Can I no longer browse classes in interface builder?

in tiger, I used to be able to browse classes in interface builder, and from their I could create subclasses, and create actions and outlets. then I could create files for the classes from the classes menu. then when I went back to xcode I would have empty class file templates that I could then write the methods for.
also, I could easily instantiate my class via the classes menu.
alas, now I cannot find these features. have they dissappeared entirely? is there an equivilant way to do this?

I found that disturbing too...
However the system changed completely. You can no longer define the super-class directly in Interface Build, however you can still define classes there with IBOutlets and IBActions.
First, to instantiate a blue cube as a custom object, simply drag a blue cube from the Library windows inside : Library --> Cocoa --> Objects & Controllers --> Controllers.
To set the class, go in Identity inspector (CMD + 6) here you'll be able to define the class name, its outlets and its actions, you can even define the action argument type (sender) here, however, weirdly, they took the ability to add the colon directly at the of the method name, so you'll have to add it yourself.
However, Apple documentation advise you to add methods and outlets directly in Xcode and not in IB, "Whenever you want to create a new controller class, or add an outlet or action to an existing class, do it in Xcode."
Indeed, if IB is opened at the same time, it will update the class's outlets and actions directly, Xcode and IB are more binded together than before.

  • Can I upload apps made with xcode Interface Builder to the App Store

Like my title says Can I upload apps made with xcode Interface Builder to the App Store? I'm currently making an app with the interface builder from xcode and I was wondering if I could upload it like that to the App Store.
    Please help me with this.

    Hi seba,
In order to be able to submit apps to the App Store, you need these things:
    1. An Apple ID
    2. Join the Mac developer program ($99) https://developer.apple.com/programs/mac/
Once you've got these, you're free to submit your created applications to the App Store. It should walk you through the process

  • Load Class in Interface Builder 3

    Hello,
i am trying to get started with Cocoa after having worked a while with Xcode & smaller AppleScript based projects.
As my idea was to create a menubar-based (NSStatusItem) service app for myself i started with this tutorial:
    http://files.semaja2.net/NSStatusItem%20-%20ObjC.html
Unfortunaly it seems like there was a change in Interface Builder regarding loading Classes from Version 2 to IB version 3
The tutorial tells me to (about the middle of the tutorial):
Rename the “NSMenu1” to “StatusItem”, following this in “Interface Builder” >>choose from the menu “Classes > Read Files..” now select the AppController.h >>file, Once the file has been read it should change out project view to “Classes” >>from here find the AppController item and right click on it and select >>“Instantiate AppController”:
I was able to follow the tutorial until there without problems but it looks like the Classes-Tab is gone in IB 3.x.
So i feel somehow unable to finish this small tutorial.
how would i do this step in Interface Builder 3.x ?
    Any help is heavily appreciated.
    Best regards

You're right, this has changed. I'm currently using IB 3.1.1 but I believe the changes appeared in IB 3.
Once you've done the "Read class files" and selected your AppController.h file IB should know about your class.
In order to instantiate your AppController in IB first go to the Library window and find the "NSObject" (it will appear as a blue cube). Drag one of these NSObject's from the Library window and drop it into your MainMenu.xib window along with the other icons that appear there (File's Owner, First Responder, Application... etc).
Now you will have created an instance of an NSObject in your MainMenu.xib file. And, since your AppController class is a subclass of NSObject (and IB knows this since you've had it read in your AppController.h file) you can now change this NSObject instance into an instance of your AppController.
Select the NSObject icon in the MainMenu.xib window then go to IB's Inspector window and click on the next to last icon in the top tool bar. This should change the Inspector window's title bar to say "Object Identity" and the Class Identity in the first text field should be set to NSObject. You should be able to type "AppController" into this field (or click the popup and it should show up in the popup list. Once you've done this it will transform the NSObject instance into an AppController instance.
You'll see another slight difference between IB 3.x and the tutorial when you do the <Control>-Drag between items to connect up the outlets and actions. Instead of finalizing the connections in the Inspector window like the tutorial says you'll get a small popup window right next to the item you're connecting to that will list the available outlets/actions you can connect to. Simply click the one you want. You can still double-check your connections in the inspector window though.

  • Can't connect to server "Cannot load Interface Builder File "NSAlertPanel"

all of a sudden, one of my Macs cannot connect to our server due to this error in the Console:
NetAuthAgent [ 128 ] Cannot load Interface Builder File 'NSAlertPanel'
This is on a MacPro running 10.6.4 - rebooting this computer didn't help.
My searches on Google regarding this message didn't pull results related to connecting to a server.
The error appears when in the Finder and you type Command + K or if you select Go in the menu and then select "Connect to Server". The "Connecting to Server" window does appear but it just sits there like it's trying to connect to our server. The login window should appear but it doesn't.
This happens both with AFP and SMB - it never connects and that error message i posted shows up in the Console whenever I attempt to connect.
    Any ideas?
more info: i logged in as Root and the problem isn't there so it's isolated to the other profile. the problem is, i can't always use the Root profile.

