Calling Stored Procedure for Multiple records

Hi,
I have an use case where I have more than 2000 item and for every item I need to fetch around 70 more values as out parameters. Also i need to show all thoes values on UI.
So calling SP in loop is a problem as I can see the rendering the values and it's very slow.
Can anyone suggest better way to handle this case?

I don't know about the function you have written but...
Procedure will be created like following
Take an example: i want to create a procedure to take only first letter from the city of City column.
For this...
1). Create a physical table manually under the schema folder.
2). Give the name and select Table Type as "Stored Proc".
3). In "Default Initialization String" field, you should write the query saying "select substr(city,1,1) as Col1 from Regions". In query Col1 is the alias name i have given for the new column. (Click OK)
4). So, now this column should be part of the table newly created. So create a physical column under this newly created table with "Col1" name.
5). Double-click the column and specify the data type of that particular column. (This should be done otherwise you can't move it to BMM layer)
6). Now you can add this table to BMM layer by performing necessary joins w/o any errors or warnings. (This would be depending on your business requirement, for this some times you need to add keys also to the procedure to perform the joins and all)
7). By adding it to the presentation layer, in answers you can watch the results..
NOTE:
1). While writing the function names in Stored procedures, DB you are using is important. Because, functions will vary between the DB's.
2). Column name of newly created should match with the name you specified in the procedure as alias.
3). If you are retrieving 'n' no. of columns from the procedure then you need to create 'n' no. of columns manually.
4). For physical columns created manually, you need to specify the data type according to the type of data it's retrieving.
It may helpful to you in achieving your requirement. If not sorry... but i am sure it's helpful to you...

Current procedure can only display one picture per person, however, I am supposed to write a new procedure which displays multiple pictures for one person. When user click a button on report, APEX should call this procedure and returns next picture of the same person. The table is SOR_image. However, I rewrite the HTML expression as follows to test to display the second image.

But it never works. It is strange because even I use exactly same code as before but change procedure name, Oracle APEX cannot display an image. Stored procedure returning multiple records without using SYS_REFCURSOR

I am new to oracle stored procedures, have done stored procs in SQL server in past. I am trying to write single stored proc which will return multiple records. I have the stored proc as below and that is compiled without any errors.
We don't want to use SYS_REFCURSOR as output param b'coz the place from which this proc is gonna call, that system doesn't support SYS_REFCURSOR param.

Just out of curiosity, what are you using for API or driver that doesn't support a ref cursor? Ref cursors are pretty much the defacto standard for passing multiple records out of an Oracle procedure. Oracle's ODP.NET, OLEDB, ODBC, JDBC, OCI, all support ref cursors. Chances are that if the driver you're using doesn't support something as basic/fundamental as a ref cursor, it's probably also not going to support something else either.
You'll most likely want to check with the driver/api vendor on their recommended approach.

If procedure A calls procedure B,
I want to use some built-in in procedure B, to identify the name of the calling procedure (in this case "A")

I´ m trying calling a stored-procedure with two input-parameter; one of typ record (oracle) and one of type tabel of records. Is this possible (I think there are only types like string, integer etc. possible)? When not is there another possibility to work with that type?

Hi Frank,
I think stored procedures will not take Array of Records as a Input. If you want to make a loop funtionality etc then JDBC adapter will work accordingly. You need to just call the stored procedure from the JDBC adapter. It will work for the array of records(multiple occurences).

Alternative option is you can make use of Java Proxy and from there you can call stored procedure ..I think it is possible.. not tried.

In the Oracle Forms, I have a datablock based on the above stored procedure. When I execute the form and from the menu if I click on Execute Query the data block gets filled up with data (The datablock is configured to display 10 items as a tabular form).
At this point in time, I want to automate the process of displaying the data, hence I created a button and from there I want to call this stored procedure. So, in the button trigger I have the following statements

Creation of DB Adaptert for calling stored procedure in MS SQL server

I need to create a DB adapter to call a stored procedure in MS SQL Server.
I have gone thru the thread MS SQL Server database connection
It mentions that we need to use a command line utility for generating the wsdl and xsd for calling stored procedures in MS SQL server. Please provide information where to find this utility and how to use it.

Command line is required for stored procedures, if you are using the basic options you don't need to worry.
(1) Download MS SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver from Microsoft Site. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/data/aa937724.aspx
(2) The download is self extracting exe file. Extract this into Program Files on your machine. It should create folder as "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver"
(3) In above mentioned folder search for sqljdbc.jar copy this file into JDeveloper\JDBC\lib folder.
(4) Open JDeveloper/jdev/bin/jdev.conf file add following entry.
AddJavaLibPath C:/Program files/Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC/lib
While executing this step make sure that your JDeveloper is closed.
(5) On command prompt go to J Developer folder and execute following command
jdev -verbose
This will open JDeveloper.
(6) Now go to JDeveloper > Connections > Database Connections > New Database Connection
(7) Select Third Party JDBC
(8) Specify MS Sql Server User Name, password and Role.
(9) In connection page specify following
- Driver Class: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
- For class path browse to C:/Program files/Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Driver for JDBC/lib folder, select sqljdbc.jar add it as library.
- Specify URL as following.
jdbc:sqlserver://SERVERNAME:1433;databaseName=MSSQLDBNAME;
(10) Go to Test page and test it.

