Can FCP-X send interlaced SD-video to iDVD ?

Hi all FCP-X users - Please enlighten me.
Can FCP-X send interlaced SD-video to iDVD ?
Or is it like iMovie'08 - 11 ?
Yours archeological - Bengt W

So this will result in NO Loss when exporting out to iDVD as with FinalCut previous versions and iMovie up to HD6.
Nothing like iMovie'08 to 11 will occure ?
Just to be sure and to be able to give proper answers at forum/a.
Yours very thankful and admiring Bengt W

  • Why Can I Not Send Messages or Video Calls?

My sister and I both have 4th gen. 8gig. itouches. Neither of us can video Call our friends through FaceTime of send them imessages(our friends have 4th gen Itouches).  We are both logged on but we can't send/recieve anything! I've all ready tried toggle the app on/off and setting the time to automatic. So please give me some different advice   ThanksApplefreak1257

I'm also a RoadRunner customer and although RR has a different SMTP server for each designated geographic area, RR's SMTP server does not require separate authentication from their incoming mail server and is not supported.
Unless you have None selected for the SMTP server authentication, it will not work.
Port 110 is for the incoming mail server and since RR is your ISP, Port 25 works for their SMTP server.
RR does not block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network on Port 25 as long as the SMTP server is authenticated such as the .Mac SMTP server but I use 587 for the SMTP server port with .Mac's SMTP server and lately I've been using RR's SMTP server to send messages with my .Mac account so i know both work when connected to the internet via RR.
Apple prevents using .Mac's authenticated SMTP server to send messages with any other account besides your .Mac account.

  • Can FCP 5 export mpg 2 video?

I don't see the setting in FCP 5 and the option in Compressor is greyed out.
    Thanks,
    Chas

Click the name of your source material in Compressor's Source Media column or click the "Click the pop-up to apply a setting" button in the Setting column.
    I don't see a "Click the pop-up to apply a setting" button.
Also, the mpeg 2 file extention is .m2v. I need just .mpg.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Chas

  • Can Final Cut Express 4 export videos into iDVD '06?

    Hello cp115,
Sorry for the unrelated question, but I am going to buy FCE 4 and was wondering if I could export videos made there into iDVD '06? I am assuming so.

An educated guess is that it will work. But I'd like you to confirm this prior to purchasing with apple directly (pre sales questions).

  • Graphics for Interlaced & Progressive Video.

I had started an earlier thread addressing this issue. The answer I received didn't achieve the results I was looking for so I presented the information a little better. Thank you.
I am having interlacing issues producing graphics for a video destined for both the web and broadcast.
The video's main output will be interlaced on a DVD, the project uses mixed sources both progressive and interlaced. Graphics produced for this piece have been exported from motion with field rendering on.
Approval for this video is done over the internet on youtube. I must deinterlace the video so that it may be displayed on youtube correctly. The problem is that the graphics in the video get ugly stairstepping in them due to the deinterlacing. Deinterlacing is done through compressor's frame controls.
What is the best method for producing graphics for a video that is destined for both TV and the web? Should I be working in both a progressive and an interlaced timeline (exporting graphics either interlaced or progressive for each timeline). Producing only a progressive video is not valid in this case because we want the interlaced video assets to maintain their interlacing for television. Is there something I can do with my interlaced timeline/video to make the graphics look good when changed to progressive?

The methods provided in the previous thread ARE the best methods. That you're having issues is indicative of something else perhaps. It would be best if you could provide a sample of the two clips and the issue you're seeing. Also, a complete accounting of the footage and graphics would help as well. Here is an example:
    +Video is DV/NTSC 720x480 29.97, lower field dominance.+
+Graphics are Text. Font Arial bold, 28 point in Boris Title tool.+
+Compressor settings: DVD Best 90. Frame controls: Deinterlace (better), output progressive.+
+Here's a pic of the stairstepping I'm seeing after Compressor [provide link]+

  • After years of owning all things Mac, I am finally trying to use iChat, and can't get it to work. I see my buddy, but all I can do is send a message--the video and audio chat icons are gray, as is inviting to a video chat under Buddies.

After years of owning all things Mac, I am finally trying to use iChat, and can't get it to work. I am using gmail, and I see my buddy (no camera icon next to her name), but all I can do is send a message--the video and audio chat icons are gray, as is inviting to a video chat under Buddies. My buddy has the same problem as I.  We are able to do video chat through gmail, but I had hoped to use iChat.  I am using OS 10.6.8, iChat v. 5.0.3.  What am I missing?

