Can I undo iCloud Drive? I can't access my Pages docs on iMac 10.9.5 since recent upgrade, unless I also upgrade to OS X Yosemite.  I don't need iCloud for docs.

Hi ..
Unfortunately, you're stuck between a rock and a hard place until Yosemite is released this fall. Hopefully sometime in October.

    Hello Sunil Gubbi,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand that you'd like to know on how to access your files on iCloud Drive.  Please take a look at the information below on how to access the files.
You can access your files in iCloud Drive any of these ways:
Using any supported web browser, you can go to iCloud Drive or iWork for iCloud beta at iCloud.com. In iWork for iCloud beta, you can find your Pages, Numbers, and Keynote files.
On your Mac with OS X Yosemite, you can go to iCloud Drive in Finder.
On your PC with Windows 7 or later and iCloud for Windows 4.0, you can go to iCloud Drive in File Explorer.
On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 8, you can access your files from Apple apps like Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, or any apps that support iCloud Drive.

  • How do I 'upload' files to iCloud Drive from my iPad outside of Pages/Numbers/Keynote?

I want to get files off of my iPad (only 16GB!), specifically photos, PDFs and documents and be able to access them from iCloud when I need them
I don't see an app for iCloud Drive
Nor do I see apps that I would use for PDFs and documents such as Acrobat Reader from which I can store files in iCloud
    Help please

Looks like this has been solved by yesterdays IOS8 update - thanks!

  • Can't access my Pages docs in iCloud

Tried to open a doc I've been working on for a week. Pages icon unresponsive. It's active (little white dot) but nothing comes up on the screen. After multiple tries (a dozen) it showed a doc list but clicking on doc made the listing go away. No doc opened. Tried other docs, same thing. Don't have Numbers or other iWork apps so can't try those. "Open Recent" shows doc list but won't open them either.

I have 10.8.5 and do have iCloud. The problem cleared up after I rebooted again -- first time didn't help. Thanks anyway.

  • Can I undo a windows migration, can I undo a windows migration

Ive just bought a imac and tried to transfer files from my old pc to my mac but found I now have two accounts when starting up
Can I get rid of this ?

Hard to undo, the preferred method is to Migrate at very first boot of the Mac to just have one account.
That being said, all my Macs have more than one Admin account for emergencies.

  • How can I undo the last firefox update? I've had nothing but problems since!

Ever since I updated to firefox 3.6.10 firefox keeps freezing on me as well as doing all kinds of weird things making it just about impossible to browse or post on the web. So how do I get back to the older version???

Go to ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/ , click on Mozilla Firefox under Internet, and you can download ANY version of Firefox that was ever created.

  • Can you turn off iCloud Drive without losing data?

I enabled iCloud drive but then discovered through some articles that one should not enable iCloud Drive until Yosemite comes out and all of one's devices are running iOS8 and Yosemite on their computes.  Since enabling iCloud Drive I am missing Photostream and Pages docs that I had on my phone and god knows what else. When I went to try and turn off iCloud Drive (so I can then wait until Yosemite comes out before I re-enable iCloud Drive), I get the following message:
"Are you sure you want to turn off iCloud Drive? Some changes have not been uploaded to iCloud. If you turn off iCloud Drive, these changes will be lost." Immediately below that message is a red message that says "Delete from iPhone."
What exactly would be deleted from my phone if I turn off iCloud Drive?  What changes does the message refer to?  Why can't I just return my phone from iCloud Drive to the regular Cloud so I can access my Photostream and my Pages data?  And why on earth did Apple not alert us to the issues we would face with iOS8 if we install BEFORE Yosemite comes out?  This is so frustrating!
Thanks in advance for any advice.
    Teresa

I would love to hear that Apple has remedied this problem. From other discussion strings that I am following related to this issue, it seems thus far we remain out of luck. I did discover that if I log onto iCloud.com I can access my files that way.  Still, what a pain.
When I got the message re iCloud Drive as I was setting up my phone after the update to iOS8, it said I wouldn't be able to access my files unless all of my devices were running iOS8 OR Yosemite. That message was misleading as it really should have said all devices need to be running iOS8 AND your mac needs to be running Yosemite, as it was not an "either or" situation.  So frustrating...

  • Can you share large files on iCloud drive like dropbox?

I am exploring how to use iCloud drive now...and had a basic question.  Can you share large files from it in a similar way as you can with dropbox?  This is a great feature of dropbox...or google drive when mailing large files just doesn't work.
I have a Yosemite beta currently, and it doesn't look like you can do this.
I also was wondering if anyone has figured out how to make an alias of the iCloud drive on the desktop rather than always opening a finder window in order to drop files into iCloud drive....

I am exploring how to use iCloud drive now...and had a basic question.  Can you share large files from it in a similar way as you can with dropbox?
Have a look at the iCloud Drive FAQ:  The file size limit is 15 G:   iCloud Drive FAQ     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT201104
You can store any type of file in iCloud Drive, as long as it's less than 15 GB in size. There's no restriction on file type, so you keep all of your work documents, school projects, presentations, and more up to date across all of your devices. Learn more about managing your iCloud Drive files.
If you make an alias to a folder on iCloud Drive, you can drag it to the Favourites in the Finder sidebar. That is the best I could do.

  • Regarding iCloud drive...can I store photos in directories?

Regarding icloud drive...can I store photos in their directories? I have many that were scanned -so exif files are useless.

