Can HTML-based reports be built in BLS via an SQL Query and XSLT?

Hello xMII experts,
I have already built a report in xMII which uses XSLT to provide group/sum totals in a web browser. However in a new project, the report must run at certain times and possibly when certain signals become true in the process.
It appears that BLS is a good choice to achieve this and my proposed Transaction was:
1. SQL Query Action(uses the same QueryTemplate as in xMII)
2. XSLTransform Action on the resulting XML resultset (The .xsl file contains HTML which is the original used in xMII to produce the report there)
3. HTML Loader action with the resulting output of the transformation
I have now got some output in the resulting HTML file - however it omits all XSLT code - and I am left with an empty HTML shell but for a few images.
This indicates that perhaps no SQL data was ever returned.
I have therefore two questions:
1. How can I check if the SQL returned data?
2. Is it possible to deliver data to a HTML file directly after an XSLTransformation.

I am a little closer the result I need - however I think I need to explain what I had and what I need a little better.
Before BLS
1 xMII report page (.irpt extension) with two iCalendar applets (start/end date) and a set of buttons (1 for each report)
Upon clicking on a button the two dates are passed into an .irpt file, and via a servlet an SQL QueryTemplate and a XSL DisplayTemplate are used to build the report.
The HTML is embedded in the XSL file - thereby generating the report direct in the web browser.
- This all works fine
With BLS
A transaction which uses a modified SQL QueryTemplate (no date parameters) passing the results to an XML file. This works.
Now when I click on the button in my xMII screen the .irpt file is called with no Date parameters and the xAcute QueryTemplate called with the XSL DisplayTemplate. The irpt file has <html> and <body> tags with XSL file in the Servlet call providing the tables and data extraction from the XML.
I have no additional HTML file so I placed the iframe tag inside the XSL file - but it refers to the .irpt file - this doesn't sound right!
I do get a little output in the web browser but it still omits all XSLT code.
One more point - The Transaction can be scheduled and run as required - but I need the entire report to created and stored for viewing at a later date. Will a servlet tag running inside an .irpt file achieve this?

It it possible for me to do this, i.e. will I still getthe parameter pages etc.Do I need to uase the Oracle App server?

This should be possible.
With 6i we don't have particularly close ties to the web server that we use. You'd need to configure the rwcgi60 executable to be called from Websphere, and then you should be fine to run. You should take a look in the 6i publishing reports manual (http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/pdf/A73173_01.pdf) - specifically chapter 3.
Be warned, however. With 9i, Reports has a much tighter dependancy on the other components in the iAS stack, so it will be more difficult there.

Generate dynamic reports using sql query and send via mail

Can anyone provide me the links to dynamically generate the sql query based reports and send it to Mail. it should be called from the scheduler program using PL/SQL

the call make a batch file like sndml.bat and write the following codes

or if you are using any mailing software then you can use that..

I would recommend to let your SAP Basis guys do a security trace on the SAP BW side and see if some authorization check for the user fails when trying to fetch data over the universe.

Converting SQL Report Region to PLSQL Function Body Returning SQL Query

All:
I want to convert my SQL Report Region to a PLSQL-generated SQL Report Region so that I can eliminate where clauses dynamically and speed up my app, and also so that I can provide additional sorting options.
 
My problem is that I have lots of embedded single quotes that already are coded as 3 single quotes in the SQL Report Region. I am not sure at all how to code them within the PLSQL.
 
As example, here is one column from my query:
 
select decode(nvl(g.date_sub_1,g.date_rec_1), null, decode(g.article, 0, 'E', 1, 'U'), '< a href="javascript:unElevate( ' ' ' || g.grid || ' ' ',' ' ' || g.natca || ' ' ')">' || decode(g.article, 0, 'E', 1, 'U') || '< /a>') "Reverse" from g_table g
 
(Note that I added spaces within the code so it would display properly in the browser.)
 
To clarify, that's a double quote before javascript, and then 3 single quotes before the first concatenation group, then 3 single quotes after the second concatenation group, then 3 single quotes before the third, 3 single quotes after the fourth followed by an end-paren followed by a double quote etc.
 
My question is, what do I do with these triple-single quotes within PLSQL? Probably a no-brainer for the experienced folks, but I am thinking like a mobius strip at this point.

I think that feature was made for my situation! I keep getting
Function returning SQL query: Query cannot be parsed within the Builder. If you believe your query is syntactically correct, check the generic columns checkbox below the region source to proceed without parsing.
(ORA-20001: Unable to bind :43 verify length of item is 30 bytes or less. Use v() syntax to reference items longer than 30 bytes. ORA-01006: bind variable does not exist)
I did chop the query up into little bits, i.e.
p_sql := p_sql || q'! ... !';
p_sql := p_sql || q'! ... !';
p_sql := p_sql || q'! ... !';
return p_sql;
But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do here.

Concatenate results SQL query and CASE use Report Builder Reporting Services

I need to concatenate the results from a SQL query that is using CASE. The query is listed below. I do not need permitsubtype but I need to concatenate the results from the permittype.
I tried deleting the permitsubtype query and it would not run correctly. Please see the query and diagram below. Any help is appreciated.

