Can LabVIEW convert XML data in Excel

I am using XML files to store the data regarding my work. Now I have to display the data to the end user as a preview of the data. it could be in any readable format like HTML,MS-Excel or MS-Word.
Can any one tell me how to convert the XML file in above format

Inorder to convert a XML file to HTML you need to write an XSL script (EXtensible Style sheet Language). This script parses the XML file with a particular schema and shows the XML file in a browser.
Just open the XML file in Excel (2003 or above). It automatically parses the XML schema type and provides it as worksheet!

With this component it was my intention to make a more "terse" version of the LabVIEW Flatten to XML VI that was also supported on RT and that gave the user more flexbility regarding the structure of the parsing type definition. I think you are right that the XML parser is not compliant to section 2.11 of the XML spec. The parser does specifically looking for a #D#A and this appears to be an oversight on my part. Please confirm for me, the specifcation is saying that the XML parser should be able to recognize three possibilities as an "end of line" character: #D#A, #D, or #A. Am I reading this right?There are more efficient (and in some cases much more efficient) ways of sharing data between LabVIEW and LabVIEW: some examples are flattened binary strings and the datalog binary format. XML is slower than these optons but the upside is that it is human readable. Furthermore XML is inherently hierarchical which is convenient for complex data structures like clusters of arrays of clusters, etc. If you don't care about human readability then you are correct XML doesn't make as much sense.I will return to the GXML source code and try to fix this in the near future but I would hope that instead of creating yet another custom VI from scratch that you could reuse what I have provided for you. I included enough documentation in the source code so that users could make some modificiations themselves. The target application for this reference library was LabVIEW to LabVIEW communication. As such I documented the schema on the dev zone document from a LabVIEW perspective. It includes all the supported datatypes and all the supported data structures (cluters, arrays, multidimensional arrays, clusters of multidimensional arrays, etc.) I do see some value in making a more conventional XML spec but the time investment required didn't really line up with my intended use case. Gotta use your own imagination.
I'd have a root tag <excel-spreadsheet>. Under that I'd have a <worksheet> tag for each worksheet. Under that I'd have a <row> tag for each row. Each <row> tag would have <column> tags, with "name" attribute, and the spreadsheet entry as the value.
The problem is that you can't really map everything that will go into a spreadsheet into this stream (e.g., graphs, stray cells, etc.) It maps well to tables, but that's it.

Need to have 'variable name' node in the converted XML data.

i am converting the abap data to xml using cl_xml_document. in the converted xml data, i need to have one more node. in the below example, i want a node <variable name="productionOrderDetails"> to come after the Data node.

you can use class IF_IXML_NODE, first you need to read (go thru ) XML then need to Insert a New Node.

How can i convert the data from mutiple-table to the other database such as MS-SQL?
I have a third party system based on MS-SQL 2000.
Now we want to make a integration between SAP R/3(Oracle) and SQL server.
When my user releases the purchase order in R/3, the application we coded will convert the releated data to the temp database on the SQL server.
But i don't know which tools will help me reach the purpose. BAPI, LSMW, IDoc... ???
Would anybody tell me which way is better and how to do?

The question to use which method depend on your detail requirements. If you use BAPI, you need to find which Bapi can provide the data you want. Bapi normally use as a function called by external system. So you need to develop an external program like VB/Java to call this Bapi and move it to SQL. LSMW is use when you want to upload data from an external system to SAP. So it does not serve your requirement. Idoc can be use to export data to an external system. Again like Bapi, you need to find what Idoc can provide the data you want. However, it does not any programming from the external system. If I were you, based on your requirements, I think writing an Abap program that read the data you want and download it to NT/SQL server will be faster and easier.

After trying a lot to do it myself, finally decided to post here..
I have created a form in form builder 6i, in which on clicking a button the data gets exported to excel sheet.
It is working fine with a single table. The problem now is that i am unable to do the same with 2 tables.
Because both the tables have same number of columns & column names.
Below are 2 tables with column names:

In my application, i have an XML file and the corresponding XSD file. This XML file is having some date, which i want to convert into an byte[] and then save it in a file.
How i can convert the XML data in the byte[]? Here as an example of the xml file and the byte[] data which i want to save in a file.

In the above example 'id' field is of type 'uint' and 'name' field is of type 'string' with max length of '5'. So in this case my byte array should be as shown below:

Here underlines values are for the 'id' parameter where as values in bold are for 'Name' parameter for all the header values in sequence. Name parameter is null (0x00) padded.

For a general purpose solution you should create a class and split the example into separate methods to extract the data and write the values (integers, strings).

How can I convert output data (string?) from GPIB-read to an 1D array?

I am reading a displayed waveform from my Tektronix Oscilloscope (TDS3032) via the GPIB Read VI. The format of the waveform data is: positive integer data-point representation with the most significant byte transferred first (2 bytes per data point).
The output data of GPIB-Read looks like a string(?) where the integer numbers and a sign like the euro-currency sign are seperated by spaces e.g. #5200004C3 4 4 4 4 3C3C3........ (C represents the euro-currency sign).
How can I convert this waveform data into a 1D/2D array of real double floatingpoint numbers (DBL) so I can handle the waveform data for data-analysis?
It would be very nice if someone know the solution for this.

Hi,
First of all, I'm assuming you are using LabVIEW.
The first you need to do is parse the string returned by the instrument. In this case you need to search for the known symbols in the string (like the euro sign) and chop the string to get the numeric strings. Here are some examples on parsing from www.ni.com:
Keyword Search: parsing
Once you parse the numeric strings you can use the "String/number conversion VIs" in the String pallette.

How to convert XML data into binary data (opaque data)

Hi,
I am trying to develop a process that delivers files after reading data from a database.
However, it is required not to deliver the data immediately. We want to perform some checks before the files get written.
So the way we want to design this is,
1. Read data from database (or any other input). The data is in XML format (this is a requirement, as in general, we have xml data)
2. This data is written, opaquely, to a JMS queue that can store binary data, along with what is the filename of the file that would be written (filename is passed using JMS Headers)
3. When required, another process reads the JMS queue's binary data, and dumps into a file
The reason I want to use opaque data while inserting in the JMS queue is, that enables me to develop a single process in Step 3 that can write any file, irrespective of the format.
My questions are
1. How to convert the xml data to opaque data. In BPEL I may use a embedded java, but how about ESB. Any other way....?
2. how to pass filename to the jms queue, when payload is opaque. Can I use a header attribute...custom attributes?
3. Which jms message type is better for this kind of requirement - SYS.AQ$_JMS_BYTES_MESSAGE or SYS.AQ$_JMS_STREAM_MESSAGE

How can I convert a .dat to a .zip on a Mac?

I friend wanted me to update his company's website which runs on a MS Exchange Server/Sharepoint set up. He zipped all the html, jpeg, and assorted text files and attached that zip file to an email. When I received it on my Mac it had been converted to a ".dat" file. He tells me that this is the result of sending a zipped file over the MS Exchange Server mail system to a Mac. (Whatever happened to cross-platform?)
Is there a Mac utility I can use to convert this dat file back to a zip file that I then can open on my Mac?

What Adobe program did you purchase? If you have a Word file that you want to convert to Excel, I don't think it's necessary to make Adobe part of the equation.
