Calling OC4J deployed EJB from Oracle 8.1.7 DB

Hi
I have deployed a Stateless Session Bean to OC4J (9.0.2). The client works fine. The Servlet and JSP works fine.
What I need to do now is call this EJB from PL/SQL , ie call from Database PL/SQL package to wrapper to OC4j EJB.
Trying to get this loaded into Oracle DB we get a class compilation error with the
com.evermind....rmi... class. I do believe this is the OC4J implementation of RMI lookup. Is there a comparable class to load in the DB?
Any ideas how to ??
Tks
Andre
Here is a client sample of calls to the EJB
package SampleWizUpdates;
import java.util.Hashtable;
import javax.naming.Context;
import javax.naming.InitialContext;
import WizUpdates.WizAllocTotals;
import WizUpdates.WizAllocTotalsHome;

public static void main(String [] args)
WizAllocTotalsClient2 wizAllocTotalsClient2 = new WizAllocTotalsClient2();
try
Hashtable env = new Hashtable();
env.put(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.evermind.server.rmi.RMIInitialContextFactory");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_PRINCIPAL, "admin");
env.put(Context.SECURITY_CREDENTIALS, "manager");
env.put(Context.PROVIDER_URL, "ormi://sdt10645:23791/WizAllocTotals");
Context ctx = new InitialContext(env);
WizAllocTotals totalsBean;
Object homeObject = ctx.lookup("WizAllocTotals");
WizAllocTotalsHome home =
(WizAllocTotalsHome)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(homeObject,
WizAllocTotalsHome.class);
totalsBean = (WizAllocTotals)PortableRemoteObject.narrow(home.create(),
WizAllocTotals.class);
// create new EJB instance
totalsBean = home.create( );

String newDataBase = "dwz3";
int eventRefNo = 17445291;
int actionNumber = 3;
int allocValue = 125;
totalsBean.setDataBase( newDataBase );
newRes = totalsBean.getOperatorTotals( operatorId, eventRefNo );

System.out.println("Insert result success message is "+newRes.resMessage);

Hi Andre,
I am using stand-alone OC4J version 9.0.2.0.0 under (SUN) Solaris 7
with JDK 1.3.1 and Oracle DBMS version 8.1.7.4.
I have not yet been able to create a java stored procedure in the
database that directly looks up an EJB deployed to OC4J.
The only two ways I have found to "talk to" an EJB from a java stored
procedure is
1) go through a servlet
2) go through a "remote" object (using RMI)
For the first option, deploy an application to OC4J that contains
your EJBs and a servlet (which acts as the client for the EJBs).
Then, from your java stored procedure, contact the servlet using
the classes in the "java.net" package -- including "URL" and "URLConnection".
For the second option, use the "rmiregistry" to register a remote
object. This remote object acts as the EJB client. The remote object
does not need to be part of an application deployed to OC4J. Then
contact the remote object from your java stored procedure.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Problem calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports

