Calling wml script function in jsp?

how can i write/call wml sciprt function(for doing client side validations) in a jsp?
becoz we are using wml code in jsps, but we are not using any wml script functions for client side validations.
please help me ...

What do you mean by "wml".. Java server pages are a server side technology. They do not execute on the client.

  • How to call PL/SQL function from JSP ?

    We have the JSP application developed using the JDeveloper 3.0. I am trying to call the PL/SQL DB function. I'm trying to use the method of ApplicationModule:
    .getTransaction().executeCommand(sCommand)
    The problem is that I can not get the function result back to JSP. The executeCommand() does not seem to accept any host variables.
    What to do ? Did anyone manage to get the feedback from DB ?
    Here is the code in the JSP page:
    <%! String res=" ";%>
    <jsp:useBean id="rsn"
    class="oracle.jbo.html.databeans.TRSRowSetNavigator"
    scope="request" >
    <%
    rsn.initialize(application,session, request,response,
    out,"theIMO_trs_bc4J_Bc4JModule.AuctionsListView");
    rsn.setReleaseApplicationResources(true);
    // this is the ID to be copied
    String copy_id = request.getParameter(TRS.LOOK_UP_PK_FIELD);
    if( copy_id != null) {
    // call the PL/SQL procedure to create copy of this auction
    String sCommand = "DECLARE a NUMBER; BEGIN :res:=Copy_Auction("
    copy_id"); END;";
    rsn.getRowSet().getApplicationModule().getTransaction().executeCommand(sCommand);
    rsn.getRowSet().getApplicationModule().getTransaction().commit();
    I receive the following error:
    Error Message: JBO-27121: SQL error during statement execution. Statement: DECLARE a NUMBER; BEGIN :res:=Copy_Auction(45); END;
    JBO Error:JBO-27121: SQL error during statement execution. Statement: DECLARE a NUMBER; BEGIN :res:=Copy_Auction(45); END;: ORA-01008: not all variables bound
    What criteria has the host variable meet to be used in the executeCommand(sCommand) method ?
    Thanks,

    I could be wrong there, but I have experienced similar problem on tru64 unix, with sticky bit not in place for the following files: $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracle and $ORACLE_HOME/bin/oracleO. Once you restore those files via tar command (this is what happened to me), the sticky bit disappears, and you have to re-introduce it by issuing unix command: chmod 1777 on those files.
    What it does for you - it allows you to execute the sql statements as an oracle user & group!
    Otherwise, if this bit is lost, whenever you try to connect to sqlplus via user / password it hits you back with:
    ORA-01034 ORACLE not available
    ORA-27121 unable to determine size of shared memory segment
    Compaq Tru64 UNIX Error: 13:Permission denied
    This should not be a problem if you try and execute the same sql statements using listener (connecting to the server by using @ statement).
    I could be late in response to you, but maybe not for other people.

  • Calling pl/sql function from JSP to get data

    Hi,
    Ideally I want to pass the results of a PL/SQL function or procedure to my JSP page as a resultset or an array.
    I've manage to pass all the data as a string like this:
    // this works for a function that returns a string
    String str;
         CallableStatement cstmt = conn.prepareCall("begin ?:= temp_package.pass_string(); end;");
         cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,Types.VARCHAR);
         cstmt.execute();
         str = cstmt.getString(1);
    but if I try to pass a collection or Varray or Ref Cursor like this:
    // LETS TRY A PROCEDURE THAT ALTERS THE CONTENTS OF AN ARRAY
         CallableStatement cstmt = conn.prepareCall(" begin ?:= temp_package.pass_varray(); end;");
         cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,Types.ARRAY);
         cstmt.execute();
    or this:
    CallableStatement cstmt = conn.prepareCall(" begin ?:= temp_package.pass_cursor(); end;");
         cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,Types.CURSOR);
         cstmt.execute();
    or this:
    CallableStatement cstmt = conn.prepareCall(" begin ?:= temp_package.pass_cursor(); end;");
         cstmt.registerOutParameter(1,OracleTypes.CURSOR);
         cstmt.execute();
    I get an error saying that the type cant be translated or something similar. It seems happy with VARCHAR but not with ARRAY,VARRAY or CURSOR.
    Can anyone help please as this has driven me crazy for hours surfing google and various forums. Thanks.

