Can multiple  hosts exist on single instance

Hi B2B gurus,
I would like to present a scenario i am trying to work out.
Lets say there are 2 buyers B1 and B2
And 2 suppliers S1 and S2.
The buyers send a PO to the supplier and the lets say the Supplier sends an Invoice to the Buyer.
Also there are 8 agreements in all. I mean all possible combinations such that a buyer can send a PO to any supplier and a Supplier can send a invoice to any Buyer.
My understanding of B2B is that it is generally a single Host TP and there can be multiple remote TP's.
To make my scenario work we will need multiple host TP's. One solution for this is to install N instances of B2B. But that is not feasible.
So is it possible to install only one instance of B2B and create multiple Host TP's and multiple agreements as i wanted.
We can use an API or something similar for this, so that this can all be done through the backend.
I agree that this may seem a little confusing, so if you have any queries feel free to ask them
Thanks
Ravi

I did read the two forums you have mentioned, from this my understanding is the following.
Without tweaking the current B2B sytem i can have one TP send multiple format documents to multiple TP's without any problems.
Eg B1 can send to S1 a PO over email . B1 can also send a Change Order to S1 via AS2/FTP?any other method.
Is my understanding correct??
So if i were to use the hub model as you suggested i will use different identifiers to identify multiple buyer TP's
And hence there will be lotsa agreements all on the basis of identifiers and doc received and that will decide the target doc format and the transport delivery method.
Qn 1 - Does this seem to make sense? (feasibility, possible issues )
Qn 2 - What will be the performance consideration? Is there any performacne guide or so ??

  • Managing Multiple threads accessing  a single instance of a class

    Hi,
    i have to redesign a class, say X, in such a way that i manage multiple threads accessing a single instance of the class, we cannot create multiple instances of X. The class looks like this:
    Class X{
    boolean isACalled=false;
    boolean isInitCalled=false;
    boolean isBCalled=false;
    A(){
    isACalled=true;
    Init(){
    if(!isACalled)
    A();
    B();
    C();
    isInitCalled=true;
    B(){
    if(!isACalled)
    A();
    isBCalled=true;
    C(){
    if(!isACalled)
    A();
    if(!isBCalled)
    B();
    }//end of class
    Init is the method that would be invoked on the single instance of this class.
    Now i cannot keep the flags as instance variables coz different threads would have differrent status of these flags at the same time, hence i can make them local, but if i make them local to one method, the others won't be able to check their status, so the only solution i can think of is to place all the flags in a hashtable local to method INIT AND INITIALIZE ALL OF them to false, as init would call other methods, it would pass the hashtable reference as an additional parameter, the methods would set the flags in the hashtable and it would be reflectecd in the original hashtable, and so all the methods can have access to the hashtable of flags and can perform their respective checks and setting of flags.
    This all would be local to one thread, so there's no question of flags of one thread mixin with the flags of some other thread.
    My question is :
    Is this the best way, would this work?
    In java, everything is pass by value, but if i pass the hashtable reference, would the changes made inside the called method to the hashtable key-value would be visible in the original hashtable declared inside the calling method of which the hashtable is local variable?

    In Java object variables are passed "by copy of reference", and primitive variables "by value".
    The solution with HashMap/Hashtable you suggest is ok, but I think you should read about ThreadLocal class:

  • Configuring multiple services in a single instance database

    Dear All,
    I would like to create multiple service names for a single instance oracle database (10.2.0.3 on IBM - AIX 6.1). I tried searching on the net, reading documentation, and also on the metalink but couldn't find anything relevant to single instance database.
    Say I have two users, userA and userB, for which I would like to use two services (ServA and ServB) to connect to the same single instance database.
    Any help in this direction is appreciated.

    It is very hard to believe you didn't find this in the documentation, and my suspicion is you didn't search for it at all.It is very hard to believe that you don't trust others and end up in suspicion. I wish you were sitting next to me while I was searching for the link/document.It is because the vast majority of doc questions are asked by people who don't read the docs at all.
    Now, I'm curious about your requirement. While it can be done, it is pretty unusual. That always leads me to want to step back from the technical question and ask What business problem is this solving?