    Hi,
    I'm facing a problem in calling XML Report Publisher from Oracle Reports.
    Basically, I'm trying to customise Dunning Letter program. The program which is submitted calls another program. I have customised the second program and added a call to a stored procedure which in turn calls XML Report Publisher.I have created a template and attached it to the second program as well.
    The procedure code is as follows.
    v_request_id := FND_REQUEST.SUBMIT_REQUEST(application => 'AR'
    ,program => 'ARDLP_NON_SRS'
    ,description => 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate'
    ,sub_request => FALSE
    l_status := fnd_concurrent.WAIT_FOR_REQUEST
    ( REQUEST_ID => v_request_id,
    INTERVAL => 15,
    MAX_WAIT => 180,
    PHASE => l_phase,
    STATUS => l_status_code,
    DEV_PHASE => l_dev_phase,
    DEV_STATUS => l_dev_status,
    MESSAGE => l_message );
    v_xml_req_id := FND_REQUEST.submit_request(application => 'XDO',
    program => 'XDOREPPB',
              argument1 => v_request_id,
    argument2 => 'FLS DE AR Dunning Letter Print - German',
    argument3 => 603, -- changed 665 -- was 551,
    argument4     => NULL,
    argument5 => 'N',
    argument6     => 'RTF',
              argument7     => 'PDF');
    Now, there are two problems I'm facing...
    1. when the second program('Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate') gets called it executes this procedure ... logically the 'Dunning Letter Print from Dunning Letter Generate' should get called twice ... second time from the procedure. Its getting called multiple times .. as many as 15 - 20 times.
    2. The Xml Report Publisher program ultimately gets called but its erroring out with the following error:
    java.sql.SQLException: No corresponding LOB data found :SELECT L.FILE_DATA FILE_DATA, DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(L.FILE_DATA) FILE_LENGTH, L.LANGUAGE LANGUAGE, L.TERRITORY TERRITORY, B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE DEFAULT_LANGUAGE, B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY DEFAULT_TERRITORY,B.TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE TEMPLATE_TYPE_CODE, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.START_DATE START_DATE, B.END_DATE END_DATE, B.TEMPLATE_STATUS TEMPLATE_STATUS, B.USE_ALIAS_TABLE USE_ALIAS_TABLE, B.DS_APP_SHORT_NAME DS_APP_SHORT_NAME, B.DATA_SOURCE_CODE DATA_SOURCE_CODE, L.LOB_TYPE LOB_TYPE FROM XDO_LOBS L, XDO_TEMPLATES_B B WHERE (L.LOB_TYPE = 'TEMPLATE' OR L.LOB_TYPE = 'MLS_TEMPLATE') AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME= :1 AND L.LOB_CODE = :2 AND L.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME = B.APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME AND L.LOB_CODE = B.TEMPLATE_CODE AND ( (L.LANGUAGE = :3 AND L.TERRITORY = :4 ) OR (L.LANGUAGE = :5 AND L.TERRITORY = :6) OR (L.LANGUAGE= B.DEFAULT_LANGUAGE AND L.TERRITORY= B.DEFAULT_TERRITORY ) )
    I have checked from database that the XDO_LOBS/ XDO_TEMPLATES_B table has corresponding registration data.
    I don't know what's creating the problem.
    If anyone has customised the Dunning Letter program before or having any idea about this problem, please help me out ..
    Thanks

  • How to Call a jasper report from Oracle Forms 6i.

    Hi
    Can anybody tel me how to Call a jasper report from ORacle Forms 6i.
    Thanks & Regards
    Bango

    Forms 6i client/server? Use the HOST command to call the report. Since a Jasper report is just a call to a url, it will be something like:
    v_url := '<your url to the report>';
    host ('cmd /c start '||v_url);If it's web Forms 6i it even easier. Just use web.show_document(<url>).

  • Call a web services from oracle forms 10

    I have to call a web services from oracle forms.
    The version of the database is oracle 11gr2. the version of the forms is 10.1.2.0.2.
    I allready did the proxy creation and the import class within forms.
    I have 2 questions:
    1.
    I created the following procedure:
    PROCEDURE call_WS IS
         vobject1 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT;
         vobject2 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT;
    BEGIN
    vobject1 := WSEvaluarReglaCondicionComerci.new();
    vobject2 := WSEvaluarReglaCondicionComerci.listarValoresAtributoEvento(vobject1, 702, 2217, null, null, null);
    END;
    the function I calling:
    FUNCTION listarValoresAtributoEvento(
    obj ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a0 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a1 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a2 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT,
    a3 VARCHAR2,
    a4 ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT) RETURN ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT;
    Note that the parameters is ORA_JAVA_JOBJECT and I need to send numbers. I understand that when I import the classes, because in the WS those parameters are defined as BigDecimal, Forms understand them as java object but when I compile it reports the error: "numero o tipo de argumento erroneo al llamar..." type error.
    So the question is, how Cast the numbers to Java Object to send them.
    I have read in a web page that one option is to change in the web service the type of the parameters but that is not an option.
    2.
    The WS returns a super big XML as answer, so how I can parse the result into an Object type?...
    The object structure is:
    TYPE opciones_obj AS OBJECT
    (strindice VARCHAR2 (4000),
    nombrecompleto VARCHAR2 (4000),
    nombre VARCHAR2 (4000),
    strtipodato VARCHAR2 (4000),
    codigoopcion NUMBER,
    floatval FLOAT,
    strtipo VARCHAR2 (4000),
    strval VARCHAR2 (4000));
    and the tags to extract is:
    COLUMNS strindice VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="strIndice"]/ns2:value',
    nombrecompleto VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="nombreCompleto"]/ns2:value',
    nombre VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="nombre"]/ns2:value',
    strtipodato VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="strTipoDato"]/ns2:value',
    codigoopcion NUMBER
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="codigoOpcion"]/ns2:value',
    floatval FLOAT
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="floatVal"]/ns2:value',
    strtipo VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="strTipo"]/ns2:value',
    strval VARCHAR2 (4000)
    PATH 'ns2:mapEntry[ns2:key="strVal"]/ns2:value') x;
    xquery / xmltype aparently is not an option because the xml is too big.
    I will appreciate your answers.
    Thanks.

