Calling ejb remote method

SQLPLUS How to call ejb remote method in the sql plus.i am getting problem to intiallize the initial context.

hi chidambaresh,
you could have sent this to me directly.
the Enumeration si an interface and so the object we get during the runtime is basically an object of some implementation of this interface.
the Enumeration you get from HAshtable is actually Serializable.
but the Enumeration you actually get from Vector (this is actaully an inner class of Vector viz., Vector$1) is not serializable. that is what the error you are getting.

    Hi,
    It seems that the Followinf line of code is causing the issue:
    String jndi = "ejb/engine#"
    <font color=red>final String jndiName =jndi+beanClass.getCanonicalName();</font><BR>
    final T bean = (T)jndiLookup(jndiName);
    Is it possible for you to Not to use the ".getCanonicalName()" method. Rather u can use a Simple Custom JNDI Name for your EJBs. Like: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2009/08/21/custom-jndi-ejb3/
    Sometimes we get the following errors if we dont generate the EJB Client artifacts to be used at client end. Please try generating EJB Client JAR...as well: http://weblogic-wonders.com/weblogic/2010/04/02/generating-ejb3-clientjar/

    Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.

  • Got javax.transaction.HeuristicMixedException  when calling EJB business methods

              I have developed two EJBs. One is a stateless session bean,
              called InventorySessionBean(JNDI name: Inventory); the other one
              is a CMP Entity Bean called InventoryBean(JNDI name:
              InventoryBean). The InventoryBean represents the business object
              of Inventory. InventoryBean is declared CMT and all methods in
              the beans have attribute "Required". The InventorySessionBean is a session facade
              which encapsulate the business methods of
              InventoryBean. InventorySessionBean is declared CMT and all
              methods in the bean have attribute"RequiresNew" The backend
              database is Ingres.
              I have setup JDBC connection pool, Datasource and Tx Datasource.
              There is a client program which invokes InventorySessionBean to get business data
              from database.
              Actually the InventorySessionBean invokes InventoryBean entity bean to get data
              from database.
              After I starting up the weblogic server, I ran the client program to get data,

  • Calling a remote method from a link

    I've been programming in Java for a few years, but I'm quite new at using JSP. I have a Java class that has methods to do some manipulations in a remote database. I'd like to invoke one of its public methods from a JSP page when I click on the correct link.
    The "link" would act the same way as a button, the only thing that it would do is calling the method from my class when clicked on. Example: There's a link that says "Generate XML file" and when I click on it, the method generateXML() from the Java class is called. No need to display anything, just do the treatment. Maybe make a refresh of the page afterwards, but that's it. I do not know how to pull this off, help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Julien

    call your java class function in a jsp and link it.
    For ex:
    generatexml.jsp ---> call your function in this jsp
    And make the link like this
    GenerateXML
    You can make it as a pop up and close the popup window once the process is over

