Can I colorize emails from certain people (like in Entourage)?

I just switched from Entourage to Mail. One feature they have is emails from certain peaple can show up in different colors (in the inbox). So I can see in glance that I have email from family members or work friends, etc.
Is there any way to do that in Mail?
Thanks,
Alfredo

go to prefs - rules.
you can make new "rules" for whatever you want to happen. colors being the easiest to set up. you could make it runs scripts too i beleive, if you wanted.
there are other threads that go into this in more detail i think.

I am having trouble getting e-mails from certain people. My wife just renewed our mac.com membership. The fee was$99 + $10 extra for myself. We are not getting the benefits of this membership and demand it be fixed immediately as the problem has existed for a week. My wife has a brand new "i book pro" and the same problem exists for her. Her email address is: [email protected]

  • It seems that I can't receive emails from certain sites. They are not on the blocked list. How do I fix this?

No matter what I do I can't receive emails such as newsletters from certain companies. I have looked several times on the blocked list and they are not there. It happened after my computer tech changed me to FireFox. How can I fix this?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

  • Why can I block iMessages from certain people on my phone and tablet and not my Macbook 10.9.1????

This seems pointless to block them on my iPhone & iPad if they are just going to show up on my laptop!!!
I am going to stop using iMessage and just use Verizon Messages App...

    HI,
Apple said it would be coming to both the iOS version and the Mac version but it seems it is  little slow on the Mac version.
I have hopes for the OS X 10.9.2 update.

  • Not recieveing email from certain domains

    Hi,
I am having trouble getting to the bottom of an issue which I have had for a couple of weeks now.
We are unable to receive email from certain domains. The big problem is our sister company no one on there domain is unable to send to any party on our domain, this has only just started happening this morning, however email delivery form other domains has
been problematic for about two weeks now. We are receiving plenty of email form other parties still.
Our sister company is not getting any bounce backs and I have checked the message tracking within Exchange 2008 and I am unable to see any email come in at all from our sister company.
It is worth mentioning that the host of our domain is having a number of issues with "Nameserver" when I check on intodns.com and I'm not to sure if this is the problem or not, however we are currently in the process of transferring away form
them and setup with the same host as our sister company. The transfer hasn't happened yet as our current host hasn't released the tags.
Has anyone got any ideas that can help please??

What's the path from the sister company to your company?
Is it direct? Or does incoming email first transit through some online spam filtering service (like Postini).
Can the sister company connect using telnet?
    Here's some very detailed directions:

    And more concise:

  • TS3899 I still can not send email from my ipad but iPhone works on those accounts

I still can not send email from my .mac account or a .comcast.net from my ipad. I how 2 people so far that has brought to my attention. We have exchange accounts setup on the ipads for work. I compare the settings from iPad to iPhone from my view it appears identical. I am looking at an iPad 2 and a Mini.
I turned on and off the ipads and nothing really changed. The emails come into those accounts.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

When you say you can't send...as in they never get the email?  Does the email appear to send?  Error message?  When?
It may be more than one iPad that has a problem....

  • Can not send email from this house

I cannot send an email from any computer, laptop or phone (connected via wifi) from this house. However, if I take the laptop or phone to another place I can send with no problem. Oh, I can receive just fine.
Here's the problem. I am not using Verizon's provided email. I am using one of my own, i.e. [email protected]
Any email address (59 different accounts) that is on my server will not send from here. Now, no other Verizon user has this problem. Example: My parents have an email address from my server and it works. So does my son, as well as my brother and a few clients. None of them have a problem sending an email, and they are all Verizon customers. Yet, come to my house, use my internet and you can't send.
I am using MS Exchange 2003 and I have been an Admin for 10 years and I know what I am doing. Before anyone asks, I set my exchange to listen for port 587 as well.
I have called Verizon on numerous of occasions with no help. I called many IT friends and they keep saying it's Verizon. I called the Techs where my server resides and 7 of them attempted to figure this out and they too say it's Verizon. The only way I can send an email from my house is log onto my server remotely and send it from there, or use my phone's internet and send from there.
Now, I can understand if I had a problem with every Verizon account out there, meaning if no one else using the email from my server couldn't send, but when it only happens here at my house it makes no sense.
I have tried everything. I only had my laptop plugged directly into the modem (bypass the router) nothing. Got a new modem - same thing, still can't send.
Oh, I can send emails with the Verizon email provided though. Just not mine own.
Oh, I do have my own webmail setup on my server. I can log on to it via my browser and send from there just not from Outlooks, Thunderbird or any other 3rd party email.
Any ideas or help it greatly appreciated. I've gone through this for over a month and it's driving me crazy!

For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up  your fictional account. Using "[email protected]" as the 3rd party address and "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
Incoming Server: incoming.mydomain.com (or whatever your 3rd party server is) - For this server you set up everything according to your domain's settings.
    Reply Address: [email protected]
    Outgoing Server: outgoing.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): No
Port: 25 (although 587 also works.)
These settings should work unless you have a Verizon/Yahoo account, in which case the outgoing server name is: outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net
Hope this makes a little more sense.

