calling Quit LabVIEW function inside a Callback VI (of an activeX component) is not closing the current instance of LabVIEW.

The bug is that the Quit LV function does not work when called from a VI launched through Asynchronous Call By Reference
AQ said that that bug was resolved in the 2013 beta, so you could try joining the beta to see if that solution also works for your case.

Put the VI in a project and open it from there, then it shouldn't autorun. You can use App.kind property of application to decide whether to close or not.

Quit LabVIEW function generates crash report in executable

Hello,
I am using the Quit labVIEW to close down an application when the VI is built into executable. If stop LabVIEW is used the application just stops and leaves the window open. When the Quit LabVIEW function is used in an executable the application closes down completely.
In the current app I am developing (Windows 7 - LV2014SP1) I have isolated the Quit LabVIEW function as the source of the Crash Report I am receiving after I exit the application. I inpsected the crash report and there was mention of a thread that did not have appropriate access. So I ran the same executable with Adminstrator privledge and the error went away. It appears the application I am developing does not have sufficient privledge to close itself down and this is generating the Crash Report.
I have used the Quit LabVIEW function for many applications in the past without issue. I have not confirmed yet whether the problem is specfic to the current application I am developing or to LV2014SP!.

Not that I am aware of. But here is my trick for shutting down an application. I put the FrontPanel Close method inside of a Conditional Diagram Disable. The invoke node only goes into the RunTime Engine == True case. This way, the front panel is not closed if you are in the development environment.

When Firefox is open the zoom function (option/command/space bar) does not work in Adobe programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). This happens only when Firefox is open and when I close it the zoom functions work fine again without having to restart the applications.
This is intermittent but happens quite frequently each day if Firefox is active.

I get a usable window, but zoom doesn't work as you noted.
How about using an intermediate page and window.open() for the target page? You can (mostly) restrict the chrome of windows opened that way, but it will leave behind the intermediate window...

In OS Yosemite the search function in Mail, Finder, Spotlight… does not work. Messages or documents with the search criteria are there and one could find them manually, but the search function fails to find them. Following advice from Apple Support (728965377):
1. I applied an Apple protocol for adware removal (Remove unwanted adware that displays pop-up ads and graphics on your Mac); I had none, because I had formally utilized a similar protocol that I had found in Internet, actually an app that implemented automatically Apple's adware removal protocol.
2. I rebuild the post boxes in Mail (Mail (Yosemite): Reconstruir buzones); It took a while but it functioned properly
3. I re-install the System (OS X Yosemite: Reinstalar OS X); It took about 4 hours but there was no problem whatsoever with the installation.
Afterwards I searched for messages in Mail, and documents in Finder and Spotlight, without any difficulty. The search function in all of them was working properly. But the next time that I needed to search messages or documents, an hour later or so, the problem reappear and a couple of new issues occurred:
1. in app RagTime 6.5.2 (Build 1821), www.ragtime.de, the menu bar disappears (it is invisible), when one performs certain operations, e. g., calculating a value with a formula, whether it is in a spreadsheet or some other component (text, drawing, etc.). After touching with the cursor the menu bar is visible again.
2. after reading an e-mail in Mail or copying an address, this is seeing as a floating object in the finder and over every application. There is no logical way to get rid of the floating object and neither copying or deleting or cutting it. It is not a big issue but nonetheless bothersome.
3. In Mail, messages with Flag or in VIP contacts cannot be seen in the appropriate folders, only in the Incoming mail folder, together with other messages. It seems to me, this issue is part of same search function problem.
4. The preview function within Mail does not show the attached documents to a message, whether it is in the IN, OUT or Draft boxes.

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try again to re-index Spotlight. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

When I went in to have it revert back to os6 (which worked fine!) I was actually asked if I had done any research before I installed the upgrade! As if this is the consumer's fault for being dumb enough to fall for the upgrade!

That is not what I have discovered, nor what others have discovered, nor what I was told when I went the Genius Bar. I cannot remotely mirror to my MacBook Pro and it only started the day after I installed the upgrade. We tested it with an iPad that had not been upgraded, no problem.

Some gestures have been removed in Firefox 4.
You can restore the zoom feature by changing the values of the related prefs on the about:config page.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the "Enter" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. 
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page. 
You can use the Filter bar at to top of the about:config page to locate a pref more easily.

Quit LabVIEW function doesn't work when called from Actor Framework

I need a functional workaround to this bug because my application's top-level panel is an Actor Core.vi override. Can the AEs please help, as suggested by Aristos_Queue (LV R&D member) in the link above?

Were you able to try the workaround AristosQueue gave you? Below is the workaround he suggested.
Not sure, but I think that it will work just fine if you start a VI running using the Run VI method and have it invoke the Quit LabVIEW node. Not the Call By Reference node, but just wire a Static VI Reference to the Run VI method with FALSE wired to the terminal for whether to wait for it to finish. That subVI will then be running as a top-level VI on its own... and the only thing on its diagram would be the Quit LabVIEW node. I think that will work. Haven't tried it, but based on the description in the CAR, I think it will work.