As per my understanding, you used case when statement in the query, you do not need to display permitsubtype in the report, but when you tried to delete permitsubtype from the query, it could not run correctly. In order to improve the efficiency of troubleshooting,
I need to ask several questions:
“I tried deleting the permitsubtype query and it would not run correctly.” As we can see, it has no effect to delete permitsubtype from the query you provided, could you please provide complete sql query for the report?
Could you please provide detailed information about the report? I would be appreciated it if you could provide sample data and screenshot of the report.
Please provide some more detailed information of your requirements.

My client is saying that there is an option to modify bi server generated sql query to fetch data from source.
question:As a request is made in presentation services, A dynamic sql query is generated and fetches data from source. all this is loggedin Nqlquery log..well can we change/modify the sql query generated and run modified sql query to fetch data from source. ., if so how? if not why?

Can HTML based browsers rotate along with a Desktop AIR application if browser is modular?

I get a buged out browser module in my Desktop AIR application after doing an application level rotation/orientation-change/flip screen for viewing on other side of monitor .
Most of the HTML content rotates 180 degrees without any issue, but, it seems some of the "components" aren't getting with the program.
Dropdown box lists don't rotate, even though the button to initate use of the dropdown list does. So, when viewing the application from the new orientation,
the dropdown lists are upside down from an end user perspective ( just never rotated properly from a developer perspective )
I was having to flip my application by sending out a message to a service and recieving the call from a WCF to tell the whole OS to flip via WIN32 API but
64bit operating systems do this a lot slower, so i'm trying to find a new solution.
I am wondering if a workaround can be done by replacing the misbehaving things like the dropdown box with native flex components?
Any thoughts/ideas/conclusions?

Can LabVIEW call a DLL built with VS(2005) C++ with /CLR and Without an Entry Point

My project requires me to convert a C++ program to a DLL and having it called by LabVIEW. Due to the complexity of this C++ program (converted from fortran using f2c -C++ option), it cannot be compiled without using /clr option. I did build the application standalone (/clr), and it functioned fine. When I build it into DLL using VS2005, I was forced to use No Entry point option and without using DllMain in the C++ code. Eventually the DLL was built without error. But after I call it from LabVIEW, I was not getting calculated results as expected. I added a testing function to the C++ code of the DLL and just try to modify a parameter, it will not, but only return the input numbers. I was passing data by pointer and not by value, so I expect this parameter output be modified. I suspect that the DLL didnt get executed at all as it has no entry point specified.
Am I on the right track to approach this task, or I am heading to totally wrong direction here? I believe due to the fact that my C++ was from f2c and use vsf2c.lib and so on, the code is managed code, so that a regular DLL cannot be built from it with an entry point. How can LabVIEW call such a DLL? Am I right on that? I really need your advice here for a right approach to this problem and possible implementation "watch outs"...Thanks!

Hi...Finally I was able to compile my code with an entry point defined and without using /clr. I can also call this DLL from LV and got back a variable from a little test function added to the DLL. But the function that was used for my main application in the DLL crashed LV and I got a pop up box from Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library: Runtime Error! "This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way, please contact the application's support team for more information". In Visual Studio I also got the following message: (I eliminated most of the "No symbols loaded" messages that are not errors but just info.) I would apprciate if someone can take to look with your more "experienced eyes", many thanks! Bryan.

SQL query and Delete the data based on condition

I have one requirement like I need to fetch the data from the table, In that table one filed (XXXXX) domain type is STAMP.
delete the data if the sy-datum ( length 8) is greater than field XXXXX which has length 14.
Please suggest me how to delete or fetch the data with the same length.
I have used below code..but did not work..
"Concatenate sy-datum '%' into gv_var1.
select *
from DD03l
into itab
where XXXX like gv_var1."
and tried this one as well
1. DELETE itab WHERE XXXXX GT sy-datum.
2. DELETE itab WHERE XXXXX GT gv_var1.

When dates are in different formats you have to always convert them into one common format and then do the checks. Its better to convert the date in the variable into timestamp(using CONVERT DATE statement-look for abapdocu for its usage) and then compare it with the date on database.
data: gv_var1 TYPE timestamp.
convert date sy-datum into time stamp gv_var1.
select *
from DD03l
into itab
where XXXX like gv_var1.
should work now.

Report Layout width(Report based on SQL Query)

Is there any way to increase the width of the report layout? I have removed as many columns as I can and dropped the font size down but the data in the columns is still wrapping to more than one line. How can I increase the report layout width, or change the layout to landscape or something similar.

I had this problem with wrapping text. You have to create a Reports From SQL Query and choose a custom layout. Then when you go the the HTML layout section, you will need to ad nowrap to the <TD> tag (i.e. <TD nowrap>) for each field you do not want to wrap.

SQL Query (updateable report) - Can't figure out how to make one

Hi folks,
Can someone tell me how to make a report where the data can be updated? Not an interactive report, a SQL report that selects only one row. The only options in the drop down I see are "SQL Query" and "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)", but I have a report elsewhere that says it's type is "SQL Query (updateable report)", but I can't remember how to do it :(
