Calling an action from a different controller class with an input form

I have a Controller class declared as follows...
public class Controller extends PageFlowController
This class is not in a package. Inside this Controller class, I have a form class that is used as input for an Action method.
public static class OrderDetailsForm extends FormData
I also have another Controller class that exists in a subdirectory (and consequently has a package name)..
package createOrder;
class CreateOrderController extends PageFlowController
From an Action within this Controller class, I want to forward to an Action in the first Controller class. I need to get access to the OrderDetailsForm class to do this, but I don't know how to declare a variable of the OrderDetailsForm class. I tried to do this...
Controller.OrderDetailsForm myForm;
But the compiler doesn't accept this. My question is what is the class name that I should be specifying to create an instance of OrderDetailsForm that lives in the Controller class that doesn't live inside a package?

Do you know how to create an object of a class in some other class? The code you wrote seems you dont have basic sense of what is a object and class. Where did you create the object of your People class in your animal class? Create the object of people class within the animal class like:
public class Animals {
    People people;
    public Televoting() {
    public void showAnimals() {
        people = new People(); // This is called the object creation by calling the constructor of the People
                                          // class. Now you can access all the methods and variables of your people
                                          // class through the people object.
        System.out.println(people.peoples[0] + " is not an animal, but a person.") // Notice the difference.
}I am sorry to say that you are not a good student and learner.

    First you have to create create dblink in A1 database as below
    CREATE DATABASE LINK INSA1
       CONNECT TO USER_NAME IDENTIFIED BY <pass>
       USING 'B!' Then you can execute exec pack_b@INSA1;

  • Possibility of calling standard actions from a java program

    Hi ,
    I am working for a project where customer wants to have option of saving orders as draft only and later convert to order if need be. However since we do not want many drafts to reside on server there is a need to delete these at a specified time. For draft orders I am using order templates since they stay in the database without getting converted to orders. Now I do not know how to go about the deletion part.
    i need to write a program that would run on the server and which would fetch the templates (drafts) that have been created till a particular time and call the delete action of the template. Now the question is how do i call these actions from a java program where this java program will have to run on the server end (ie will be a backend process).
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Roopali

    hello roopali,
    you can create a separate thread that will run your
    code that will check for stale drafts and delete them.
    it is just like a session management program but here
    we will be looking over the drafts and not the session
    objects.
    now if you want the invocation of the action from another
    program, a socket program would suffice but opening ports
    will cause you network connections thru firewall.
    if you can make use of HTTP servlet as your service
    provider e.g., you can then just pass some action params
    to invoke it.

  • Calling an action method in a controller from an iframe

    I am not able to call an action command in the page flow controller from an iframe.
    Currently, it just skips it. Is there a way to do it or it is a bug. I am using

    Thanks, SB.

    I think JButton.doClick() will do what you want

  • Calling a method from a different class?

    Ok..
    I been trying for hours... but im stumped.
    How can I get this to work?
    (Note: I cut this code down from over 600+ lines of code.. I left in a REALLY raw framework that shows where the basic problem is.)
    public class Client extends JPanel implements Runnable {
    // variable declarations...
        Socket connection;
        BufferedReader fromServer;
        PrintWriter toServer;
        public Client(){
    // GUI creation...
    // Create the login JFrame
        Login login = new Login()
        public void connect(){
        try {
                //Attempt to connect to the server
                connection = new Socket(ip,port);
                fromServer = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(connection.getInputStream()));
                toServer = new PrintWriter(connection.getOutputStream());
                //Launch a thread here to read incoming messages from the server
                //so I dont block on reading
                new Thread (this).start();
        } catch (Exception e) {
            e.printStackTrace();
        public void run(){
            // This keeps reading lines from the server
            String s;
            try {
                //Read messages sent from the server - add them to chat window
                while ((s=fromServer.readLine()) != null) {
                txtChat.append(s);
            } catch (Exception e) {}
        public static void main(String args[]){
            // some init frame stuff
            frame = new JFrame();
            frame.getContentPane().add(new Client(),BorderLayout.CENTER);
         frame.setVisible(true);
    class Login extends JFrame {
        JPanel pane;
        public Login() {
         super("Login");
         pane = new JPanel();
         JButton cmdConnect = new JButton("Connect");
            pane.add(cmdConnect);
         setContentPane(pane);
         setSize(300,300);
         setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
         cmdConnect.addActionListener(new ActionListener(){
             public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae){
              // I want to connect to the server when this button is pressed.
              // How can I call the connect method in the Client class?
    }

