Can an image button make an alert box popup?

So, my first question is: Can a SAVE button that has a button style of IMAGE trigger an alert box to popup?
If yes, then I have a second question: If I am suppose to use the ONCLICK event, where do I put this code for this type of button? The BUTTON ATTRIBUTES field is greyed out.
Thank you,
Maggie

Maggie:
You could try the following
On the 'Edit Button' page
Set the Target of the button to be URL
Set the URL Target to be
javascript:alert('My message');doSubmit('<button name>')varad

  • Can someome help me make these text boxes expandable?

    hello,
    I can not seem to figure out how to make the text boxes on the 2nd page of this 2 page document.  Could someone do that for me?
    Thanks

    Two issues .....
    1. The form must be saved as a dynamic Form. Under the SaveAs menu make sure that you choose a type of Dynamic PDF.
    2. The root subform for Page 2 must be set to flowed. Once that is done everything will shift to the left. On the subform object in the layout tab you can set a .25 in margin to put the object back where they were.

  • Make an alert box at the beginning of every month

    I'm writing a budgeting tool and at midnight at the beginning of every month I want to pop up an alert saying it is the start of a new month and enable a button in jsp.
    I have tried a couple ways to do this. First I wanted to keep creating a calendar and check if the date was 1. But then this would be much more work than is needed.
    Next I tried to use the TimerTask class and set a boolean to true at the first of every month, but then I couldn't figure out how to make the javascript run when the run method of that thread executes. I tried using a while loop in the jsp page itself to check the boolean but this just caused the page to hang.
    A third idea I was trying is to have an invisble form with a hidden field using this boolean. I was trying to figure out a way to use onChange to trigger the javascript, but this would only work for some sort of visible input.
    Anyone have any exprience on scheduling a task like this at the beginning of every month or about how to force a page to reload at a specific time? Thanks.

    You could even put that in a frame with a form to navigate a seperate frame:
    //frameset
    <html>
    <frameset frameborder="0" framespacing="0" rows="26px,*">
    <frame scrolling="no" frameborder="0" marginheight="0"
        marginwidth="0" name="frameA" noresize src="testingB.jsp" />
    <frame scrolling="no" frameborder="0" marginheight="0"
        marginwidth="0" name="frameB" noresize src="http://www.google.com" />
    </frameset>
    </html>
    //then your time-important page (called testingB above)
    <html>
    <body>
        <script type="text/javascript">
            function navigate() {
              var navigateTo = document.forms[0].address.value;
              if (navigateTo.toLowerCase().indexOf("http://" == -1)) {
                  navigateTo = "http://"+navigateTo;
              parent.frameB.location.href = navigateTo;
              return false;
            function doAlert() {
                alert("Time to do Something");
                window.location.reload(); //so it will happen again next month.
    <%
        //When first created, the calendar points to now.
        Calendar cal = Calendar.getInstance();
        long curTime = cal.getTimeInMillis();
        //then, lets set it to the 1st day of the month, at 00:00:01.00 (1 second after midnight
        cal.set(Calendar.DAY_OF_MONTH, 1);
        cal.set(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY, 0);
        cal.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 0);
        cal.set(Calendar.SECOND, 1);
        cal.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0);
        //finally, add a month to get the first second of next month
        cal.add(Calendar.Month, 1);
        long triggerTime = cal.getTimeInMillis();
    %>
            //set the doAlert to occur after the # of milliseconds between now and
    next month.
            setTimeout("doAlert()", <%= (triggerTime - curTime) %>);
        </script>
        //form will read address you type in input, and navigate the other frame there.
        <form onSubmit="navigate();" name="nav">
          <input type="text" name="address" size="100" style="margin:3px" />
          <input type="submit" name="Go" value="Go" style="margin:3px" />

  • Alert Box question

    Is it possible to add a button to an Alert box's title bar or at least make it respond to a click?
    Thanks

