Can Album Names/Titles Be Changed?

trying to avoid the LONG list of albums beginning with "The"
Vaio   Windows XP

yes, of course: select all the tracks of each album you want to take the "the" off of (one album at a time) right click>get info. you may be asked if you want to edit multiple items. hit yes. then, where it says the album name, you can delete the "the". hit ok.
however, there is no way to change all of them at the same time, only one album at a time.
i believe in windows media player, it automatically ignores "the"'s in album names and alphabetically sorts by the second word instead. i am not suggesting you switch, but pointing this out as more of a feature request to apple.

  • Sometimes album name will not change...

Sometimes when I am trying to change and album name (and I have say 10 albums) it will not change, remains "My Albums 6" ???

I tried that, and a couple other click here, click there... nothing? I had done about 5 successfully. Then would have to try over and over for the next few, and finally they changed too. Now I am still left with the last 2 albums... still saying, ablum#...:( I donno, gonna give up for now I guess.

  • How can I change the year of an album in itunes11 without changing the years of all titles?

How can I change the year of an album in itunes11 without changing the years of all titles. For example: the reissues of an 1982 album has a 1995 bonus track, but I want it to be sorted as an '82 album? In earlier versions, when itunes sorted my album "by year", it took the year of the first title as the album's year (which makes a lot of sense). In itunes 11, however, the /highest/ year of any title in an album is taken to be the album's year. This upsets my entire catalogue. Can this be changed, will this be changed?

  • Just updated to itunes 12.1.0.71 - big problem - can no longer access the legacy "Get Info" where you could change multiple files, easily add artwork, add album name for TV show, and much more. In previous iTunes 12 you'd right click

Just updated to itunes 12.1.0.71 - big problem - can no longer access the legacy "Get Info" where you could change multiple files, easily add artwork, add album name for TV show, and much more. In previous iTunes 12 you'd right click and hold shift key and be able to get to it. Anyone figured this out?

The "legacy" metadata editors, for which there was a "back door" in iTunes 12.0, have gone from 12.1.  However, the revised editors in 12.1 provide access to (almost) all the metadata elements that were available in iTunes 11, albeit in a different layout and with some additional constraints based on media kind.  Some users have / will have an issue with the statement that "Get Info has been completely redesigned in iTunes 12 to focus your attention only on what’s necessary for the selected item" since that removes some metadata elements that people may have been using in creative ways.  iTunes 12.1 basically gives you access to the fields that Apple think are necessary ... .  Some of the things that have been excluded by this rule:
track and disc number fields for video media kinds
show and episode fields for music
description tab for audiobooks made up of more than one file
Obviously the first two examples can be regarded as "overloading" the metadata elements - i.e., using them in ways that the designers didn't intend - but given that some users do find valid cases for this it's a shame that they've been deprecated in the new UI.  There are couple of workarounds:
in songs view (or any of the other columnar views), you can still select any fields to display, independent of media kind, and these can be edited (though only one at a time) by double-clicking in the relevant "cell"
you can (temporarily) change the media kind of an item (or group of items) to get access to metadata elements that would otherwise be inaccessible.
It may be worth submitting an issue via https://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html - I can't see it as a huge development task to have a user preference to switch between "show all fields" and "filter fields based on media kind".
One other oddity/irritation is that some of the tabs don't, by default, show all the available fields - you need to scroll up/down to access them or to expand the window by dragging on one of its corners.  Fortunately, the latter seems to be persistent - once you've done this to make all the fields visible the editor will open at the same (larger) size when opened again.

  • How do I change my iTunes library from albums listing alphabetically back to artist listing alphabetically.  Before the last update to iTunes, everything was listed by artist, now it all is listed by album name.  I can't find a way to return it to artist

Before the latest update to iTunes, everything was listed by artist.  All albums by the same artist were listed together.  Now they are all separated by the name of the album instead of the artist.  How do I return to the other format?

Are you viewing it in Artist view or Album view? In Album view, it should still list albums by artist name, then album name. If you're in Album view, you might be looking for Artist view.

  • How do I change artwork and album name for a playlist?

I can't figure out how to do this:
I like to make cd-length playlists (essentially "mix cds") with songs that I own. I make new artwork for the mix cd, and for categorization, I like to change the Album Name and Album Artist to whatever I've named the mix (i.e., "songs about trains").
However, if I do this, the individual songs no longer appear with their original albums, since I've changed the info on them.
So essentially what I want to do is make a copy of the songs. I don't mind if they take up extra space on my hd. How do I do this easily?
I know I can just burn the cd and rip it, but then I have to rename every single song, which is a pain.
Is there an easier way? I imagine many other people like to make mix cds like me...
    Thanks.

