NullPointerException while calling a Remote Method
I have got the following exception whle calling a remote method,
do you have any idea?
java.lang.NullPointerException
at sun.rmi.transport.StreamRemoteCall.exceptionReceivedFromServer(StreamRemoteCall.java:245)
at sun.rmi.transport.StreamRemoteCall.executeCall(StreamRemoteCall.java:220)
at sun.rmi.server.UnicastRef.invoke(UnicastRef.java:122)
at distributedchess.server.ChessGameImpl_Stub.applyAction(ChessGameImpl_Stub.java:53)
Looks to me like your server has a bug in a remote method.

SQLPLUS How to call ejb remote method in the sql plus.i am getting problem to intiallize the initial context.
hi chidambaresh,
you could have sent this to me directly.
the Enumeration si an interface and so the object we get during the runtime is basically an object of some implementation of this interface.
the Enumeration you get from HAshtable is actually Serializable.
but the Enumeration you actually get from Vector (this is actaully an inner class of Vector viz., Vector$1) is not serializable. that is what the error you are getting.

Hi
I am getting below error while calling a stateless EJB method. There is some validation checks while performing ejb's modify() method and a RuntimeException is thrown in case of validation failure.The modify() method internally calls other stateless ejb as well.
The problem I'm facing is, instead of getting the expected RuntimeException in the Servlet, i am getting RemoteException. I am using WLS 9 MP1, all participating ejbs are stateless and i am using default transaction attributes(Supports) for these ejbs.
The interesting part is, at the ejb layer RuntimeException is thrown as expected, but this exception changed to RemoteException at the servlet's end where i am catching the ejb call exceptions.
I am new to WLS, please suggest/help me out of this exception.
Any help is truly appreciated.

Edited by: user10721298 on Feb 23, 2009 4:16 AMHi,
If i don't misunderstand, you are using the RuntimeException as an application exception, right?
Have you annotated it or denoted it in deployment descriptor?
Thanks,

what is the reason for this one....?
In my case, whenever the user has clicked the Identify button then the native method Identify should be called. That time it's working fine.
But once the user has clicked the Enroll button, then first the Identify native method should be called, based upon the result, the enroll() native method will be called. I am getting the error whenever i am clicking the Enroll button.
while clicking the Identify button i didn't get any such error....
What would be the reason?
someone pls clear my doubt.

Getting error while calling ejb business methods from servlet
Hi
Iam getting error when i try to call a ejb method from servlet.Error is
"com.netscape.server.eb.UncheckedException: unchecked exception nested exception is:java.lang.NullPointerException".
I build the application and deployed it successfully.Iam using IAS 6.O with windows NT 4.0.
This is just a method which takes values from database and return as an array of bean to servlet.
Any help on this.Thanks ShankHi
I was using the session bean.Your suggestion helped me a lot.Perfect.
I debug my program and found that from ejbCreate()exception is getting.
I was getting the datasource object thro ejb create() initialisation.
Somehow the look up jndi which i mentioned was not interpretting from ejb-jar.xml ias-ejb-jar.xml and datasource ref .Due to this iam getting jndi Namenotfound exception which in turns to null pointer as datasource is getting null.
when i hardcoded in the ejb the the jndi name for datasource it is working fine.Bit worried all the existing ejbs working with the xml referenced datasource and jndi,but when i added a new ejb with same properties it is failing to get the jndi name.
Piece of code from ias-ejb-jar.xml

<res-ref-name>myDataSource</res-ref-name>
<jndi-name>jdbc/nb/myData</jndi-name>

NullPointerException while calling a webservice
Hello,
I want to use a this webservice:
http://www.webservicex.net/WCF/ServiceDetails.aspx?SID=37
I have implement it, but I can not use it.
Here my Code from the ComponentController:
AtomicModel model = new AtomicModel();
Request_GetAtomicNumber req = new Request_GetAtomicNumber(model);
GetAtomicNumber number = new GetAtomicNumber(model);
number.setElementName("");
req.setGetAtomicNumber(number);
wdContext.nodeRequest_GetAtomicNumber().bind(req);
I become an Nullpointer-Exception at runtime, if i want to set "ElementName". But you can see, that the class GetAtomicNumber is already defined.
In other projects I had done the same with other webservices and it works...
Where is my mistake???
Thanks,
PeterLooks to me like your server has a bug in a remote method.

