Can Captivate's Output (swf) on a Server Save User Progress?

I am relatively new to Captivate and all the Flash things that go with it. I am running Captivate 5, although my question is more generally about what is possible and what isn't with the program. I am working to create an online distance course that would be stored on a server and accessible to registered users. Although I don't understand all the ins and outs of LMS, I do know that such a system needs to be in place for the program to function. My question is this: Let's say my course is comprised of 75 slides and each slide has 2-3 minutes worth of material on it. Is it possible to configure something (I'm assuming the LMS) so that when a user begins the course, does some pages, and then returns later, that user will pick up where he/she left off?
For example, if user "Seinfeld" registers for the course, enters his username and password in slide 1, and then begins moving through the material and eventually gets to page 10 of 75 when he decides to stop for the day. Is there a way that when "Seinfeld" signs back in, he will begin in the same spot on page 10? Or is it going to start the project over from the beginning every time?

This is called 'bookmarking' and can be a functionality of the LMS. For the settings in Captivate be sure that 'Never send resume data' is not checked.
There is another possibility in Captivate, which stores a cookie on the user's system (so he has to use the same) to remember where he left off if you use the TOC. Check the option 'Self--paced learning' in the settings of this Table of Contents.

Can Captivate pull a user's login information from a Single Sign On (SSO) page?

Looking to start pushing out quizzes and trainings via Captivate. We currently do not have a LMS, so I started testing using Acrobat.com. We have a Single Sign On (SSO) page that passes our users credenitals on to all the sites and apps. Is there a way for Captivate to get those credentials, when submitting quiz results? Do they have to submit their quiz answers via an Acrobat sign in? Can Captivate auto submit answers or does the end user have to hit the Submit/Submit All button?

There is no native feature for getting SSO information in Captivate course.
If you don't have an LMS, and if you would like to use Acrobat.com reporting, then learner will have to click on the post results button, and enter their Adobe.com or Acrobat.com credentials, then hit submit. (Learners must have an Account on Acrobat.com or Adobe.com to submit the results.)
If the course will be accessed within the organization's network, then you can also use Internal server reporting, that works exactly same except learners do not need an account on Adobe.com
They will have to enter their Name and E-mail address to niquely identify them while fetching result reports.

Copy a .swf file from server side to client using signed applet

Hello All,
I already have my applet signed and its working pretty well. However I want to know how can I import a .swf file into clients machine. The .swf file initially is on server side, my applet checks whether this .swf file exists already on client machine. If not it copies it to his machine.
I know how to chk if the file already exits on client machine but I am not sure how to copy this .swf file to his machine if its missing.
May be I need to set some input buffers from server side and then copy them to his machine.
Can some one throw some light on this issue ??

I am trying to copy a .swf file from server side to client side, however I am unsuccessful in writing the correct data. By correct data I mean that , the data does gets saved on the client side in the .swf file, and the size of the .swf file on client side is as expected, but some how I don't know why the data is not the same as expected.
I tried opening up both the swf file, one which is on server side and the other which is on client side. And both looked different in the notepad.
When I opens up the client side .swf file on browser it shows nothing while the .swf file on server side worked fine.

Interesting thing is that I am doing System.out.println(swfcontent); just before writing the data to clientside.swf using output.write(swfcontent);. And System.out.println does print the write data on the java console. However I dont know out of what reason the data doesnt get written correctly on the client's computer.

Can't view output for concurrent request

I apologize if this is a common error - I tried to research this in the forums but didn't find anything that I haven't already tried. I checked the OPP - it is running with 3 processes - no error in the log that I can see. I checked the profile for the OPP timeout and have increased it....
I have registered the data definition, registered and associated a template - created the concurrent program but when I try to run it completes with a warning and can't view output. The log states:

How can Videos be published on a WBT Server?