    Your posted code shows Login as an inner class. So one way to solve your problem is.
    1. Make an instance variable to hold the instance. For example, after "PrintWriter toServer;" add "private Client client;"
    2. In the Client constructor, add a line "client = this;"
    3. In the Login actionPerformed(), use "client.connect();"
    Another way is to have Login keep a reference to the Client that created it.
    1. Add an instance variable to Login "private Client client;"
    2. Change the Login constructor "public Login(Client c) {"
    3. Add a line in the constructor "client = c;"
    4. In the actionPerformed() "client.connect();"

  • Call struts action from javascript?

    Hi all
    I'm having problem already discussed here quite a lot, but I have idea to solve it different way. And need to know is it possible or I'm doing mission impossible here :(
    I have JSP with 2 drop down lilsts, where the second is populated according to selected value from first - that's basically my problem.
    Is it possible to somehow only call my struts action which will return all needed values using javascript and onchange event handler?
    I dont have any experience with javascript, and I'm trying to avoid it as much as possible at the moment.
    Thanks in advance

    well as far your requirement is concern if at all you are planning to implement AJAX try to use the below link which might be of some help...
    http://www.it-eye.nl/weblog/2005/12/13/ajax-in-struts-implementing-dependend-select-boxes/
    However,I somehow feel there are few loopholes in the author's approach...
    i advice to use XmlHttpRequest.reponseXML property there.
    However, i've mentioned a sample code snippet for you reference.
    XML Response Pattern :

  • How to access servlet objects from OA page controller class

    Hi everybody!
    I need to put some value into servlet attribute in OA page controller class to read it from ordinary servlet later.
    How can i do it? Is it possible to get HttpServletRequest and HttpServletResponse objects from page controller?
    Thank you.

    I have a servlet which receives uploaded files with special attributes (something like tags for file) using POST request.
    This attributes created when user open page in standard OAF page via page controller.
    On client side I have an applet which uploads user selected file to my servlet and passes this file attributes.
    Now this attributes passes as plain text. I want to encrypt this attributes to hide attribute details from user. To do this I need to share some information between OAF page and my servlet.
    I know that OAF supports URL encryption, but to decrypt it I should use standard pageContext object.
    But in ordinary servlet I can't use it.

  • Detailed page to be called and displayed from 3 different tabs

    Hi,
    That's my problem. I have a detailed form called from 3 different pages. When calling the detailed form the 3 tabs are highlighted.
    Is there any way to tell Apex which tab is to be highlighted on each time.
    Many thanks

    Hi,
    Why don't you simply NOT list the Detail page on any of the tab properties? i.e. when the detail page is being shown, none of the tabs will appear lit up. Would that work?
    Wouldn't this look akward?
    Or you could create the form region on Page 0 and conditionally display the region as appropriate so you don't have to duplicate it on multiple pages.
    The detail form contains two updatable regions. I don't think this is a good idea.
    Any ideas what people normally do in scenarios like mine?
    I don't mind replicating the page if "that's a good practice" but I would appreciate other suggestions.
    Many thanks again.

  • In Captivate 7, how can I call another action from within an action?

    I have a conditional action called FakeSuccessRewind. Now I need to call another function called ShowGrayBalloons02 from within its Else statement, but I couldn't find something like "Execute Advanced Action." Can anybody share some tips here? Thanks!
    Below are screenshots of my two actions:
    1) FakeSuccessRewind (if/else). Here I need to call the 2nd action from the Else statement, underneath the statement Go to the next slide.
    2) ShowGrayBalloons02. Note this function has five seperate runs when the variable is decrementing from 5-1.
    Thanks a lot!
    Melissa

    You can't, you need to add the other action into the first one.

