Can I use Acrobat to prevent content theft?

Can I use Acrobat to prevent content theft on my Green Living Article website? Is a PDF File Spiderable?
Thanks,
Donald

It is possible to encrypt the content by using password protection.
However, all passwords are easily removed by 3rd party utilities. DRM is
available that will do the trick but is much more expensive. They
require the use of a dedicated server which adds to the expense. There
are companies that apply DRM to specific pdfs for a cost. One such
company can be found at:

Does anyone else use a PDF form to extract data they can then use to populate Dynamic Content in Illustrator?

You can connect the form to the DB using anODBC connection. This functionality comes as part of Acrobat but the form must be Reader Extended by the full LiveCycle Server version of Reader Extension to allow this in Reader. In your case, if your system is the only on ethat will interact with the DB then this might be a viable solution (but you woudl have to use Acrobat). This solution woudl involve create an ODBC connection in your system then configuring the form to make use of that connection.
    Does that make sense?

  • A script that can be used to track text content changes in indesign?

Is there a possibility a script that can be used to track text content changes in indesign. My Indesign software's version is CS3. As you can see below, I have deleted some texts and added some. I did it in another software.
I have been searched for a long time. Because of my poor English, I still can't come up with any Object Model related to the script yet.
Here is some idea of mine:
Use the script tracking my revising texts. When I  add some new texts, the texts will be underlined. When I delete some texts, the position of the first character of the removed text will be added a small red triangle or something.
    Thanks in advance.

Hidden dragon, what does that mean?
I can't comprehend fully what you said.
Is IDML short for Indeisgn Markup Language?
I think you are telling me that I can open the Indeisgn document by using the software InCopy. Then I have change some contents. InCopy will help me tracking the revision.

    Hi Lynfordd,
As per your account details your CC subscription is active and it should work fine. I also found that your subscription is already activated on 2 machines, so if you are trying to install and activate it on another computer then you need to deactivate it from one of the 2 machines and then try activating it on your 3rd computer.
Please let us know if it helps.

  • Can I use Acrobat 8.1 Pro for Windows 8?

Can I use Acrobat 8.1 Pro for Windows 8?

Generally I agree, but there is a chance it will work. If you are talking about a 64-bit system, the likelihood of problems is substantially higher. The simplest way to find out is try it (assuming you have already purchased Win8 system. You will likely have to update to at least 8.1 to have it work. However, Adobe will not provide support for problems you run into, though folks here might try to offer solutions. I have not heard anyone try it yet. Several were successful with Win7, though I only heard of 2 with Win7, 64-bit who claimed success.
However, you might find that AA XI provides better performance (assuming you do get AA 8 to work) and you probably should consider the upgrade.

  • Can I use Acrobat 11 & FormsCentral to keep info and forms only on my computer or is info kept on a

I'm planning to upgrade to Acrobat XI specifically for the webforms, data collection and payment options using FormsCentral. But I don't want details stored anywhere but on my computer or host server. So I have several questions before I make my decision.
    1) Is there anyway to use the Forms Central Desktop app to save the forms templates to my hard drive, or do I just need to create my own with Acrobat?
    2) Can I just have the responses and payment information sent directly to me and not saved on the FormsCentral server?
    3) If not: Can I delete the responses and payment details from the FormsCentral server?
    4) I need a way to use this information when my computer is not connected to the Internet, so it needs to be on my computer. I'm not always where I can get Internet access, and when I can, it often is a public WiFi  access (I travel full time.)
    5) I write ebooks and training courses. I will have some affiliates promoting my products. I would like to use this system to make it easy for them to make a sale that tells me which affiliate referred the buyer. Is there a way to use Acrobat forms and FormsCentral to do this without relying on the buyer to enter a code? I'm thinking, possibly, of a form they can add to their website that will take the information and send it to my account. I can't quite figure this out.
    Thanks.

