Calling program for a BADI

Hi experts,
I had created an implementation for a BADI. How do i link this implementation to the calling program.
In the first place can you please tell me how do i find the calling program using a BADI in general.
Will appreciate your help.

Badi's are called based on user action and the transaction. You can use the reverse approach to find when you badi is getting triggered. Say for example you inplemeted a Purchase order BADI the only way to find id you code will be triggered is by putting a break point in the code and executing the transaction. If you have not implemeted the badi yet you can use the below steps to find if the badi is triggered by the transaction.
hese steps should enable you to find any BADI related to any transaction.
1) Go to the transaction SE37 to find your function module.
2) Locate the function SXV_GET_CLIF_BY_NAME.
3) Put a breakpoint there.
4) Now open a new session.
5) Go to your transaction.
6) At that time, it will stop this function.
7) Double click on the function field EXIT_NAME.
8) That will give you name of the BADI that is provided in your transaction.

  • How to make use of values in calling program in a badi

    Hi
I have a badi implementation. i need to make use of some values in the program in the BADI. how do i access values in the program in the BADI.
    Regards,
    Chaitanya

    You can try this:
E.g (replace the table and program names with the one you need).:
      CONSTANTS: c_resbd(15) TYPE c VALUE '(SAPLCOIH)resbd'.
      FIELD-SYMBOLS: <fs_resbd> TYPE resbd.
      ASSIGN (c_resbd) TO <fs_resbd>.
If this doesn't work try exporting the variables you need to memory from a field/user exit.

  • How to find called programs for all zprograms?

    Hello dear colleagues,
I need kind of a report tree that answer the following question:
Wich transactions and external programs are called from every Ztransaction?, considering that such called program/transactions also call others.
Besides i need to know about authority check related to each call.
Is there a standard report or useful code?
    Any suggestion is appreciated.
    Thanks!

  • How to find out the calling point of a Badi

    Hi Experts,
Say one Badi is getting called in a particular screen of a transaction.
Can anyone please guide me how to find out the calling point for that Badi.
    I checked for transaction CC31 screen 2000, method IF_EX_ECM_EXIT~OMR_CHECK_01
    is getting called.
But I could not find the calling point.
    Please help.
    Thanks,

Go in to the perticular method, and click on where used list. That may help.
Or get into the method in debugging, and press F7. That will take you to the calling point.

  • Find original calling program or transaction...

    Hello,
I want to keep a User-exit from running when it is ran from LT23, but I want it to work from LT11. The problem is when the function to confirm the TO is executed in LT23, it does a call transaction to LT11.
So, in the user-exit SY-TCODE has LT11 in it.
I have tried using SYSTEM_CALLSTACK and the first program in there is the initiating program for LT11, SAPML03T.
So, does anyone know a way to be able to find that either LT23 or the program RLLT2300, was the calling program for the CALL Transaction to LT11?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Rocky

Interesting.  The only way that I can think of off the top of my head is to have a "Z" version of LT23 and hence a "Z" version of the program behind it.  Just before calling the transaction LT11, set some flag in a memeory id using the EXPORT statement.  Then in the user exit, IMPORT that flag,  if the value is set, then exit out of the user exit.
In the "Z" version of LT23.
    data: flag(1) type c.
    flag = 'X'.
EXPORT flag to MEMORY ID 'WHATEVER'.
In the user exit function module.
IMPORT flag FROM MEMORY ID 'WHATEVER'.
    if flag = 'X'.
    exit.
    endif.
Probably not the best way, but can't think of anything else right now.
Welcome to SDN.  Please remember to award points for any helpful answers that you might receive.  Thanks.

