Canada sells unlocked iPhone 5's. Why not check this out for yourself by going to the Apple store website and then changing the country to Canada?
You can't purchase it from the store online though - you'll have to travel directly to Canada yourself to buy it because there is no international shipping available.

To buy from the Apple USA online store, you will need a credit card with a USA billing address - you cannot use a foreign credit card with a foreign billing address associated with it. While you can ship to a hotel address in care of your name, you must make sure the Hotel will accept the package for you and secure it for you. You may have other problems with that too. if Apple cannot verify the address or anything about it makes them suspect a forwarding agent,they may refuse to ship to that address.

You can send it to someone you know in the US to have them take it in for service or you can get on a plane and take it there yourself. You can not ship it to Apple in the US for service.

They will simply use Migration Assistant to transfer your Home folder, third-party applications and support files, and system preferences. This is something you could do yourself. You would need a Firewire cable to connect between your old computer and your new one. Migration Assistant is installed in the Utilities folder of your new computer.

Nothing works and its clear this is an annoying and frustrating problem for Apple users so perhaps some Apple Genius can offer a fix

Same with a one week old store-bought ipad mini 6.1.3 backed up to icloud.
Basically it looks like Apple has introduced globally a bug in their notification center software with no known solution, every app using notification center throws a pop up on startup. All I find on this forum are overkill solutions like reinstalling/rolling back the os, which no real user should to be forced to do for a minor bug of this nature.
Maybe enough complaints will motivate the notification center developers to fix this. If I have a chance, I might go by one of the apple stores and see what their techs have to say about it.

Thanks for the thought... ordered direct from Apple. I'm on AT&T, so I called them to work through their network. They said they couldn't help me until I cancelled my orders through Apple. Talked to an Apple store rep, and they said they had a customer that tried that - cancelled orders, then drove to store only to find they were not eligible for an upgrade. She called AT&T, and they had no solution, and said that sometimes it takes 48 to 72 hours for the system to reinstate upgrade eligibility.....I would have originally ordered from AT&T, but couldn't get into their website, so ordered through Apple - mistake.

your bound to get a long line up where ever you are near an official apple store, but if youtr planning on getting by one of your carreirs it depends where you live as i was able to get iphone on the day it was released at my carriers store, though im exploring other options atm, whether it worth buying it out on apple store, work out my average data usage and just buy data packs for like $5 - $20, but no idea what atm.

Victory Can Be Pre-Ordered not showing in my purchase history

I pre-ordered Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare last week, for the Xbox One, but in my purchase history, it does not show the 500 point "Victory Can Be Pre-ordered" bonus A.K.A. the $10 reward certificate you would recieve for pre-ordering the game. I was curious why this is... I pre-ordered Sunset Overdrive, and the victory reward bonus shows for that game. Both were in the $10 pre-order reward section. Any help?

It typically takes 15-20 days for base points and pre-order bonuses to post, so you won't necessarily see an entry for your Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare purchase quite yet. The points associated with the pre-order bonus certificate may also not appear as pending and instead simply be available for use at the end of that timeframe.
If you still haven't seen records of either the purchase or your pre-order bonus certiciate at the end of 20 days, let us know and we'd be glad to look into the situation on your behalf at that time.

I am not opposed to standing in line for one...but not sure how probable it is that you would actually get one. Because at that point, if you don't get one there, the preorder online is going to be out for a month. In that case you would have been better waiting the extra couple days for delivery instead of now waiting 3-4 weeks.

"Victory can be pre-ordered" missing points

on Oct 23rd i preordered two games on bestbuy.com. Sunset overdrive (xbox one) and Call of Duty: Advance warfare (PS4). Both games were eligible for the "Victory can be pre-ordered" bonus points yet when i look at my purchase history it would appear that only sunset overdrive received the bonus points.
I had sunset overdrive delivered to me by mail. Call of duty, I chose to pick up at a store. I tried to call 888 best buy, but 888 best buy is just horrible. Everytime i call its over a 20 minute wait, I get someone who barely speaks english and after 30 or more minutes of trying to explain what im calling about the representative tried to tell me that because i preordered both games on the same receipt that only one game gets the bonus points. I debated that i am able to preorder as many different titles as i like on one receipt and as long as they are eligible for the promotion i should get it for each one. she then stated she would "transfer" to the elite plus hotline which resulted in the call being disconnected.
Who should i contact in regards to the missing points. I remember in the past there was a specific way to email representatives that handled reward zone issues but I did not see that option anywhere in the mybestbuy account. nor could i find the exclusive number elite plus members should call if they have any concerns. any and all information is greatly appreciated as well as your time and consideration regarding this matter.

You'll want to look for an adjustment that says either "Get $10" or "Victory Can Be Pre-Ordered" for each game.

Victory Can Be Pre-ordered - Master Chief Collection

Hey all,
On 10/29, I pre-ordered Halo: The Master Chief Collection as part of the "Victory Can Be Pre-ordered" promotion. It would be the fourth or fifth game I've pre-ordered with the promotion.
Unlike the other games, MCC isn't showing up in my purchase history with the "Victory Can Be Preordered Bonus" 500 points under the points for the purchase.
Any ideas why?

The associated points may also never appear as pending, and instead simply be listed on/around the original order date once that timeframe has passed. Check your purchase history to download previous purchases. Also you can check on your computer in your iTunes folder to see if the purchase has been downloaded. If you find it there you should be able to double click it and it should open in iTunes.
