Right got another couple of problems. I need to be able to display the unicode vulgar fractions. Simple you say?
No Im using a monospaced font courier and im forced into java 1.1. Now my inteended work around for this would be to actually draw a small 1 and a small 8 in the same sized grid (monospaced so i know how big each text cell should be).
Im interested in drawing the following
1/8 7/8 and a few more which are also not supported. Fine and dandy.
Now is this a good idea or is there a better way i can display 1/8 on the screen? thanks
well you can change the font size between 9 and 50 dynamically.
Could i use a 1 image fits all principle? also the colour may need changing between a range of colours.
Is this possible? any tips?

Hi! I am new bie to flex. I am using flex builder3 to stream video from a streaming server. I have to complete this project in few days.
To do that i am first of all trying to display a video from local computer. Its fairly simple to do that using video display component.
Now i was trying to do that using action script. I am having lot of queries regarding that:
1) Whenenever i try to make a separate action file, even a simple example as hello world: compiler shows an error message that "Packages cannot be nested". What do v mean by this error, and how can i remove this error.? the code i write is for eg.

Such a simple code also give above error.
2) Second, to display video using action script, I write code in action script file using netconnect(),netstream, video class.
(i) First above error comes(that packages cant be nested) ,
(ii) If i try to write this code in a function instread of in a package /class; it is not able to connect to that file.
3) Can anyone provide running code for this. I tried code given in help contents, but couldnot get it t work.
Any help in this regard will be greatly appreciated.

probbably you are not writing this code in separate as
you need to create separate actionscript file with name 'abc.as' for that in your project src folder and the paste that code in it
the name of actionscript file should be same as your class file.
you can do this by clicking
file->new->ActionScript Class this will open new dialog
enter your class name in the name textbox and click finish
now you can use this class in your main project easily
by importing it
import abc;
then you will probbably call its constructer to use it

Can Captivate do this - or should I use Flash?
I am trying to create a corporate sales presentation, with
similar look/feel to this Flash preso:

I can handle the video/placement fine. But instead of the
navigation buttons, on the bottom, I want to create a Windows-like
navigation pane - similar to Windows Explorer (but with graphics),
where you can click on a '+' by a folder, and it opens up to show
you subsequent folders/topics, which you can then click on to
navigate through the preso.
I also want to create a portion of the screen on the bottom
where scrolling text, vertically appears, allowing users to read
certain product features as the presenter says them. This I can do,
with Flash.
Captivate seems to do all this, HOWEVER, I need the video to
be continuous, and it seems that Captivate has to do it in pieces,
since it works with slides, rather than frames.
I am not proficient with Flash and would prefer Captivate,
but if Captivate can't do this one thing (continuous video), I
can't use it. It is to choppy.

What's with the new user acct after using Migration Asst? Can I merge users or should I even care?
I used Migration Assistant to bring over photos and music from my PC and a new user account was created on my iMac. I expected this since the instructions on the Apple site mentioned this would happen. But now that it's all over and done it really annoys me to have 2 user accounts. Is it something I should just accept or should I merge the accounts (if that's even possible)?

Once you have the data moved into the account you want you can remove the account you don't want by using the System Preferences - Users & Account. The remaining account must be an administrators account though.

I click on the Thunderbird shortcut and Windows immediately tells me the programme has stopped working. It then tells me that "a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available". Is there a fix available for this? If not should I download the latest version of Thunderbird? Will the new version automatically find my settings? Obviously I cannot automatically upgrade if the programme closes before I open it!
Thanks for that. I installed Thunderbird from the Mozilla website and the programme now opens. All previous settings and e-mails etc. are there.

I've been using firefox with my Mac book. Yedsterday, I got a message to update from version 3.6 to 6.0 in 3 steps. Step 1 was to download version 6.0. It appeared on the list of downloads as Firefox 6.0 dmg. However Step 1 , which was to open the download, stopped at 79% of the download version. So I have not been able to update to version 6.0.
I want to make sure you're using the auto-update system, because that's the safest most reliable way to go, and it shouldn't appear in the download manager, so I lets make sure you're doing it right. <br/>

I have Roboform 6 and CG supplied by Comcast. Extentions tells me neither one is compatible with FF5.0. What can I do?
On another problem, I upgraded against my better judgment because I like 3.6.17 better, but it kept crashing a couple of times a day. Sometimes I was playing a downloaded game, sometimes on a web site or browsing, it happened during various things. I thought maybe upgrading would help but now some of my programs etc. can't work.I found, by searching around here, how to go back to version 3.6.19(couldn't find 3.6.17)and now Roboform works like a charm again. BUT, when I open my Add-on list, CGPS Extension 1.0 tells me it's not compatible with FF 3.6.19. I'm about to pull my hair out, and I can't really afford to lose any(half bald now). I guess my only recourse is to find and reload version 3.6.17. HELP!!

I'm installing windows 7 64-bit on my imac which I've done before but I get a message that the partition is GPT even after I format the bootcamp partition. I just upgraded my hard drive to a 3tb and I'm allocating 1tb for windows. How can I fix this?
No easy fix for a few reasons:
1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
My recomendations:
1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest. -
When using my new nano 7 with nike+, my music stops after the 30 minute voice alert even though I have set my run/workout for over 30 minutes. It also cancels/deletes that run/workout. This has happened several times. How can I keep this from happening?
If possible I would arrange for a good service center to go over it. Hopefully they have a variety of parts in stock. They can test and verify all is working. The previous attempts are based on guesses by the person at the other end of the phone without diagnostic tests to assess the culprit. It is extremely unlikely for a webcam to fail & for it & a Mic to fail together should be an indicator to a good technician it is something else. EG Motherboard
Take it to a servicing dealer and wait for it.

The lens correction option in Lightroom 5 is for the Tamron 28-75mm lens, rather than the correct Tamron 18-270mm, even though it's correct in the Library metadata. How can I fix this?
Are you shooting RAW or JPG or some of both?
When you say it won't let you change it, does that mean there are no lens profiles at all, or no lens profiles that match your lens? If you set Auto or Default you can select any lens you want from the list of manufacturers and profiles and then the Setup says Custom. Of course this lens may not be the correct lens, but saying you cannot change it suggests there are no manufacturers or lenses listed on the dropdowns.
Most lens profiles are for RAW only, so if you shoot a mixture of RAW and JPG then for the JPGs the lens profile may not exist. If you are enabling Lens Profiles and have Auto or Default set and it chooses the wrong one then it may just be choosing the top one in the list for Canon if the specific profile doesn't exist for JPGs.
If you are shooting raw and the profile does exist then you should be able to correct the situation: In the list select the correct profile, then choose Setup: Save New Lens Profile Defaults, and select Default from the Setup instead of Auto and it should pick the correct lens every time. Assuming it does do that, then you can set Enable Lens Profiles = checked and Setup: Default and set those as your new Lightroom Defaults and it should pick the right lens.
If you are shooting JPG then the lens profile may well not exist and there's nothing you can do about that except not shoot JPG. If you feel like it you can hack a raw profile to be a jpg profile and put that hacked copy in the user-lens-profile area and LR will see it. -
When I share photos to Facebook, multiple photos that I didn't choose are posted. How can I prevent this?
Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
1. Right click images you want to share.
2. Select Export version.
3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
See how you go. -
Some times when I press the home button to read my finger the screen becomes black and it shows the Apple logo, this take a few seconds to get back the screen and this has been happening even 3 or 4 times in a row!
What should I do?Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

Can you start Firefox in [[Safe mode]] ?
You can also do a clean reinstall and download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
You can initially skip the step to create a new profile, that may not necessary for this issue.
