Can a Multistate display text in lieu of a graphic

I'm connecting to a N register in an Allen Bradley PLC through a symbolic link (Client-Server setup). I need to display different text messages based on the values 0, 1, 2, 4 of the N register (N7:5_0, N7:5_1, N7:5_2, N7:5_3 respectively) A Multistate would probably work but I need text and not graphics. What can I do other than make text graphics or how to write a text choose expression using values 0,1,2,4

If you don't want to use an IF statement, you can just create several logical expressions, and use the text option.
So, let's start off with creting a logical expression that displays text. I am sure we all can create an expression that will display the text.
Go to menu item Insert/Expression, put in your address in the yellow box. Set the Display Type pulldown selector to Logical. We now get the Display Logical Signal dialog box. Select the bottom radio button next to Text. Here we can put text in our "on" state, and in our "off" state.
However this is where the trick comes in. Select 'Background Style' Transparent. And only type in the text you want in the 'On' value. Click OK, you now have your object on the panel, however you might not be able to see it (it will be selected though). Make it the size you want, and position it where you want it. Now Shift Click and drag off the object, and put it right back on top. You now have 2 objects on top of each other, and they are the same, Change one of them to the new address, and change it's 'On' text value to be what you want it to say. You can keep doing this to build up your text messages on top of each other, and only the object that is 'On' will have it's text displayed. You need to be sure that only 1(one) of your addresses can be on at a time, or 2 messages will be showing up on top of each other. If you want to have a text plate around this object, to make it look better, create a blank text object, and set this down first, and then create your objects on top of it, Or you could create it last, and move it to the back. I would suggest that after you get it looking the way you want, you 'Group' it so it 'holds' together for easy movement.

10.5.3: Preview can't display text on saved PDFs...?

I have lots of credit card/bank statements which I've downloaded as (not 'printed as') PDFs... now since 10.5.3 when I open them Preview can't read the text- it displays logos and layout but no text... taking the documents over to my laptop running 10.5.2 they display perfectly...
...anyone else had this? Or have an idea about how to solve it?
(I did my first 10.5.3 update via Software Update- when I found this problem I downloaded the 10.5.3 dmg from the Apple website, and ran that... and still have the problem...)
This is on a late 2007 iMac...

I didn't fill out the text. The text was there when I first downloaded the documents- and is still readable on my other computer. They just come up blank...
Actually to test, I just downloaded Adobe Reader- which displays them perfectly... but Preview still displays them blank...?

Displaying text more than 256 in ALV report

I'm using CL_SALV_TABLE for displaying alv.while concatenating my internal table holding all the text.but at the time of displying the report it's only displaying 256 characters.

Xclock Error: Can't open display: - after upgrading to openSSH 5.2p1

I have got two servers apssvrX and apssvrZ on OEL. Both were built by the same team using their standard build scripts.
Having received the servers I had installed Oracle (ODI) product on it successfully.
Then as a part of requirement and as per Oracle support's advise, I had upgraded the ssh version on apssvrX server from OpenSSH_4.3p2 To OpenSSH_5.2p1, so that, I can implement the chroot jailing.
As per Oracle advise, I had downloaded the 3 RPMs from "_http://layer1.rack911.com/openssh/rhel5/x86_64/" to run them on my first server i.e., apssvrX and then configured the sshd services following the below steps:
a) Modify /etc/ssh/sshd_config to comment the below line:
#Subsystem sftp /usr/libexec/openssh/sftp-server
b) Add below lines:
Subsystem sftp internal-sftp
Match Group sftponly
ChrootDirectory %h
X11Forwarding no
AllowTcpForwarding no
ForceCommand internal-sftp

My problems started from this point onwards. I want to install another Oracle product using OUI, but when I try to execute xclock using the Exceed HummingBird tool on apssvrX server then it fails with the error - (xclock) Error: Can't open display:
I tried the DISPLAY variable setup as well but to no use.
Whereas I can successfully execute the xclock on apssvrZ and OUI as well. Its config details are as below:

every time we export the apex application from developement instance and import in production instance . after imported into production * we got JUNK TEXT like "TEXT:TEXT" in apex front end* so how can i remove JUNK TEXT from APEX

Hi,
It is not clear what you are seeing here. Also we don't know how you have integrated Apex with EBS. My guess is you have linked an Apex page to the EBS menu and when you click on the menu link you see the additional text on the Apex page.
You need to give details of how you have integrated Apex with EBS and where and when this additional text is being displayed for me to give you any help on this issue.

i want to create a pre calculation(contribution accounting) for Materials in BI-Integrated Planning. These Materials aren't in the master data. So I create a new Info Object for pre calculated materials with only a material-number as key and a text-description.
Now I want to write a Exit-Function, which creates new materials in these Info Object. The user should start this function in a planning application in BexAnalyzer. There the user should have the possibility to enter a text-description for the new material. How can I create such a Text-Field in BexAnalyzer and how can I read this text filed in a planning function (exit).

