Can I uninstall Yosemite and go back to my old OS?
Can I uninstall Yosemite and go back to my old OS?
It's not a simple uninstall. You'll need to erase the hard drive, install the old OS version, and then restore your data from a backup. It's a time consuming process and it's probably easier to try and troubleshoot whatever issues you're having with Yosemite.

As a former programmer, I am dismayed that such a poor version would be released! It reminds me of dealing with Windows 98!
I don't understand WHY they would pull support for the older version v3.6.16 when it is obvious that so many people want to go back to that version. The new version is TERRIBLE!! I am having problems with it and reading thru these posts so are a lot of people.
I urge you NOT to pull support until you come up with a better version than this one. I plan to go back to the older version and if you pull support I will go back to internet explorer before I go to this new version of firefox. I have used firefox for years and recommended it to a lot of people but I am very disappointed in this version. -

How can I uninstall Yosemite and reinstall Loin with out losing all my in formation and programsThis had been the worst os system apple has come out, too many errors
too many to list.

Losing all mail. and watching them disappear in front of my eyes and could nothing about it
also when accessing cloud the screen just rolls in when accessing mail, like loading and loading and loading for 1 to 2 minuets.
I did not up grade my Mac Book Pro, and is working fine,
Just my iMac, its act kile avid card and it only happens access iCloud mail.
so I want to and need to go back to LoinYou can't unless you have a current backup of your old Lion system because the first thing you must do is erase the drive. It 's possible to use Target Disk Mode between your iMac and the MBP in order to clone the MBP to the iMac. However, that will still erase everything on the iMac's drive.
Or you could see about getting Yosemite to work correctly. If you have IMAP mail, then your mail should be intact.
Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Download and install the 10.10.1 update.
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite

Can I uninstall Yosemite and reload my older operating system
can I uninstall Yosemite and reload my older operating system
I tried this method and erased my MC HD and restored my system, but the bad thing is once you install YOSEMITE it overrides your Recovery with yosemite and you lose Maverick. I called Apple support regarding this same issue. I have to take my Mac to apple to have it replaced with a new one that has maverick installed on it.
Yosemite is causing display glitches, wifi slow downs, dock disappears from one screen to the other or completely and cannot get it back. -
I recently installed Yosemite from Mavericks. I find that Yosemite is slowing me down and causing havoc on my home web page. How do uninstall Yosemite and get back to Mavericks?

I'm gonna jump in as I have similar issues with Yosemite.
My two old white MacBooks run perfect with Snow leopard, but my 2011 17" i7 Macbook Pro is a dead slug with yosimite installed.
Tried the start with C held down, also with option held down. All it does is beeps at me three times, then again three times.....
I want to remove yosimite and install Snow leopard from dvd as yosimite runs worse than a Windows OS.
Can it be done, what do I need to do please?
Examples of faults, even with a 1tb solid state drive and 16 gig of ram, it is incredibly slow. Took four hours to install Logic 8 last night, I still have to reinstall logic 9 upgrade. On the White MacBooks I got both 8 and 9 installed in under an hour and a half all up.
Beeping on startup means failed RAM.
Slowness is usually caused by incompatible third-party system modifications. -
I have quicktime pro and it does NOT have the screen record mode that Quicktime is suppose to have. Can I uninstall it and go back to an older version that would have screen recording? If so, how? Step by step needed. Thank you for your time.
Did you remove Quicktime X?
On a normal install Quicktime 7 is installed in the Utilities folder and Quicktime Pro in the main Applications folder.
You will need to reinstall OS X to get Quicktime X back if you have deleted it.
I notice yor profile says 10.5.8. Quicktime X is only available on 10.6 and above. -
How can I uninstall FF4 and go back to FF3.x?
''Duplicate post, continue here - [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/814655]''
I have nothing but constant issues with video not running, my Google Analytics page freezing up, Facebook lagging, and other weird and annoying garbage with Firefox 4 that I never had with previous versions. Not to mention that it seems to use 3 times as much memory as the older versions. I just want to uninstall it and go back to 3. And if I can't do this I'm going to Chrome. To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles -

I have installed the new version 13, called Aurora. I am currently using it, but if I start not liking the new features (so far I do! But I have to ask) can I "go back" to the "good old" Firefox 11?
Will I be loosing my data and settings? History and bookmarks?
My computer is a Pentium M 1,6GHz (2004.) and the version 11 seemed very stable. The reason I installed Aurora is because I wanted to try your new software. Also, before you go back to an older version (transition from Aurora to Release), you might want to back up your bookmarks and such. Usually, an older version of Firefox will be able to read your data, but this is not guaranteed.

How can I uninstall Bootcamp and Recover the partition for the Mac HD
How can I uninstall Bootcamp and recover the partition for the IMac HD?
Boot into OSX. Go back into the Bootcamp utility in the Utilities folder and re-run it. It will give you the option to remove the Windows partition and make the OSX partition fill the whole drive again. OSX will NOT be lost in the process. No re-installing necessary. Only takes a few minutes or less to complete.
