Can anybody help me to solve this problem? I called a sp which
    returns ename, sal using a weak ref cursor from another sp. Is
    it possible to do this? or I did something wrong? The error
    messages are:

    ORA-06512: at line 1
    below is my code:
    create or replace package testpkg AS           //12/19/01
    TYPE sumCur IS REF CURSOR;
    TYPE estType IS REF CURSOR;
         function totalNo (
              dno IN NUMBER)
              RETURN estType;
         procedure test(
              sum_cv IN OUT NOCOPY sumCur);
    END;
    CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE BODY testpkg AS
         function totalNo (

              RETURN estType IS est_cv estType;
              BEGIN

    from dept ';
              OPEN sum_cv FOR sql_statement ;
         END test;

    Thanks

    The error that you are getting is because totalNo(deptno) needs
    to be testpkg.totalNo(deptno), but that is not the only error.
    Maybe you can use something like this:

  • Calling a method that returns an object Array

    Hello.
    During a JNICALL , I wish to call a method which returns an object array.
    ie my java class has a method of the form
    public MyObject[] getSomeObjects(String aString){
    MyObject[] theObjects=new MyObject[10];
    return theObjects
    Is there an equivalent to (env)->CallObjectMethod(...
    which returns a jobjectArray instead of a jobject, and if not could somebody suggest a way around this.
    Thanks,
    Neil

    I believe an array oj jobjects is also a jobject. You can then cast it to another class.

  • TS2795 When I set CALL FWDING  "ON" and I set the phone number and I back to CALL FWDING, the option returns to "OFF" status, why this is happening ?

    Hello,
    Can someone help me to activate the Call Forwarding option on IPhone 5, OS 6.01 ??
    Currently I am trying:
    * Settings -> Phone -> Call Forwarding -> "ON" -> SET THE PHONE NUMBER ->"Call Forwarding button"
    But when the screen returns to Call forwarding, the option returns to "OFF" mode.
    * I already try to call to *72 to "activate" the call forwarding option, just didn't work.
    I don't know if I need to do an additional configuration, If someone has an idea, please let me know!!
    Regards
    Cami

    Who is your carrier? Not all carriers support enabling and disabling call forwarding using the controls in Settings.

  • Calling stored procedure and returning multiple resultsets

    Hello,
    Is it possible to create a procedure that return multiple result sets?
    e.g.
    procedure GetDataFromTables() is
    begin
    select * from table_one;
    select * from table_two;
    end GetDataFromTables;
    And I want to call this procedure that returns multiple resultsets (one for table_one and another for table_two)
    I have referred to the OCCI sample occiproc.cpp, but I am not sure how to handle multiple resultsets.
    Your help is highly appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Got the REF cursor in storedproc.cpp.
    But as it is documented, getCursor() gets the REF CURSOR value of an OUT parameter as a ResultSet.
    So, is it true that if I have to write a procedure that selects * from 50 tables (50 SQL statements) , I have to set 50 OUT parameters to get the result sets.?
    Is there any better way of doing this?
    e.g. in DB2, we can open multiple cursors in the procedure body and then get the result set one after another.
    CREATE PROCEDURE get_staging_data ()
    RESULT SETS 1 <no. of result sets>
    LANGUAGE SQL
    BEGIN ATOMIC
    DECLARE L_SQL varchar(5000);
    DECLARE c CURSOR WITH RETURN TO CLIENT FOR L_STMT;
    SET L_SQL = '';
    SET L_SQL = 'SELECT * FROM ';
    SET L_SQL = L_SQL || IN_Tab_Name ;
    SET L_SQL = L_SQL || ' WHERE VERIFY_FLAG=''S'' FOR READ ONLY OPTIMIZE FOR 2000 ROWS' ;
    PREPARE L_STMT FROM L_SQL;
    OPEN c; < can open multiple cursors in the prodedure body>
    END

  • Strange issue creating a BCP xml format file with double dagger '‡' (alt + 0135) as column terminator with bcp.exe

    Hi,
    I'm having issues generating a BCP XML format file using a fairly unusual column terminator, a double dagger symbol
    ‡ (alt + 0135) which I need to support.
    I'm experiencing this problem with bcp.exe for SQL2008 R2 and SQL2012.
    If I run the following command line:
    bcp MyDB.TMP.Test_Extract format nul -c -x -f "C:\BCP\format_file_dagger_test.xml" -T -S localhost\SQL2012 -t‡
    I end up with a XML format file like so:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <BCPFORMAT xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/sqlserver/2004/bulkload/format" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
     <RECORD>
      <FIELD ID="1" xsi:type="CharTerm" TERMINATOR="ç" MAX_LENGTH="255" COLLATION="SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS"/>
      <FIELD ID="2" xsi:type="CharTerm" TERMINATOR="ç" MAX_LENGTH="50"
    .. and so on.
    You will notice that the TERMINATOR="ç" (Minuscule c-cedilla) is output instead of TERMINATOR="‡". The
    ç character, is strangely enough is alt + 135 (and not alt + 0135) so this might more than a coincidence! I know you can specify the codepage but this switch applies the data being imported or extracted and not for the format file
    itself (I tried it anyway).
    In order to use the XML file to bulk import I manually did a text substitution of 'ç' character for '‡' and then BCP imports '‡' data fine.
    This character swap doesn't occur if I generate a non XML format file (the '‡' character is output in the format file correctly) however, this file produces other import errors, which I don't encounter if I use a standard delimiter like a comma. So I have stuck
    with the working XML format file which I prefer.
    Does anyone know why this is happening? I'm planning to automate the generation the of the XML format file and would like to avoid the additional step of text substitution if possible.
    Thank you.