  • Problem in Calling EJB remotely in Oracle9iAS

    Hi All,
    Im getting a strange problem while Im trying to access an EJB deployed in one orion application server from a web client, deployed in another orion application server.
    The orion server version Im using is Oracle9iAS (1.0.2.2.1) running on Windows XP (for both the deployment).
    To explain the settings more -
    a) Ive a J2EE application running on orion server (say A) in which a client web application (say TestClient.war) is deployed.
    Ive another J2EE application running on another orion server (say B) in which an EJB (say TestEJB) is deployed in a test application (say TestApp). TestApp.ear contains TestEJB.jar as one of the modules.
    b) From TestClient.war Im trying to connect to TestEJB of TestApp.
    c) Based on the documentation Ive read Ive done the following settings/configurations.
    In the rmi.xml of orion server A Ive incorporated lines
    <server host="mchnB" username="SCOTT" port="23791" password="TIGER"/>
    <log>
    <file path="../log/rmi.log" />
    </log>
    (machineB is the network name of the machine where server B is running)
    d) In the rmi.xml of orion server B Ive incorporated lines
    <log>
    <file path="../log/rmi.log" />
    </log>
    e) In the code of TestClient while creating InitialContext for server B Im using following name value parameters and putting them in a hash table (say envHtb).
    java.naming.factory.initial=com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory
    java.naming.provider.url=ormi://machineB/TestApp
    java.naming.security.principal=SCOTT
    java.naming.security.credentials=TIGER
    java.naming.security.authentication=none
    f) In principals.xml in server A Ive code like -
    <groups>
    <group name="administrators">
    <description>administrators</description>
    <permission name="administration" />
    <permission name="com.evermind.server.AdministrationPermission" />
    </group>
    </groups>
    <users>
    <user username="SCOTT" password="TIGER">
    <description>no description</description>
    <group-membership group="administrators" />
    </user>
    </users>
    However, while executing the code
    Context ctx = new InitialContext (envHtb)
    following error is obtained
    java.lang.NullPointerException at com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory.getInitialContext(RMIInitialContextFactory.java:174) at com.evermind.server.ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory.getInitialContext(ApplicationClientInitialContextFactory.java:156) at javax.naming.spi.NamingManager.getInitialContext(Unknown Source) at javax.naming.InitialContext.getDefaultInitCtx(Unknown Source) at javax.naming.InitialContext.init(Unknown Source) at javax.naming.InitialContext.(Unknown Source).
    Could you please let me know what could be the possible reason for this error ?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Sourav

    Hi Sourav,
    You said...
    "c) Based on the documentation I?ve read I?ve done the following
    settings/configurations."
    I don't know what documentation you are referring to, but you
    are using a very old version of OC4J. Therefore, I believe that
    the following posting may be relevant to you:
    Re: Converting a Group Left to a Group Above Report
    Hope it helps you.
    Good Luck,

  • Websphere ejb remote call

    I can't call ejb remotely with java applicatoin (javax.naming.NameNotFoundException).
    I tried with the servlet and works fine.
    How can i setup the environment so that it works with java client remotely.
    //call ejb from ejb
    Context initial = new InitialContext();
    sample.HelloWorldHome home = ( sample.HelloWorldHome )PortableRemoteObject.narrow( initial.lookup("ejb/sample/HelloWorldHome"), sample.HelloWorldHome.class);
    sample.HelloWorld h = home.create();
    //from remote client
    Context initial = new InitialContext();
    sample.HelloWorldHome home = ( sample.HelloWorldHome )PortableRemoteObject.narrow( initial.lookup("IIOP://localhost:2809#ejb/sample/HelloWorldHome"), sample.HelloWorldHome.class);
    sample.HelloWorld h = home.create();

    I made it working.
    The problem was running two web logic server on a machine and there was some kind of conflict.

