Can I convert the file format of purchased songs?

I'm trying to put together a movie for my kids with a song I purchased through iTunes but it is a mp4 file - which will not work in my movie-making software! Can I convert the song to mp3??!! Help!!!

Yes, but it's a 2 step process. First, burn the mp4 file to a cd, like one you can play in a regular player. Then import the cd back as an mp3 file (you set this up under preferences, import tab). I do this to all of my iTunes songs because they are worthless unless I can play them on devices other than my iPod.

Install VLC. QuickTime is limited in Mac, so use VLC

  • File formats on purchased songs.

When I purchase songs from ITunes, they are in an ACC format.  To use on the shuffle, I need to convert to a MP3 Format.  I now have duplicates of the songs.  I know this is a silly question, but I would rather be safe than sorry.  Can I delete the ACC format, thus only have the MP3 format in my library.

    Yes, you can.
However, it would be easier to just buy the songs in MP3 format in the first place and save the extra trouble.  Good places to buy MP3s are Amazon MP3 and Google Play Music.
MP3s will work in virtually every player, program, and device, both Apple and non-Apple.

  • I have converted most of my windows media files to itunes. However I had to close it down about 3 quarters of the way through. It then processed the album art. How can I convert the files that it didn't finish doing the first time? thanks

    Hi there,
hope you can help me. I helped my sister convert her window media files to itunes and set up an account for her. Unfortunately her computer is really slow and it was really late and we had to turn it off. It processed some of the album art for the files that it had converted. However, some songs were not converted and because there was quite a few left, I don't really know which ones did not get converted as I selected  all of the folders. How do I find out which ones I have left to convert and put the rest of the songs onto itunes for her please? Or are they on the itunes still as they showed up initially on itunes in the list to be converted.
    Thank you!

You could convert them all again and then dedupe, or use a Windows search to reveal all the WMA files and then try to work out which still need to be converted. If you're lucky iTunes would have processed the imports in alphabetical path order so it would just be a matter of working out where it had got up to...

  • How can I change the file format in iTunes 11?

It seems the Convert to .. function which was available when right clicking a song is no longer there.  How can you convert an AAC to MP3 for instance?

    Assegai Guy,
It is still there but it looks a little different in iTunes 11.  The "Create New Version" command is now in the File menu instead of the Advanced menu.

  • Surface RT will read files for a period of time. After closing the files and reopening later, they're corrupted or Windows says it can't open the file format.

File formats include jpeg, Word and Excel documents, and PDFs. Documents have come from downloads, email attachments, and documents created locally. Performed a full scan today which found no results. Performed a system refresh and no improvement. These
are documents I've opened, edited, saved, sometimes reopened and used, and later, they randomly aren't working.
Currently saving all documents on the MicroSD card to keep the SSD drive as free as possible on the Surface.
Downloading a firmware update as I type this.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
For the issue, please  open these files using other computer to see if we can open them normally.
Meanwhile, try saving all documents on your SSD to test it.

I have music on my old iPod classic that is not in my Mac Apple based itunes library.  Is there any way to convert the windows file to an Apple file?

  • How can I change the music format of my songs?

How can I change the format of songs in my computer so itunes will recognize them?
Music is recorded in my computer but itunes doesn´t seem to read it.

You know, its kind of weird. The songs where in a friends i-pod; that I uploaded into my computer using the instructions found in one of these forums. Then I downloaded the music into my i-pod and it was ok.
After a few months it occurred to me to consolidate my library. After consolidating my library; itunes can´t read about 7GB´s of music. I haven´t connected my ipod into my computer since then because I fear the music will be lost.
The music is stored in my computer, some of it I can listen with the windows media player. I just can´t get itunes to recognize it.
If I sync my ipod will I loose the 7GB of Music?

  • How can I convert the files in my ipod to the original mp3 and jpegs?

My computer recently crashed and my ipod has most of my photos, music and contacts. I am using windows OS and my question is how come you guys dont have software that will covert IPOD's files to windows viewable/playable formats?
This is very unfair since millions of people buy your products and you have only a one sided solution (Mac users only). What about all the Windows OS users?????

Who are "you guys" you are talking to?
We are all just users like you.
iTunes converts files into useable formts for the iPod.
If the iPod crashes, reload from iTunes. If your computer crashes, use the backup files of your music folder you created. After all, you did read the documentation and make backups as recommended, correct?
If you did not make the recommended backups, you could try Yamipod (google it).
Thiw will allow you to get the stuff off your iPod and back into iTunes.

