I have been trying to obtain original gray install/restore discs for a 1.42 eMac. Definitely no copies. Can anyone help. Tried every ebay supplier.
You could try Apple software sales at 1 800 MY APPLE and see if they still have original system discs for the eMac in question.
You would need to give them the model and serial No. of your eMac.
This is located behind the panel that opens the CD/DVD drive tray or on the drive's front panel when the drive door is open.
Be advised that if they have these discs , it will be a set that would have come, originally, with the eMac model.
The OS will not be up to date. I believe your model eMac came, originally, with OS X 10.4 or OS X 10.4.2 Tiger.
OS X10.4 Tiger is seven years old as of this year!
You could just spend the $129 dollars to buy OS X 10.5 Leopard retail discs.
Call the same number and ask of they have anymore OS X 10.5 discs still available.
There are no new iDevices that will sync and backup using 10.4 Tige any longer.
So, getting 10.5 maybe a better alternative for you.
Your eMac is fast enough to handle 10.5 Leopard with no, appreciable, issues.

Can anyone help? trying to solve logic error in program
The program below does not seem to work as expected. it always returns the highest value, but is inconsistent with the second highest value.

I don't think there's anything "wrong" with my code, except that maybe acm doesn't support packages, which would be a big stretch... Beats me why these pork chops (the acm authors, not the OP) think that taking something perfectly simple and making it complicated is an improvement on the "core" language... think about it... they've taken a simple main method, replaced it with something that involves some funkyassed command line parsing which evidently doesn't work (reliably), and complicates even the most basic program (like HelloWorld.java) by making it inherently multi-threaded.
Acm gets my vote for the "WTF of the Week" award.

What's more, I can't think of a way to do this properly "in the loop"... I'd save the values to a List; sort the list descending; and then print the first two values.
By properly I mean cater for:
1. out of order entry.
2. all in-order entry.

Can anyone help? Tried installing a beta of itunes. It hasnt worked. 10.5 i think. i now have no itunes. my old itunes is now reading as out of date when i try to go in.
The 10.5 Beta version should only be available to those that have subscribed to the Developer channel, and not to anyone else.
The latest version that is available to all is 10.4.1: iTunes 10.4.1 -

Help, I'm Canadian and have an iPhone 5c. I take my phone to the USA for the winter and can't receive any texts unless I'm connected to wifi. Have tried everything I can think of and nothing works. Can anyone help? Tried complete reboot, delegating all threads. Turning off iMessage altogether, then I get nothing!
iMessage (the blue bubble) will only come through via a data connection - cellular or wifi. With cellular data turned off, those messages will not come through until you have a wifi connection.
SMS (green bubble) should still come through, but you would need to verify this with your carrier in Canada.

How do you add musci to the Iphone? I just installed itunes 11.1.5.5. Now the format in Itunes is changed. when I am trying to add music to my iphone, there is no longer an add button under the Iphone device. Why did they have to change this? Can anyone help, Im tryiong to add music.
Correct. When you purchase devices, they would have stated the OS they needed to work, on the box. This can be overlooked, but it is very important to check when purchasing.
You current OS, is so old, that they technology build into the new devices, is not something your OS understands. It didn't exist when your OS was created, and therefore you need to upgrade the OS to work with the newer technology of these devices.

I changed my password and used the new computer, next time I tried to log in it wouldn't accept the password. I tried the old one as well but that doesn't work either. Can anyone help?
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
When the menubar appears select Terminal from the Utilities menu. Enter resetpassword at the prompt and press RETURN. Follow instructions in the dialog window that will appear.

Be sure to open Keychain Access and repair the keychain:

When i login to my mac, it opens iTunes, Skype and AIM. I've tried deleting these from the login items, but they are not on the list. Can anyone help?

Yes, that is correct. The alternative is to quit all applications prior to logging out. Lion will then have a chance to remove the saved states.

urgh... just noticed my previous post said i have mountain lion... i meant that i have snow leopard. no idea why i messed that up!
anyway, i just tried reinstalling snow leopard from the usb key that came with the computer. Then, I installed software updates until it told me there were no more updates. After that, I tried the app store again, and it still is giving me the unknown error. really irked by that. may have to take it back to the apple store yet again, to see if i can figure out why the app store won't work. -

Sounds like you have a program designed to run on Microsoft Windows, or even older (1980's) MS-DOS, rather than Mac OS X. If you have Windows on your Mac installed via Boot Camp, try booting into Windows first, and then loading the CD. If you don't have Windows, it's probably cheaper to buy a new program designed for Mac than to purchase a copy of Windows (US$120 or more), not even knowing for certain if your old program will run. -
I have had to restore my ipad to factory settings, having made a backup on my pc first. When Ihave tried to restore from my pc I have no apps!! Please can anyone help me get them back with all their data. I don't have wifi at home and I have never been able to sync my pc with my ipad, although it works with my iphone! I copied all of the apps before I restored using itunes, but no idea where they are copied to. Any help would be hugely appreciated to get my daughters games back. Thank you in advance )

I have looked at a few other questions on this topic and I have read that the app data is stored in the backup file but the apps themselves need to be synced back onto the ipad. Someome has mentioned right clicking on sync my ipad but I don't know where to find that to right click on!! Lol.
Again, I really appreciate your time and if by any chance you know where I can 'right click' I would really appreciate you letting me know as I can't get my ipad to sync with my pc at all, although it is being picked up in itunes and it has backed up to itunes okay. GGrrr. Maybe I have something wrong in the settings which is not making them compatible? -