I need to call a stored procedure for each row returned by a repeating frame. I called the stored procedure from the repeating frame format trigger, but that did not work( it did no populated the tables populated by the stored procedure)

As for calling an Oracle Strored Procedure, it is possible using a RECEIVER JDBC adapter, but not a SENDER JDBC adapter.

Also, this imported archive should be under any Namespace, but, it should be in the same SWCV as the one in which the mapping is being executed.

Louis,
If I'm not mistaken, record types are not allowed. However, you can use object types instead. However, they must be database types. In other words, something like:
create or replace type ROW_ABC as object (
col1 varchar2(16),
col2 varchar2(16),
col3 varchar2(16 )
create or replace type MATRIX_ABC as table of ROW_ABC
/Then you can use the "ARRAY" and "STRUCT" (SQL) types in your java code. If I remember correctly, I recently answered a similar question either in this forum, or at JavaRanch -- but I'm too lazy to look for it now. Do a search for the terms "ARRAY" and "STRUCT".

Can JDBC adapter be scheduled to call stored procedure in other database passing previous date as input parameter

actually our scenario is jdbc->XI( <-RFC->)->File
Here our payload is around 5000 records
can it be advisable to use rfc synchronous communication.
The scenario will be exected only in night times.so can we schedule the adapter as we are using sp9.
If not what must be the good design approach.
And also after scheduling to a perticular period ,if there is any down time of XI server,will the process start immediately after the sever up or it will again watch for that perticular time.

1) If you are using autonomous transactions for anything other that writing log data that you want to preserve even if the triggering transaction fails, you're probably doing something wrong. There is no reason to use an autonomous transaction here.
2) You don't want to send email from a trigger. You don't want to do anything non-transactional in a trigger. Oracle will, for example, rollback and re-execute parts of a statement for write consistency. If you send email in a trigger, you may get multiple emails for a single update. You may also get emails for updates that were never committed. And if the email server happens to be down, your transactions will fail.
3) If you use an autonomous transaction, the trigger will have a completely different transaction context from the parent. So when you query the table within the trigger, you won't be able to see any of the uncommitted changes including the changes that caused the trigger to fire. My guess is that you are assuming that the row that you inserted is visible to the trigger.

Stored Procedure for Accounts Receivable

Hi. First off, apologies in advance if I have put this question into the wrong topic. Secondly, I first saw SAP 3 weeks ago when I stared my new job and have had no training so please bear with me if some of what I ask doesn't make much sense.
OK, the issue is this. In SAP B1, there is a built in Report called "Customer Receivables Aging" which allows you to see Customer Receivable Accounts by age (e.g 0-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+) and so on. The problem with the built in report is that it doesn't show all the fields I want - it only shows the Customer Name, balance, and then the aging balances. I want to be able to see things like the customer's contact details, etc. I know this makes no sense because the whole point of the report is to be able to drill down into the different rows, but this report needs to be issued in printed form, hence the need for the extra fields.
Since I can't seen any way from within SAP to change the fields returned by this report, I thought I'd have a stab at writing my own SQL to select out the same data along with the extra fields I wanted. That's when the problems began...try as I might, I cannot get my figures to tally with the SAP Report.
They are almost correct, but not quite. I am sure that I am missing a selection or some other element of the logic that B1 uses to create the built in report.
If you want, I can post the SQL I'm using....I'm not an SQL guru by any means, but I do know my way around it; the biggest problem I have is that I cannot find any documentation as to the 4 letter tables that SAP uses and their relationships except on the most basic level (e.g ORIN is Open Return Invoice [maybe])
Then I thought maybe it might be possible to edit that report section in B1 using the SDK. That would be a better solution as I would not have to 'reinvent the wheel', I can just SELECT an extra field or three to include in the report.
So my question is
->Does anyone have a stored procedure for SQL Server that can replicate correctly the SAP B1 "Customer Receivable Aging", even just the process SAP uses to gather this data would be good.
OR
is it possible to edit this report in SAP to put in the extra fields I want.
Or, am I totally barking up the wrong tree? Thanks in advance, I know this is a long post.

Hi Stephen,
There should be a print layout attached to the on-screen report. This can be altered to show the additional fields you want without resorting to SDK or SQL development.
When you have the Customer Receivables Ageing report open on screen, choose Tools-Print Layout Designer or click on the Print Layout Designer icon on the toolbar. When prompted, choose the layout you wish to edit and you'll be taken to the layout design. In the layout, you can add additional fields and should be able to add most business partner fields. As the report is set to portrait by default, I recommend changing it to landscape so you have lots more space to add the extra fields you want. This report writer is fairly intuitive, if a little basic.
You will need to save this new report design, set it to be the default layout and then when you select to print the Customer Receivables Ageing report (ie Print Preview or Print) you will see the new report.

Executing a stored procedure containing multiple Select statements

I am using Crystal 10.0 against a MS SQL 2000 server.
I am trying to create a report based on a stored procedure that contains multiple select statements. The sp requires a single parameter (Claim number) and contains 17 Select statements that produce results.
I am able to use the Add command and execute the sp with the parameter, but I am only getting the results of the first select statement in the sp back in my data set. Is there a way to have the data from each Select statement returned to my report?
I have used Crystal for a while, but pretty much for straight-forward reporting. I am familiar with the basics of SQL.
I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.

I believe Crystal Reports can only handle one recordset at a time, which means it can only handle a single select statement. The only way I can see around this would be to break up your stored procedure into multiple stored procedures, so that each only contains a single select statement.
