Can an RS-485 Port send Data to an RS-423 Instrument?

I have an RS-423 instrument and would like to use a National Instruments RS-485 card to send data to it.  Can this be done?  Are there better National Instrument device alternatives to communicate with an RS-423 device?

probably yes for sending I don't know for receiving.
Just do not connect the - pin

  • How can I use notifications to send data from different sources to thesame chart?

    Hi,
    I am using the "Continuous Measurement and Logging" template project that ships with LV 2013.
    It is extremenly helpful for figuring out messaging between the acquire, graph, and log loops. (Thanks NI!)
    I've run into a snag however.
    I would like to modify it so that my graphing loop receives data notifications from two acquisition sources via notifiers.
    I'm having trouble getting data from both sources to display on the same chart.
    I've isolated the issue in the attached vi.
    Here's what happens:
    1. I create data from 2 parallel loops and send the data to a third parallel loop with notifiers.
    2. The third loop receives data from only one of the loops because one of the receiving notifiers just times out instead of receiving data.
    Can someone suggest how I can fix this?
    Thanks.

    Here is my modification of your VI. I put notes on the block diagram to explain the changes. It uses a queue for the data transfer to avoid loss of data. It uses a notifier to stop the loops. All local variables and Value property nodes have been eliminated.
    The way the loops are stopped will likely leave some data in the queue. No more than one or two iterations of each of the data acquisition loops. If you need to guarantee that all data has been displayed (or saved in a real application), then you need to stop the acquisition loops first and read the queue until you know it is empty and both of the other loops have stopped. Then stop the display loop and release the queue and notifier.

  • How can I use bluetooth to send data to my mac book pro?

    I can connect my smartphone (nokia) to my Mac Book Pro, but if I try to send something from Nokya to my Mac using bluetooth, that's impossible. The only way is to search what I wanto to store in my Mac, using the Mac and browse my Nokia with Finder.
    Is this correct ??
    Is the bluetooth an univesral protocol to send and receive data between two sources ???
    Why my Mac is unable to receive the data sended by another source ?? (the same question is valid using an iPhone and another smartphone to try to send/receive data).
    Many thank for your response.

    IDS (Internet Developer Suite) is a RAD tool to create database application however that totally depend upon your requirement but if u feels limitation while working on Form IDS , u can switch to Jdeveloper an open source environment but still u have option create bean in Jdeveloper as per your need and bundled it with your Forms.
    I still suggest to discuss the problems which you are facing while invoking the bean in your form so that we can guide u better.
    Finally, neither move to latest version or change your development platform just for seek of fashion
    Hope it clears now!

  • Problem in sending data to parallel port

    Hello,
    I can open a parallel port (LPT1) using java comm api i,e javax.comm.
    but problem in sending data to parallel port,
    I choose the appropriate port(LPT1), it is in bi-directional mode according to BIOS configuration.
    but according to the java program the mode is SSP.
    when i write data to parallel port the volt-meter give a reading of high state for all data pin (pin1 to 9) i,e the parallel port doesnot change state. I am using windows XP.
    What is the solution?

    try it on Open Solaris 10 or Linux platform.
    also just try using the new FileWriter("LPT1").write("Hello");
    on windows platform

  • Is it possible to create a virtual TCP port and send data to it?

    Is it possible to create a virtual TCP port and send data to it?
    My application is this:   I am reading a constant stream of waveform data from a device via a LabVIEW VI set and I need to get that streaming data to a .NET application.  I can poll a TCP port in .NET easily so is there a way I can create a virtual TCP port in LabVIEW and send the data there?

    Have a look at the example called simple data server and simple data client and see what you can get from that. I'm not really familiar with TCP myself.

  • Measure data using RS-485 Port on cFP-2120

    I have cFP-2120 with one RS-485 Port, One RS-422 and one RS-232 Port available, i want to measure data using the exisiting RS-485 Port on cFP-2120.
    I have Rx and Tx Signals from my equipment. Two wire
    Also i have RS-485 Enabled device with 4 port availble. I want to use RS-485 connected with RJ-50.
    Also give me pinouts for Rx and Tx.
    Thanks.

    I am a little confused by your statement "I have cFP-2120 with one RS-485 Port, One RS-422 and one RS-232 Port available".  The cFP-2120 has 3 RS-232 ports and only 1 RS-485  (or RS-422).
    Look in the manual for the cFP-2120.  Here is a link. http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371380b.pdf  Pages 3-7 thru 3-10 have information and pinouts for the serial ports.  It also tells how the RS-485 port is a 4-wire port, but it can connect to a 2-wire RS-485 installation with jumpers and special programming to account for the echo back of outgoing commands.  Another alternative to 4-wire to 2-wire conversion is to get an RS-485 isolator that would have switches to set one side to 4-wire and the other side to 2-wire.  I have used this one from B&B electronics successfully.  Though you say you are using 4-wire on your device, so you would not need it unless you have the need for electrical isolation between the device and your cFP.  Perhaps the discussion of 2-wire was a misunderstanding.
    Remember that the transmit lines from your device will go to the receive lines of your cFP and vice versa.  The polarity of + and - should match between the two devices.  TX+ to RX+, TX- to RX-,  RX+ to TX+,  RX- to TX-, and GND to GND)
    As for VISA, you would just configure it like you would any RS-232 device with the baud rate, parity, and stop bits to match your device.
    Centerbolt, thanks for the kind words and posting the link to the other thread.