  • Call Photoshop Action from other APP?

    Hi Everyone,
    Anybody has any experience to run any Photoshop action using a binary .EXE file?
    For example, I want to let Photoshop execute a filter action from my own application?
    I know that DROPLET can do this, what I did is that I use System("Droplet.exe somefile") to launch the Photoshop action. However, I got enough trouble doing this with the UAC of Windows7, there're intermittently "Droplet couldn't communicate with Photoshop" error showing up, and UAC always prompt you the warning message. I tried lots of ways "Run as Administrators" etc, but the error shows again even though the previous time it worked!
    Finally, I think it's time to give up droplet and thinking of other way of doing this.
    I just simply want a ".exe" or something that can let my application tell Photoshop to run a simple action (with no parameters). I'm not sure whether PostMessage/SendMessage can do this or not on Windows. If anybody has any idea, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!
    By the way, I also learned that Photoshop API is not thread safe, so that an "inception thread" of a plugin in the Photoshop causes unpridictable crashes, and you cannot do that in a separate thread.

    Check out the vbs samples (Visual Basic) from here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/photoshop/scripting.html
    Then use "cscript" from the command line.

  • Call two smartforms from two different print programs

    Hi Sapiens,
      I have a requirement that there are two different smartforms and they have there independent print programs.
      Just wanted to know weather is it possible in SAP to merge those to smartforms and there print programs so that first smartform is displayed first and second smartform is printed at its back(duplex printing).
    Regards
    Milind

    Hi,
    You can use submit program in the first program to call the second program and
    fetch the required interface data related to the second smartform and once u have the interface data
    for both the programs then u can merge the both smartforms data and display them as one layout instead of displaying the two layouts in different formats.
    For merging of data of both the smartforms u can do :Convert the output of first smartform into OTF format data then convert the data of second smartform into OTF table and append it to the first table .
    Now u have the data of both the smartforms in one table then convert this OTF data into PDF format and create a spool request with the combined forms data.
    Thanks,
    M.Naveen Kumar.

  • How to create Analysis from two different subject areas with diff models

    Hello,
    I have problem with create analysis from two different areas with two different models (Model Star and Snowflakes) build in BI Admin tools.
    First Model A = Subject Area A have one fact tables (with measures) and three dimensions tables (Model Star)
    Second Model B = Subject Area B have one fact table (no measures) and five dimensions tables (Model Snowflakes).
    I'm looking solutions how I can give good results. In this case I can't use UNION, INTERSECT etc., because this models haven't the same number column and data type?
    whether it is possible to do in OBIEE?
    Please help me
    Kind regard
    robix

    Hi
    One thing to understand is that if your are imagining having two Subject Areas (SAs) displayed and then dragging columns from each into your Request without any preparation, then no, that can't be done. You would need to do a join in the BMM layer and expose the column from the second Subject Area in the presentation layer.
    But if you indeed interested in UNION (or intersect) queries, then do this:
    Build your first query in the first SA in the usual manner. Note the number of columns and the data types of each column.
    Now at the bottom of the Criteria workspace, there is a button called "Combine with similar request." Click it.
    Select your second SA. You will note that the outlines of the columns in your first query appear. This is to remind you that the number of columns in this second query must be the same as in the first. It also shows the data type of each column for the same reason.
    Once you select your columns and your filters, click on result. (Oh, you will also need to decide what kind of combination you want -- click on the dropdown.) The result will be a new Request that has data from both SAs in the query and combined in the manner you select (union, intersect, etc.)
    That should give you a start.