I am writing a Web Based Training (WBT) using Adobe Captivate 5.5 and MS Windows XP.
I recorded some videos with the Software Camtasia, that can be exported into a lot of different formats like *.flv (Flash), *.wmv (Windows Media Player), *.avi, *.mpeg and many more.
Captivate requires videos in flash format, so I imported the videos as *.flv.
The WBT itself is published as HTML to our company WBT server, our users are using MS Internet Explorer 7 to the start it.
It is working well when I publish on a local drive, for example c:\temp. The videos can be viewed within the WBT slides, and there are the usual buttons like starting and stopping the video.
The problem occurs when I move all the published files including the WBT.htm and the Video.flv to a network drive like the WBT Server z:\temp. The WBT is still working, but when I am starting the videos within the WBT it gives me an error message like "network connection could not be established".
This is surprising, because I am having read and write rights on the network drive. Are there admin rights necessary for the users to work with the WBT?
I know two ways of starting the WBT: One with the path like z:\temp\wbt.htm and that other one with the URL like http://<server_name>/temp/wbt.htm. Both are starting the WBT, but not the videos from within the WBT.
I tried to write a Power Point slide that plays the video. I imported the slide into Captivate, but the videos could not be played from within Captivate. Maybe the problem was that I was using the old Power Point version from 2002?
The workaround is to use videos in the format *.wmv. They cannot be imported in Captivate, but I added a link to the video files (like http://<server_name>/temp/Video.wmv) in the Captivate slides. When the user klicks on the link, then the Windows Media Player is automatically started and plays the video.
But it would be very much better to have the videos directly on a slide in Captivate.
Any ideas are highly appreciated!

Two things to check:
Add the network folder location as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings and then see if the videos will play.
If the first suggestion doesn't work, get in touch with your network admin dudes and find out if FLV files are disabled from working over the network from that location. Many times unless a given file format is enabled on a network, the server assumes it's not desirable and won't serve it.

Captivate 4, interaction SWF using XML and the Reviewer tool Problem

Hello everyone!
I am an advanced AS3er and am only months old working with Captivate 4. I've found some cool ways to use Captivate and incorporating swfs that use CSS and XML for their dynamic content builder and interactivity as well. However, I've run into a problem:
The Reviewer tool will NOT display my swf interactions that use XML, however when published as a course, I can see them perfectly fine (once I move over my css and xml folders after publishing)
Has anyone found a work around for this problem?

Not sure if you want to control the audio used in Captivate of if you want to control you own audio form files loaded externally. If you try to control the audio associated with captivate, believe me it will be a mess. I tried it once and hit so many hurdles that I gave up. The Captivate framework is not meant at all for extending and adding functionality. I had to to create proxy classes that allowed me to gain access to internal variable but even then my control over audio streams was incomplete. Captivate completely lacks an eventing framework!
On an other subject, can you tell me how you got the swf to use the CSS and XML files? Do you have to manually copy them to a folder? Which folder?

When you click the download link on [http://getfirefox.com GetFirefox.com], you should be asked if you wish to Run or Save the file. Slightly off-topic, your Internet Explorer seems to be quite a bit out of date (IE 6, where current version is IE 8), so I would strongly recommend that you try to run Windows Update to get your system updated. If this is a company system (like a Terminal Server thin client machine), this may not be possible, and your system administrator will most likely have to help you.

I think your syntax is wrong and I would use db2ldif from the instance directory. In your case:

Stealing .swfs off of server

How would someone keep individuals from stealing their .swf
off a server? Is there a way to embed it from an HTML page that
makes it secure? Or do you just have to stream it?

How can I check for references to previous server and remove them?

I recently migrated several Win7 PC's off an old sbs2003 box to a new 2012 essentials server.
All client data is stored on the server in a shared folder and that is mapped to the local PC's.
Everything has been great, except we have noticed a delay of 10-15 seconds the first time on one PC, the user opens up Word or Excel and clicks on File (to check recent documents) - it goes to "not responding" for 10-15 seconds and then is perfectly
normal.
Once the program responds again (and the recent documents appear), there is no longer any delay in opening any of the documents at all.
If the user goes off and browses the internet for a while and comes back, re-opens Word or Excel again, the same thing happens.
I've checked what I hope is most stuff, and think I've come down to references on the PC to the old server still.
Is there a list of registry entries/groups that I should be checking, and are there other places aside of the registry that I should be checking also, so I can be sure that only the new server is referenced?
Appreciate any guidance please.

Where is these recent office document located? On your Server?
Generally speaking, application hungs means its process isn't waiting for Windowsing input. Is other application have similar problem?
To troubleshoot this problem, firstly, I would like to suggest you using Process Explorer to check Word or Excel's stack. Then check what does its thread waiting for.

If no use, you can use Process Monitor to monitor the starting process of Word or Excel, then we should be able to find which resource cause hung.

Note: When using Process Monitor to caputer app's trace. Firstly, please set its filter Process Name is Word.exe.
After that, start work to start monitoring.

Are you running any Anti-virus software or do you have your firewall turned on? If so, disable them and try again. If that doesn't work, delete the iCloud account and then sign it back on again.