    Here is some fragments of code I got so far:

        import flash.utils.describeType;
        import mx.containers.VBox;
        import mx.controls.Alert;

            private var _titleSparkBtn:TitleWindowCloseButtonSkin=new TitleWindowCloseButtonSkin();
            public function AlertEx()
                super();
                this.addEventListener("click", onClick);
                this.text = "Test";
                this.title = "Error";
            override protected function createChildren():void
                super.createChildren();
                _titleSparkBtn.addEventListener("click", onClick);
                titleBar.addChild(_titleSparkBtn);
            private function onClick(event:MouseEvent):void
                trace(event.target);
            override protected function updateDisplayList (unscaledWidth:Number, unscaledHeight:Number):void{
                super.updateDisplayList(unscaledWidth, unscaledHeight);
                _titleBtn.move(100, 2);
    The result basically looks like this:
    While I do have a close button here but I can't find a way of positioning it to the right corner. Any idea?
    Thanks

  • Finding hidden dialog boxes (aka alert boxes)

    (note: most commonly the issue I describe below happens when the coding application CODA looses contact with one of my servers and an alert box informs me of this. I cannot continue using CODA until I click ok in the dialogue.)
    I use spaces a lot but when one of the applications I am using throws an alert while I am in a different "space" the alert ends up behind other windows that I am currently viewing (like Firefox or finder). Normally expose would make it easy for me to find these dialogue boxes, but it seems that not all modal windows appear when using expose. I thought that making the application responsible for the dialogue box active might bring the alert to the foreground but that is not true either. I have resorted to going space-by-space and moving windows out of the way until I find the alert box - highly annoying and time consuming.
    Is there a quick way to find these alert boxes and/or restrict them to the space that the parent application is living in? Anything to make this less tedious?

    @baltwo ... my question is not about why I am getting the alert (I know why and it happens at appropriate times (ex. when I have no internet connection)) but rather how can I more easily find the alert box when it does appear. It's terrible to go space-by-space moving windows around just to find a dialogue box...

  • Customizing Alert Boxes

    Hi Experts,
    Currently we have an option, were in a message will pop up every 20 minutes in an application.
    and we used java scripting for this.
    But, now our customer wants to change the symbol in the alert message.
    This is the sample code of how i am currently wrking out the same using javascripts.
    < s c r i p t  l a n g u a g e = " J a v a s c r i p t " >
      v a r   w a i t  =  1200;
      v a r   l v _ c n t  =  1;
      v a r   s t o p ;
      f u n c t i o n  s t a r t C l o c k ( )
         w a i t  = w a i t  - l v _ c n t ;
         s t o p  = s e t T i m e o u t ( " s t a r t C l o c k ( ) " ,   1 0 0 0 );
         i f ( w a i t = = 0 )
    a l e r t ( "   H e l l o   W o r l d  " ) ;
         w a i t = 1 2 0 0 ;
        s t a r t C l o c k ( ) ;
    < / s c r i p t >
    Is der a way i can change the symbol of the alert box or do i have to go to VBscripting. If tats the only option then pls let me know which part i need to change for VBscripting..

  • How can I click on a button and make a text box appear or disappear

    How can I click on a button and make a text box appear or disappear?
    Thanks ahead of time for your help,
    Doug

    Hi Denes,
    I just thought that the example you pointed the OP to, is far more complex than what I understood he needs. The OP was talking about using a button, which I thought was a very basic and simple case. Your example is much more complicated. If memory serves, the radio group item, at the time (prior to 3.1 fieldset) behaved differently, so you needed to create a new value retrieving function, and then was the need to preserve the items show/hide status upon reloading the page. In short, I thought maybe I didn’t see the complexity in the OP post, but it seems that his requirement was indeed a simple one.

  • How can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

    When the show button is pressed (and not before), a filled black square should be
    displayed in the display area. The combo box (or drop down list) that enables the user to choose the colour of
    the displayed shape and the altering should take effect immediately.When the show button is pressed,
    the image should immediately revert to the black square, the combo box should show the value that
    correspond to the black.
    Now ,the problem is: after I pressed show button, the image is reverted to the black square,but I don't know
    how can I make the combo box turn to the value of black.