UnsatisfiedLinkError while calling a JNI Method
Hi everyone,
I have been struggling with this problem for two weeks now. I have a third party SDK that provides JNI library and all i need to do is implement the SDK, load the JNI library they have provided, and call the JNI methods. I was successfully able to load the JNI library and call the JNI methods when i don't put the classes in the package. But when i put the classes in a package then the library gets loaded successfully but an unsatisfiedLinkError occurs when calling the JNI methods. Please help!!! Please remember that the JNI library is provided by the third party vendor and I don't need to write the C/C++ code or call javah to create a .h file and then a c/c++ file.
This is the error i get:

Thank you in advance.which ever class which contains the "InitDFTTSEngineEx3" method. should not be altered, even its package should not be altered.[same for other class which has the native method declared in them]
because in native code jni method signatures will be based on the java class's fully qualified name.
so when you change the package the FQN will change and no matching method for this

Hello,
I am intermittently getting a nullpointer exception while parsing a

Oracle 817. Java 1.3.1 The code is very simple (although the
setTypeMap(getTypeMap) stuff is there for ugly historical reasons, it

My only current theory is that it is related to the nextval being

Berkeley DB JE is getting hanged while calling environment sync method.
Hi,
I am developing an application in Java and I am using JE edition of Berkeley. I am facing an issue, during shutdown operation I am calling syn method of EntityStore class and Environment class.
The EntityStore.sync() is getting completed but during executing of Environment.sync() the control is not coming out of this statement. Below is the code that I am using to perform sync operation.
if (myEnv != null) {
try {
entityStore.sync(); //Calling sync method of Entity Store Class.
log.error("Finished Syncing of Entity Store");
myEnv.sync(); // Calling Sync method of Environment Class. Control is not coming out of this sync call.
log.error("Finished Syncing of Environment");
} catch (DatabaseException dbe) {
log.error("DataBase exception duing close operation ",dbe);
} catch (IllegalStateException ie) {
logger.fatal("Cursor not closed: ", ie);
During my unit testing I was changing system date and perfoming some db operation. While I during down the application the the above code gets executed but the system is getting hanged and control is not coming out of Environment sync method call. Can some one tell why the sync is causing the system to hang.
Thanks in advance.Hello,
You did not mention the version of BDB JE. In any case for BDB JE questions the correct forum is at:
Berkeley DB Java Edition