  • Unable to call exported client methods of EJB session bean remote interface

    I am unable to call client methods of a BC4J application module deployed as a Session EJB to Oracle 8i at the client side of my multi-tier application. There is no documentation, and I am unable to understand how I should do it.
    A business components project has been created. For instance, its application module is called BestdataModule. A few custom methods have been added to BestdataModuleImpl.java file, for instance:
    public void doNothingNoArgs() {
    public void doNothingOneArg(String astr) {
    public void setCertificate(String userName, String userPassword) {
    theCertificate = new Certificate(userName, userPassword);
    public String getPermission() {
    if (theCertificate != null)
    {if (theCertificate.getPermission())
    {return("Yes");
    else return("No, expired");
    else return("No, absent");
    theCertificate being a protected class variable and Certificate being a class, etc.
    The application module has been tested in the local mode, made remotable to be deployed as EJB session bean, methods to appear at the client side have been selected. The application module has been successfully deployed to Oracle 8.1.7 and tested in the remote mode. A custom library containing BestdataModuleEJBClient.jar and BestDataCommonEJB.jar has been created.
    Then I try to create a client basing on Example Oracle8i/EJB Client snippet:
    package bestclients;
    import java.lang.*;
    import java.sql.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import javax.naming.*;
    import oracle.aurora.jndi.sess_iiop.*;
    import oracle.jbo.*;
    import oracle.jbo.client.remote.ejb.*;
    import oracle.jbo.common.remote.*;
    import oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.*;
    import oracle.jdeveloper.html.*;
    import bestdata.client.ejb.*;
    import bestdata.common.ejb.*;
    import bestdata.common.*;
    import bestdata.client.ejb.BestdataModuleEJBClient;
    public class BestClients extends Object {
    static Hashtable env = new Hashtable(10);
    public static void main(String[] args) {
    String ejbUrl = "sess_iiop://localhost:2481:ORCL/test/TESTER/ejb/bestdata.BestdataModule";
    String username = "TESTER";
    String password = "TESTER";
    Hashtable environment = new Hashtable();
    environment.put(javax.naming.Context.URL_PKG_PREFIXES, "oracle.aurora.jndi");
    environment.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, username);
    environment.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, password);
    environment.put(Context.SECURITY_AUTHENTICATION, ServiceCtx.NON_SSL_LOGIN);
    BestdataModuleHome homeInterface = null;
    try {
    Context ic = new InitialContext(environment);
    homeInterface = (BestdataModuleHome)ic.lookup(ejbUrl);
    catch (ActivationException e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
    catch (CommunicationException e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
    catch (NamingException e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.exit(1);
    try {
    System.out.println("Creating a new EJB instance");
    RemoteBestdataModule remoteInterface = homeInterface.create();
    // Method calls go here!
    // e.g.
    // System.out.println(remoteInterface.foo());
    catch (Exception e) {
    System.out.println(e.getMessage());
    e.printStackTrace();
    It doesnt cause any errors. However, how must I call methods? The public interface RemoteBestdataModule has no such methods:
    void doNothingNoArgs();
    void doNothingOneArg(java.lang.String astr);
    void setCertificate(java.lang.String userName, java.lang.String userPassword);
    java.lang.String getPermission();
    Instead of that it has the following methods:
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn doNothingNoArgs(byte[] _pb) throws oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException, java.rmi.RemoteException;
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn doNothingOneArg(byte[] _pb, java.lang.String astr) throws oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException, java.rmi.RemoteException;
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn customQueryExec(byte[] _pb, java.lang.String aQuery) throws oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException, java.rmi.RemoteException;
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn setCertificate(byte[] _pb, java.lang.String userName, java.lang.String userPassword) throws oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException, java.rmi.RemoteException;
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn getPermission(byte[] _pb) throws oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException, java.rmi.RemoteException;
    I cannot call those methods. I can see how they are called in BestdataModuleEJBClient.java file:
    public void doNothingNoArgs() throws oracle.jbo.JboException {
    try {
    oracle.jbo.common.remote.PiggybackReturn _pbRet = mRemoteAM.doNothingNoArgs(getPiggyback());
    processPiggyback(_pbRet.mPiggyback);
    if (_pbRet.isReturnStreamValid()) {
    return;
    catch (oracle.jbo.common.remote.ejb.RemoteJboException ex) {
    processRemoteJboException(ex);
    catch (java.rmi.RemoteException ex) {
    processRemoteJboException(ex);
    throw new oracle.jbo.JboException("Marshall error");
    However, I cannot call getPiggyback() function! It is a protected method, it is available to the class BestdataModuleEJBClient which extends EJBApplicationModuleImpl, but it is unavailable to my class BestClients which extends Object and is intended to extend oracle.jdeveloper.html.WebBeanImpl!
    It seems to me that I mustnt use RemoteBestdataModule interface directly. Instead of that I must use the public class BestdataModuleEJBClient that extends EJBApplicationModuleImpl and implements BestdataModule interface. It contains all methods required without additional arguments (see just above). However, how must I create an object of BestdataModuleEJBClient class? That is a puzzle. Besides my custom methods the class has only two methods:
    protected bestdata.common.ejb.RemoteBestdataModule mRemoteAM;
    /*This is the default constructor (do not remove)*/
    public BestdataModuleEJBClient(RemoteApplicationModule remoteAM) {
    super(remoteAM);
    mRemoteAM = (bestdata.common.ejb.RemoteBestdataModule)remoteAM;
    public bestdata.common.ejb.RemoteBestdataModule getRemoteBestdataModule() {
    return mRemoteAM;
    It looks like the remote application module must already exist! In despair I tried to put down something of the kind at the client side:
    RemoteBestdataModule remoteInterface = homeInterface.create();
    BestdataModuleEJBClient dm = new BestdataModuleEJBClient(remoteInterface);
    dm.doNothingNoArgs();
    Of course, it results in an error.
    System Output: null

