Can I run LabVIEW DSC on Fieldpoint real time processor?

I want to use the Fieldpoint real-time processor as an OPC server on the network. Can I run DSC runtime on the Fieldpoint processor?

There are two separate questions here. One, can a FieldPoint Real-Time Controller act as an OPC Server, and two, can the DSC Run-time engine be downloaded into the FP-20XX controller. The answer to both questions is no.
The FieldPoint RT modules are running a Real-Time OS, they are not running any version of Microsoft Windows. The OPC Specification is based upon Microsoft's DCOM model which is built into Microsoft Operating Systems. This does not exist in the built-in OS and thus the FieldPoint unit can not be an OPC Server. However, a host PC running Windows can have an OPC Server on it that in turn publishes all of the data from the FP-20XX module.
Can the DSC run-time be loaded into a FP-20XX? No, it was never designed for it and would not fit in the mod
ule.

LabVIEW 7.x will run without any problems on a Windows Tablet PC with SP1. There have been documented issues with Windows XP SP2 and LabVIEW subsequently not exiting properly--LabVIEW's window closes but somehow it is still present in the task manager.

If you are using LabVIEW 5.1.2 Real-Time (RT), launch Remote System Explorer and select Disks >> Create Format Hard Drive Disk. If you have LabVIEW 6 RT, launch the Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and select Tools >> RT PXI Disk Utilities >> Create Format Hard Drive Disk (LabVIEW RT 6 has not be released yet). Once you have created the disk, boot the PXI controller with the Format Hard Drive Disk, and this will format the PXI's hard drive and install the real-time OS boot loader. Now you can reboot the PXI without a floppy disk and configure the PXI using Remote System Explorer or MAX. Be aware that this will remove all information from the hard drive, including other operating systems.

We can't read access log file in real-time. If access log is rotation to new file so can read access log file but can't read real-time.

what's your meaning? try this command "tail -f access.log".
Threre is a buffer about 8K for WebLogic to write the access info into the log files, so you can't see the access info untill the buffer is full.

thanks for your answer. Yes indeed HTML widgets run only full screen (snif snif). I consider this as a "distinguishing treatment".
One solution i read !!!!! was to create through keynote a countdown clock, to export to quicktime move and to imported at iBA predefined widgets. of course this is not the solution i need.
So, in order to have at the same widget and run together a count down clock and a preview test (20 questions) i must
1)"hack" the preview widget and insert a countdown clock
2) create a preview test using iAD.....

Basically, anything that will run on XP should run on XP Embedded. I am
presently running LabVIEW applications on XP Embedded. Windows CE is a
totally different operating system and will not presently run LabVIEW (NI
should verify this but I'm fairly sure this is true). You'll have to ask NI
when this will change but I think there will be CE support in the future.
XP Embedded should run on any PC that XP will run on but if you stick with
better known brands and components you'll have an easier time building your
XP application. Your speed should be similar to regular XP but your hard
drive space is usually a lot less because you strip out as much of the
operating system as you want. I am running on bootable CDs without any hard
drive.

See this posting on the same subject. I think the biggest issue will be your old drivers for NI-DAQ and GPIB if you're using them.

FieldPoint real-time controller or Ethernet interface

Good Afternoon,
The first feature listed on the FP-2000 product page is:
Stand-alone embedded real-time controller or Ethernet interface for PC-based distributed I/O.
Has anybody successfully implented a FP-2000 as an Ethernet interface for PC-based distributed I/O? In other words, have the FP-2000 act like a FP-1600?
There are some discussion forum threads that dance around the subject but I have not found one that really answers it.

After playing around with a FP-2010 for a while, I do believe that you need to install LabVIEW Real-Time on the controller in order for it to work, even if you are technically not using it because you are not running a VI/executable on the controller. As far as your issue with installing LabVIEW 8.5.1 on a FP-2000, that is troubling because there should not be an issue doing this at all. In fact, I have personally been able to install LabVIEW 8.5.1 on many FP-2000s. For that issue, I would suggest reformatting the FP-2000 from MAX and try again.
ThinkG: Regarding your question about using a cFP-2220 to communicate with Lookout, I am not sure because Lookout support is handled by our Shanghai branch via email only. However, I do know that you can use that second ethernet port to communicate with another FieldPoint network module (cFP-180x) using the FieldPoint drivers. Here are a couple good KnowledgeBase articles regarding that configuration. I hope they are helpful.

I am trying to translate the labview program to a real time labview programming....i wan to know what te the main isse that i need to focus on

currently i am doing a lift monitoring system which made use of labview. Due to time constraint, i have decided to use the real time labview program. However i have no prior experience on the real time programmng, can i be enlighten on the main issue and what are the thing i ned to look out for. is thre any documentation that i can use?