  • Call EJB From Oracle Stored proc or Database loaded Java?

    Are there any examples of calling an EJB, residing in the OC4J on a machine separate from the DB server,
    from an Oracle PL/SQL stored proc.
    The Stored proc can call java loaded into the DB. That java makes the intial bean context. Or another way if suggested.
    The reason is that I need to use some drivers that I have so far been unable to load directly into the DB using
    loadjava util. I plan on using the driver in the EJB, located on a different machine. But I'd like so know if its possible to
    make the IntialContext call to the EJB container from PL/SQL. Are the OC4J drivers loadable to be
    able to be called from a database loaded java class? ( I might be a little off on my terminology)
    Bob
    [email protected]

    Hi Bob,
    Your question has been previously asked on this forum many times already.
    You can probably find the relevant postings by doing a search of the
    forum archives.
    To summarize those posts, as I understand it, the latest version of OC4J
    (version 9.0.3) contains a "oc4jclient.jar" file (I think that's the name
    of the file), that can be loaded into the Oracle database (using the
    "loadjava" utility), and which allows a java stored procedure to invoke
    methods on an EJB residing in OC4J.
    Please note that I have not tried any of the above -- I am only summarizing
    for you what has already been posted. And like I said before, a search
    of the forum archives will probably give you more details.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

  • Calling a newly deployed EJB from an EJB gives a NoSuchMethod Exception if the jar of the newly deployed ejb is not in the classpath

    Hi ,
    I have an EJB A which is already deployed when the server starts. A second ejb
    B is deployed at a later time.
    EJB A calls methods in EJB B. I use reflection in EJB A to call methods in EJB
    B.
    I get a NoSuchMethodException when I call the create method in the Home object
    of EJB B. If I add the ejb jar file to the classpath before the server starts
    then it is able to resolve the method.
    The problem is the EJBs which are called from EJB A is not known before the server
    is started. New EJBs can be deployed at runtime and EJB A should be able call
    the methods in newly deployed EJB's.
    I also use the URLClassLoader to load all the classes in the jar file of the newly
    deployed EJB in EJB A and it still gives a NoSuchMethodException because it cannot
    resolve the stub class.
    My error log is shown below.

    Hi,
    I am attaching a test case. This test case actually demonstrates a security bug.
    Unzip the file and modify the StartWeblogic.cmd in domainA to not refer to the
    SampleRemoteEJB.jar in the classpath. If u run the test client under the client
    dir u will see a NoSuchMethodException.
    The reason is it is not able to load the dynamically generated stub file.
    Initially I had the getMethod and it didn't work. You might have to modify the
    files to suit ur env. The easier way is to run th edomain wizard and create 2
    domains. Run the servers in development mode and place the jars under the applications
    dir

    Can you post the code from SampleConctorEJB.java, line 181?
    Try changing your call to getDeclaredMethod() to getMethod().
    getDeclaredMethod() searches only the class you called it on, whereas
    getMethod() traverses to the superclasses and interfaces. You onlyneed
    getDeclaredMethod() when you're accessing a nonpublic method.
    Not sure if this will help, but it's worth a shot.

  • Calling EJB from Oracle via IIOP

    I've spent the last two days trying to figure out how I can call an
    EJB from an Oracle Stored Procedure. I first looked into WLS JNDI
    (Using WLInitialContextFactory ), but my collegue recommended I look
    into IIOP because it is "less proprietary". I was able to get a WL
    example working that does a lookup on an EJB and "narrows" the IIOP
    object...so it looked promissing, but then I tried to load the JAR
    into Oracle and it said:
    "referenced name javax/rmi/PortableRemoteObject could not be found"
    So I did a quick check and it looks like this didn't come into
    existance until JDK 1.3. By all accounts, Oracle 8.1.6 supports JDK 2
    (1.2). So now I'm stuck. I've got a few examples about connecting to
    the Oracle ORB using session-iiop, but I don't know if Weblogic will
    be able to work with this. I don't know how I'd even call it because
    the URL requires an Oracle SID...so now what? I see three options.
    Please let me know which would be best (or another option that I'm
    missing)
    1. Try connecting with Weblogic "T3"
    2. Try to get the right combination of classes loaded so 1.2 can work
    like 1.3
    3. Use the Oracle IIOP (I have no examples for connecting to other
    ORBs so I have no idea how to lookup objects).

    connect what is essentially a 1.2 JVM to a 1.3.1 JVM. On my way home
    yesterday I was wondering if just straight RMI would work...although
    we need to encrypt the connection. I've seen several people talk
    about calling EJB's from stored procedures so it seems like there is a
    way. Any other ideas?The really gross way is HTTP. In a previous life I had a customer use
    oracle's HTTP plug-in to do this. You could probably invert the
    problem also. I.e. write CORBA objects that sit inside an Orb hosted
    in WLS and invoke on those using oracle's CORBA support. But HTTP is
    probably the way most likely to work. You probably couldn't use RMI
    over HTTP either - you would have to write a servlet that delegated to

    Later I copied aurora_client.zip from Linux on to JDeveloper version.
    Still I get the same error.
    Any idea?
    Expecting your valuable suggestions.