Sorry for the delayed response. I had one of those disconnect episodes that is one of my reasons for NOT wanting any of my data accessible only from a cloud service. I'm back on now. But lost almost a full day because of this.
RE: 1) Do you want to create web forms or PDF forms?
From reading the instructions for Acrobat X, I'm hoping to create a PDF form that I can put on the website, have people fill it out, then when they click "submit" it comes to me in an email. I don't know if the term "web forms" implies anything other than that (such as FormsCentral memebership), but since the instruction manual called them webforms with no mention of FormsCentral, it looks like I can do this much without getting involved with that service. I posted the instructions below so you know what I'm referring to (Acrobat X manual)
RE: 2) Do you want to collect data in a table-like format or do you want to receiving filled-out PDF forms directly to your email inbox and you manage your own data?
I'd like to receive the forms by email, then I'll put it into my database. I can make tables or put it in spreadsheets or whatever I want from there.
RE: Without the subscription & with FormsCentral for Acrobat :...
    - You can't create web forms (HTML forms)
There is a save to HTML feature in Acrobat X. When I saved a document with a form to HTML format I could open it with a browser, but the form fields didn't show up. Don't know if that because it really doesn't do this, or if I'm so new at this I screwed it up.
Also, there was some comment about needing a CGI script to collect the information and send it to a database, and that makes sense to me, though I don't know how to use CGI. I have a CGI something or other available through my hosting service. Maybe that's what I need to learn to use.
Here are the instructions for v.X
Home / Using Acrobat X Pro / Forms / Publishing interactive web forms
    Add submit functionality
    Submit Form Selections options
Use the Submit A Form action to send form data to an email address or to a web server by specifying a URL. You can also use the submit button to send other files back to a server or database. For example, you can attach scanned images or files to a form. The files are submitted along with the rest of the form data when you click the Submit button.
If your PDF form contains an email-based submit button, you can use the Distribute workflow to facilitate distributing the form to others.
Select Tools > Forms > Edit, then select Button from the Add New Field list, and create a button.
Double-click the button to open the Button Properties dialog box.
Click the Actions tab, and select Mouse Up from the Select Trigger menu.
Select Submit A Form from the Select Action menu, and then click Add.
In the Submit Form Selections dialog box, type an entry in Enter A URL For This Link:
To send the form data to a web server, enter the destination URL.
To send the form data to an email address, enter mailto: followed by the email address. For example, type mailto:[email protected]
Make additional changes to the available options, and then click OK to close the dialog box.
Change settings on other tabs in the Button Properties dialog box as needed, and then click Close.

Just in case. I have two pc's one with windows 7 professional (32 bits) and another with windows 8.1 (64 bits). Can I use, with one license, as I'm the owner and only user, acrobat standard XI?. Thank you in advance

Yes, the license allows 2 installs for the owner's personal use. You can check this in the license agreement if you wish.

  • Can I use acrobat pro 7.0 for small business company?

    Hi,
We want to use acrobat pro 7.0 at our company. The link is https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?pid=2026489&e=cs2_downloads where I downloaded.
I read license term for this. I've not found license policy for small business company. Is this product free for any persons?
    Please reply for me.
    Thank you!
    -Matthew-

you're welcome, but no, acrobat 7 cannot legally be used by non-licensed users for any length of time.
and while there are non-current adobe trial versions available back to certain versions, for acrobat, version 8 is the oldest trial version available.  so, you can legally download and use (for 30 days) unlicensed acrobat versions, 8, 9, X and the current version XI.
the acrobat pro 7 that adobe is making available is only legal to use by licensed acrobat 7 owners.  it is not legal to use for 30 days, or any other duration (limited or not), for non-licensed users.

  • Error 1301 -  mac  - can't update acrobat X - cause contents modified after initial install

i am running the latest mac OS (10.9.5).  recently i had to change the administrators  password. ( i am the only user).  that is when problems started with adobe reader and acrobat.  none of the automatic updates would work (actually manually initiated).  i was able to uninstall the reader and re-install  successfully.  can't  install acrobat X.  the  uninstall  link (alias) in the app folder references NULL.
tried to install with my original install cd. stops about 70% of the way and hangs the apple install.  adobe support was useless (via chat). they recommended i create a new user and install acrobat.  that did not work. some help discussions recommend logging in as the root.  but this would seem that for all updates i would have to do this.
so any help would be appreciated.  a CLEAN uninstall would seem to be the correct answer.
ps: when i tried to do the update,  i got the error code "1301"

I don't know anything about Mac OS.  All I can suggest is that you download and install updates manually

  • Can I use Acrobat 11to download pdf that only allows me to read, enter data, and print?