  • How to access multiple database present in single instance

    Hi Team,
    In oracle 11.2, can there be multiple databases in an instance???  In one of our environment, I could see multiple databases in an instance. Could you please help me in giving the data dictionary or query to access those databases?
    Actually, querying v$database, I could see only one database which is same as instance name. But in inventory, there are multiple database in an instance?
    I am still not exactly clear about this. Can someone help me with this?
    Thanks!
    Vidhya

    In Oracle one instance manages one (1) database. A database consists of multiple *schemas*.
    Other vendors erroneously call a schema 'database'.
    So, no, you didn't see multiple databases.
    There is also one datadictionary, consisting of a set of views.
    All views beginning with dba_  list the entire database, all schemas.
    All views beginning with all_ list the objects you have access to.
    All views beginning with user_ list your own objects.
    The view DICT show you the contents of the datadictionary.
    Oracle also has online documentation at http://docs.oracle.com
    From your question it is clear you should read the document called the 'Oracle Concepts Manual'.
    You can find all documentation for 11gR2 here Oracle Database Online Documentation 11g Release 2 (11.2)
    Too many people here don't make any effort to read it. This is probably the reason why you got no response.

  • Multiple Receive location but Single Instance of Orchestration

    Hi,
    I have only one Receive Port (POP3 adapter) and multiple receive locations configured to different email IDs.
    ReceivePort1
    - Receive location1 - [email protected]
    - Receive location2 - [email protected]
    - Receive location3 - [email protected]
    If I send a mail with more than 1 recipient then that many orchestration instance is being generated.
    If I send a email where 'To' field has all three email Id also, always orchestration should instantiated only once. If I make my Orchestration as Singleton, does it help?
    Regards,
    Lakshmi

    Hi Laxme,
    Ask the team which manages the mailboxes to create a rule for these different emailIDs. The rule should route the mails (which you want to process in BizTalk, so you can have filter) to these email ID/ mailboxes to another email ID/mailbox something like
    [email protected]
    Then create a Receive port and Receive Location to receive emails from
    [email protected] In the port’s inbound map, apply map to convert the incoming message to the different mailbox to an canonical (common) schema
    Create a orchestration to receive message of type of the canonical (common) schema
    Define correlation set and types and in the correlation properties we will use the “BTS.ReceivePortName” property. This will enable you to have the convoy configured on all the messages arriving on a particular receive port. And define a singleton orchestration,
    if you want to have one instance of the orchestration created. Since you will have one mailbox to receive messages you can process the message in your orchestration even without the singleton orchestration depending on your actual processing requirements.

  • Can multiple iPods exist on one computer

    I know I am a loser asking such a simple question... But if I get my hubby a new iPod, can he access all the songs (share) that we have already purchased? If so, how would I set that up with the New iPod ? He currently uses mine, but we ave some different taste in music so I would like A) to be able to use mine while we are both working out, and B) to set up his own playlists with songs that I have already purchased on MY iTunes acct. and put them on his playlist.
    This all just confuses the heck out of me... But I was born before 1980!!
    Any help would be so greatly appreciated... I want to buy him his own for Christmas... But NOT at the cost of rebuying so any songs!!!!
    THANKS!!

  • Can multiple users share a single Email Account?

    I set up my email account last night and everything worked perfectly. Messages downloaded from my ISP with no problems. Then I logged out of my user account and logged into my wife's user account. When I clicked on mail to test it, I realized that it is assuming she will be checking mail from a different email account. Is there a way that our seperate user accounts can share the same email account?

    Technically, yes, you should be able to do this... the issue is why do you want to? If you set up her user account Mail (or whatever e-mail application you're using) preferences with the same information you used for yours (mail account name, password, SMTP information) and make sure that the "leave message on server" box is checked in the Mail preferences for both user accounts, the messages for that e-mail account can be downloaded to both user accounts. The problem is that each user would have to delete messages meant for the other. Depending on what type of mail account (IMAP, POP) it may also mean that the "new mail" status of a message may not be correct. A message read in one user's account may show up as "read" in the other. It's much tidier for each user to have their own e-mail address.

