Can I use my white BT Infinity wall box as a two-p...

I have a BT Infinity installation consisting of master socket connected to white Infinity modem box connected by Ethernet to the Home Hub, wired and wireless connections to the Home Hub are all working fine and I have internet access without any problems
I see that the white Infinity box has two ethernet ports (one currently unused). It would be convenient to use the second one to connect my sky box to the internet, but when I connect an Ethernet lead between the two the sky box still shows no connection. Am I doing something silly here?

Thanks for clarifying - I will give up on that idea then. Just out of curiosity, what is in that white box in networking terms - is it a modem plus three port router, or something like that? I'm trying to imagine why it has *two* LAN ports, and a router is the only thing I can think of that makes sense for that.
It's actually a "Home Gateway" i.e. a modem/router but it has been locked down and set up as a modem.

  • Can I use one Apple TV unit to distribute content to two TV's?

    Can I use one Apple TV unit to distribute content to two TV's? If so, how?
    I want to be able to purchase movies off of the iTunes store on both TV's and to display photos and listen to music.
    Thank you for looking.

    Apple TV is designed to display content on a single TV only. Although it has component and HDMI outputs they are not independent and, as has been pointed out already, HDMI will take precedence over the component video.
    You will need two Apple TVs, one for each TV, and you can then sync both with one computer either with the same content or with different content selected from a common library in iTunes..
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I use the PLEK500 Powerline Home Plug AV2 to cascade two EA6700 routers, plus?

    Can I use the PLEK500 Powerline Home Plug AV2 to cascade two EA6700 routers?  In otherwords, can I connect my “main router” to a PLEK500 on the third floor . . . then plug in another PLEK500 in the basement (same power lines) and use the Ethernet socket on the PLEK500 to plug into the second EA6700 in a LAN to LAN cascade?  And, if so, can I also use that second EA6700 to run an Ethernet cable to an access point at one end of the house and a different Ethernet cable underground to an out building where I can connect a third EA6700? Finally, from there to a second out building by connecting an Ethernet cable from the third router, underground again, to a 4th EA6700 in the second out building?  All connected LAN to LAN to the main router?  My problem in a nutshell: the main router is on the third floor with no way to run Ethernet cable to the rest of the house.  If I can make the first cascade via the PLEK500 to the basement router, I have access to run an Ethernet cable, via underground pipe, from the basement to the first out building and from that building to the second out building.  I need wireless access to the lower floors of the main house as well as the two out buildings.

    Yes, that is theoretically possible. You just need to make sure that you are using the same circuit for those two power lines to work. You could also refer to this link: http://kb.linksys.com/Linksys/ukp.aspx?vw=1&docid=83217d7598ad44d68d9cc60f1cea9887_Different_ways_in... for different ways on how to configure a router.

  • How can i use IDSM-2 in inline mode for more than two VLANs?

    can i use the IDSM-2 in inline mode to be ips to more than two VLANS
    like this or it isn't
    intrusion-detection module 5 data port 1 access-vlan 10,20,30,40,50
    intrusion-detection module 5 data port 1 access-vlan 100,200
    thank u all for your help

    The IDSM-2 ports need to be configured as trunk ports with multiple vlans rather than as access ports.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807517eb.html#wp1068377
    And instead of creating an inline interface pair by pairing Gig0/7 with Gig0/8 within the IDSM-2 configuration, you would create inline vlan pairs.
    With an inline vlan pair you pair 2 vlans on the same interface.
    You can have up to 255 inline vlan pairs on each interface (assumining you keep the total traffic from all of the pairs within the IDSM-2s performance limit of around 500Mbps)
    How to create inline vlan pairs:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/vpndevc/ps4077/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00807517bb.html#wp1047852
    The other aspect you need to be aware of is that not all IOS versions will support configuring the IDSM-2 data ports as trunk ports for inline vlan pairs.
    Your best bet is to use 12.2(18)SXF4 or a later version on the 12.2(18)SXF train.
    The 12.2(33)SR train does not currently support the trunk feature for the IDSM-2.

  • Can I use my Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro to drive two displays?