I need to complete gov. forms available online as pdf.  I can review, enter data and print, but I cannot save to my computer or anywhere else.  I need to be able to save so I can return to the form and enter information as I access it.  Can this be done if I purchase Acrobat 11 and, if so, can I get the Standard edition?  I currently only have Reader.

Yes, if you upgrade to at least Acrobat Standard you will be able to save. Since you can't save with Reader (assuming 11), the forms are probably XFA forms (created with LiveCycle Designer), which must be Reader-enabled in order to be saved with Reader. Reader 11 can save non-enabled AcroForms (forms created with Acrobat), but not non-enabled XFA forms. If you have a Reader version prior to 11, try using Reader 11 to see if it will save.
If you can provide a link to one of the forms, I can tell you for sure what the minimum requirement for saving is.

  • Can I use my US purchased content after moving over to Germany with a new credit card?

Hi team, I would appreciate some help with my question. I asked Apple actually but they never called me back.
I bought quite some movies and music and got the iCloud as well as iTunes Match. All works very well.
My question: what if I move over to Germany and need to change my creditcard back to a German one. Can I still access the content from the purchses I made in the US? Or is this gone and I would have to buy all again (which I would never do of course). For the moment, I stopped all purchases from Apple until I get an answer. I do not want to waste my money.
    Thank you for any help.
    Chris

That could be a big problem. The iPhone 5 uses a "nano" sim card, & since there are no official iPhone carriers in Slovakia, I doubt you'll find a nano sim card. Cutting a regular sim down may be your only choice:

Do so at your own risk.
    Good luck.

  • How can I use Acrobat Pro XI upgrade when I have a previous version on a different computer?

I just bought an upgreade of Acrobat Pro XI and installed it on my laptop. I own Pro X on my  desktop but when I try to open XI it asks for a serial number of a for a previous version on the laptop. The previous version is on a desktop. What can I do?
    Thanks.
    Garrett65

You just need to enter the Serial number of the Acrobat X to authenticate the upgrade.
There is no need to actually have the previous version installed on the computer.

  • How can I use cookies in Web Content Overlays?

I have a survey created with Google Docs. It uses cookies to tell if a user has already submitted an answer to a survey.
It seems to me that these cookies are not stored with web content overlays (I've used the direct URL to the survey as input).
Am I right? Is there a way to make the cookie thing work?

    Hi,
Is this procedure still available in 9iAS and RDBMS 8.1.6 ? I am trying to get it to work, and I keep getting "ORA-00942: table or view does not exist". The owner of this package is "SYS". I even tried prefixing the table name in the SQL string passed to calendarprint with the owner, and it still gave me this error. Does this have anything to do with the invoker rights model ? I need to set up a web calendar and would love to use this functionality...
    What gives ?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks you

  • Can I use Acrobat to create an editable PDF for client's bids?

    Hey all,
I recently created a website for a client who sends out hundreds of bids a year in the form of a PDF. They are interested in designing an editable template and I'm at a loss.
Certain areas need to be changed for each bid (bids are around 100 pages each with details about each project). Do any of you know if there is a way to set up a PDF template that can be edited - with pages being added and removed - like a word document?
Will they need a copy of Acrobat, or can I create an editable, stand-alone document that can be saved and resaved as needed?
Otherwise the only thing I can think to do would be to create a nice template and force it into a Word doc as best as I can so he can make changes for each different bid...
I would really appreciate some guidance on this one. I'm not sure how to proceed.
    Thanks!

While Acrobat can do minor touchups (correcting a typo, shifting the position of something on a page, etc.) it cannot perform major rework and doesn't understand the idea of document-level reflow.
PDF files are not designed to be editable like a word processor document. It's an end-destination format; you make changes in the original application and re-export a new PDF.
