Calling WD Java component in WD ABAP

Hi Experts,
I've a requirement to call WD Java application in my custom WD Abap component.
In Ehp4 time management module, the time recording application is designed in WD java component while Ehp5 the same appln is designed in WD ABAP.
Now I need to call either of this application based on country grouping. For eg: If an employee belongs to US then i need to call WD ABAP component, while if an employee belongs to Canada then it should open WD Java component.
Could you pls clarify whether we can call a WD Java application using any Class / Functional module. If yes, pls let me know

Hello Ronni,
It is not possible to invoke a webdynpro java component in webdynpro abap, but we can call the appliction of the webdynpro java in webdynpro abap and vice versa.

Dear Ajay,
Assuming that both your applications WDA & WDJ are in the portal & you don't have to pass any parameters to the WDJ application.
Write the following code on the action where you would call the WDJ application.
DATA:
        lr_compcontroller TYPE REF TO ig_componentcontroller,
        l_component TYPE REF TO if_wd_component ,
        lr_port_manager TYPE REF TO if_wd_portal_integration ,
        wa_navigation TYPE navigation.
lr_compcontroller =   wd_this->get_componentcontroller_ctr( ).
l_component = lr_compcontroller->wd_get_api( ).
lr_port_manager = l_component->get_portal_manager( ) .
* The value inserted into the navigation-target field can be found in the Portal
* content administration tab of your portal. It is the ID or PCD Location field
wa_navigation-target = pcd. " Please provide the PCD Location of the WDJ Application here.
wa_navigation-mode   = '0'. "0 = INTERNAL(same page) and 1 = EXTERNAL(new page).
CALL METHOD lr_port_manager->navigate_absolute
    EXPORTING
      navigation_target = wa_navigation-target
      navigation_mode   = wa_navigation-mode.
You can get the PCD from the Page properties of the WDJ application page in the Portal.

Call webdynpro java Web Service from ABAP

Hello,
This is regarding calling portal web service from ABAP.
1. created web service in NWDS and deployed it to portal server
2. created abap proxy to call this web service from abap SE80 transaction
3. created logical portal for the above proxy LPCONFIG transaction
this is working perfectly. the web service is getting called from abap and funcitonality is working
but my doubt is we have no where given the login password for portal server in the abap system
then how come it works without login password
if i run this web service directly from portal in wsnavigator, then portal login is required.
If we want to incorporate authentication then how to do that ?

When you are testing the application in SE80.
Is it ot asking for the user id password.
I created a similar service and for me its asking for user id and password.
Go to SM59 and there look for a RFC destination of type HTTP Connection to External Serv. usually will be named as
SAP_PROXY_ESR.
for this connection check the logon and security tab.
may be some user id and password is given there. means hardcoded.

And as you said it Java Webdynpro application, it should be possible to generate the URL for the Application at runtime.
I also haven't tried, but it should work. Please let me know if LinkTOURL doesnt suffice, we can try and check if it works.

Call a Java file from ABAP

Hi,
I would like your help in identifying a mechanism in calling a Java Program from an ABAP program. The requirement is that I need to pass enough parameters(possibly in a single object like a table) and fetch that in a Java Program residing in a jar in the J2EE engine. The possibility of this java file interpreting this incoming object and also be able to return something to ABAP which can eventually be printed on the screen needs to be known.
I also would like to validate an assumption of mine which is that, the jar(the receipient java file) file needs to be put under the directory
"\usr\sap\SystemID\instancenumberj2ee\deploying\lib"

but for your case what you could do is, on the java side get developed a jsp page which will receive data and use the jar to proces and return the results as xml. once thats done.
from abap you can use cl_http_client class to call this jsp page to pass parameters and get the processed results from jsp page.

How can I call a java object from Web dynpro ABAP application?

I made Web dynpro ABAP application and posted it to SAP EP.
For certain business purpose, we need to call external 3rd party java object using 3rd party's java api in Web dynpro application.
Is there anybody who experienced this kind of java interface issue?
I know Web dynpro Java environment can fully support this kind of requirement. but regarding Web dynpro ABAP, I couldn't find any clue for this.
Any comment or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

if you have jco configured, then you can make calls to java api from ABAP .

As said by my fellow posters Java Devolopment Environment (Except Microsoft implementation of JVM,this is no longer supported by MS themseleves) does not provide an built-in support to serve this cause.

Call WD Java from WD ABAP

My requirement is to call WD java in portal from WD ABAP .
I Searched and found it is possible by using PCD Path but i am not able to do .
I tried it and now called application is opening up but full portal opens up in a separate browser , i want only that Iview should open in same browser.

Error when calling Java Web Services from ABAP.

Hello experts:
    In my project, I will call Java Web Services with ABAP coding. With WSDL, I generated a proxy class and created a HTTP connection (t-code: SM59) and a logical port (t-code:lpconfig) for this proxy class. But when running, I would receive the folllowing errors:
   SOAP:1.023 SRT: Processing error in Internet Communication Framework: ("ICF Error when receiving the response: HTTP COMMUNICATION FAILURE")
   If I used HTTPS, there is no problem.

Hi Bob,
It might be the possibility that your java web server is configured to listen only on HTTPS.
If your HTTPS is working fine, then first check with your JAVA server for HTTP connectivity, then try it calling through ABAP.

Duration of an Abap Function call from Java using Jco3

Hi guys!
I would like to use this discussion to get some refernces of the duration Timespan of an RFC call from Java to SAP. At the moment, i need at last about 200ms to call the Abap function. I'm just using one simple import and export parameter (so no deep structures). I think that the reason for my poor performance is, that the Java Tool and the SAP instance are not in the same network. So, i hope some of you have some data, how fast an RFC call from Java using Jco can be executed.

Hi Hannes,
I think you have already got the answer to your question - the network set-up you have is probably the bottleneck. Whenever I've worked with Java <-> ABAP and they are in the same network, I've had no performance problems at all.
Does your RFC contain any complex logic or business processes? Are you able to try and call something that does nothing, say it just accepts an input string and returns it straight away as an export. Do you have any scope for testing with your Java tool on the same network as the SAP system?

Calling java web dynpro from ABAP

I have a double problem!
First I want to call a java web dynpro application from ABAP. I managed to do it using :
call method cl_gui_frontend_services=>execute

exceptions
others = 1.
Where url is the java application url with parameters. It's working...
...but here comes the second problem : i need SSO So first solution is not sufficent.
Can anybody help?

Ok looking for the solution i figure out that it won't be possible anyway, i need a first log to the portal in order to issue a logon ticket before any attempt of SSO authentication.

Calling a java class from abap/bsp

I am still learning ABAP. I need to call a java class (a chart drawing library) from ABAP or from a BSP. What is the best way to do that ?
Basically I would create an object, pass data from a database and then get some binary data from that object (an image).
