Can I cluster servers on one machine?

If I started a few WebLogic servers on one machine (each with a different port
number), can I put them in a cluster (since they do not have the same port number)?
If yes, how can I address the cluster?
          Thanks!

  • Creating multiple http servers on one machine

I created multiple http servers on one machine.
I did this in the following way:
Created a http service as nt service with the following command:
    apache -i -n Testservice -f d:\oracle\isuites\apache\apache\conf\httpd2.conf.
When I start the service, I always get an error:
Didn't return an error. Cannot start service.
    Can someone help me.
I need two httpd services as nt service. Because, I want to use oracle fail safe. So I need a service.
Alternative : I can create batch files. But I want to start these batch files as nt service. Is there a possibility on
Windows nt to do this, or an available tool.
    Thanks in advance,

If you want to have multiplie servers in the same machine and you want to cluster them then you need ip for each instance.
If you want multiple instances without clustering, then you can have them run on the same ip but each one should have a different port.

If you are accessing the ejb/services on the same server using a servlet. You can get the context, simply using the default getInitialContext(). This should return the context to the local machine. This shoudnt require any ip information.

Are you referring to use the display of one with the other Mac or are you referring to use the hardware of both computers into one?
If you are referring to this first option, you have to use an application like ScreenRecycler, because only 27-inch iMacs and iMacs with Thunderbolt can be used as an external display officially.
If you are referring to my last option, you can't do it

  • Can Mavericks be cloned from one machine to another?

Are Mavericks installations machine-specific? Like OS install disks that shipped with machines vs. retail disks one could install on anything?
Today I'll be receiving a previously-owned late 2009 Mac Mini with Mavericks already installed on it. I'd like to be able to clone that and move it to a partition on a mid 2010 Mac Mini.
I'm not sure Mavericks is for me but I'd like the opportunity to test it out in a confined area. I need to reinstall the original older OS on the '09 Mini for my current work, thus my desire to move Mavericks to a spare partition on another machine (which has a larger drive).
I do realize that since Mavericks is free it could be downloaded for the partition - in an ideal world where I'd have something other than a slow-as-dialup connection.

Thank you. I'd not considered the Apple ID issue. Hopefully he did a clean install before sending it off, though I don't think I'll be able to start it up until tomorrow (it should arrive later today but it's so intensely cold here I'm going to let it sit for several hours before turning it on).
Perhaps a better solution for me would be to clone Mavericks to an external drive, then reformat the drive in the 09 Mini for 2 paritions, placing Mavericks on one and  10.6.8 (what I need) on the other?

  • Why might a VI break when building an executable on one machine versus another?

I have a large test application that is designed to work on several machines. In the process of testing I go to each machine and open the project on the machine I am testing. When I am satisfied the project is behaving as expected  I build the executable and test that it is working as expected. This is where my problem occurs.
More Background: This software was originally meant to run one test at a time and was upgraded to run multiple tests at the same time(sharing resources and the like). To accomplish this, another VI was written that opened instances of the original VI (clone). I don't know if this is common, however this has been in use for a while and is known to work even after the migration to the network(probably not the problem).
My issue is that I can build the software on one machine and it will work on another machine, yet when I try to build the same exact project from the other machine it will no longer open the instance of the original VI. I probed the error wire and it indicates that the VI must be broken. So I open the VI and it has no errors.
I have no idea how to diagnose this any further. Anyone have any ideas?
    -Nate
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Try mass compiling the entire project hierarchy prior to making a build. Also, if you are dynamically launching VI's, you must put them in the "Always Include" section of a Build Spec.
Do either of these things help?

  • Can different cluster  of SAP Business One installed on the same Server

    Hi!
Can anyone tell me if B1 different cluster version installed and run on the same server. Example B1 2005A AND B1 2005B. If it can, could you please include the procedure how can it be done.
    Thanks,
    Jo Borlagdan

No, A and B have different patch cycles - so there would be conflicts in SBO-Common. Therefore it will not work.
You could try to workaround that with named instances of MSSQL, but installation & update would need additional care + workarounds.
The best way to combine 2 SAP Business One cluster "servers" but still on one hardware would be to use a tool like VMWare... - but such a configuration has not been released by SAP - i.e. if there's an issue that could be traced back to the VMWare system, SAP might not be (li?)able to fix it
    Sorry,
    Frank

BTW: Please note that you need to think eventually about conflicts with MS licenses. SAP has an agreement with MS which ASFAIK covers the license for 1 VMWare Windows system on 1 Windows PC so that we can use WMWare for SAP Business One sandbox systems - after RAM upgrades () it works fine...

  • How can I migrate an Essbase Appl. from one machine to another?

We uses 3 computers to cover our development cycle: one for developing, one for testing with almost real data (integration test) and a production machine.I created a new Essbase appl. and want to transfer it from one machine to another, but only using batch scripts (ESSCMD) due to company policy. I don't know where the name of the application is stored. (I thought it is essbase.sec, but I believe is not true)I transfer all the files that belongs to an appl. (the list of them I get using BEGINARCHIVE) but is not enough.Does anyone have a hint?

