Camera Raw CS5 fails to Display

Camera Raw CS5 fails to display when I attempt to open a jpg in Camera Raw or any RAW format file. The Bridge locks up, and when I run the task manager in Windows 7 (64-bit) and force close the Bridge, an icon for Camera Raw shows up in the task manager window and says Camera Raw is Running.
Thanks for any assistance.
Bill

Michi555555 I would recommend reviewing the installation log files for the Camera RAW update which is failing to apply.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cs5-cs5.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors to this discussion.

  • Viewing CMYK in Adobe Camera Raw CS5

It would save me a great deal of time to be able to view images in CMYK while processing in Camera Raw CS5.
Currently I do this in Photoshop CS5 after completing my Camera Raw corrections.
    Any comments would be appreciated,......
Would be a nice addition to the upcomming Photoshop CS6
Thank you to all who reply

Ain't gonna happen until ACR can actually save out to a specified CMYK profile. That's the ONLY way ACR could give an accurate readout of the CMYK numbers...also, if you want to delve deeper into ACR, there's a foum for that...

  • Camera raw cs5.5 in windows vista 32 bit

I have to install Photoshop again. Version is CS5.5 on a windows vista 32 bit system. It did what it needed to do. Photoshop runs, Bridge runs. That is all I need. However it installed only camera raw 6.0 something. For my files I need at least camera raw 6.3 or newer. Installation however fails. If I try it alone, it says it needs the application manager, if I install the application mnager, it says everything is up to date (which it is not) and if I try to install camera raw, the application manager window pops open, says it is broken and needs to be updated or reinstalled.
True, dng converter works, however it is slower than needed, and I would prefer to get it working right. Any suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Camera Raw icons don't display as thumbnails

New Canon T3i; I download files from camera to folder; the display as generic icon "CR2" in big blue letters, file is a page with camera lens staring at me. Previous camera Canon G11 worked fine; that is, transfer pics from camera, and without any processing the file icons display as thumbnails, if I have the View settings correct. Apple says its Canon's EOS Utility, not creating the thumbnail, whereas its CameraWindow for my G11 did. But; I was able to also transfer files from Camera to a folder via Adobe Bridge CS5, and it too didnt create thumbnails. So I'm ruling out Canon's file transfer software somewhat.
Canon says it's Apple, they need to update their OS. I pointed out that their Camera Raw Updater is only for Aperture & Iphoto and wont install any codec or driver specific to the OS. I can open the Raw files fine with Photoshop or Bridge CS5, and if I save file as a PSD, Tiff, or Jpeg, the Icon displays as a thumbnail. But I shouldnt have to process the files to display the icon as a thumbnail; if my G11 an do it, then a better camera ought to be able to do it too.
So who's not allowing the display of file thumbnails; Apple or Canon ?

    Jim + Jeff,
Thanks for the clarification. I know that in Bridge you can choose to sort files by pretty much whatever you want. It just seemed odd that if you just open files directly in PS (as far as I can tell) there's no way to adjust the order in which they display.
Oh well, if Bridge is the answer, then Bridge is the answer.
    Thanks.

  • Camera Raw & CS5

Good Afternoon.  I have both Photoshop CS4 (disc) and CS5 (download).  Camera Raw worked fine with both versions.  Then, my hard drive failed.  Both versions seem to have been loaded and downloaded to my new hard drive just fine, but I can't open any raw files with CS5.  CS4 works fine.  Any thoughts/suggestions on how I get the Camera Raw plug-in into CS5?  Thank you in advance!

I think the problem is that when I downloaded CS5 to my new hard drive the Camera Raw plug-in did not download and install.  So, when I download the latest version of Camera Raw, which is 6.7 and is an "update", the update fails because it's trying to update an older version of the plug-in.  I can't find an original CS5 download to install.  Any thoughts are most appreciated!

  • How to best open a 35 mm slide RAW scan with 4000 dpi in Camera RAW CS5?