  • Any program for calling bapi from ABAP step by step

any program for calling bapi from ABAP step by step
    points will be rewarded,
    thank you,
    Jagrut BharatKumar Shukla

    Hi Jagrut,
BAPI stands for Business API(Application Program Interface).
A BAPI is remotely enabled function module ie it can be invoked from remote programs like standalone JAVA programs, web interface etc..
You can make your function module remotely enabled in attributes of Function module but
A BAPI are standard SAP function modules provided by SAP for remote access. Also they are part of Businees Objest Repository(BOR).
BAPI are RFC enabled function modules. the difference between RFc and BAPI are business objects. You create business objects and those are then registered in your BOR (Business Object Repository) which can be accessed outside the SAP system by using some other applications (Non-SAP) such as VB or JAVA. in this case u only specify the business object and its method from external system in BAPI there is no direct system call. while RFC are direct system call Some BAPIs provide basic functions and can be used for most SAP business object types. These BAPIs should be implemented the same for all business object types. Standardized BAPIs are easier to use and prevent users having to deal with a number of different BAPIs. Whenever possible, a standardized BAPI must be used in preference to an individual BAPI.
The following standardized BAPIs are provided:
Reading instances of SAP business objects
GetList ( ) With the BAPI GetList you can select a range of object key values, for example, company codes and material numbers.
The BAPI GetList() is a class method.
GetDetail() With the BAPI GetDetail() the details of an instance of a business object type are retrieved and returned to the calling program. The instance is identified via its key. The BAPI GetDetail() is an instance method. BAPIs that can create, change or delete instances of a business object type
The following BAPIs of the same object type have to be programmed so that they can be called several times within one transaction. For example, if, after sales order 1 has been created, a second sales order 2 is created in the same transaction, the second BAPI call must not affect the consistency of the sales order 2. After completing the transaction with a COMMIT WORK, both the orders are saved consistently in the database.
    Create( ) and CreateFromData! ( )
The BAPIs Create() and CreateFromData() create an instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. These BAPIs are class methods.
    Change( )
The BAPI Change() changes an existing instance of an SAP business object type, for example, a purchase order. The BAPI Change () is an instance method.
Delete( ) and Undelete( ) The BAPI Delete() deletes an instance of an SAP business object type from the database or sets a deletion flag.
The BAPI Undelete() removes a deletion flag. These BAPIs are instance methods.
Cancel ( ) Unlike the BAPI Delete(), the BAPI Cancel() cancels an instance of a business object type. The instance to be cancelled remains in the database and an additional instance is created and this is the one that is actually canceled. The Cancel() BAPI is an instance method.
Add<subobject> ( ) and Remove<subobject> ( ) The BAPI Add<subobject> adds a subobject to an existing object inst! ance and the BAPI and Remove<subobject> removes a subobject from an object instance. These BAPIs are instance methods.