I would recommend the usual basic troubleshooting:
    1) Repair Permissions in Disk Utility, then reboot.
    If that doesn't work,
    2) Re-apply the latest Combo Update in safe mode (boot while holding shift).

    Hi Sathya,
It may be that your services are not active.
Go to transaction code SICF and look (do a search) for the following:
Services UR and SEM_UPWB. They should be bold. If not, right-click and select activate in order to activate them.

  • I am new to xCode and SDK Disks. My Interface Builder will not work and 'quit's unexpecteldy'. What can I do? I really want to create an applicaiton. Thanks

Hi, I am a new user to xCode and just recently downloaded a SDK Disk image and also an older version of xCode from the Apple Developer site. I opened the 'Interface Builder' for the first time and it worked. Next, when I tried to open it again (with and without the xCode 'Mainmenu.xib' attachment file from xCode) it kept showing the message "it quit unexpectedly".
I need to create an application for a project I am working on. If anyone who can resolve my problem of why the Interface Builder is not working, that will be great.
If you need additional details (like which versions etc.) please ask, for I am desperate to find an adequate solution to this problem.
    Thanks.

If you need additional details (like which versions etc.) please ask, for I am desperate to find an adequate solution to this problem.
Without intending any disrespect, if you had suspected these would be questions and if you're in a hurry for an answer, then why did you exclude the information?  And yes, knowing the Mac OS X version (preferably Mac OS X 10.5.8 or 10.6.7) , as well as the Xcode version might shed some light on this.  Might.  And I'll presume there's a specific reason you downloaded what I will assume is an Xcode3 version.
Was this an existing Xcode project, or did you start with a new project here?  If it's an existing project, it could well have a corruption or an incompatibility.
Initially, I'd probably start with a new project, and load in newly-copied source files.  On the off chance the project is corrupted.
Failing that, I'd deinstall Xcode using the documented procedures, and would then reload it.  If there was an old version of Xcode around on the system, sometimes wonky stuff can happen with an installation.
And FWIW, the Apple Developer Forums and the Apple mailing lists tend to see far more developer-related traffic than do these particular forums.  (There's an Xcode users' mailing list around which sees regular traffic, too.)

  • Make a button do something Xcode/interface builder

How can i make a button placed in interface builder do something

Well, that isn't much better - I am going to guess that your application is for Mac OS X in Objective-C.  Since something like a button is pretty basic, you either need some help with Xcode, or a conversion from some other programming language you know, or both.
There is a basic button tutorial here that uses the older Xcode (there shouldn't be much difference), although you should look at getting Xcode 4.2 (free from the AppStore), since that is what is current.
I don't do much in Obj-C so I can't help with good books, but Apple has a few documents on its developer site that should get you started (although most of their documentation has moved on to Xcode 4.

  • FAQ: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?

Q: Can I edit my photos in revel from the browser or android interface?
A: At this point (Feb 2013) you can not edit the photos in Revel unless you are using the Mac, iPhone, or iPad app version of Revel. We are continuing to add new features and intend to add new platforms and file types in the future.
If you have the app loaded on an iPad, iTouch, or Mac, see this  link to learn how to edit:
FAQ: How do I edit photos in Revel?

There isn't an Aperture or iPhoto app for the iPad (it comes with a basic Photos apps which is effectively just a viewer), and the photo editing apps that do exist are fairly basic : cropping, brightness, rotation, straightening etc e.g. the free Photoshop Express app from Adobe (which also has an in-app purchase option). You can use the iPad for reviewing photos but if you tend to do extensive editing then it's probably not suitable.

  • Can no longer browse my office Network since Leopard Upgrade

When i click on the network icon at the office i can no longer browse the network. I am not sure why but there is nothing in that Network icon. Not other computers or anything.
Is this a setting that i need to change?

For anyone who may have this problem in the future, I thought I would post a reply myself on how I solved this problem.
The problem turned out to be my router. In the middle of the night I had an idea, so I rebooted my router & switches & now ALL the computers (even the Windoze ones) show up!

  • Why can I no longer play mp4 from browser?

I was at work on 3g connection and noticed I could no longer browser my webserver directories and click to play mp4 files produced from my Axis 207 network camera...this used to work (at least over wifi).
I got home and tried via wifi with same results "video cannot be played". I have done nothing to these video files on my webserver and their resolution is the same (640x480).
Is anybody aware of what is causing this? I haven't connected to iTunes for some time to get updates...so this isn't the issue.

    Well...it's back.
After finally updating my iphone to latest OS I notice that I cannot play MP4s again from mobile safari.
I am using 2-way https (client and server auth) and can get to apache web server dir listing fine where videos are shown.
When I click on an mp4 file (readable by all once you auth) the video player comes up (so it is detecting file type) and then I get the message "video cannot be played".
I have rebooted the phone eliminating any "cached page" issues.
This is a bummer because the only reason I bought the iPhone was for watching videos from my Axis security cameras. Nothing has chnaged in the Axis camera configuraion and it is delivering 640x480 mp4 vids same as before.
    Any ideas?