    HI,
iChat will Video chat to another iChat in a Jabber Buddy List (Google run a Jabber server for GoogleTalk)
However it will not Video to the Web Page login to iGoogle or the Web Mail Page login.  (where people can Google Chat as it were in a  Web Browser).
Nor does it video to the Google Talk Stand alone app for PCs or any other Jabber apps on any platform.
iChat uses a connection Process called SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) which is also used by other VoIP devices.
Jabber/XMPP invited the Jingle Protocol for Jabber Applications.
Google have included this in their Standalone app and the Plug-in for Web Browsers on both PCs and Mac (you can get this as a Standalone Plug-in or as part of Chrome)
More on this here  This article has been changed several time in the recent months.  It now claims a greater involvement by Google in writing the Jingle Library (Although now Google's version does not work with the others)
This tends to mean that using the web Login to Google to Chat also cannot video chat to other Jabber apps that are using Jingle.
If your Buddy is using iChat then check the Video Menu has two items to Enable Camera/Video chat and Microphone/Audio chats are ticked.
In the View Menu the Show Status Items should be ticked (Selecting them toggles the tick and the function On or Off)
It could be Internet speed but at this stage I would doubt this at this stage.

In FCP, I just see a red box with a yellow triangle at the center(warning). Can someone help me. The video are Full HD 1080/60i.
I also try converting from MP4 to DV. Cannot import the .DV either.

Could it be the case that you have "proxy media" selected in the preferences (under Final Cut Pro -> Preferences, click on "Playback" and see which is selected, proxy or optimized), BUT you are not creating proxy media when importing?
If that is the case, either
      - switch to "original/optimized media",
    or
      - create the proxy media (control-click the clip(s) in the event browser, choose "Transcode media" e check the box for "create proxy media").

  • Why can't i send longer than a 30 second video message?

Why can't I send longer than a 30 second video message on my Droid Maxx?

The text message application and system restricts the maximum size of the file transfers. The resolution of the phone camera also contributes to the size of the videos.

    No

  • Can FCP show 3 videos simultaneously in a picture-in-backgroundPhoto arrangement?

That is, I have 3 x videos from 3 different cameras.  I want to show all videos on the screen at the same time, in sync with each other.
    Can FCP X do this?
(Have tried to do in iMovie but I don't think iMovie is up to this)

    Yes.
Stack the 3 clips above each other in the timeline, select one and reduce its size.
Do the same with the others and reposition them on the screen.

  • Can I send live camcorder video from my iPhone 4S to Apple TV Gen3 using AirPlay Mirroring?

Our bar band just purchased a couple TV sets to hang on light stands at our shows... we'd like to walk around with a handheld camcorder or iPhone and send that live video to the TV sets.   We are thinking of using an iPhone 4S and an Apple TV... connect the iPhone 4S to the Apple TV (Gen 3) via AirPlay Mirroring... then walk around the dance floor with the iPhone 4S using it's camcorder and display that live feed to the TV sets.
    Will this work?
Is there a better way?   The other option we were thinking would involve some kind of wireless video transmitter and receiver.
    TIA,
    RossInGA

    Yes
Is there a better way?   More than likely your best solution would be commercial equipment, mirroring live images works fine around my home, but may not work so well in other environments. The iPhone also shows the camera controls, but then again that could be a desired effect.

  • Converting M2V to DV results in heavy interlace/flicker video

    Hi,
I recorded some VHS tapes to DVD using my standalone DVD recorder (LG).
The resulting DVD looks really great, on TV and in DVD player on the mac.
I want to convert it to .DV format for editing (the .m2v format crashes FCP all the time, don't know why).
When I convert it, the resulting DV video is heavily interlaced, to a point where you can actually see the lines stretched. This is visible also after making a DVD from the DV file and watching it on a normal DVD player/TV.
I played around with compressor a little, and at some point managed to convert the m2v file to a perfect, interlace-free HDV format at 576P. But I have no idea how I did it, cause I didn't save the settings
So what's the best m2v to dv conversion you can recommend? obviously a deinterlace or specific settings should be adjusted, but I have no idea what's the right ones.
    Thank you.

    Hi Silal,
Thank you for that wonderful tip, it actually solved the problem!
Can you recommend what settings to use? I don't think it is smart to actually de-interlace the video. The result is a bit more "jumpy" than it should be, and since the end product should still be interlaced (A DVD), It would be best to keep it interlaced if possible, right? The results I got from Compressor (the settings I don't remember ) produced much better results than MPEG streamclip. The motion was perfect.
Is there a way to do a "swap fields" command or something? I remember such a thing from my days working with Sony Vegas that helped a lot.
    Thanks again!