  • Message missing from alert box & Can you disable everything until user selects an answer?

    Question 1 - My alert box window is working, and the title and buttons function as they should, but does anyone know why my message is not showing up?
    Question 2 - How do you program the alert box window so that no other buttons on your application work until the user selects one of your alert window buttons? I can do this manually by setting everything to enabled = false, but I know this happens automatically every other time I've used the alert window component, but it's not working for me now.
    Question 3 - How can I prevent multiple alert windows from popping up? My alert comes up when a user clicks a button called 'Delete'. Would be solved if I had the answer to question 2.
    var myMess:String = '';
    var myTitle:String = '';
    function confirmDelete(){
        selectedAlt = list_dg.selectedItem.ALT_CODE;
        myMess = "Are you sure you want to delete this ALT code: "+selectedAlt+"?";
        myTitle = "Confirm Delete ALT Code Function                                                    ";
        var alertBox:Object = Alert.show(myMess,myTitle,Alert.YES|Alert.NO,this,deleteConfirmHandler);
        alertBox.setSize(450, 125);
    // HANDLER FOR CONFIRM DELETE ALT ALERT WINDOW
    deleteConfirmHandler = function(evt_obj:Object):Void {
        var myAnswer = evt_obj.detail;
        // returns 1 if yes, 2 if no.
        if (myAnswer == 1){
                deleteAlt();
        else {
            altDetail.moveAssign_btn.enabled       = false;
            altDetail.moveAvail_btn.enabled        = false;
            altDetail.avail_list.selectedIndex     = null;
            altDetail.assigned_list.selectedIndex  = null;

    I think you were on the right track, it did have something to do with the parent fla file. Once I complied it's parent file (and imported the window and alert classes into the parent), my message appeared in the alert box.
    It doesn't make any sense, because the component is not in the parent file, it's in the sub-parent fla file, but I guess you just have to compile all the files in the hierarchy for it to work... It also doesn't make sense why everything else worked before (the title, the yes and no buttons) except for the message.
    Thanks for the suggestion (to look at the depths, etc), however, I'm still unable to understand why the alert is not modal as it should be. If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix the buttons to make them modal, please let me know. Thanks.

  • Make a check box in LiveCycle with a personal character or image as check mark ( info to share...)

    Hello everybody,
    It makes now several weeks i go trough the different forums to find a way to make the check mark of a check box in LiveCycle with a personal color instead of the default black mark, that seems to be the only option available.
    I saw somebody else with that question, but no answer.
    So i found a work around, that make the check box really flexible.
    Here it is:
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    Open a new form in Livecycle.
    1) Open Library panel ( Shift+F12) and select Check Box and put it in the page with the dimension and position you like and select it.
    Open the Object panel ( Shift+F7), select field section and under Caption make it blank. Select Binding Section and under name write in ' CheckBox '. for the rest leave all the section values as they are.
    2) In Library select, in the standard section, the icon for making a text object. Put it in the page and size it to your needs and put it on the top of the CheckBox. Select it.
    In the Object Panel, Draw section and under Presence 'Visible'.
    Open the Font panel ( Shift+F4) and under font section, Font : select the Wingdings font and choose the symbol to use as the mark, under Size : the size you need, under Style: font color you like. If the result of the mark is to your feel, set the object to 'invisible'. Leave all other values as they are.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the static object and rename it to ' CheckMarkModel ' .
    For information : changing the text object to an image object let's you use an image for the mark in the checkbox.
    3) In Library, select in the standard section the icon for making a Button. Put it in the page and size it to the CheckBox dimension and put it on the top of the text object. Select it. In the Object panel, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : select custom in the drop down list an in the dialog box that comes up set the edges to none and the
    background to none. Leave the rest as it is.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the Button object and rename it to ' ClickCheckBoxButton ' .
    Now open the Script Editor (Shift+Ctrl+F5), on the left under Show : select in the list the ' Click ' event, under Language : select JavaScript, copy to the window the following script :
    if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "0")
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "1";
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "visible";
    else if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "1")
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "invisible";
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "0";
    4)Now put in the page an other Check Box, put it on the top of the Button object and select it. In the Object panel, Field section, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : none, under Presence : invisible, let the rest as it is. In the Value section, under Type : Read Only, under Default : Off. In the Binding section, under Name : name it CheckMarkOnOff, leave the rest as it is.
    5) So you have now four objects in the page 1. In the Hierarchy panel set each object by dragging them in
    this order :
    CheckBox
    CheckMarkModel
    ClickCheckBoxButton
    CheckMarkOnOff
    In the form select all the objects and group them. If you copy the group as many times you need you automatically will have an other Check Box, ready to work.
    So here you are with an personal Check Box.
    Don't forget to set the preview PDF to dynamic under Menu /File/Form Properties, the in the dialog box that shows up /Default tab and under the XDP Preview format : select in the list an Acrobat Dynamic form.
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    If somebody from Adobe could upload the sample file i made, to the forum, so that anybody can download it to his computer, would be appreciated, email me at : [email protected] .
    Regards Mike.