  • Converting to Oracle Real Application Clusters from Single-Instance Oracle

    Is there any notes at metalink for
    Converting to Oracle Real Application Clusters from Single-Instance Oracle Databases
    We should have 10g DB on ASM to make it RAC?

    With Oracle Database 10g Release 2, $ORACLE_HOME/bin/rconfig tool can be used to convert Single instance database to RAC. This tool takes in a xml input file and convert the Single Instance database whose information is provided in the xml. You can run this tool in "verify only" mode prior to performing actual conversion. This is documented in the RAC admin book and a sample xml can be found $ORACLE_HOME/assistants/rconfig/sampleXMLs/ConvertToRAC.xml. Grid Control 10g Release 2 provides a easy to use wizard to perform this function.

  • How do I host multiple domains on a single Messaging Server?

    How do I host multiple domains on a single Messaging Server?
    <p>
    To host multiple domains on one Messaging Server, use the
    mailAlternateAddress attribute. If you want to host two domains
    (customer1.com and customer2.com) on your server mail1.domain.com,
    make sure that:
    The various domains (in DNS) point to the installed mail server
    (you must have the MX records that
    points mail for customer1.com to mail1.domain.com and
    customer2.com to mail1.domain.com)
    That each person receiving mail at customer1.com and
    customer2.com has an appropriate mailAlternateAddress
    attribute describing the appropriate email address. For
    instance, John Doe can have an email address (i.e. the value
    of the 'mail' attribute for the John Doe LDAP entry) of
    [email protected] and receive his mail on
    [email protected] (the value of the mailAlternateAddress
    attribute)
    With Messaging Server 3.5, mailAlternateAddress can take the
    form of @mail1.domain.com. If jdoe's mailAlternateAddress is
    set to @mail1.domain.com, mail sent to [email protected]
    will be delivered to [email protected]

    So what exactly am I doing with virtual hosts?  There is a place for Aliases...  What would I put in the "Aliases" box?
    Any other host name that you want to resolve to the specified virtual host.  It's quite literally an alias.
    if you want www.example.com and www.example.org to end up at the same web site and you already have a virtual host — Apple refers to virtual hosts as sites — configured for www.example.com in Server.app, then you'd add www.example.org as an alias for the www.example.com virtual host (site).
    Virtual hosts are implemented in a web server using some details of the HTTP or HTTPS protocol, and what the web browser (client) specified.  The client gets handed an IP address or a domain name by the user, and the client then fetches the associated IP address for the target web server from the client's DNS services or local host database, and the client then connects to the IP address and passes over the text string that the user had requested — the IP address or domain name or even some local shortcut set up in the client system — via the HTTP or HTTPS protocol.  The web server receives and processes this arriving text string from the client, and uses it to select which web site to render back to the web client.   One subtle detail lurks here, too: the server's own DNS configuration really isn't involved in the selection of the virtual host.

  • Multiple Oracle databases on Single host

    Hi Gurus,
    I am new to SAP World. We are planning to install multiple SAP systems (ECC/BW/SRM/XI) on a single host with Oracle 11.2.0.2. As per SAP instguide, the Oracle RDBMS software should be owned by ora<SID>:dba. So we are planning to install the oracle software for the first dev system ERD under 'oraerd:dba' id. And the next will be under 'orabwd:dba' and the third under 'orasrd:dba'.
    My questions is, instead of having multiple ORACLE_HOME's owned by individual id's, can I have one consolidated Oracle_Home owned by 'oracle:dba' which then controls all the oracle db's and its datafiles.
    I know there is a SAP Note to do this for Oracle RAC (prd is being planned this way), but can we do the same for Single instance also.
    Best Regards
    Shiv

    Hi Orkun,
    > Thanks for your reply. Its a must or its just better to have under individual O_H. The reason we were looking to out all under 'oracle' was that our DR site for the prod is going to be single instance physical standby using DG. SAP recommends to have the OS user on the DR host to be oracle, so that there are no issues with permissios for log shipping.
    > So we will end up having multiple db's system running under 'oracl' on the DR site.