Hi Jürgen,
you can create a parameter for this in the exit function and a variable for the parameter. In BEx Analyzer then create a button for the planning function; in the button parameterization use VAR_NAME = , i.e. use an Excel formula here to get the value from an Excel input field.
The command range should be some 'hidden area' in your Excel sheet.
But may be you don't need this. Use a characteristic without master data. Then ensure that that the query uses the option 'key' as display. In new lines you can then enter the key, the system creates a SID on the fly (but the text table will not be updated). In this scenario you may take text also from the key. May be you can update the text table (online or in batch) by simply using function modules from function group RSNDI_MD (not released by SAP).
But observere that the system in BI Planning reads only the active version, i.e. if you change something on the fly the changes may not be visible.

All newScale text is customizable. Follow the procedure below to change the value of any text string that appears in RequestCenter online pages.
Procedure
1. Find out the String ID of the text string you would like to overwrite by turning on the String ID display:
a) Navigate to the RequestCenter.ear/config directory.
b) Open the newscale.properties file and add the following name-value pair at the end of the file:res.format=2
c) Save the file.
d) Repeat steps b and c for the RmiConfig.prop and RequestCenter.prop files.
e) Stop and restart the RequestCenter service.
f) Log in to RequestCenter and browse to the page that has the text you want to overwrite. In front of the text you will now see the String ID.
g) Note down the String ID's you want to change.
2. Navigate to the directory: /RequestCenter.ear/RequestCenter.war/WEB-INF/classes/com/newscale/bfw.
3. Create the following sub-directory: res/resources

I've recently come across this information and it was very helpful in changing some of the inline text.
However, one place that seemed out of reach with this method was the three main buttons on an "Order" page. Specifically the "Add & Review Order" button was confusing some of our users.

When I click on - View - Page Source, I want to edit with NotePad - note just display text in fancy colors

I like to edit my web pages easily,
- click to see html, edit it, (file name already there), save it
- hit restore on browser - see what I did -
Just changed from IE
which gave me NotePad, which is just fine for me
Just changed to FireFox
and it displays text in a non-editor,
can't edit and save easily
What to do??
Even worst - after installing FireFox
IE no longer clicks to NotePad
but that fancy non-editor :-(((

X11 remote app and XQuartz and xterm Xt error: Can't open display: %s

I have Snow Leopard (10.8.4) and XQuartz on it I need to run X11 remote app on redhat.
On local host echo $DISPLAY shows /tmp/launch-d33HNb/org.macosforge.xquartz:0
When i do ssh -X (or -Y) [email protected] and try to run xterm i got:

xterm: DISPLAY is not set
the sshd_config on remote host has

I have a query (BI 7) that displays runtimes of BI applications (generated from technical content -0TCT_MC01 multiprovider).
In the rows there is 0TCTBIOTYPE (type of BI application) which usually displays texts as below:

I would like to show in the report the symbol (image) instead of the key/text of this infoobject.
Any idea?

Nice requirement.
Not sure 100% but from my memory i guess we can display the image for characteristic, instead of text or key by using Analysis web item Using parameter modification in WAD .
Kindly check for Modifcation parameter Display image Module (com.sap.ip.bi.*.Documentcontent) in WAD, it might solve your purpose.

How to display TEXT more than 500 char in a report as multiple lines.

Hi Friends,
i have a requirement like i should display Texts of length more than 500 Characters in a report( ALV LIST) as multiple lines
I am fetching the data Using FM READ_TEXT
the output im currently geeting with 150 Char in lenth as a single line
How we can split the text into multiple lines in a report
first i would like to know is it possible? if possible please give your valuable suggitions if not is there any alternative way to do this task.

Hi,
This is possible but the Solution might not look Standard/Appropriate to you.
In ALV, you can have Multiple Line Output...There is a Field in the Field Catalogue..called as Row_position...this is by default 0...which means Single row/Line ALV output....You can have this Value in the Range of 0 to 3.......A ALV field with row_position 1, will be displayed in the second line for every record...i.e. you will have multiple line for a single record of ALV.
In your case......you can use this but you need to split your field in two fields.....but you may end up spliting a single word....but for that also you can design the logic of splitting the Fiel value at SPACE only......

Need to display TEXT in web selection screen

HI All,
We are working on CRM-BW modeling. We have one field called "product" which will have key and medium text. We need to display both key + text in web reporting selection screen. When we ran first time text was not showing in web report. Then we found and change the configuration in search help in SE11 for that field. Then we can see the text+key combination in RSRT but still we can't see the text in web report selection screen...
Now what we have to do to display text in selection screen on web...
Please give your inputs ASAP.....we are in UAT phase....

For you case: Display key & text in selection screen.
In BW,
You can go to query designer, then you'll go to the info-object belong to the variable (selection-screen : product). Right-click, find for the properties, Then you'll see the option for <b>display as</b>.
Choose it for Key and text.
Then save it.
Go to the report, in the selection screen, when you're choosing for the help, you'll see the value displayed by key & text.