    I have studied a lot of documents in vain. I have found only various senseless discourses:
    "Use the Application Module Wizard to make the Application Module remotable and export the method. This will generate an interface for HrAppmodule (HrAppmodule.java in the Common package) which contains the signature for the exported method promoteAllEmps(). Then, deploy the Application Module. Once the Application Module has been deployed, you can use the promoteAllEmps() method in your client-side programs. Calls to the promoteAllEmps() method in client-side programs will result in calls to the promote() method in the application tier."
    However, I have failed to find a single line of code explaining how it should be called.
    Can anybody help me?

    Dear Steven,
    1. Thank you very much. It seems to me that the problem is solved.
    2. "I logged into Metalink but it wants me to put in both a tar number and a country name to see your issue." It was the United Kingdom, neither the US nor Russia if you mean my issue.

  • Marshall exception when calling a remote business method in EJB

    Hi,
    From a java client, i am calling a business method from a ejb. the home and remote interface object is sucessfully received at the client. but at the time of calling the remote business method the following error occurs.
    java.rmi.RemoteException: ; nested exception is:
    weblogic.rmi.ServerException: A remote exception occurred while executing the method on the
    remote object
    - with nested exception:
    [weblogic.rmi.MarshalException: error marshalling return
    - with nested exception:
    [java.io.NotSerializableException: java.util.Vector$1]]
    java.io.NotSerializableException: java.util.Vector$1
    the business method returns an enumeration object.
    How to solve this?
    -chidam

    hi chidambaresh,
    you could have sent this to me directly.
    the Enumeration si an interface and so the object we get during the runtime is basically an object of some implementation of this interface.
    the Enumeration you get from HAshtable is actually Serializable.
    but the Enumeration you actually get from Vector (this is actaully an inner class of Vector viz., Vector$1) is not serializable. that is what the error you are getting.

  • Exception data: java.lang.AbstractMethodError - Calling Remote Method.

    We recently changed some of our CMP fields from primative int's to integer's and now we are receiving Abstract Method Errors at runtime. We have fixed all the methods that use this CMP fields, well at least we think we got them all. Since this are remote methods the sever is setup to pull JAR files from a lib directory on the server. This JAR files have also been updated. Can anyone give me more information about this error or something I might be missing.

    Any help is appreciated
    Chris

    I am pretty sure. I am using RAD locally so I have deleted all the generated AccessBean and Deployment code and rerun the deploy. My concern is that these remote methods are using an external JAR file which is loaded when the server is started. I have updated this JAR files, but I am not sure if maybe they are being cached some where.

  • How to call the secured EJB from timer ejb timedout method.

    Hi All,
    I have a couple of questions on EJB 3.1 Timer Service.
    1. How to call the secured EJB (annotated @RolesAllowed) from Timer EJB @Timeout Method?
    2. What's the default role/principal with which the Timer @Timeout Method gets called?
    Please let me know any info regarding the same.
    Thanks,
    Suresh

    I'd start here:
    http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html
    If that doesn't help, go to the table of contents and start poking around. You don't need to read the whole thing front to back, but if you're not willing to spend some time researching and reading, you're not going to get very far.

  • Can a client call the ejb callback methods directly????

    Is there any way using which client can call the ejb callback methods directly.
    ie in the client program i want to call ejbPassivate/ejbActivate?? is there any way of doing the same

    short answer: yes, pass a reference of the ejb (bean class) to the client. This will not do what you expect however and hopefully with generate an error that you should read as "don't do this".
    better answer: you are no longer doing ejb development if you do this. those methods exists for the container to interact with your bean and are NOT meant for clients. You should NEVER do what I suggest in my "short answer".