WHat is the one sided solution for Mac that Apple has developed?
I think it's unfair that you blame Apple for your problems since they recommend you backup your music library and you did not do this.

  • Can iTunes convert a file and replace the old file with the new one?

I am trying to convert my wav files to Apple Lossless to save some space. How can I convert the files and make them replace the old files? Right now it just converts new files so that I end up with two files. I have thousands I want to convert and just replace the old ones.
I have an external program that will do it for me, however if I go that route then when my ITunes files are converted to lossless files I need to re-link the files as they show up with the ! showing they are missing. That would mean manually re-linking every song, which would take forever unless there is a way to mass re-link all the files.

iTunes does not see the newly created files as the same file because they are not the same file.  They are new, different files.  If you have a track that is 1234.wav and you create 1234.mp3 it simply isn't the same file and you can't trick iTunes into thinking it is.  iTunes will handle it as a brand new file.
Check Dougscripts web site for scripts which help modifying tag data.  However, I suspect you won't find any doing exactly what you want doing.  Some tag data are only accessible by iTunes itself.
As for playlists, there's things you can try though they may be more effort than they are worth.  For example, you could add a special code for each playlist to some element of a tag (e.g., grouping).  Convert the file, then make a smart playlist selecting for the code you added to the group of tracks in the old playlist.  If you have hundreds of playlists with a dozen tracks each this will be a grand nuisance.  If it is a handful of playlists with hundreds of tracks each this might be worth it.
Another way to preserve playlists would be to edit the .xml copy of the iTunes library file, replacing ".wav" with ".mp3" or whatever format you are using.  However, this won't help with play counts because that is only stored in the .itl copy of the file which you cannot edit.

  • Changing the file format of spool output when scheduling a background job.

    Hello Experts,
I have an issue. It is related to Spool output format. I created a job for one report program for which the output is a list output. I have added one recipient in the 'Spool list recipient' while creating the job SM36. After the job is finished the spool output is sent to the recipient mail id as .htm format as an attachment. But the attachment should be excel sheet or text file. No coding in the program should be used to convert the file format. Only settings in the spool while creating job should be manipulated. Please help me in solving this issue.
    Regards.

    Hi Sunil,
You can use the logic for converting spool to PDF using program : RSTXPDFT4 . Alternatively you can use FM: CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF . In this FM you need to pass the Spool id .
u can make use of these FM's SO_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1
    SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_SEND_API1

  • Converting a file format

I created a video clip on my Sony Camcorder. The disc shows a folder containing 6 files: 2 BUP files, 2 IFO files and 2 VOB files. When I try to bring the clip into Adobe Premier Elements 11, the files that show up are VIDEO_TS.VOB and VTS_01.VOB. Although I can import them through Add Media, they do not play clean. They have lots of wierdness happening. How can I convert the files to an acceptable file format? And do I have to convert all 6 files? Thanks, Mitch

As I show you in my book, if you put the DVD into your computer's DVD drive and then use Premiere Elements' Add Media/From PC DVD or DVD Camcorder, the program will "rip" the video files from the disc and then set up your project automatically to work with your video as the best settings possible.
I still don't know what processor you have or how much RAM, so I can't say if your computer is adequately powered to edit this type of video. But in my experience, Premiere Elements 11 does a pretty good job with DVD video if you use the Add Media tool to get the video from the disc to your computer.
Also, don't forget to render your timeline (press Enter) whenever you see yellow orange lines along the top of the timeline, above your clips, in Expert view.
I show you more of the basics of this program in my free 8 part Basic Training tutorial series, if you're interested.

  • I have a MacBook Pro, I want to copy Itunes files to an SD card to play in my car, the SD Card doesn't appear in Itunes when I insert it, and I don't know how to convert the files to the correct format, can anyone help?

I have a MacBook Pro, I want to copy Itunes files to an SD card to play in my car, the SD Card doesn't appear in Itunes when I insert it, and I don't know how to convert the files to the correct format, can anyone help?
    Thank you

So it seems from reading the COMMAND manual that my first issue is that I used a 16GB SD card, and the manual says it will only recogize up to a 2GB SD card. I did use my MB Air's SD card slot and crated a folder and dragged the music files to it, then to the card. So I am going to get a 2GB card and try that next. Otherwise just stick with the iPOD connected. At least that is 8GB

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).
