Can I send my photos by email without a .Mac account?

Got my first digital camera, got them into iPhoto but can't send them by email as I get Error message: "This message could not be delivered and will remain in your Outbox until it can be delivered. The server "mailhost.worldnet.att.net" refused to allow a connection on port 587," or sometimes, "The connection to the server, etc. . . . on port 587 timed out." I've gone to Mail Preferences and when I tried to "add" I only get the option to become a .Mac subscriber, which I don't want to do. This has happened previously with automatic replies to some businesses which only want to send replies by Mail. I use Safari consistently and don't see why I have to pay to send replies or now, my photos, to someone. Do I have other options or should I be asking AT&T these questions? Thanks for any easy-to-understand help.

You do not need .Mac in order to send photos by e-mail. It sounds like you use ATT as you internet provider. Have you configured Apple Mail to be able to send e-mail yet? Can you send an e-mail text message OK?
If you haven't yet gotten Mail configured to work with your ATT account a quick call to ATT should give you all the information you need. Setting up Mail is easy.
Post back with further questions.

Steve M.

  • I can't send a photo by email.  When I try it wants a "sender Verification" which I do not have.

I can't send an email.  When I try, it wants a "sender verification" url, but I don't have it.  I tried resend, but do not receive an email.  The email a photo part of elements appears not to work.  Seems like a very flawed program.

The sender verification code is sent to the email id (specified by user when he selects 'Adobe mail services'). Search for your inbox (and spam folder too) for an email from [email protected] Once you have it, enter in the dialog which asks for verification code and you are good to go.

  • Can't send a photo by email/icloud

I have just upgraded to Lion/iCloud. I am trying to send a photo with an email. Photostream is on. But I am being told that 'The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination'. I don't know  what the problem is and how to put it right.

I found the answer on here - courtesy of someone else but cannot find the link to credit their effort - but followed these instructions exactly and my email now works.  It seems that the smtp server (which sends emails, rather than receives them: included for those with limited knowledge) settings during the transition from Mobile Me to iCloud may be wrong and this fixes it (or did for me).
I am assuming you know that you can gain access to your Mail server settings via Mail/Preferences/Accounts.
Step 1: change your iCloud password via the iCloud website to one which is at least 8 letters long and includes one capital letter, one lower case letter and one number.  This was a bit sticky as I had to retry using my @mac.com and @me.com addresses until I got it right by trial and error.  (You will then have to reinput the password for Messages, FaceTime, iCloud etc on all your iDevices but only once)
    Step 2:
    Go to Mail
Click on 'Outgoing Mail Server' dropdown list (on the right) and select 'edit SMTP server list'.
Delete your iCloud server using the '-' sign at the bottom, then select '+' to add one and name it e.g. iCloud
The settings must be (these are available by clicking the 'Advanced' button):
    server name: smtp.mail.me.com
    SSL required: yes
Port 587 (check this is listed as a default port and use default ports is ticked)
    authentification: password
username: [email protected] where example is your username - i.e. @me.com address from iCloud
    password: your iCloud password
If you receive errors using SSL, use TLS instead (I have not tried this as I have not needed to)
    Summary:
I have synthesised the helpful advice from three different contributors to get this to work but it now works (I have checked by sending large photographs several times)  I hope that it works for you.  Apart from synthesising the contributions, I regret that I cannot claim credit for this solution and cannot give thanks to those that came up with the solutions as I have lost/forgotten the links from which I got them: if you are one of those unsung heroes, then thanks from me.

  • HT204476 iPhoto to Photo update: Can not send attached photos via email!

What in the world happened to the send by email option that was so user friendly in iPhoto and missing in Photo? I can't attach photos from my email client (gmail) either...Any suggestions?

I'm sorry for the confusion. I understand completely how gmail works, that's not the issue. I only included that info as a possible referenc. To be more specific, sharing photos from iPhoto was easy. Options to share using message, email, Facebook, etc were always available. Now that Photo has replaced IPhoto, my share are similar HOWEVER, the option to send or attach via email is not available / blocked out. Does this help?

  • How can I send a photo through messaging without using photo stream?