  • Unable to access web setup from 4 different Win7 machines with IE9 / FireFox

    I Hope someone can help, I suspect this may have something to do with a recent update to Windows or IE since this worked at least a couple of months ago.
    I'm unable to access the  web setup screen from 4 different windows machines running IE 9 or Firefox (various combinations of wireless, wired, etc.). When I get to the certificate error and hit the "yes, i understand, continue", it comes back with a 'can't be reached' page and looking into the details says the 'connection was dropped'.  However If I connect from a MacBook / safari, I'm able to reach the page fine (and admin the router).
    Summary:
    Using a wrt610n
    I am connected to the router, the ip address hasn't changed, the password hasn't changed
    I can use the router & connect to the internet
    I have the router set to require HTTPS, but switching it to allow HTTP doesn't help.
    Both Wired & Wireless Win 7 / IE9 machines can't connect.
    Tried setting the router ip address to 'trusted' zone in IE
    Tried setting the router ip address to the 'compatibility' mode in IE
    Tried using latest version of Firefox with the same results.
    Thanks in Advance!
    Stephen

    Before I suggest you any troubleshooting steps, I would like to ask few question. Like did you try opening the “https://192.168.1.1” in Internet Explorer 8. If not, then try to open the Router Management page in the same manner in Internet Explorer 8 and check whether it opens or not. As it should show up.

  • 2 different submit buttons on an input form

    Is there a way that on my input form, I can have two submit buttons?
    Of course they will be labeled differently. The catch is, the difference between the two buttons is not conditional.
    Here's my form flow;
    Person X has a meeting with a supervisor. But in some cases, there can be more then one supervisor.
    So, the user fills in the supervisor's info and can either click Continue, which takes the user to a thank you page; OR the user clicks a button that's labeled 'Add Supervisor'.
    Is this possible? Would I use a custom trigger?
    Thanks!
    Peter T

    Hi Peter,
    I don´t think this is possible, because you can only define one button (e.g. ADDT´s KT_Insert1) for triggering the respective transaction, and any possible attached Custom Transaction is a "slave" of this main transaction.
    But in some cases, there can be more then one supervisor
    would it make sense to have the user select one or more supervisors from an array of Comma Separated Checkboxes ?

  • Problems calling a method from a different class

    Like many programmers, I'm having a go at making my own chat room. All has been going well so far, however I am having trouble calling the method which connects the client to the server, from the method which actually starts the server.
    The method for starting the server:
    public static void serverStart () throws IOException {
            new Thread () {
            public void run() {
                try {
                    ServerSocket serverSock = new ServerSocket (client.serverPort);
                while (true) {
                    Socket serverClient = serverSock.accept ();
                    ChatHandler handler = new ChatHandler(serverClient);
                    handler.start ();
                } catch (IOException ex) {
                    connectTo.handleIOException(ex);
            }.start();
            try {
                connectTo.start();
            } catch (IOException ex) {
                connectTo.handleIOException(ex);
        }The part of interest is the "connectTo.start()" line, as this is the one which calls a method in the class connectToMethod which tells the client to connect to this newly started server. Now for the client connection code:
    public synchronized void start () throws IOException {
          if (listener == null) {
              Socket socket = new Socket (client.serverAddr, client.serverPort);
              try {
                  dataIn = new DataInputStream
                          (new BufferedInputStream (socket.getInputStream ()));
                  dataOut = new DataOutputStream
                          (new BufferedOutputStream (socket.getOutputStream ()));
              } catch (IOException ex) {
              socket.close ();
              throw ex;
          listener = new Thread (this);
          listener.start ();
      }Now when the server starts, it should automatically start the connection method "start()" and connect to itself. However I am getting a NullPointerException error at the line "connectTo.start();" from the server code. The server and connection client actually work separately, just not when I try to connect from the server itself. I have tried a few ways of getting around this problem, all without success. If anyone could give some input on what might be wrong, or a possible way to fix it, I'd be very grateful.

    Sorry, connectTo comes from:
    connectToMethod connectTo = new
    connectToMethod();
    That doesn't necessarily mean this variable reference is the same one as in the code where the NullPointerException was thrown though.
    Or the exception was thrown inside the start() method. The runtime isn't lying to you. You have a null reference (pointer) where it says you do.