Transfer functions imported from Simulink through MIT not working in Labview

I am just starting to use Labview interface with Simulink using Model Interface Toolkit (MIT). I am trying to import an integrater model from simulink. The model is very simple. An input port connected to an output port through an integrator model (1/s). Here are the steps I used:
1. Build the model in Simulink.
2. Add the NI input-output ports to the model and place the NIVeriStandSignal Probe in the model.
3. Generate the dll using NiVeriStand.tlc as the target file option.
4. Import that dll into Labview using Load Model.vi. Follow the steps given in the example file for importing the input/ output ports info along with the timing info.
5. Then use a numeric control to input value to the integrator dll and pass the output from dll to a waveform chart.
But when I run the labview VI, the output in the chart is always zero. What could be the possible reason? Please let me know if I am making any mistake in the process?
I have used Fixed time step with ode4 (Runge-Kutta) as the solver options in Simulink during dll generation. I am using Labview 2014 and Matlab R2014a.
I have found the issue to occur only when I use any transfer functions or Plecs circuit with inductors or capacitors in my Simulink model. But when I use simulink model with only constant or maths functions like add, subtract etc, this process works and gives me the correct result in Labview.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can you build example programs with a solver included? Does the model work in The MathWorks, Inc. Simulink® Software without tying into LabVIEW? It is important that when you built the model you followed the four steps listed in this help file:

Callback mechanism is not working in Javascript

JDK versions: Problem occurs in JRE1.4.2 and JRE1.5 (JRE142_05, 5.0 beta), but NOT JRE1.3.1.
OS: WIndows
Here is the problem Scenario
1. A Webpage ( GOM - Javascript ) is running
2. Clicking on a button in the above webpage will load an applet ( enc3 )
3. Once we are done with the applet, click on return button to go back to GOM
4. To return to GOM, function performMiniflowReturnWithMessage in the java file is called which in turn calls "this.getAppletContext().showDocument(new URL(miniFlowClosePage.toString()),"_top");".
Subsequently function closeMiniflowWindow() is called in the HTML page which in turn calls sendREsultsToGOM.
Here the call to ""opener."+returnStatusMethodName+"(status, msg, data);";" is throwing a javascript error in Sun plugin.
Exact text of error message:
The exact error message is ( JavaScript Error: http://nc3ft3a.ugd.att.com/enc3home/closeminiflowapplet.html??Callback=NC3_alertOnError&Status=-1&Msg=Neither E2EPVC_ODBIDS or ROUTER_ODBID Params was not sent to VPN applet.&, line 44: opener.NC3_alertOnError is not a function )
Here are our findings :
1. I could notice that "getAppletContext().showDocument" is one java api that customer is using and this is being called before application encounters problem reported that is the javascript error
2. showDocument API's functionality is that it requests that the browser or applet viewer show the Web page indicated by the url argument. This API has 2 parameters one is URL and other is the TARGET.
Target can be any one these
a. "_self" show in the current frame
b. "_parent"show in the parent frame
c. "_top" show in the topmost frame
d. "_blank" show in a new unnamed top-level windownameshow in a new top-level window named name
3. In the customer's application, for this API showdocument, URL argument passed is "enc3home/closeminiflowapplet.html?" and _top is passed as Target argument. Hence, the expected behaviour is that topmost frame of this URL that is GOM should be shown instead the above javascript error is thrown. The probable cause could be that instead of getting the link to GOM ( topmost window of enc3 ), application is getting link to enc3 itself.
4. Actually this.getAppletContext() as used in the application along with showDocument sun.plugin.viewer.context.NetscapeAppletContext. Therefore NetscapeAppletContext.showDocument is called within the application.
5. NetscapeAppletContext extends DefaultPluginAppletContext and the showDocument method of this class is called. This function inturn calls doShowDocument. I suspect these functions and this needs to be investigated.
Also please note that the classes NetscapeAppletContext and DefaultPluginAppletContext are not there in 131 and customer says that problem is not there in 131. Also, the this.getAppletContext will return sun.plugin.navig.win32.AppletPluginContext.

Why does print function in Preview with Lion OS not work?

Since upgrading to Lion, the print functionality on Preview does not work. When you select Print, the rainbow wheel of misfortune appears and I have to force quit Preview after a while. The print window does not even appear to select a printer (I have multiple print drivers and drivers installed).
All other aplications print nornally as before the upgade.

After upgrading the EPSON drivers to version 2.8 under Lion, I now have an issue when printing PDF's with preview. Some text will not be printed, which is very odd. I have an Epson ALC2800 connected via ethernet, and I can successfully print the same documents from my windows 7 PC, or even from Acrobat reader on my MBP.
So, it seems that the issue is present in Preview, or at the least in the way, it prints. I hope someone can help me with this, because I use preview all the time (and I quite like the functions which are not present in Acrobat Reader)

The search function on my apple mail is not working.

The search function in Apple mail is not working. When I type in something to search by, the results are not showing up.
I've clicked on "All" on the search requirements to include all of my mailboxes.
I've also tried rebuilding the mailboxes with no results.
Has anyone else had this issue?

T42p vista fn + f3 and fn + f4 functions (turn off screen and sleep) not working correctly

Hi -- I recently installed windows vista on my T42p. It works fine except that the fn+f3 and fn+f4 functions do not work as expected. Before installing the hotkeys driver, the fn+f4 function worked correctly while f3 did not (going to sleep worked, turning the monitor off did not). I then installed the recommended hotkeys driver. Now fn+f4 makes the monitor turn off while f3 does nothing ... fn+f4 is supposed to put the laptop to sleep. On top of this, if i select "sleep" from the start menu, the computer turns the monitor off instead of going to sleep.
Presumably, the sleep button could still be telling the computer to go to sleep, but the actual operation of going to sleep is now broken? Just a guess. Anyways -- anyone know how to resolve this so that fn+f3 turns my monitor off and fn+f4 puts my computer to sleep?

I've too this problem, but more, my sound mute wasn't worked (for deblock, but it can block it few second before...) 5 days in 5-6 instalation of three version of winxp: winxp ru x64 sp2, winxp es/ru sp3 x32.
eventually I've found and ran "TPOSDSVC.exe" in instalation directory and it give an opportunity deblocking the sound volume!!!!!!!!!!!! and I don't need more functions
volume levels and brightness adjustment worked well without OSD (before I ran TPOSDSVC.exe) and with OSD.
and now I don't know worked this bustered sound driver in winxp x64.
