Can i leave my ipad 3 charge all night?

Hi, I just recently bought a new Ipad 3 and it's wonderful but the charge takes some time so for a couple of days i've left it charge over night will that harm the battery in any way? thanks
if it does harm please give me ideas or details of how can i charge it thanks

You can leave it plugged in continuously.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

  • I left my ipad on charge all night and when i took it off it was very hot and wont turn on how do i fix it?

please help me and tell me how to fix myipad

Have you tried a reboot - hold both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignoring the red slider if that appears?
If that does not work, take it to an Apple store genius bar and have the techs check to see if the battery is damaged.

  • Can I leave an iPhone 5c on charge all night?

Hi, I have recently purchased an iPhone 5C and just have a few questions.
Does the phone have to be powered on for the alarm to go off?
If so, can I leave the phone on charge all night so my alarm will go off in the morning without causing any harm to it?

Correction: the alarm will go off if the phone is sleeping. If the phone has been turned off, that is you have done the "Slide to power off", then the phone is inert. Switched off is switched off. No power. The alarm will sound whenever the phone is powered up again.  It's easy enough to experiment.
Yes, the iPhone can be left plugged into the charger for a month if you like. It can look after itself.

  • My IPad will not turn on, despite charging all night and all day. The Apple pops up then goes away. What is wrong and how can I fix it?

My IPad will not turn on despite charging all night and all day.  The Apple pops on but then shuts off again.  It does this over and over. How can I fix this and get it up and running again?

    Hey bellabeanbag,
Thanks for the question. The following resource outlines troubleshooting steps if your iPad is not responding:
    iPad: Basic troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3274
If iPad won't turn on, or the display stops responding
Follow these steps, testing after each:
    1. Turn the iPad off and turn it on again. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button on top of iPad for a few seconds, until a red slider appears. Then slide the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    2. Reset iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If iPad still won't respond after you restore it
Follow these steps, testing after each:
    1. If you receive an alert in iTunes while restoring your iPad, refer to this article for instructions on how to resolve common issues with updating and restoring.
    2. If you cannot restore your iPad in iTunes, or if iTunes does not recognize the device, refer to this article for instructions on restoring using recovery mode.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • My iPad ran out of battery completely.  After charging all night, it is 100%, but my apps won't start.  I can access email, Safari, etc.....just not game apps.  I have restarted it several times.  Thanks!

My iPad ran out of battery completely.  After charging all night, it is 100% however I cannot get my apps to work.  I can access Safari, email, etc., but cannot get game apps, etc.  I have restarted it a couple of times.  Any help?  Thanks!

Try downloading any free app from thee store and then re-try your apps - the free app can then be deleted.
If that doesn't work then try closing all your open/recently used apps completely : from the home screen (i.e.not with any app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the each app to close them, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • How long can I leave an iPad on?

I'm tired of looking for a decent digital photo frame to hang on my wall. So I was thinking about turning a few of my old iPads into photo frames and essentially leaving them on all the time. Is it ok to leave the iPad display on all the time? Is it designed for that?

Don't think they were designed for that. But if they're 'old extras' just lying around, why not use the no cost option you have? Worst that'll happen is that it fritzes out.
I do have to say, I don't think ANY electronics are meant to be 'always on'. Everything has a finite life span and the way you use it can determine what that lifespan is.

  • TS1286 Hi! I can't get my IPad to charge when it's powerd on. HELP! :)

Hi! I can't get my IPad to charge when it's powerd on. It only charges when it's powerd off and it takes a while. Also, I can't sync at all. PC doesn't reconize it. Has anyone here had this problem that can give me a hint of what is going on?

  • Deleted songs on my iPod by sync with new Mac - ups! Can I sync with iPad to get all song back?

deleted songs on my iPod when sync with new Mac - ups! However all songs are still on my iPad library. Can I sync with iPad to get all song back?

You can use the transfer purchases feature to put the songs back into iTunes from the iPad - as long as the songs were purchased from iTunes.
Connect the iPad, launch iTunes and then right click on the iPad name under devices and select Transfer Purchases. But ..... Before you do that - turn off auto sync first.
Launch iTunes and the go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from syncing Automatically. Check the box at the bottom that says that. Then click OK. Then you can connect the iPad to the new Mac to transfer the purchases.
This will only work for music purchased from iTunes. If you have music ripped from CD's, you will need a third party app - like TouchCopy.
You can also download the songs again in iTunes as long as you use the same Apple ID. But read this about downloading past purchases as there are some restrictions based on where you live.

  • HT1476 Can I use my iPad 3 charger to charge my iphone5, since it fits?

I misplaced my iphone 5 charger.  Can I use the ipad 3 charger (small port) that fits the iphone 5 to charge it?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The iPhone 5 and the 4th generation iPad use the same charger port, Lightning, so you can use the 4th generation iPad charger with the iPhone 5.
However, the 3rd generation iPad has got a 30-pin Dock, so as you said it has the small port, I suppose you have a 4th generation iPad

  • HT4060 tried everything and can't get my ipad to charge...how do you reset it if battery is complety dead?

tried everything and can't get my ipad to charge.  How do you reset IPad when battery is completly dead?  charger and cable works fine on IPhone.

First make sure you are using the charger that came with your iPad and plug that into a known good wall outlet. Let your iPad remain on the charger for at least an hour. It may take that long before it responds if the battery is completely dead. If using the charger that came with your iPad there are several reasons it may fail to charge.
Bad outlet. Make sure the Utsler has power.
Bad charger. Try a different charger.
Bad cable. Try a different cable.
Dirt in the connector. Check and clean if necessary.
Hardware failure. Make an appointment at an Apple Store to have your device examined by a technician. Or contact Apple Support.