I have, at present, set Camera Raw to open files as ProPhoto RGB and as 360 dpi. I want to keep all options open for later use of the files (for albums or enlargements). How do I get the best results so that I do not diminish the quality obtained in the scanning process (where I try to use only ICE and to leave all other editing to PS later - I know that the changes made by ICE are permanent so that I already here do not have a real RAW - but it is my impression that the choice of RAW over TIFF in the scanning is still worth it).
I have also some older scans but these are TIFF's, also 4000 dpi but only 8 bit. I want to get the best result from both types of files.
I plan to perform all edits before I finally save files in various print sizes. I am still quite scared as to make mistakes when resizing so that I get an inferior quality in the new size.  I, of course, keep a copy of the original scans safe and unedited.
I am also in doubt as to wether I should go directly into PS or via Camera Raw with the scans.
Excuse these foolish questions from a grandmother who is a complete newbie as to film scanning and still quite "green" as to PS.

Thank you. So far I have not scanned as RAW files but felt persuaded that I should choose that format. Especially after having read the arguments in Sascha Steihoffs "Scanning Negatives and slides".
I went back and found a new edition of the book where it has been added that in PS (the book is from 2009 and refers to CS3) ACR cannot open the scanned nef's, only nef files from a camera. It seems that you have to use Nikons own editing software for opening these files. I tried to ask Nikon if the scanned nef's could be opened in the latest editions of PS but got the answer that they "did not know".
So I have probably to stick to the tif's. Pity! Unless CS5 or 6 can open them of course. I wish I could get an answer from Adobe concerning that. They should be interested in encouraging people to use their software instead of Nikon software.
I probably should still give it try but that would probably mean that I should do it without the ICE in the hardware to get a real nef RAW (or maybe it still is not a real RAW).

  • Camera raw update fails in Photoshop Elements 9.0.3

    Hi.
Installing OEM software with a neu printer update camea raw fails. How do I fix it?

You will need to check with your hardware manufacturer but I don’t think pre-installed software can be updated. You could consider:
    (1) Upgrade to PSE 10 or the forthcoming PSE11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your original raw’s as backups and for use in the camera manufacturers software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.1
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.1
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

  • Is there a compatibility issue between Adobe Camera Raw, CS5, and Windows 8.1?

I have a new computer with Windows 8.1.  I installed Photoshop CS5 (which runs fine under Windows 7) but now after editing images in camera raw and clicking on the Open Images button, it takes several attempts to pass the images on to open in Photoshop CS5.  Is there a fix for this compatibility problem?

Many thanks Catherina for your reply.
Actually I have now discovered the cause of the problem. My speakers are Boston Acoustics BA735 digital speakers. I discovered that there was an Analog out put from the sound card and by changing the speaker connections they are now working albeit in Analog whereas previously they were connected Digitally.
The new drivers supplied by Microsoft have obviously switched the output to analog.
Are there any Drivers available which would allow me to revert to normal digital working.
    Thanks again

  • PS CS2 Camera Raw files don't display in numerical order - is there a fix?

If I select a number of .NEF files in the finder and double click on them or drag them onto the PS CS2 icon, when the preview images are displayed vertically along the left side of the Camera Raw window, they're not in numerical order. That is, if the files were 001.NEF, 002.NEF, 003.NEF, etc... though 50, the order might be: 10, 5, 24, 43, 12...
It makes it difficult to choose between multiple versions of the same subject when they're not right next to each other. It's not the end of the world, but it is a little obnoxious. I haven't been able to find any preference or option to change this... is there anything I'm missing? Does anyone else get this?
    I'm on a Mac G5 running 10.4.11 and CS2.
    Thanks for any help,

  • Camera Raw/CS5/Canon70

I just bought Canon 70D and have PS CS5 and I cannot open raw files. I cannot find an update plug in unless I have CS6 or light room.  Am I stuck?