    I have a Mid 2012 13" MacBook Pro (NOT Retina - I wanted the optical drive...) connected to a 27" Thunderbolt Display. If I get a MiniDisplay Port <-> MiniDisplay Port Cable (and connect it between the Thunderbolt Port on the Thunderbolt Display, and the MiniDisplay Port on the iMac), will the MacBook Pro also be able to drive my 27" Mid 2010 iMac as an external Monitor?
    If not, will the iMac be able to drive the Thunderbolt display?
    I'm trying to get to documents side by side on the 27" monitor so I can move data between them - Word/Word, Word/Excel, etc.,
    It would be nice to know the answer before I go to the store and drop the $ on the cable...
    Many thanks,
    Chris

    After lots of reading, it seems it is possible (thanks for the link, OGELTHORPE), but I haven't been able to figure out the right cable configuration.
    Confirmed my MacBook Pro (mid 2012) supports two Thunderbolt Displays
    Confirmed my iMac (mid 2010) supports Target Display Mode
    Confirmed this is possible based on the below...
    6. Can I use an Apple Thunderbolt Display and an iMac in Target Display Mode to act as two additional displays for my Thunderbolt-equipped Mac?
    Yes. If your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac supports two Thunderbolt displays this is possible. Your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac will need to be connected to your Apple Thunderbolt display and the iMac will need to be connected to the Thunderbolt port of the Apple Thunderbolt display. Not all iMacs support Target Display Mode. See Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for more information. Once connected, place the iMac into Target Display Mode to enable it as the second external display.
    Notes:
    Make sure the Thunderbolt Display is connected to your Thunderbolt-equipped Mac and is being recognized and used by the Thunderbolt-equipped Mac before connecting the iMac to the Thunderbolt display.
    If the iMac is placed in the Thunderbolt chain before the Apple Thunderbolt Display, the Thunderbolt display will work as an external display for the iMac and it will stay active as an external display for the iMac, but it will not function with the main Thunderbolt-equipped Mac using the iMac's display.
    To use an iMac in Target Display Mode when connected to an Apple Thunderbolt Display, the iMac must be Thunderbolt-enabled, and a Thunderbolt cable must be used (not a mini-DP cable).
    The bulletpoint that worries me is the last one. I have tried with both a mini display port cable AND a thunderbolt cable, but the last bulletpoint seems to suggest that this is not possible if the iMac is NOT a Thunderbolt enabled iMac (which mine isn't). It does however say elsewhere that my iMac acting in TDM mode acts as a Thunderbolt Display, so it's all a bit confusing!!! It seems that my MacBook Pro can't drive both displays; so now I'm trying to figure out how to get the iMac to treat my Thunderbolt display as a second monitor.
    Fingers crossed...

  • HT1222 Can you use the same authorization code for QT Pro on two computers? Or do you have to buy a code for each computer

    I have two computers a laptop and my Video Editing computer can I use the same activation code on both?

    An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services.   So you can use the same Apple ID for up to 10 Macs associated with it.
    To create an Apple ID you need to enter  your full name and your primary email address as your Apple ID. This will be used as the contact email address for your account.

  • Can I use CINs whit LabVIEW RT?

    I need use Code Interface Node and Call Library Function Node with LabVIEW RT. Is it possible?

    LabWindows/CVI 6.0 makes it possible to create DLLs specifically intended for use in LabVIEW Real-Time. To do this, go to Target Settings. Under Run-Time Support, there will be a new option for "LabVIEW Real-Time only". What will happen now is that when you build your DLL it will check that you are not using any unsupported functions. You can then take that DLL and call it from LabVIEW Real-Time.

  • How can I use a layer system of images, boxes, lines etc

    Hi,
    I trying to develop a map system which can have layers added and removed from screen at request.
    I have a basic map picture which I would like to add a grid structure to which can be added and removed by the click of a JMenuItem.
    My code looks like this:
    package simulator.gui;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.image.*;
    import java.io.*;
    import javax.imageio.*;
    public class DrawMap extends Component {
         private static final long serialVersionUID = 1L;
         private BufferedImage map;
        public void paint(Graphics g) {
             Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
            g2.drawImage(map, simulator.values.Constants.originX, simulator.values.Constants.originY, null);
            g2.drawRect(simulator.values.Constants.originX, simulator.values.Constants.originY, simulator.values.Constants.mapWidth,simulator.values.Constants.mapHeight);
        public DrawMap() {
    //       try {
    //           map  = ImageIO.read(new File(simulator.values.Constants.map));
    //       } catch (IOException e) {
        public Dimension getPreferredSize() {
            if (map == null) {
                 return new Dimension(100,100);
            } else {
               return new Dimension(map.getWidth(), map.getHeight());
    }I add the map to the window using this.add(new DrawMap());I want to have more methods such as DrawGrid() and DrawCircle() which get called separately from the DrawMap() method.
    But when these get called they clear the screen and I can't get the over-layed effect I want.
    Is there a solution to this?
    I don't mind ever if I have to change most of my code.
    Please help - it's for my final year project and this is just the basics of it!!!
    Thanks,
    - Kevin