  • How can i send data POST with a html link in a textfield

    Hello,
    This is my problem : I generate (from a php script) html

    the POST method to an other script.
    My problem is that the getURL("lien", "", "POST") function
    can be use only by a movieclip or button event ... and not from a
    html link ...
    How can i do it ?
    Have you a small idea???
    Thanks ....

    yes, thanks but now my problem is in my function associated
    to this link :
    function SendPost()
    var toto="toto";
    getURL("
    http://127.0.0.1/board/scheduledfirst.php",
    "_blank", "GET");
    The function is executed but after in php i can get anything
    with echo ($_GET["toto"]); echo ($_POST["toto"]);
    Why ?

  • How can I allow a sub-vi to run independent of the main program once it has been called while still sending data to the sub-vi

    I have a main program where I call a sub-vi. In this sub-vi, there is a while loop that is used to wait for commands in the sub-vi. While the while loop is running, I cannot continue with normal operation of the main program. I would like get the sub-vi to run independently once it has been called, but not hold up the main program. As well, I need to still be able to send data to the sub-vi

    One way is to use VI Server, which has been mentioned by others. This will allow you to start another VI (by name) and run it entirely independently of the calling VI. This is a good way to start various independent VIs from a main menu, for example. None of the VIs thus called need have any connection to the others.
    Another way it to have the SubVI in a separate while loop on the calling VI's BD. Then, use a local var to start this sub VI from the main loop. The calling VI sets a local START bit and continues running. The sub VI's while loop watches for this START bit to go true, and then runs the Sub VI. The advantage here is that one can more easily pass arguments to the SubVI when it is started, using local vars, which are preferable to globals. Once the Su
    bVI is running, however, you must use a global Stop Bit, set in the calling VI, to stop it when the calling VI exits, or the calling VI will hang up, waiting for the Sub VI to close and exit its while loop.
    If you need an example of this, email me. ([email protected]). I can also recommend Gary W. Johnson's excellent book which discusses this. ("LabVIEW Graphical Programming", 2nd Ed).
    Note: Where possible, I try to call a subvi from within the main VI, wait till it is done, then continue. It avoids the use of locals & globals, and results in cleaner code, with fewer "race" conditions. However, the main VI stops until the subVI is done, hence one should make the subVI modal.

  • How can I use LabVIEW to send the equivalent of a CTRL D (in VT 100 format) out the serial port of my computer?

    I am trying to write a vi that interfaces with a piece of OEM equipment that is set up to talk with a VT 100 terminal. I can't seem to locate the ASCII equivalent string (if there is such a thing) of a CTRL D. Is there a vi that emulates VT 100 commands?

    If I recall, CTRL-D is EOF on most ASCII tables.
    You'd probably have to use an escape sequence
    or if you can use an unsigned 8-bit that might be
    easier.

    : Configuration of FP-Modules. In the catalog is something written about sending data on data change. There is a checkbox in the FP-Explorer but I cant find a configuration menu in FP-Explorer to set the threshold value at which the data will be send.The FP-1600 modules automatically send data on-change only. The change threshold is by default 0%. Any change, even a single least significant bit change, is sent back to the computer. If the FP-1600 firmware revision supports deadbanding (firmware revision 3.0.x and later, can be downloaded from ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/fieldpoint/Update/FPEthernet0320.zip ). Then on each analog channel or count channel you can specify a percentage change for deadbanding in FieldPoint Explorer. This is done on a channel by channel basis, by right-clicking on the particular IO module and choosing Edit this Device, then choosing Channel Configuration. Each channel (if it supports deadbanding) will have a deadband entry box on the middle right side of the screen).
    The FP-1000/1001 seri
    al network modules do not support deadbanding. The checkbox in FieldPoint Explorer is simply for how FieldPoint Explorer displays the data to the user and does not effect client programs nor the behavior of the network module itself.

  • How send data to serial port from forms 6i

    How send data to serial port to activate hardware connect.
    The hardware is a drawer for cash the point of sales.

    Andres,
    I do the exact thing you are looking for,
    I spool out a text file using text_io
    the file will either contain a double ^G or an epson escape sequence, depending on the drawer type connected.
    I then copy this file to the port using a copy function id d2kwutil
    Works perfectly, but god knows how I'll do it if we want to run the point of sale over the web :)

  • How can I send data from a Comp to a Service?

    Hello!
    I have written a simple service, it works fine, i can receive data from it, but i need also to send data to the service.
    I have tried this:
    part of the code of my service:
    public void addUser(String UserName) {
                   UserList[number_user] = UserName;
                   number_user++;
    part of the code of my comp:
    IszerdService myService = (IszerdService) PortalRuntime.getRuntimeResources().getService(serviceName);
    myService.addUser("Superman");
    could you show me what is the most simple way to send data to a service, and store in the service?
    thank you all!
    Istvan

    Hi Subathra,
    > Where do u face problem? Did u get any error while
    > le passing the data to the service? What's that?
    Actually I cant deal with putting data into the String Array of my service.
    Now I have solved the problem by using HashTable instead of String[] and the .put(key, object) method works fine, the data is delivered to the service succesfully.
