Can an iphone "unforget" a bluetooth device

Since I've installed the new phone OS, my 32 GB iphone (OS 4.0.1) refuses to connect to my Plantronics Discovery 975 headset. While trying to sort out the problem (which obviously hasn't been solved yet) I told my iPhone to forget the device. How can you get the phone to "unforget" the device and see my bluetooth headset?

You need to put the Plantronics back into discovery mode:

indicator flashes red/white"

  • How to "unforget" a Bluetooth device?

I set to forget a bluetooth device I was trying to pair in an effort to resolve a pairing issue I had. But when I did so, I was never able to see that bluetooth device again.
How do I unforget the bluetooth device so my iPhone can discover it once again?

When the iPhone is told to forget a device, it just clears it from the memory. Try and turn the bluetooth off on the phone and back on again. It will not "ignore" the device. One of those should do it, or a reset on the phone before trying again. I've used "forget this device" a number of times when testing particular bluetooth headsets for numerous phones. They will appear again as I stated.

I upgraded my iPhone 4S to the IOS 6.1 version yesterday.
Since then, I can't link kup to my Bose Soundlink Bluetooth speaker.  When I place them in 'discover' mode, the iPhone cannot find any bluetooth devices.
    Any ideas ?

Are you using an LTE enabled SIM? What carrier are you using?

  • How can I connect to other bluetooth devices

    Hi Folks,
Having only just become a new iphone 4s user I've now found out that my iphone will not connect to any other manufactured phones and other Bluetooth devices, is there any way around this or is it an iphone only club!!!. Many thanks in anticipation of a reply, Astonharry.

You need to go to the App stores and find compatible apps. iOS device do not natively have to ability to transfer info to a computer via BT to a computer.
With iOS 8 you can use AirDrop

  • Can WCS identify and track Bluetooth devices?

I realize the WCS can track rogue AP's, clients, RFID tags, etc... but waht about Bluetooth devices? Don't see anything documented about this.

I believe that if it could, it would only show up as a roving noise/interference source.
Bluetooth uses all / most of the same spectrum as 802.11b/g .... except it uses it by hopping across it, not staying on a single "channel" as the 802.11b/g clients do.
So, to a bandwidth monitor, it would appear as a full-spectrum noise, which (if mobile) would travel across the monitored zone.
It may be able to pinpoint the source through triangulation .... I'm not sure and haven't had much playtime on the WCS.
    Good Luck

  • I do not have volume from my iPad suddenly but I can get it through our Bluetooth device.  The lock rotation is not on.

I have suddenly lost the volume from my iPad. It works through the Bluetooth device only. I have turned off the lock rotation in settings.

The Settings > General > Use Side Switch To does not turn rotation lock nor notification mute on or off, all that setting does is say what the switch on the side of the iPad is controlling. What do you have Use Side Switch To set to ? If 'mute' then you need to slide the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume control 'off' (so it doesn't show orange) to unmute ; if you have the side switch set to control 'rotation lock' then you can mute/unmute via  Control Centre (swipe up from the bottom edge of the iPad, if the mute is  white then sounds are muted, tap it to unmute and the icon should turn grey).
If that doesn't work (and Bluetooth is off) then try a soft-reset.

  • Can you export to a Bluetooth device?

I wonder if it possible to export pictures to a mobile phone via bluetooth.

Does the Bluetooth device mount in the Finder? If not then you’ll need to export to the desktop and then move the files to the device with the BlueTooth File Exchange.

  • How do I connect my iPhone 4S to Bluetooth device in our car?

My iPhone 4swill not connect to our car's Bluetooth. We have tried all sorts of online help. Nothing works. Please help. We had no trouble doing so with our "dumb phone".

Depending on the age of your car, it might be running a version of Bluetooth that's fine with your "dumb phone" but doesn't play well with smartphones. I have a 2013 car with Bluetooth that basically knows everything on my iPhone, because the software engineers at the car company set it up that way.
Your expectation that Apple is supposed to manufacture an iPhone to work with every car and every car company's software is not reasonable. Maybe you have to take your car to the dealer to update its software so it will work with an advanced product like the iPhone.

  • Can I use to browse Bluetooth device?

    Hi There,
I would like to see if I can write something to browse a PDA and grab a file from it. Eventually I would like to be able to get a file from a number of different PDA’s with the one action. Can this be done in Automator?
    Thanks in advance
    Adrian

I don't have a PDA. How does your Mac know it's there? Can you browse it with the Finder?
If you can browse it with the Finder, you should be able to use Automator and its Finder action "Get Specified Finder Items", or "Find Finder Items", etc. Once you've setup an action (or actions) to located the files you want, you can copy them with Finder's action "Copy Finder Items". So, probably just a two action workflow.
I'm not sure if it would be PDA specific, that might depend on whether each of your PDAs connect with a unique name. Would they be connected all at the same time? If so, then they would have to have unique names, then you could probable make one huge workflow, but it would depend on having all of them attached every time you used the workflow. Probably better to have one generic workflow that you can use for any PDA, if the names aren't unique.
If the names are unique, then you might consider making a separate workflow for each one. Then, create a new workflow and add Automator's "Run Workflow" a few times to reference each of the other workflows you've saved. That action even has an "Open" button next to the pop-up menu so you can view and edit the workflow if desired. Anyways, this workflow could then be modified as needed to have just the workflows you need for whatever PDAs you might have on a consistent basis.
If all of this worked, and the PDAs were uniquely identified, but they connected inconsistently (i.e. random groups), I suppose you could complicate it by trying to make it figure out whether a certain PDA was connected when you run the workflow so it would run the workflows necessary. Hmm, well, hopefully you won't need that. Anytime you can reduce uncertainty is worth it, since it simplifies your needs.
Oh, you might consider saving a workflow as a Finder plug-in. Within Automator's File menu, choose "Save As Plug-in...", name the workflow, and make sure "Finder" is selected. That would give you access to a workflow from within Finder's contextual menu for an item you have selected, say the PDA that is mounted (if that is the way it's connected). It'll be located in the contextual menu's Automator submenu, near the bottom. The contextual menu in Finder is accessible with right-click, Control-click, or the action button (has gear on it) in a Finder window's toolbar (if customized to have it).