    I am wondering about the classes in the database. This is from metalink.
    SELECT count(*)
    FROM dba_objects
    WHERE object_type LIKE '%JAVA%';
    If the above query returns a number < 4000, the installation was not
    successful.
    The query below checks for any invalid Java classes using a Java stored procedure:
    SELECT dbms_java.longname(name)
    FROM sys.obj$
    WHERE type# = 29 and status != 1;
    If the above query fails or returns any rows, then something is wrong with the JVM installation.
    You can also test the Jserver by using the examples in
    $OH/javavm/demo/examples/corba/basic/helloworld
    or
    $OH/javavm/demo/examples/ejb/basic/helloworld
    To compile classes in the database
    Alter Java Class " Name of the java class" compile;

  • Calling Dot Net program From oracle Database

    Hi
    is there any way to call DOT NET program Like C# from oracle database, i mean is there way to call it from pl-sql stored procedure or trigger ..etc
    I read that is possible with java , C, C++, but is it possible with C#
    Best Regards

    If your Oracle database is running on Windows and is a reasonably recent version (I believe 10.1 or later), it has the ability to create .Net stored procedures just like you have the ability to create Java stored procedures. That tends not to be a particularly commonly used feature but it's an option. If you compile your .Net application to a DLL, you could also call it as an external procedure.
    More commonly, however, if you're talking about a .Net program that is deployed on a middle tier server, however, would be for the .Net application to expose an API (say, a web service API) that the database could invoke (via UTL_DBWS or UTL_HTTP).

  • Deploying EJB in Oracle 9 iAS

    1. I read somewhere that since in oracle 9i AS , ejb are deployed into the DB ,site will be much faster and now oracle itself is recommending to use OC4J which is almost same as orion server
    OC4J is a superb implementation of the J2EE specification. Oracle ships and fully supports OC4J as the preferred J2EE (JSP, servlet, EJB) execution engine for Oracle9iAS.
    2. Will OC4J will work without oracle 9iAS
    Let me clarify one point - OC4J is a component of Oracle9iAS. It is licensed as part of Oracle9iAS.
    However, the OC4J component can be downloaded as a separate, small package and installed on it's own. For this scenario, it is 10MB to download and 15MB when installed.
    Additionally, the OC4J component is also shipped as part of the complete Oracle9iAS distribution.
    It runs equally as well in both scenarios.
    3. Which databse can(version - 8.1.6 or 8.1.7) can be used with 9iAS
    Oracle9iAS 1022 is certified with Oracle 8.0.6 and 8.1.7.

  • Problem calling AS8.2 EJB from Sun WebServer 6.1

    Last time I've probably posted my question in to the wrong forum. Sorry for cross-posting, but I really need to solve this issue.
    I am calling an EJB from a JSF portlet. When I deploy the portlet on a Sun Portal 7, running on a Webserver 6.1, then
    InitialContext.lookup(String)
    returns
    com.sun.corba.se.impl.corba.CORBAObjectImpl
    instead of
    ...MyClassHome_DynamicStub
    The PortableRemoteObject.narrow then returns null instead of the class...
    I've found a solution to this here: http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jspa?forumID=136&threadID=619420
    The solution is to use another INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY:
    props.setProperty(Context.INITIAL_CONTEXT_FACTORY, "com.sun.appserv.naming.S1ASCtxFactory")
    But I need this to be done on a WebServer, and
    com.sun.appserv.naming.S1ASCtxFactory is contained in the Application server jar (appserver-rt.jar I believe).
    According to this:
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6336410
    I can't use this jar in the Sun Webserver. And it's probably true, the portlet doesn't work with the jar packaged in to the WAR.
    Is there any other solution to this?

    Is there any other solution to this?Yes, there is. The EJB Client Jar was missing the RMI stubs. When I called the EJB from the AS8, the server probably created the stubs, but webserver didn't.
    rmic -iiop classname solved the issue.