    > -Shiv
    Hi Shiv,
    Technically, there's no restriction to configure your system, by this way. But from SAP point of view; at the first step, because the the installation is not completed as referred by SAP installation guide, you will not able to get support by SAP. For the instance, if you face with a problem during the productive, SAP may not support your installation.
    Secondly, you may face with the problems at the database upgrades and applying patches. For example, you need to stop all the databases when you decided to patch one of them.
    I can count many restrictions about this issue. As a summary, from technical way, it is possible to have one Oracle home, but it is strongly recommended to have different Oracle home folders for each Oracle installation.
    Best regards,

  • [SOLVED] Multiple Instances of Word 2010; Possible to Force Single Instance?

    Is it possible to either:
    Control Word instancing so that its a single instace application; OR
    Adjust the behavior so that if there's already an Word of word, new documents (no matter how they're launched) will open in the existing instance and NOT a new one?
    I have a user who tends to open documents en masse/in bulk, highlighting 2-8 at a time and opening them (alternate-click > open OR once selected hitting [Enter]).
    When they do this, multiple instances of Word are launched.
    Very rarely is there an instance for each document, but its usually close.  For example, if they opened 8 documents there might be 5-7 instances, with several instances showing 2 or more documents in View > Switch Windows.
    Multiple instances of Word are a problem for this user because they because a heavy user of Ctrl+F6 / Ctrl+Shift+F6.
    And when documents are spread out across multiple instances, this does not work: It does not allow them to cycle through all opened documents; It will only cycle through those that are within that particular instance of Word.
    Is this by design?
    Is this a change in the way earlier versions of Word behaved?
    Is this an 'undocumented feature' [or worse]?
    Can this behavior be controlled?

    No idea; I'd call it a bug.
    This behavior started with Word 2007 or 2010, earlier versions opened all documents within a single instance.
    See 1.
    No, unfortunately not.

  • Auto-populate of SHELL_shellName_shell Upper form DE only functions in one single-instance project shell.  The DE in the BP Upper Form needs to auto-populate in two separate single-instance shells.  How can I get this DE to autopopulate in both?

      The Unifier environment
    contains two single-instance project shells, INF and PBS, and two multiple-instance child project shells, INFS and
    PB.    There is a single instance, non-workflow
    business process, ‘Project Information’ that contains a data element in the
    upper form definition, Project ID.  The Project ID is set to auto-populate from the multi-instance “INFS”
    project shell attribute, which is populated manually.
    Issue:  The auto-populate functionality for the
    Project ID ‘Shell_shellName_shell’ data element within the single-instance
    Project Information BP only functions within one of the shells, either
    INFS or PB, but not both.  The INF and INFS shells are currently deployed
    to production, PB and PBS shell are not.
    It is critical that Project ID ‘Shell_shellname_shell’ data element is populated correctly in the
    Project Information upper form of both shells, INFS and PB,
    because that data element is referenced by multiple business processes and
    integrations.
    The attribute form definitions for both single and multiple instance project shells are identical.  The Project ID utilizes the same data
    element ‘SHELL_shellName_shell’ as is defined in both shell attribute forms
    (INFS and PB).
    The data definition source is a Unifier system-level variable, SYS Shell
    Name (String, 128, Text Box)
    Potential Solutions:
    1. Create a Project ID DE of another data type which can
    be successfully auto-populated from either shell.  Drawback: all BPs and integrations which
    reference Shell_Shellname_shell will need to be rewritten.
    2. Investigate converting the Project Information single-instance
    to a  multi-instance BP, and create a
    separate instance for each single-instance shell type.  Same Drawback as Option #1, but with additional
    rework.  Most likely Project Information
    would have to be recreated as a new BP.
    Not sure that this option would even work.
    3. Create a separate Project Information BP for PB.  Drawback:  Two separate BPs for Project Information would
    need to be created.  All existing BPs
    refer to Project Information, so this option could potentially invalidate the
    ability to use the existing BPs in the PB shell.