If you can map a drive to each to the servers, then:1. Create an application/database on the new server with the same names as those on the old server.2. Use Windows/DOS, copy the outline (.otl), calc scripts (.csc) and load rules (.rul) to the new server.3. Export the database from the old server to a file(s) on the new server.4. Stop/start the new database/app.5. Import the data into the new server (no load rule needed).

  • Can i create more than one db in a machine?

can i use "create database" to create more than one db in a single machine?

I understand what you're saying and it's sound advice. When you said crash I took it as meaning at the database level
and not the server level. As I said before, one database crashing will not effect another on the same server. If the server
crashes both databases will crash too. I think we both agree on that.
then you will have more than one job in hand.... And to get things up-and-running, will take that much longer.....True, but there's other things to consider in the real world. For example one of our servers contains our development/test
database and our production database. I hate to sound like management here(which I'm not) but why should we buy another
server for 5-8 people to use for development/testing? The cost of a few developers not working for a while and DBA restoring
the database in the rare case of a server crash is less expensive than buying a second server. Maybe if we had more
developers for this system a second server would be justified. Another reason for not having a second server may be that some
people can't afford a second server.
So can you install more than one database on a server? Yes
Is it better to have one database per server? Yes
Is it always justified to have one database on a server? No

  • Can we create multiple admin servers in one one weblogic domain.

    Hi All,
Can we create multiple admin servers in one one weblogic domain.
if yes, please let me know.
    Thanks

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/web.1111/e13716/toc.htm
    Not through the configuration wizard.
To handle admin server availability (the admin server is not clusterable). This means that if the admin server goes
down, you cannot administer your WebLogic Server domain until you bring it back up. In most cases, you may
not be too concerned if the admin server goes down because all you need to do is restart it. If you use the node
manager to start the admin server, the node manager can automatically restart a failed admin server just like it can any other server.
What happens if the machine where the admin server runs fails in such a way that you cannot restart the admin server?
The answer is simple if you prepare for this event. Proper operation of the admin server relies on several configuration files
and any application files it controls. Typically, the best thing to do is to store the admin server's directory tree on a shared disk.
As long as the configuration and application files are accessible, you can restart the admin server on another machine. It is up
to you to make sure that you don't have more than one admin server running at a time. If the new machine can assume the
original admin server's Listen Address (or if it was not set), you can simply start the admin server on the new machine without
    any configuration changes.
Otherwise, you will need to change the admin server's Listen Address. Since the managed servers ping the admin server URL every
10 seconds until it comes back up, you need to devise a way for the admin server URL to allow the managed server to find the restarted
admin server on the new IP address. The easiest way to achieve that is using a DNS name that maps to both IP addresses, or better yet
that is dynamically updated to point to the correct location of the admin server. If this is a graceful shutdown and migration, use the
WebLogic Console to change the Listen Address just before shutting down the admin server. If not, you will need to edit the config.xml
file by hand to replace the old Listen Address with the new one. Typically, it is recommended to plan ahead so that everything you need is
already in place to make admin server failover as painless as possible.

  • Cluster on one machine?

This may sound weird, but I am trying to setup a cluster on one machine. it has 2 nic's, I can assign 2 IP Adresses. The reason behind this, is we need to do testing in a clustering environment, but we don't have any spare machines for this.
The hardware is Sun 250, 2 NICS running Solaris 2.7.

    use ..
              weblogic.system.bindAddr = <ip_address>
to any one of your weblogic.properties file .....
That will make sure that blogic starts up only binding to that ip.

  • Can I use aperture library on more than one machine

    My situation is thus:
I have a Macbook Pro on which my Aperture Library resides, in wherever Aperture decided to put it when I bought the software.
I now have a iMac, which obviously will be better than the Macbook for photo editing.
But I want to be able to take my Aperture Library with me when I take the Macbook out and about, and if necesary still edit on the Macbook.
Is there any way to share the Aperture Library, so that I can edit on the iMac, but leave the library on the Macbook, and then edit on the Macbook if I wish.
I am the only user, and will only be using Aperture on one machine at any one time.
I have searched archives but not managed to find the answer.

Is it possible to simply share the directory that contains the necessary file(s).
If your Library is in the location that aperture picks by default, then it will be in your "Pictures" folder - look for a file with a name like "Aperture Library. aplibrary".
What you will need to share depends on your import strategy for the master images. If you use managed masters, and all your master images reside inside the Aperture library, then you simply need to make this library file accessible  or copy it to an external disk.
If on the other hand your masters are referenced, then I would recommend to consolidate them into the library before you share the library and then share the consolidated library.
If you will share your library over the network or just by moving it to an external device is really up to you, but you might consider  the following pros and cons:
    - If you want to profit from the faster CPU on your iMac, then you should keep the library on the fastes volume that is available, and a network volume might be much slower than a directly connected volume.
    - if the network fails during a critical operation your library might get corrupted, if it resides on a network volume - there have been quite a few problems reported in this forum.
That is why I suggested to use your Macbook as directly mounted external volume, that leaves the library in its place on the Macbook Pro - no need to copy - and you have a very quick and stable connection,  but the decision is yours to make. You will have to be comfortable with the workflow you choose.