    Ok, I made the changes, but I'm now getting the following error:
    Error code = 1403
    Error message = ORA-01403: no data found
    ORA-06512: at "IOBOARD.GETSTATUS", line 6
    ORA-06512: at line 1
    The ora-01403 I don't understand because there is data for the name Kelly.Brace.
    ora-06512 error: at string line string.
    Here's what the code looks like after I made the changes:
    String sql = "{?=call ioboard.GetStatus(?)}";
          // create a Statement object
          myStatement = myConnection.prepareCall( sql );
          myStatement.setString( 1, "Kelly.Brace" );
          myStatement.registerOutParameter(2, java.sql.Types.LONGVARCHAR );
          // create a ResultSet object, and populate it with the
          // result of a SELECT statement
          ResultSet myResultSet = myStatement.executeQuery();
          // retrieve the row from the ResultSet using the
          // next() method
          myResultSet.next();
          // retrieve the user from the row in the ResultSet using the
          // getString() method
          String status = myResultSet.getString(1);
          System.out.println("Hello Kelly, your status is: " + status);
          // close this ResultSet object using the close() method
          myResultSet.close();Here's what the function looks like:
    CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION GetStatus( user_name in varchar2)
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    is
    v_status varchar2(10);
    BEGIN
    select iob_location into v_status
    from ioboard.iob_user
    where iob_username = user_name;
      RETURN( v_status);
    END;This works perfectly in the SQL Window:
    select iob_location
    from ioboard.iob_user
    where iob_username = 'Kelly.Brace';

  • Calling java script function in portal

    Hi,
    I want all the users (anonymous & logged in) of my portal application to have drag and drop facility to my portlets. I couldn't see DVT enabled property in my workspace as mentioned in
    http://edocs.bea.com/wlp/docs102/portals/develop_portals.html#wp1057635
    How to activiate this feature? Will it support anonymous user to change the portlet locations?
    Alternative:
    I found JQuery UI from http://ui.jquery.com/ has sortalble javascript function. It has the similar feature like drag and drop.
    Please let me know, how to add jquery.js sortable javascript function to my portal application, so that users can place the portlets in any place within the page.
    Thanks
    Baskar

    Hi ,
    I guess visitor tool (deskop shell property) allows only logged in users to move the portlets. correct me if i am wrong. It would be very helpful if you point me to some good documentation on this.
    I would like to have this feature for non-logged in users also. Is it possible in weblogic portal V 10
    Thanks

    How to pass a JSP variable to a Java Script function called in a netui:checkbox onSelect?
    I have a requirement where based on the checkBox selected or deselected in a repeater tag I would have to select or deselect other checkboxes in a netui:form. I am trying to pass the index or unique name of the checkbox to the JavaScript function. When I try this code I am getting a Syntax Error!! and getting a " item undefined" in the javascript. This works when I use just the html form tag but when I use the <netui:form> tag I am facing this issue. Any help would be highly appreciated.

    hi
    i did not go thru your code completly
    but u can use the following for your problem
    the checkbox in the repeater must have unique TagID
    counter = 0; (initialize)
    <netui-data:repeaterItem>
    <netui:checkBox dataSource="" tagId='<%="count"+String.valueOf(counter)%>' onClick="some function()" />
    <%counter++;%>
    </netui-data:repeaterItem>
    here if u have 3 checkbox
    They will have Tagid's as count1 , count2 and count3
    now in the javascript somefunction()
    use the following line
    for(j=0;j<<%=counter%>;j++)
    document.forms(0)[getNetuiTagName"count"+j)].checked=false;
    }

    Are you talking about server-side java code (servlets/jsp) or client side (applet)? Given we are in the JSP forum I'll assume we're talking server side.
    If so, you are making a common but fundamental mistake. JavaScript executes on the client, not on the server. If you want client data on the server it has to get there somehow. The simplest way to do this in JSP land is via HTTP. So... have your JavaScript code call a JSP (or servlet) and pass the value you want as a URL parameter. Of course this will also change the browser location, so if you don't want this to happen use a frame or iframe to capture your HTTP request.
    For example:
    Javascript....
    function someFunction() {
    return 1;
    var value = someFunction();
    location.href="somejsp.jsp?value=" + value;

  • Help needed in calling a javascript function from a jsp

    Hey guys,
    I need help.
    In my jsp I have a field called date. When i get date field from the database, it is a concatination of date and time field, so I wrote a small javascript function to strip just the date part from this date and time value.
    The javascript function is
    function formatDate(fieldName)
              var timer=fieldName;
              timer = timer.substring(5,7)+"/"+timer.substring(8,10)+"/"+timer.substring(0,4);
              return timer;
    Now I want to call this javascript function from the input tag in jsp where I am displaying the value of date. Check below
    This is one way I tried to do:
    <input size="13" name="startDate" maxLength="255" value=<script>formatDate("<%=startDate%>")</script> onChange="checkDate(this)">
    I even tried this:
    <input size="13" name="startDate" maxLength="255" value="'formatDate(<%=startDate%>)'" onChange="checkDate(this)">
    But it dosen't work
    Please help. I am struggling on this for days.