  • Can no longer browse network after updates

I finally got the Migration from SBS 2003 to Server 2012R2 standard finished but after updates I can no longer browse network from the server, it was working fine before the 52 updates went on.
I have checked computer browser is running, DNS is working, check FDRP is running.
Have Googled many articles regarding this and tried a lot of the solutions to no avail.

    Hi,
On current situation, please also refer to following steps and check something more.
    1. Please check if NetBIOS over TCP/IP is enabled.
    2. Please temporarily disable Firewall and monitor the result.
    3.
àI have checked computer browser is running
Please temporarily stop Computer Browser service and then re-start it. Any difference?
    4. Please follow the path: Control Panel-> Network and Sharing Center-> Change advanced sharing settings, then check if turn on
Network discovery and File and printer sharing.
    Meanwhile, would you please run
net view command and let me know the result? (Please hide all protected or private information.)
If any update, please feel free to let me know.
    Hope this helps.

  • Can no longer browse TV shows

Since I updated to iTunes 6.0.5 I can no longer browse TV shows in the iTunes store. In the browse window, when I highlight TV shows, it tells me to select a genre. But there are none listed. It works fine if I highlight something else like music videos or audio books, but no TV shows. Is this my problem or a problem with the iTunes store itself?

I think it was a problem with the iTunes site. They fixed it within a day or two, and I've never had the problem again.

  • Can we type cast class into interface?

    Hello all,
Can we type cast class into interface?
If it can ,pls explain me in which suituation can we do?

You don't need to explicitly typecast a class to an interface, if the class is implementing the interface.
Example: List list = new ArrayList();    // Cast not required. And search on Google first. I'm sure this question would be answered by the lamest of tutorials.

  • Upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer minimize browser window by double-clicking title bar. Please advise!

I recently upgraded to Firefox 29.0 (Mac) and can now no longer my minimize browser window into the dock by double-clicking the title bar. I need to be able to use this feature. Please advise!

I just upgraded to iTunes 8.0.1.11 too (XP) and am seeing the same behavior. The little mini controller in the taskbar no longer works. If you double click the icon in the system tray, you can restore the iTunes window.
On the Advanced preferences tab, select both the "Show iTunes icon in system tray"
and the "Minimize iTunes window to system tray" checkboxes. If only the "Show iTunes icon in system tray" is selected, you will not be able to restore the iTunes window and will have to use the task manager to kill iTunes.
Hope this gets fixed, I found the task bar controller very handy for pausing/starting/volume control/etc.

  • Compilation Error: "class or interface expected" for simple EAR???

    Dear all,
I have access to the customers NW CE 7.1 SP07 and of course I am using the corresponding NWDS 7.1 SP07 that comes with this CE installation. I am trying to study JEE 5 @ SAP and I have created a very simple Application (from the Book http://www.sap-press.de/katalog/buecher/titel/gp/titelID-1480).
In NWDS I have created the following 4 projects:
    1. Dictionary Project
    Describes 2 Tables (TMP_EMPLOYEES and TMP_ID_GEN)
    2. EJB 5 Project
Contains a stateless EJB + local business interface + Entity class.
The EJB accesses the entity class, which is mapped to a simple table (TMP_EMPLOYEES).
    3. Dynamic Web Project
Contains actually only one JSP (index.jsp) which allows to the local business interface for creating a new Entity.
    4. Enterprise Application Project (EAR)
    Creates a package from 2. and 3.
I have successfully deployed both the Dictionary Project and the EAR (all to the same server).
But If I call the corresponding URL via web browser I get the following error:
    500   Internal Server Error
"Error in compiling [/EmployeeWeb/index.jsp] in application [sap.com/EmployeeEar]."
Details: "The WebApplicationException log ID is [005056841108002A00000070000007AC0139C8D8862D3EED]."
In the "Log Viewer" of the "SAP NetWeaver Administrator" (via browser...) I have found the following:
Message: Processing HTTP request to servlet [jsp] finished with error.
The error is: com.sap.engine.services.servlets_jsp.server.jsp.exceptions.CompilingException: Error in executing the compilation process: [ Compilation Failed! Exit Code=1

As you can see there is some compilation error, it says 3 times "'class' or 'interface' expected". If i remove all the relevant EJB java code from my index.jsp everything works fine. So I guess there must be some problem with finding the resources. Unfortunately this "logging" is not helpful at all (thank you SAP!). In NWDS everything is fine no problems at all!!!
Who can help me here with this?
    Thanks in Advance

    I have found the issue.
in the index.jsp I have the following lines:
    <!-- Import Statements -->
    <%@ page import="javax.naming.InitialContext" %>
    <%@ page import="com.sap.demo.session.EmployeeServicesLocal;" %>
    Now check the end of the second import ==> ;
Removing the semicolon solves the issue. But the SAP error message is still not very helpful to me.