Ever since I updated my phone I can't send a pic without photo streaming and not everyone has an iPhone so I can't send pics to everyone I want to/

Well, if you have iOS 6 on your iPhone 4, and click on a photo in your photo library, then click the "share" button in the lower left, you see these options:
    Mail
    Message
Photo Stream (OK, you don't want that one)
    Twitter
    Facebook
[4 other options not directly related to electronic sharing]
So I would say you have a plethora of options.

  • Purchasing photos in iPhoto without a .mac account

Is it possible to purchase photos, books and cards through iphoto without having a .Mac account. I have friends with a new iMac, they have no use for a .Mac account. They just want to purchase photos, cards and books via iPhoto. They have actually created some cards and books but when they try to purchase it asks for their .Mac account.
Powermac G5, MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.2.x)

You don't need one of those $99 .Mac accounts for purchasing, but you do have to set up a .Mac ID (free) so you can tie it to a credit card which will be used for purchasing prints and books.
If they buy from iTunes, or even the online Apple Store, they might already have an account set up for them.
The $99 .Mac account is a premium service that gives you email, webspace and some online tools as well as iWeb integration. If you already have that, then you can set up your purchasing using the same account as an ID, but you don't need to be a subscriber.

  • After Leopard upgrade can't send mail in Apple Mail with dot mac account.

Just upgraded to Leopard and now I can't send mail through Apple Mail. Checked smtp and that's OK. How do I check what ports are open? That may be the problem. I looked at the Apple trouble shooting page and did everything there except the port check.
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Lou

Fixed my own problem. I put in the SMTP address but didn't save. Once I saved it worked.

  • Can't send or delete an email in Office: Mac/Outlook

I know this isn't a purely Apple question, but I have nowhere else to turn. Microsoft has the lousiest website and customer support on the planet.
In Office: Mac, Outlook, for some reason. there is a hidden email (that doesn't appear in my Drafts folder) that I cannot locate or delete. Every time I click my Send/Receive button, it tries to send the file, then I get this error message.  This has been occurring for weeks, and I can't find the email to delete it. Any solutions?

  • Every time I send a photo via email, I have to type in my password.  I'd like to disable that.

I can't seem to send a photo via email without having to type in my password.  Can I disable that?

    Hello, olyhank.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here is an article that will walk you through some troubleshooting steps for this issue.  Start with the attached section in the article below.
Tip: If you see a sheet or dialog that states 'Enter the password for user "email address'", this indicates that the email service provider is having an issue with the password being sent by Mail, or there is an issue with the email account. Contact the email service provider for support. ChooseWindow > Connection Doctor click "Show Detail" then click "Check Again". The information displayed in the "Show Detail" drawer may include details from the email service provider about what the issue is. Look for headers that start with "[ALERT]".

You just publish to a folder instead of to .Mac and then upload with an ftp program. Here are some tips:

  • How can I send multiple photos in an email?

How can I send multiple photos in an email?

In Photos, when looking at your pictures, click the Action arrow first (upper right), before selecting any pictures.  Then you can tap select the pictures you want to send then click "Share" in the upper left.  From there you can Email.
If you click and open one picture first, the Action button will only allow you to share that one picture.
(Yeah, took me a while to figure this out. )

  • I can receive emails from three different accounts but can't send a photo. It says the server doesn't allow relaying???

I can receive emails from three different accounts but can't send a photo from them. It says the server doesn't allow relaying???

I have a hard time describing this exactly, so I copied this from another thread. This seems to be a recent issue with AOL email accounts on the iPad the past few days. I have two AOL accounts and they work fine. See if this works for you.
+If you cannot send, under the smtp server your user name and password must be entered even though the prompt tells you it is optional.  As a mobile device the port used is different from the one I would normally use if at home and therefore validation is required by use of the password.  The normal port for the smtp server is 110 but to use on a mobile unit like the iPad port 587 is used.+
The big thing is to make sure that your username and password are filled in - Select your email account in the Mail setting and tap on the arrow next to the smtp server under the Outgoing Mail Server and then tap on the arrow next to smtp server under the Primary Server and fill in the information in there.
Some times you have to resort to deleting the account and starting over again.

    Can anyone please advise ?????

when trying to send a photo via email, I am prompted to setup an email account even though email is already setup.  What would cause this?  Better yet, how do I fix it?

I have checked this on my device.  I see a Default account under Messages created outside of Mail will be sent from the default account.  There is an account selected, though it does not show my exchnage account.  If it is only an exchange accout, can that not be used for this?
