can i buy HD format or is this reserved only for rentals?

As far as I can tell, currently you can only rent them.
If you like to "own" movies (*), BluRay discs + Sony PS3 to play them back seems to be the only option for now.
(*) You don't really own what you buy if you live in US. The US laws seem to say you only have the right to buy same movie over and over and over again each time you need it in different digital format. So in effect, it is really just some kind of time unlimited renting. Great for Apple. Not so great for you.

You can't, you can only buy from your own country's store - to be able to buy from another country you will need to be in that country and have a valid billing address, and iTunes account. in that country. i'm a candy crush closet user on my iPhone 5s. i have played for about 1 1/2 yrs. i no longer get the daily bonus wheel, and would like it back. it just disappeared one day. getting bonuses can help you move on to the next level without a purchase of any kind.
but, worse...i'm stuck on a level (305) and don't have the option of buying more moves. i get a repeated message that says " failed to contact store". i've asked at the genius bar in our local apple store, how i can contact the store, but was told it's the game company's problem and they need an update.
i've read every forum on "king's" website and even emailed them my dilemma only to get a generic response that i should back up my phone before i download ios8.01. but, my problem occurred way before the new iPhone update.
i'm not a Facebook user (some forums say you have to be, and some say you don't), but that shouldn't affect my option of contacting the store. i sure could use your advice and suggestions. it's a love hate thing. i like the game, but am so disgusted with not being able to move to a new level. it's too difficult to get past without the purchasing the extra moves. i know, i might be considered a loser for even wanting to pay for any part of a silly game. still...i want to have the ability if you know how i can do it.

You should mention in your contacts with Apple that the developer is only responsive with a auto-generated reply email and has not followed up.
I have asked the Hosts to put this in the iPhone forum for a more targeted response. Know that that forum is likely inundated with iOS8x issues, so no promises.

HT2242 Belgium has 2 (well actually 3) main languages, namely Dutch to the North and French in the south. If I select Belgium, I can only buy movies and see trailers in French and not Dutch. Can anybody help?

I believe that I am faced with a common problem, namely: A large multinational that wants my money but is not interested in my country. I selected Belgium as country in iTunes. As a consequence, two things happened. One iTunes uses a mix of French and English to talk to me and does not offer me Dutch. But more importanly, it also offer my movie trailers and movies in French and not Dutch. I am not going to buy movies that are dubbed in French.
As said, I sure many other Belgians have raised this but I cannot find a solution. Any help?
PS: For the Apple boys and girls, if you ever wondered why Belgium remains a modest market for you, well because you do not address your audience in their language.

HT201272 Why can I buy movies on the Brazilian Store, but then there is no way to re-download them. I restored my iPad backup from iCloud and all Movies I Payed for are gone. Unbelievable

I needed to restore my iPad contends and settings, and i was using iCloud backup, but there is no way to re-download any movies I already bought on the Brazilian iTunes store, not that I was able to discover.
All instructions where to the American one, that is slightly different. On this f****ng country(Brasil) I can only re-download music. Very sad.
Is there another way to get my content back without having to pay all over again?
If there is no way to re-download it then don't bother to offer the buy option, or put a warning there that if you someway lost your copy that you would have to pay to download it again. I'm really p****ed with this situation.
First the Apple TV doesn't even have the buy option, so i had to buy and download on the iPad and use airplay to watch it on the TV, and now it's simple gone.
This titles are almost the same price than a BD, if I had the patience to go out and buy it on a store I still would be able to watch it.

Re-downloading of films is currently only available in the US (due to film studio restrictions), and not all films can be re-downloaded there as not all film studios are allowing it. Have you not got a copy of them on your computer and/or on a backup ? Can you buy movie from Apple TV 2, with home sharing?

I like the new Apple TV 2, but wish I could buy, and have it store on my Mac from the Apple TV interface.
Last night I had to go to my IMAC to buy Iron Man, then wait for the full HD to download to get it to stream to the Apple TV. (30 minutes...)
I use to be able to select buy and start watching it in 5 minutes.

I completely agree with you. You should be able to buy it and watch it instantly on ATV and then when you sit down at your Computer it would be in your purchased Que to download.
I really hate the 30 day lag on new movies rentals. When new movies come out now i generally just download them for free from the Usenet servers. I'd be willing to rent them if they were available but not really interested in buying most movies.

You can't buy movies because there is no permanent storage available on the Apple TV, nor is there anyway to transfer them from volatile memory to another location.
You can purchase them via iTunes and watch them on the Apple TV via homesharing or purchase them from your iPad/iPhone and watch them on the Apple TV via Airplay.

Two strange things happened when I rehooked up my Apple TV. One, I was only able to buy certain movies (ie, The Wild). Secondly, when I went over to my computer hooked up to the same computer and opened Itunes (it was already open on my Mac upstairs), I got a message about an upgrade to 7.6.1 which also came across the tv screen as my kids were watching the movie. Anyone else see this and since when can you buy movies off the Apple TV.

Undoubtedly, as has been discussed in these forums many times, because Apple has not been able to obtain the rights to sell movies in Austria.

No one, either here or at Apple, can tell you. Apple will make an announcement at such time as they've worked out the licensing and are ready to start offering movies in your country, should that ever be possible. Sorry, but you'll just have to wait and hope for the best.

You can already buy movies on the U.S Itunes store, so is that going to come into play in the UK.

I believe the plan that was announced when the Movies were introduced was to roll them out to other stores sometime this year. However whether or even if the UK and other stores get them in what's left of 2007 will depend on how the negotiations with the film distributors for each region are going.

Buying movies on Ipod Touch

Can you buy movies directly from the Ipod Touch. I can buy music just fine, so I would think that I could buy movies as well. However I can't even get a movie listing to come up in the store. Seems kind of silly if you have to buy them from Itunes on your computer, and then sync. Hope I am doing something wrong.

As the name of the store exactly explains, the store included on your iPod Touch is called iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. So this means that you will only be able to download music from the iPod.