    <b>EG::</b>
<b>Here is the step by step procedure for creating BAPIs.</b>
There are 5 different steps in BAPI.
    - Create BAPI Structure
    - Create BAPI Function Module or API Method.
    - Create BAPI object
    - Release BAPI Function Module.
    - Release BAPI object.
    Step1. Creating BAPI Structure:
    - Go to <SE11>.
    - Select Data Type & Enter a name.
    - Click on Create.
    - Note: Always BAPI should be in a development class with request number (Not Local Object).
    - Select Structure & hit ENTER.
    - Enter the fields from your database. Make sure that the first field is the Primary Key Field.
    - Then SAVE & ACTIVATE.
    Step 2. Creating BAPI module:
    - Enter TR.CODE <SE37>.
    - Before entering any thing, from the present screen that you are in, select the menu
Goto -> Function Groups -> Create Group.
Enter a name (Note: This name Must start with ZBAPI)
Let this screen be as it is and open another window and there, enter TR.CODE <SE80).
Click on the Third ICON that says Inactive Objects.
Select the group that you just created and click on Activate.
Notice that the group you created will disappear from the list of inactive objects.
    - Go back to ><SE37> screen and enter a name and hit <ENTER>. Then enter the group name that you just created and activated.
NOTE: When you release a function module the respective group will be attached to that particular application. It cannot be used for any other application. NEVER include an already existing group that is attached to another module.
Now click on the first Tab that says [ATTRIBUTES] and select the radio button that says remote-enabled module since we will be accessing this from any external system.
Then click on the second tab that says [IMPORT].
Enter a PARAMETER NAME, TYPE and the structure you created in the first step. Also select the check box ‘Pa’. All remotely enabled functional modules MUST be Pa enabled, where Pa means ‘Passed by Value’ and if you don’t select ‘Pa’, then that means it will be passed by reference..
Then click on tab that says [EXPORT].
Enter the following as is in the first three fields
RETURN TYPE BAPIRETURN (These 3 field values are always same)
Here also select ‘Pa’ meaning Pass by value.
Note: BAPIRETURN contains structure with message fields.
    Then SAVE and ACTIVATE.
    Step 3. Creating BAPI object:
    - Enter Tr.Code <SWO1> (Note. It is letter ‘O’ and not Zero).
    - Enter a name and then click on create. Enter details.
NOTE: Make sure that that Object Type and Program name are SAME.
    - Enter Application ‘M’, if you are using standard table Mara. If you are using your own database then select ‘Z’ at the bottom.
    - Then hit <ENTER>.
    - Now we have to add ‘Methods’. High light METHODS and then select the following from the menu:
Goto Utilities -> API Methods -> Add Methods.
    - Enter function Module name and hit <ENTER>.
    - Select the second FORWARD ARROW button (>)to go to next step.
    - Check if every thing looks ok and again click on FORWARD ARROW button (>).
    - Then select ‘YES’ and click on <SAVE>.
    - Now on a different screen goto TR.CODE <SE37>. Enter Function Module name and select from the top menu Function Module -> Release -> Release.
    - Goback to TR.CODE <SWO1>.
Here select the menu combination shown below in the same order.
    - Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Implemented.
    - Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type Component -> To Released.
    - Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Implemented.
    - Edit -> Change Release Status -> Object Type -> To Released.
    - Then click on <SAVE>.
    - Then click on Generate Button (4th button from left hand side looks like spinning wheel).
    - Then Click on the button that says ‘PROGRAM’ to see the source code.
To check if this is present in work flow goto TR.CODE <BAPI>.
Here it shows business object repository.
    - First click on the middle button and then select “ALL” and hit ENTER.
    - Goto tab [ALPHABETICAL] and look for the object that you created. This shows that the BAPI object has been created successfully

  • Writing a Batch Input or Call Transaction program for transaction code MMAM

    Hi All,
I'm writing a Batch Input or Call Transaction program for transaction code MMAM (Changing Material Type). The program was able to run but somehow I was not able to capture the log of the output after running MMAM. The log was not part of the SY-MESSAGE so adding in MESSTAB into call transaction doesn't help while BDC session logs shows only the transaction was processed.
Anyone has encounter such problems before?
    Regards,
    Ramu.

    Hi
    Overview of Batch Input Session
The first batch input method is to create a batch input session. It is the processing of this batch input session that updates the database, not the execution of the batch input program. i am giving you example for Change Vendor you practice for ur tcode
For our example, we will use the “Change Vendor” transaction (“FK02”) to add a street address to an already existing vendor.
    Step #1
Use “System&#61664;Status” menu path to determine online program name (SAPMF02K), screen number (0110)
    Step #2
Use “F1” key and “Technical Info” pushbutton in each screen field to be filled to determine the field name.
    Step #3
Determine how to proceed in the transaction
(save the record by clicking on the ‘Save’ pushbutton or pressing the ‘F11’ key).
The process flow of CALL TRANSACTION
A program that uses CALL TRANSACTION USING to process legacy data should execute thefollowing steps:
Prepare a BDCDATA structure for the transaction that you wish to run.
Prepare a internal table to store error messages Tab_Mess like structure of BDCMSGCOLL.
With a CALL TRANSACTION USING statement, call the transaction and prepare the BDCDATA structure. For example:
CALL TRANSACTION ‘MM01' USING BDCDATA MODE 'A' UPDATE 'S'. MESSAGES INTO TAB_MESS.
    IF SY-SUBRC <> 0.
    <Error_handling>.
    ENDIF.
    Overview of Batch Input Session
The first batch input method is to create a batch input session. It is the processing of this batch input session that updates the database, not the execution of the batch input program