This is all Apple has released so far publicly about iCloud Drive:
    http://www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/icloud-drive/
Now you have the freedom to work with the document of your choice on the device of your choice. Because with iCloud Drive, you can safely store all your presentations, spreadsheets, PDFs, images, and any other kind of document in iCloud and access them from your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.
Yes, you can create folders and store images in them as you like. But so far nothing is known, how the new iPhoto.app on MacOS X Yosemite will store and access the photos on iCloud Drive. SO, if you want to use Apple's photos apps on your devices to sync photo libraries, you will probably not be free to store photos as you like.

  • Is there any way I can downgrade iCloud Drive back to iCloud?

When setting up my iphone 6 in the Apple Store before I could stop him, the guy turned on iCloud Drive. since then, all of my Documents in iCloud no longer sync across all my devices. I have an iMac & MacBook  both running Mavericks as I do not want to upgrade to Yosemite until Apple have fixed the Wifi & Mail issues. Now when I change any document I have stored in ICloud or add a new Document the changes or new Document do not appear in iCloud on any of my other devices & I get the stupid not compatible error message. This is becoming very frustrating!
Is there any way that I can downgrade to the old iCloud until Yosemite is fixed & I can upgrade all of my devices to iCloud Drive? Can anyone help as I am getting really fed up of Apple messing up with new OS's. I really thought that Yosemite would launch without problems as the beta was available ages ago .Grrrrr

You're welcome.  Actually, Apple does provide a warning when you first attempt to turn on iCloud Drive (see below) but the guy at the store didn't warn you about it.  (I guess it doesn't explicitly say you can't revert back to iCloud though.)

  • How can I come out of icloud drive and revert to icloud.co?

How can I revert to previous configuration after mistakenly signing up to icloud drive? I have Mountain Lion and do not wish to sign up to Yosemite.

You cannot revert to "Documents in the Cloud", you can just stop using iCloud Drive, once your iCloud account has been upgraded to iCloud Drive. There is no way back.
From:   iCloud Drive FAQ - Apple Support
After I upgrade to iCloud Drive, can I downgrade and go back to using Documents in the Cloud?
No, after you upgrade to iCloud Drive, you can't go back to using Documents in the Cloud. You can turn off iCloud Drive in iOS 8 by going to Settings > iCloud > iCloud Drive. You can turn off iCloud Drive on your Mac by going to Apple menu > System Preferences > iCloud and deselecting iCloud Drive. If you turn off iCloud Drive, your documents and data will no longer be kept up to date across all of your devices.

  • ICloud DriveCan't open iCloud documents and can't upgrade to

I'm trying to open some of my iCloud documents at work from a PC via iCloud.com. This has never been a problem before but now when I try to do so I'm presented with a message along the lines of:
"To use Numbers you will need to upgrade to iCloud Drive...."
The trouble is, if I upgrade to iCloud Drive I then won't be able to access these documents from my Mac at home as that will need to be running Yosemite (it's currently on Mavericks), nor will I be able to access them on my iPhone or iPad, both if which will need to be running iOS8, but both of which aren't capable of running iOS 8.
What do I do? The whole point of storing documents in iCloud was so that I could access them across platform, now that doesn't seem possible. Is there anyway I can still open MY documents from my PC without 'upgrading' to iCloud Drive?
    Thanks,
    Alan.

If a Pages '08 document doesn't open in Pages '09, the problem is not Pages '09, it's that the document is corrupted.

  • What's the highest Powerbook I can drop my hard drive into?

I have a PowerBook G4 Titanium DVI with a SAMSUNG HM160JC Hard Drive (Connection Bus: ATA, Connection Type: Internal) and it's running OS X 10.4.11 and I'm wondering what is the most powerful PowerBook that I can drop my hard drive into?
My PowerBook is from 2003, so a PowerBook from 2005-2006 would be a huge upgrade.
    Thanks!

Hi, Roger. Any later Powerbook G4 model can use it — all Powerbook G4s use Parallel ATA drives like yours. MacBooks and MacBook Pros use Serial ATA (SATA) drives, and yours can't be installed in them, though it could be used as an external drive with a MB or MBP if mounted in an appropriate enclosure.
It's likely that no other model will be able to use the operating system on the drive now, which was configured appropriately for your PB model at the time of installation. You'll probably have to reinstall the OS to get a suitable configuration for whatever machine you buy.

  • In iCloud preferences when I deselect an item, e.g. documents I get a message saying the info in documents will be taken off my mac and kept in iCloud. I would rather have in on my mac and not in iCloud. How can I keep my data?

    Macbook pro, os 9.4.1.
In iCloud preferences when I deselect an item, e.g. documents I get a message saying the info in documents will be taken off my mac and kept in iCloud. I would rather have the info on my mac and not in iCloud. How can I keep my data on my mac?

My mistake, my OS is 10.9.4.
    Thank you for your reply.
I guess, I really don't understand iCloud and how files are stored and where. I gather when I was asked to set it up I should have declined. Anyway, it looks like some of my files are stored in the cloud. If I shut off "documents" in the preferences it will remove those docs from my macbook, but they will remain in the cloud and I could get access to them for another computer if I set it up.
I also gather to avoid this, I have to, on a file by file basis, save them to my mac and then they will be on my mac. What I don't get, is that these files must exist on my mac because I can edit it without being connected to the internet. Maybe those files I see when disconnected from the internet are on my mac and I wouldn't be able to see cloud files unless I was connected to the internet.
My concern is that when I deselect "documents" in the iCloud preferences it warns me that those documents on my mac will be removed from my mac. I am afraid to deselect "documents' or "calendars" as a result.
If I seem confused, I am. Please don't feel obligated to reply if my message is too muddled.