    There is quite a bit of information about using layers. Here is one:
    http://java.sun.com/developer/Books/2dgraphics/chapter6.html
    Just do some searching for more.
    The question is not really suitable for forum answers, you need to do some research, study, and experimentation.

  • Can't use LOV with item type "check box" in form

    I have created a LOV that I want to use with a form application in 3.0.9. I need to be able to do multiple choices in this LOV (check box style) in the same query (only queries - users won't be able to update this field)
    When I choose Check box as the item type in the form wizard I am not able to choose the LOV. I have to use combo box, popup or radio group for the LOV choices to appear, but then the query can only query for one value in the LOV at a time.
    Is there a solution to this?

    Hi,
    This feature is not supported as of now. You cannot have multi select LOV for a form field and hence a checkbox cannot have a LOV.
    Thanks,

  • Can I use a TM backup and Migration Assistant to "merge" two machines?

    Here's the situation:
    I have a TM backup of an iMac which is being recycled to another use. This iMac has a couple of user accounts, and applications, including VMWare and XP pro.
    I have a MacBook pro, which has user accounts and applications (It's been in use for a couple of months.)
    What is the best way to transfer all of the iMac "stuff" (user files and applications -- have I left anything out?) to the MBP?
    Migration Assistant looks like it might be the right tool -- is it? Or should I do it another way?
    I'm worried that the user account on the iMac and the MBP might have the name username and/or the same numeric userID. Does it matter? If it does, what's the easiest way to check the userID?

    Ok, I wasn't clear enough...
    The iMac has user1 & user2 as user accounts, and MSOffice, VMWare and XPpro as applications
    The macbook has userA as a user account, and the usual suspects in Applications.
    What I would like to end up with is either user1 and userA as two separate accounts on the macbook, or (better) all of the user1's user directory copied into a subdirectory on userA's account properly owned by userA. (I don't care one way or another about user2). And I need the Applications out of the iMac's Applications folder to end up in the macbook's Application's folder. (I can come up with install disks for MSOffice, VMWare and XPpro if that's easier, too.)
    Any advice on how to do this would be gratefully received!
    It sounds like

  • Can I use an LOV with a Combo Box?

    ... and if so, how?
    This should be easy, but I've been searching for over an hour now and I keep getting instruction on how to do each individually, but not how to put them together for the desired behavior.
    My goal is to have a combo box (single line text field with a drop down arrow) that, when the user clicks the arrow, displays a list populated from a column in the data base and the user selects a value.
    I'm using Oracle 10g2

    Why don't you create a record group and populate that record group into the list item on runtime?

  • Can I use symbolic links to share abook.mab file for two users

    If I delete any of the .mab files from one user profile and replace it with a symbolic link that points to the same file in the other profile will this synchronise my address books for the two profiles. I have win7.
    The object is to have two Windows User accounts sharing all the same email data. I have already have them pointed at the same message store.
    I also wish to know if deleting a .mab file will only cause it to be re-created.
    I am hesitant to experiment.
    Thanks

    Deleting any of the two default mab files, abook.mab (Personal Address Book) or history.mab (Collected Addresses) will result in new, empty files with these names being recreated automatically when TB is restarted.
    There are some ideas for sharing address books here:

  • Can I use a regular USB wall charger to charge my Sixaxis controller?

    Hi. I have a Sixaxis controller and I'm wondering if I could charge it using a USB wall charger like the ones that come with smartphones. I want to charge my controller but I have the PS3 plugged into an extension cable with my TV, set-top box and DVD player. In order to charge my controller atm I have to have all those things turned on and it's expensive and somewhat dangerous. So, can I use my phone's USB wall charger to charge my Sixaxis controller?  Thanks.

    Thanks. I just didn't want it to explode or something.