Calling a remote method from a link
I've been programming in Java for a few years, but I'm quite new at using JSP. I have a Java class that has methods to do some manipulations in a remote database. I'd like to invoke one of its public methods from a JSP page when I click on the correct link.
The "link" would act the same way as a button, the only thing that it would do is calling the method from my class when clicked on. Example: There's a link that says "Generate XML file" and when I click on it, the method generateXML() from the Java class is called. No need to display anything, just do the treatment. Maybe make a refresh of the page afterwards, but that's it. I do not know how to pull this off, help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Juliencall your java class function in a jsp and link it.
For ex:
generatexml.jsp ---> call your function in this jsp
And make the link like this
GenerateXML
You can make it as a pop up and close the popup window once the process is over -
Characters getting lost while calling a remote function
Hi there,
I've got a problem concerning a remote function call.
Situation: System A has a function module ZFM_X with one importing parameter ("text" type string).
System B calls this function module ZFM_X through a remote function call.
It passes a string (containing 521 characters) variable to the importing parameter "text".
Unfortunately, only fragments of the imported text arrive in System A.
The text arriving in System A has the following pattern: The first 256 are correct, following 256 white spaces(blanks) following the last 9 characters of the imported text.
Example:
This is sent by System B to System A through a String variable.
http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:xxxx/servlet/ContentServer?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=PG&docId=4BB4C36F5A0200B9E1008000AC101219&accessMode=r&authId=CN%3DP60&expiration=20100420112054&secKey=MIH3BgkqhkiG9w0BBwKggekwgeYCAQExCzAJBgUrDgMCGgUAMAsGCSqGSIb3DQEHATGBxjCBwwIBATAZMA4xDDAKBgNVBAMTA1A2MAIHIAgIKARFNDAJBgUrDgMCGgUAoF0wGAYJKoZIhvcNAQkDMQsGCSqGSIb3DQEHATAcBgkqhkiG9w0BCQUxDxcNMTAwNDIwMDkyMDU0WjAjBgkqhkiG9w0BCQQxFgQUItgHQiYkW9BkScWnoMPkZiuCGSMwCQYHKoZIzjgEAwQuMCwCFGPGseHQSPV2%2F75OVMF2yMFzwfTLAhQgPRMvivyuii4gZ%2BJSKonPRsF1XA%3D%3D
At System A the following text arrives
http://xxx.xx.xx.xx:xxxx/servlet/ContentServer?get&pVersion=0046&contRep=PG&docId=4BB4C36F5A0200B9E1008000AC101219&accessMode=r&authId=CN%3DP60&expiration=20100420112054&secKey=MIH3BgkqhkiG9w0BBwKggekwgeYCAQExCzAJBgUrDgMCGgUAMAsGCSqGSIb3DQEHATGBxjCBwwIBATA 1XA%3D%3D
It definitely looks like a unicode problem. Oddly, we have another system constellation which is exactly the same as System A/B where we are doing this, and its working perfectly fine.
I hope you are not stunned by this wall of text, but any help is totally appreciated!
Edited by: Erik Nagler on Apr 20, 2010 11:54 AMHi,
I tried it with String type and Character type (CHAR1024).
Both dont work.
As far as the unicode test is concerned:
Sysem A is a unicode System whereas System B is a non-unicode system.
I tried to change the Radiobutton to "unicode" in sm59, but I can't.
It is uneditable, even though I am in change mode.

Order of arguments while calling a Java method from C
Hi
are there any rules to order the transferred arguments ?
I wanted to transfer a native window event from C to Java and if the called
java method is declared like this: (int, long, int) (IJI)V
public static void nativeMouseButtonDownCallback(int wParam, long lParam, int which)
the value of 'which' is not correct (always the same independent from what I set it to in the C function)
If I declare the java method like this: (int, int, long) (IIJ)V
public static void nativeMouseButtonDownCallback(int which, int wParam, long lParam)
everything is fine.
Any information appreciated !
Bye MarkThanks for your reply !
Initially I also thought that the set of the value could be wrong and so
I used a printf statement in C to monitor the transferred value.
And still: the value I put in was different from what I got in java.
After this I put in simple numbers like 1,2,3 and in java I still got
the same wrong value.(guess max signed int 21474836..)
I really replaced the dll and class files and restarted the IDE.
The problem got solved by changing the order of the long an int.

QName error while calling a web service from Sourcing
I need to call a web service from Sourcing script. The web service team has provided us the WSDL and I have generated the required stubs using wsimport and packaged the required java classes in a custom JAR. Now while calling a web method using this jar from my script, I am getting and exception. The exception message that I printed out was this:
Caught exception e with msg Connection IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection
IO Exception. Check nested exception for details. (Connection Exception; nested exception is:

The same jar and same code works fine when called from a standalone java program.
I am not using or creating QName anywhere in my script. The only place where QName is used is in the generated java class and there it is created from the correct namespace URL
Can anyone please help me out in figuring out what is the issue?This is the stack trace of the error:

This may be because of the file transfer mode(but I transferred in ASCII mode, still the special characters where appearing).
I opened a VI editor and pasted the same script. Save the file, tried to run the script, It was working fine.
I still didn't get how the special characters appeared. I used notepad++ as my editor. -

DeepakI would suggest you use the HTTP Analyzer to see what is sent to your service specifically and identify the missing part.
One common pattern that we see with complex web services, is to create a server side proxy that calls the complex service and exposes a simpler interface that is consumed by the mobile application.
This will also reduce the network traffic to your mobile application (and will likely reduce the application's size)