  • Mail can't send email from 123-reg accounts

    Hi all,
I've got an issue with Mac Mail can’t send email from 123-reg accounts.
I know there is a lot of articles on simular matters and some I have tried out with no luck, others are just speaking a whole other language.
Any help would be greatly recived, here's my situation below:
    Running a iMac 2.8GHz Intel Core i5 on OS X 10.8.3
I’m using 3 accounts on Macs Mail client, one is my iCloud account that is working fine and the other two are my 123-reg accounts that I use for business purposes. I’ve been working like this for a couple of years now and about 6 months ago I upgrade my operating system from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
2 or 3 months ago I randomly got a problem where I was unable to send any emails from my 123-reg account, I could only receive emails. I checked my settings and they were all correct and unchanged so I attempted to delete them and recreate the account but with no such luck.
I then decided to check if it was a problem at 123-regs end and attempted to log into web mail. This worked and was able to both send and receive emails so eliminated that possibility.
I also have these accounts set up on my iPhone, so checked if there was any issues and everything was working fine. I then checked my iphone details and made sure the same was on my desktop and still no such luck.
I’ve tried out some of the articles I’ve found on here (the ones written in plain English) still no results. I’m not very IT illiterate and just wondered if anyone else has got any ideas, whether there is something specific with 123-reg accounts and Mac Mail?
    Many thanks.

    Thanks
I just had another hunt around looking at posts and discovered that it was because I recently changed to BT Infinity and they had a block on.
I didn't even think to question the ISP.

  • Can't send email from home

I have a serious problem. My wife has a Mac Book Pro for work and she can send email at any location except from home. The error she is getting is
Cannot send message using the server smtp.knology.net:(username)
The server "smtp.knology.net" refuses to allow a connection on the default ports. Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click try later to leave the message in your outbox until it can be sent.
I have BellSouth/AT&T DSL with a Westel Versalink 327W modem. The funny thing is our local library also has BellSouth DSL and she can send email from there. Like I said, the only place she can't send email is from our house.
    Thanks

It is the BS/ATT system you are on. BS/ATT does not allow sending email to another domain from a Residential account. I had the same problem with my work email from home. All sent mail on port 25, I think it is, from a ATT Residential account must go through the ATT servers and or ATT/Yahoo.
Have your wife check with the mail provider for an alternate sending port. My work mail servers used port 26 for POP and some other port for IMAP.
    EDIT:
Right the Library has a Business Account. No restrictions on the Business ATT DSL.

    Greetings,
    Questions:
    1. What version of the Mac OS are you running (Apple > About this Mac)?
    2. What version of the iOS are you running (Settings > About)?
    3. Do you use MobileMe/ iCloud or another server based sync solution like Google or Yahoo?
    4. Do other changes to synced information like Address Book content sync successfully back and forth?
Based on your description it sounds like you have a 1 way sync issue.  Events sync fine between the iOS devices and fine from the computer to the iOS devices but not from the iOS devices to the computer.
    Try:
Backup your computer and iOS devices before doing anything else:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
Ensure all the devices in use are fully up to date: Apple > Software Update / Settings > General > Software Update
Make separate backups of critical data:
    Backup your computer Addressbook: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=AddressBook/4.0/en/ad961.html
    Backup your computer iCal: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2966
Reset syncing on your Mac: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627
Reply back if that does not resolve your issue.
    Hope that helps.

Do you have one, two or more entries in the left colum of Mail.app for your mail server(s)?  That is, do you have your Mail.app set up with either a btinternet entry, with a btyahoo entry, or both?  Or more?
I'm guessing that you might have one account (btyahoo?) listed for incoming (IMAP server) mail, and with the outbound (SMTP server) mail is configured and named btinternet.
Based on what little I see posted, it looks like BT uses both btinternet and btyahoo, but I'm not exactly clear on how they have their stuff set up, and their web set gets helpful and tries to help configure my mail — I don't immediately see a single web page with the mail server set-up details.  The BT email client set-up starts here.

I can't download email from Mail 5.3 the last 2 days installed on OS 10.7.5. Then tried to upgrade to Mail 10.5.6 but get message that all my volumes are full. No they're not!! What gives?? See grab shot below.

I may have just found the solution.  It turns out that the photos on my iPhone only became inaccessible after the latest upgrade of iOS 7.  They were not recognizable by any means of access from my mac. So...I launched iTunes and up came a dialog box asking me if I wanted to allow access to the iPhone via this computer.  I clicked "Allow," and it told me to use the iPhone to allow access.  I went to the iPhone and sure enough there was a dialog box asking for permission to share information with the computer.  I clicked "allow" or "yes" or something like that, and for me the problem was solved.  I can now upload photos from my iPhone with Bridge just like I used to.  No problem.  I hope this will work for other mac users.