    I also faced this same problem and there is an actual solution but it involves modifying the xml source for the checkbox - however it is a simple modification so if your not familiar with editing the xml source don't worry about that. <br /><br />Click on the checkbox you want to modify and then click on the XML Source tab. LiveCycle will take you to that point in the XML. <br /><br />Now, scroll down until the close of the ui node( </ui> )within the checkbox field and modify the font node to look like the following:<br /><br /></ui>  -- close of UI node<br /><font typeface="Arial"><br />   <fill><br />      <color value="0,0,255"/><br />   </fill><br /></font><br /><br />This produces a checkbox with a blue check mark. <br />You can, of course, make the color any RGB number you want.<br /><br />You can then save that field in your library and reuse it anytime you want and it will always have that color checkmark. <br /><br />Good luck. <br />-Andrew

  • How can I make a text box in Aperture transparent??

    Hello,
    After a great trip to Thailand I want to make a book of all my pictures using Aperture 3. At some places in the book I use a title to indicate what will be shown on the image. This title is made by the text box and it is put on the image itself. Now what I would like is to make is a transparent bar of the text box, so that I still can see the details of the image through this bar and also read the text about the image easily.
    I have no problems making this text box and putting it in the right place, the thing that I don't understand, after two nights of trying, is how to make this text box transparent.
    Any help is appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

    Perhaps I need to reformulate what I exactly want to do...!
    I would like to use transparent text boxes but not as transparent as the image itself. I want to show the text box as a real bar but slightly different than the original image colour. So something between a normal image and a white bar so that it will be a bit transparent but also shown as a real bar..
    I think the text boxes of each theme are identical, so yes you are right about the transparent text boxes of art collection but they are the same as photo essay.
    Do you understand what I mean?

  • Add Image to a Conformation Dialog box button

    Hi All,
          Ho to add Image to a Conformation Dialog box button?????
    2. How to put <b>X</b> (to cancel) at right upper corner of dialog box.
    null

    Hi ,
    It would not be possible to add images in it. Use dialog boxes instead.
    Create a view ... add an image UI element ..use imgSource as ~sapicons/image name or paste the image in src/mimes/components/ur comp name and give that for source.
    You can create linktoaction.. and on its image property add an image for X and put that in one corner of the dialog box. and execute cancel action. when its clicked..

  • How can I make a text box with 2 columns?

    I can't figure out how to make a text box with two columns. I made one in pages and pasted it into iWeb but it seems to have turned it into an image when I published to a folder. I want to keep it text so the search engines will index it.
    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, David

    You will have to create two text boxes, configure them as columns and then paste into the first and cut where you want the columns to end and paste the remainder into the second column as on this page . I've tried saving a two column Word document as a web page and it just converts it to one column.

    How can I make a gray box or gray screen in Pages over a few lines of text?

    Thanks. Almost what I was looking for.
    While that makes for a gray over the lines, it still does not form a box.
    Any other suggestions to form a solid rectangular gray box?