    This error has nothing to do with Forms, it is an JavaScript error.
    Most likely cause is this line
    if (url.length) {url.length returns a Whole number and so the conditions would be
    if (url.length > 0) {Or
    if (url) {  // not null checkCheers,

  • Calling a java script function while page loads in ebiz

    Hi OAF gurus,
    I have a requirement of Calling a java script function at each OAF page renders or Loads.
    I.e. when any OAF page loads or render in Oracle e-biz i have a java script function which needs to be called Is there any way to implement the above mentioned requirement.
    Many thanks in advance..
    Sourav

    Hi!
    From OAF classes java doc:
    oracle.apps.fnd.framework.webui.OAPageBean
    A class for processing and rendering HTML pages, designed to be invoked from either a JSP page or a servlet.
    Allows you to:
    Validate a user's session and redirect to a login page.
    Set the servlet Response content type to the correct character set as defined by the ICX_CLIENT_IANA_ENCODING profile. (The character set should NOT be set in the JSP page ContentType declaration.)
    Parse a HTTP Request and initialize BC4J application modules and view objects. (For HTML post, apply the content of the submitted form parameters to view objects.)
    Render a HTML page header and body
    It has 2 metods:
    public void renderDocument()
    Renders the HTML document. This is the most common API invoked by JSPs or servlets, and is used to render both the HTML header and body.
    renderBody
    public void renderBody()
    Renders the HTML body only.
    I think you can decompile this class or get the source from oracle and add your javascript code into this method.
    When OA page rendered, your code would be added to avery page, i think
    But it's some kind of hack or something ;-)

  • How to call the java method in java script function in a portal application

    Hi Friends,
    I am developing one application where i need to fetch the data from KM content and displaying it on the screen in regular interval. I wrote one method in JSPdynpage for fetching data from KM content now I need to call that java method in java script function.
    java method(IComponentRequest request)
    //Coode for fetching the KM content
    function()
    <b>//Need to call the java method</b>
    setTimeout(function, 5000);//setting the time interval for this function
    <<htmlb display code>>
    If anybody can help me in calling the java method in java script function that will be very helpful for me.
    Thanks in advance,

  • JSPs and calling a DB function/procedure

    I looked at an example written by Oracle and I saw that they put in the <form> tag (in a JSP) an "action" that is really a name of a DB procedure. It was in the form of:
    schemaName.packageName.procedureName
    First: I've tried to do that myself -- just create simple HTML page, have an <input> with the "type" of "text", and in the <form>'s action put the procedure's full 'path' name. Did not work. Am I missing anything? What's the right way to do it?
    What I see in the browser's URL is:
    "http://serverName:portNum/.../pls/portal30/PORTAL30.MYPACKAGE.MYPROCEDURE?" But I see an empty page.
    Second: looking at the actual procedure body of the example, I saw that the procedure's parameters are given the same exact name as the names of the <input>'s in the JSP page. Like:
    <input type="text" name="txtFirstName">
    and in the procedure:
    someProcedureName(txtFirstName integer)
    Is that the way to pass parameters to a DB procedure? (by using the same name)
    Third: Can I call a DB function from a JSP's <form>'s "action" and get the return value somehow? Meaning, I want to know whether the function's operation was successful and no exceptions were thrown. And if there were some exceptions thrown, I want to let the user know somehow.... How?
    A lot of questions, I know, but I still gotta know... :-)
    Thanks!
    Dan

    Dan,
    Sorry for the late answer, hope it's not too late yet.
    1) If you make your DB procudures accessible from a plain browser, you can obviously define that URL as an html form action. Make sure that your procedures are accessible when typing in the URL in your browser. You need to check whether you have privileges to access the procedure, and the DAD settings too.How do I make my DB procedures accessible from a plain browser?
    Is just making a "GRANT" to that procedure to that user enough? And what do I need to do with the DAD?
    Is the "?" question mark in your URL, or has it been added by the forum only? You don't need it as long as you don't want to pass parameters.Question mark was added by the browser..
    3) I'd probably do it through passing the error code to the JSP as a parameter. You find information about reading parameters in the PDK. Yes, but how do I pass it BACK to the browser? I do know how to pass parameters to a "regular" JSP (one that has nothing to do with the portal). But this one involves the DB -- how do I tell my DB function to send an "answer" back to the browser? It would send the function's return value straight to the browser because the browser was the thing that called it in the first place?