    Hi Ham09,
    According to your description , we do a test and find that the character of the terminator is changed due to the code page of Operation System. When you choose the different time zone in Data and Time bar, and do the same bcp test, you will find it will
    export the different TERMINATOR in your XML format file. For example, you can import the character "ç" (alt + 135) in (UTC-12:00)International Date Line West time zone and (UTC+09:00)Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo time zone, and check if the terminators are different.
    By default, the field terminator is the tab character (represented as \t). To represent a paragraph mark, use \r\n.
    For more information, there is detail about code page(Windows), you can review the following article.

  • Calling a dll that returns a handle

    I am using the LV Call Library Function to call a reflective memory
    board interface dll on a Windows 2000 system. The first call is to OPEN
    with an argument of a pointer to a string containing the name of the
    device. This opens the driver and returns a handle that is used in the
    calls to all the other calls. Unfortunately, the return value in the
    Call Library Function can't be set to handle.
    If I set the return value to U32 (unsigned 32 bit int) it seems to work
    since it returns the same value each time and it returns 0 (the error
    value) if I give it the wrong device name. The problem is that when I
    try to cast the returned value as a handle, all the other calls return 0
    or error.
    The board came with a command line in
    terface program that allows me to
    exercise the board so I know that everything is working except my
    interface to the dll.
    Ed Bogart

    How are you "casting" this U32 value to dll handle?
    Which are the settings in configuration of dll call dialog like "calling conventions" and how the called dll function prototype looks like?
    Is your dll thread-safe?
    How you calling the second call library functio node? (may be sample diagram or picture)

  • Calling a procedure that returns a cursor inside a procedure

    Hi,
    I have two stored procedures. They both return a cursor as output variables. On the other hand I have another stored procedure that calls these procedures and return their results again an output variable. I know that this seems quite odd to be wanting to do something like this but how can I do that?

    You can make the hack generic. Make it execute any SQL as that schema that creates the ref cursor. E.g.
    // as schema BILLY, open a huge security hole and grant access to USER1
    SQL> create or replace procedure GetTableData( tableName varchar2, refCur out sys_refcursor ) authid definer is
      2          dynamicSQL      varchar2(32767);
      3  begin
      4          dynamicSQL := 'select * from '||tableName;
      5          open refCur for dynamicSQL;
      6  end;
      7  /
    Procedure created.
    SQL>
    SQL>
    SQL> grant execute on GetTableData to USER1;
    Grant succeeded.As USER1, you can now execute SQL (and even PL/SQL) as BILLY:
    SQL> create or replace type TStrings is table of varchar2(4000);
      2  /
    Type created.
    SQL> grant execute on TStrings to BILLY;
    Grant succeeded.
    SQL> --// execute this as the caller (which will be BILLY.GetTableData)
    SQL> create or replace procedure ExecSQL( hackSQL varchar2 ) authid current_user is
      2          pragma autonomous_transaction;
      3  begin
      4          execute immediate hackSQL;
      5          commit;
      6  end;
      7  /
    Procedure created.

  • Sqlplus exe.returns 3 during install of database instance in sap 4.7 ides

    Hello SAP Gurus:
    Can you guide to solve this issue with the installation of SAP Enterprise server 4.7 R/3 ides
    It went through smoothly till it came to Oracle Pre-Load Actions when it gave the following :
    CJS-00084 SQL statement or Script failed. Error Message : Executable is D:\oracle\ora92/bin/sqlplus exe.returns 3
    Thanks in advance for your kind replies.

    Peter thanks for the reply.
    But is there a solution for this problem like installing a patch for oracle. I have pathced the oracle with 9.2.0.2.1 but still receives the same error.
    Editing the script might cause improper installation of  R/3?
    OR will it work properly.
    Can i use SQL 2000 to do the installation instead of oracle please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • Firefox.exe returns 0xC000005 error and will not launch

    After a forced update of Avast browsers would not run. Firefox.exe returned an error message (0xC000005). However, firefox will run when launched in windows safe mode. Whats the problem?
    System specs
    Windows XP Pro, SP-3
    Thanks

    It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