  • Remote Function Call (RFC) within a BAdI in ECC to CRM

I've a remote enabled FM in a CRM system which I want to call within a BAdI implementation of a ECC system. As a result, the CRM system is the RFC server and the ECC system is the RFC client.
The FM in CRM simply gets the relevant rows of a Z table which, of course, only exists in CRM and passes these rows to the calling program as per parameter supplied by the calling program.
Now the BAdI in ECC is for changing 'Contracts' data in SAP (transactional data) before posting the contracts in the ECC database. The business uses a transaction where a large number of contracts are processed and documents posted in the system - and when this happens the system runs through (calls) the BAdI one contract at a time.
If I call the RFC enabled FM anywhere within this BAdI, it gets the data for one contract only so it reduces a great deal of performance in regards to memory consumption, network load etc. So I want to avoid this and call the RFC FM once instead, if possible.
Is it possible to call this RFC FM once only (to load the CRM Z table data for all contracts) and store it in a global table/area within the instantiated BAdI class (visibility public) so that when the BAdI is called the second time onwards it can read the global table/area by READ TABLE WITH KEY statement and avoid the RFC call for each BAdI call?
I was also thinking about may be using ABAP Shared Memory if this is a possibility in order to avoid the repeated RFC call? But this table on the RFC server changes frequently....so it might not be a good idea? or....??
I would greatly appreciate your inputs and thoughts regarding this; it would be great to hear if someone had had a similar experience.
    Cheers,
    Sougata.

As the Z table is only updated via a particular program in CRM - we developed and called a RFC enabled FM in that report when its updating the Z table to update the Z table in ECC to keep it in sync.
Short term benefit but might be long term pain if the Z table in CRM is updated by another program/process/application in the future! Not to mention any table field changes in CRM has to be also made in ECC everytime which is again a pain.
This is a workaround and definitely not a full-proof solution - but I guess these days one has to shut up and deliver whatever the customer wants!

  • How to search for a BADI in a transaction

    Hi All,
Please let me know the steps to find a BADI for a transaction.
    Thanks,
    Jaffer Ali.S

    check this.
u can find BADI's in different ways...
1>First go to any transaction->iN THE menu bar SYSTEM->STATUS->Get the program name ->double click->u will go to the program attached to the tcode. Now search term will be CALL CL_EXITHANDLER.Now u will get list of BADI'S available..
2>Goto SE24->Give class name as CL_EXITHANDLER->Display->double click on get_instance mathod->Now u will go inside the method->Now put break point on the cl_exithandler.Now go to any transaction code and pass dat..U will see that it will be stopped on the break point which u set on the cl_exithandler...In the exit name u can find list of badi's attached to the tcode..
There are multiple ways of searching for BADI.
    • Finding BADI Using CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE
    • Finding BADI Using SQL Trace (TCODE-ST05).
    • Finding BADI Using Repository Information System (TCODE- SE84).
    1. Go to the Transaction, for which we want to find the BADI, take the example of Transaction VD02. Click on System->Status. Double click on the program name. Once inside the program search for ‘CL_EXITHANDLER=>GET_INSTANCE’.
Make sure the radio button “In main program” is checked. A list of all the programs with call to the BADI’s will be listed.
The export parameter ‘EXIT_NAME’ for the method GET_INSTANCE of class CL_EXITHANDLER will have the user exit assigned to it. The changing parameter ‘INSTANCE’ will have the interface assigned to it. Double click on the method to enter the source code.Definition of Instance would give you the Interface name.
    2. Start transaction ST05 (Performance Analysis).
    /people/alwin.vandeput2/blog/2006/04/13/how-to-search-for-badis-trace-it
    3. Go to “Maintain Transaction” (TCODE- SE93).
Enter the Transaction VD02 for which you want to find BADI.
Click on the Display push buttons.
Get the Package Name. (Package VS in this case)
    Go to TCode: SE84->Enhancements->Business Add-inns->Definition
Enter the Package Name and Execute.
Here you get a list of all the Enhancement BADI’s for the given package MB.
The simplese way for finding BADI is
    1. chooes Tcode Program & package for that Tcode.
    2. Go to Tcode se18
    3. Press F4
    4. search by package or by program.