  • Camera raw update failed

I just got a new Canon 6d and shot in RAW. The raw files won't preview or open in Bridge and Photoshop CS6 (I am running it on Vista). I looked into the problem and realized I needed to update Camera Raw since I was running 7.0. So I went in Bridge and did Help > Updates and updated Camera Raw as well as Bridge and Photoshop. Adobe Applications Manager said the update was successful, but when I opened Bridge up again it still is using Camera Raw 7.0 and I still can't see my files.
I tried updating Adobe Applications Manager just in case that was the problem, but that didn't solve anything. Anytime I open AAM it doesn't say there are any new updates even though Bridge is still running Camera Raw 7.0. I tired manually updating Camera Raw with what I presume is the 8.3 update in the Files Format folder with the Camera Raw.8bi file (because I know 8.4 won't work on Vista).  Yet Still when I open up Photoshop or Bridge Camera Raw is still at 7.0.
I am very frustrated since I have 1200 wedding photos to churn out and have already wasted 3 hours looking into and trouble shooting different problems. I would greatly appreciate any help to solve this problem as quickly as possible because right now I am at loose ends on what to do to solve it myself.

Thank you for the quick response KGLAD Although the link you provided did not help me directly I am sure it will help someone else. I was doing a bit more research and this post is what helped me resolve my issue. Hopefully it helps anyone else out there who might have the same issue.

  • Leica M9 and Aperture3 not showing camera aperture setting when import DNG files.  Shutter speed and ISO are indicated, but not aperture.  When I export and open in Adobe Camera Raw aperture setting is displayed.

Does any one have a suggestion as to how to get A3 to show the camera aperture setting on Leica M9 DNG files?

You will want to read this thread in its entirety.
The short story (as I understand it) is that the M9 body receives no information about aperture from attached lenses.  It is able to derive an estimate of the aperture, though, and it lists this derived number in the metadata field "Approximate F-stop" (not the exact field name).  Aperture (the program) does not report the contents of this proprietary field.

  • DNGs produced from Hasselblad .fff files display a different image in Bridge and Camera Raw

Lately, not sure when this started exactly, Bridge CC (and Camera RAW 8.7) are displaying incorrect DNG images!  Instead of showing the image I expect to see, I'll see an old image from days ago.  This seems to carry on from Bridge through to Camera RAW.  But then if I continue on to Photoshop with the image, it'll finally show the correct image.
I'm assuming this has something to do with DNG, because if I load another raw file type (like .fff or .NEF), it seems ok.  Also it seems to be ok with DNGs produced from other cameras like Nikon D90.
    My set up:
    - Mac OS X 10.9.5 (Mavericks)
    - Bridge CC
    - Camera Raw 8.7
    - Photoshop CC 2014
    - Hasselblad H4D-50

HI, I managed to fix the trouble by reinsatalling once again and running updates BEFORE opening bridge. It seemed that if I ran the update AFTER opening bridge I would get either an up to date status when checking for updates or I would get an install failure notice on all 4 updates that were trying to install. The updates were for camera raw, bridge and PS. I can't explain why but that helped a little. I also changed permissions on my whole user accnt to include read/write for all users. I can't say if this helped or not. I also had to go into my camera B/U files on a sepate HD and replace some of the CR folders I was using o nthe desktop. Still the CR files would not show a thumb nor a preview till I then went to each individual file inside that folder and purged the cashe for that file so it could repopulate the cashe yet again. This has been the strangest few days in PSCS6 history! Well my personal history. I will report back here if more quirks emerge. I would prefer quarks though....aloha, U

  • Camera connector to load photos on iPad - will they display camera RAW file

If I use the camera connector to load photos to an iPad, will files in camera RAW format (Nikon .NEF) display?

When you import an image, may it be RAW or JPG it will create an optimized JPG version that it will display in the Photos app. When you sync to the computer it will copy the real RAW or JPG images over instead. This preserves EXIF data of the images as well. Some apps allow you to access the full sized RAW or JPG to upload or edit. One that I know works is FTP-on-the-Go, it will allow you to view and upload the full sized images to an FTP server and preserve the EXIF data there as well.