Programming for LabVIEW Real-Time is very similar to programming for LabVIEW for Windows. Many VIs do not need to be changed in order to run in LabVIEW Real-Time RT Engines. However, here are some issues to consider:
1) Drivers
2) File I/O
3) Dialog Boxes
4) Shared resources
1) Drivers. If you application was written in LabVIEW for Windows, and then ported to run on an RT Engine on RT Series Hardware, you need to be sure that the drivers you are using are supported on your platform. 2) File I/O: If you are running your programs on an RT Series DAQ Device, it has no storage device, so file I/O operations will crash. See KB 26FBO0KN:

File I/O on RT PXI Controllers is supported in 8.3 filename format (no spaces in the filename allowed).

However, the RT Engine runs headless with no keyboard, monitor (limited information displayed), or mouse, so any user interaction previously required by your VIs, such as Dialog boxes, will hang or crash your program. 4) Even though your programs now run in a real-time operating system, you need to follow good real-time programming techniques. These include: using multithreading with critical tasks set to time critical priority. One time critical VI with no parallel loops. Shared resources include the memory manager (preallocate arrays used in time critical loops), global variables for interthread communcation (use RT Queues). If you want to see the data update quicker, you can decrease the value in the "Samples to Read" field of your DAQ Assistant. This number controls when data is transferred from the DAQ buffer to the PC. If the sampling frequency remains the same, but this field decreases, it means the buffered data will be returned more quickly.

How can I run other applications at the same time as downloading email

When I open my computer if I check mail on entourage first and there are 30+ messages I can not use other apps at the same time as the mail is downloading, is there a way to have email operating in the background. Curiously if I am using another application and a mail comes in , the first app runs with mail running in the background , Why is this not the case when Entourage is the first program running and it is downloading mail.

How can I change a Mixer filter in real-time? (11.5)

Hi all,
I'm currently coding (or trying to code) an interactive soundboard that users can play with in their software. They can turn inputs on and off, increase the volume, change the EQ, etc. The nice is, and I was really pleased to discover this, Director already has a feature called an 'Audio Mixer' that has filters to satisfy all these functionalities! The bad thing, I can't figure out how to change these filters in real time.
For example, here's the code to MUTE a specific mixer (activated when the user toggles a button):

But how do I tell it go INTO that mixer, find the existing High Pass Filter, and change the value of that High Pass Filter's 'highCutOffFreq' property? It's a classic case of knowing exactly what I need to tell the code to do, but I have no idea of the SYNTAX of actually telling it to do that.
I hate to be 'that guy', but it is somewhat urgent. This is for a college assignment due Wednesday (yikes!). I didn't quite know what I was getting myself into with this code, but the end is in sight if I can figure out how to write this particular code.
Many gratuitous thanks in advance for any assistance!
PS: It won't be enough to simply add a new filter to the list. The user needs to be able to turn a dial up or down to increase or decrease the High Pass Filter, in conjunction with several other dials manipulating other filters. I need to be able to actually change what the filter's value is.

The problem is that I think that I changed the "default" name for the state where the photos were taken. I have 50 differents locations, that are all correct, and photo per photo, I can modify the original location, but only at "local" level.
How can I change the name displayed in State section as "Casa David i Mireia" for "Catalunya" that is the real name for the State where the photos where taken?
I don't if this post is comprehensive. I'm not sure.

          (asynchronous) and batch.
          I'm proposing to use a pool of MDBs reading of a single JMS queue. The
          max-free-beans-in-pool would be used to limit the concurrent access to
          the backend system.
          Can JMSPriority be used to distinguish between the different kinds of
          workloads? (real-time, near real-time and batch)
          How is the JMSPriority used when consuming messages from a queue in WLS
          JMS? Are messages dequeued in strict priority order or is there an
          algorithm to ensure lower priority messages are periodically consumed,
          i.e. to ensure they are not starved-out? Or do you have to create a
          message selector to dequeue based on priority?
          Is the an appropriate use of JMSPriority or should I set-up dedicated
          JMS queues for each of the different workload types?

Can I edit multiclips, but NOT in real time?

I love multiclip editing, but right now I've got 5 angles that were shot without a director calling the shots, so any given edit can require some real decision-making. I often must choose between the lesser of 5 evils, so-to-speak, and I can't really do that in real time.
Is the multiclip function "pause-able?" Can I edit on the fly for a few cuts, pause the process to scrub around for a minute and make a edit decision, and then continue in real time?

If you simply need cutaway shots...
I'll usually set up my multiclip on V1, the activate the V2 track for 'cut-ins'.
I can easily place the playhead over an 'active angle' of the camera I want to utilize, then hit the 'f' key. This will 'find' that point on the original clip, from which I can quickly scrub back and forth to find what I want and drop it on V2.
I've set up a 'quick-key' for the Gang/Open on my '/' key, so I can just hit that after dropping the shot on V2, which gets me back to multiclip functionality.
Once the edit is locked, collapse V1, then select all shots on V2 and shift-drag them down to V1.
Not sure that's what you're looking for exactly, but it works for me. BTW, I make it a habit to only cut a few shots, then stopping, then carrying on. This way you don't lose shots that you like when the 'cuts' are set.