The reason I need to change the file name is we want the breadcrumbing name to change and the breadcrumbing is linked to the file name.
I don't understand this reason. How would changing the file extension solve your breadcrumb issue? Why don't you explain the issue in more detail.

  • Changing ipod album name display

On itunes on my computer I can personalize how information is displayed. . If I'm clicked on a folder, I can click "View" and then "View Options" and display or hide any info that I want.
But I don't see these kinds of options for my ipod. . Specifically, I would like to see the album name before I begin playing a song and bring up the song playing screen. . I only see the album name on the current song playing screen. . If I Menu back to check out what I want to listen to next, I can never see the album name. . I can only see the song name and artist name.
Can I change how my ipod displays the information that it has so that it displays the album name within the playlist BEFORE I select a song to play ?

If I Menu back to check out what I want to listen to next, I can never see the album name. . I can only see the song name and artist name.
It all depends how you got to the song playing.
Go to Music -> Albums and it will do what you want.

  • Can you track a form if the file name has been changed after distribution?

I created a form in Adobe Acrobat X Pro -- I then used the distribute feature and sent the form to myself using the internal server. After testing the form, and making sure all was good, I copied the attachment from the email I received when I distributed the form to myself, and sent it to my boss (via outlook). He then changed the file name, and sent the form out to our members. Our members are completing this newly-changed document instead of the original form. They are able to "Submit The Form", and it still looks as though its coming back to me via the dialogue box. However, I have no received any responses in my original document's tracking. When I tried submitting this new form myself to see what happened, I just received an message that says "Your response is being queued for submission", but it never tells you whether the form was actually submitted or not. Is there any way that you can track this form even though the file name has been changed? And if people are submitting their forms to me, where are they going?
    Please help!
    thanks,
    desiree

I understand that you don't want to redo all the linking with the markers. You can try following (make a copy of your project first to be safe) :
    - close your project and quit DVDSP
    - move your old asset, and replace it with the new one
    - reopen your project
A warning message should tell you that this asset has changed, but your marker will remain at old position. If the asset length are not the same, old length information will be used by DVDSP. To correct this, delete the asset from the timeline, and drop it back to the timeline.
Now you just have to move the marker to the right position.

  • How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name, and no trash can icon appears below most of the pictures the computer just put on my new iPhone 4.

How do I delete photos and photo albums from my iPhone 4? The instructions given do not work. No "delete" symbol appears next to the album name when I press "Edit," and no trash can icon for me to click appears below most of the individual photos in the albums the computer just loaded on my new iPhone 4. When I synced the new phone the computer added these photo albums without permission from me. They are now taking up about 3 GB of memory on my phone. I would like very much to get rid of these photos from the phone. How do I do this?

To delete photos from your device
In iTunes, select the device icon in the Devices list on the left. Click the Photos tab in the resulting window.
    Choose "Sync photos from."
On a Mac, choose iPhoto or Aperture from the pop-up menu.
On a Windows PC, choose Photoshop Album or Photoshop Elements from the pop-up menu.
Choose "Selected albums" and deselect the albums or collections you want to delete.
    Click Apply.

  • Itunes can no longer find artist or album name

I have not seen this exact problem on the forum. I upgraded itunes yesterday to 10 and then when I synced my ipod touch, almost all of the artist names and album names disappeared. I tried several times to get info and this retrieved some of the information but now it says that it can't get the track information for music not purchased from the itunes store or ripped through itunes. The problem is that all of my music was either purchased from itunes or ripped through itunes except one album. Does anyone have this same problem or can anyone tell me how to fix it?

Locate and remove the iPod Photo Cache folder(s). A new one will be recreated the next time you sync Photos with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod. Deleting this folder will not remove the original images from your library, but may solve your sync problem.

Framemaker uses <$filename> for short file name, can we edit this to change appearance? We do not want the short file name of long filename to include the .fm extension can this be removed or modified to make this happen? In compiling our books it would be helpful to not have this extension appear as it then requires us to create extra files without them.

  • Can't update album name

Since I've upgraded to itunes 11, I can't seem to update the album names.  I've right clicked on an album, clicked on Get Info, clicked yes to apply to all songs, updated the album name, then synched my ipod.  The album name updates in itunes but doesn't transfer over to my ipod.  What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks

  • Artist name/album name changes made in itunes not showing up on my iphone4S

I added some songs to my iphone and I changed some of the songs' artist names in itunes. However, the changes that I made in itunes are not showing up on the iphone. Changes to album names are also not showing up. But album art does show up on my iphone. I've tried converting id3 tags and I've tried resetting the phone but nothing has worked. Does anybody know what is wrong and how to fix it?? Thanks.

    Haven't had the problem.
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
